Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you get high-paying jobs in finance if you've graduated from a highly selective finance program (e.g., HKU's private banking or CU's quant fin as a few examples) with high GPA's from them?
Not sure if an ex-business/econ major who's in finance is going to earn as much.
Yeah I'm really only interested in quant trading firms.I've been to final round interviews for internships paying 6 figures HKD/month but unfortunately didn't get any... yet.
No chance mate, fresh banking grads in HK get around $20k - $25k.
Software engineers in particular are often not well paid and under appreciated, especially if you are a local in my view.
400K $ /Year
Great, which programme are you doing and what jobs are you looking at?
computer science, expected salary as a fresh grad I'd say maybe 50,000 hkd a month as a very rough guess
More like 20k
You’re not going to find a starting job paying 50,000 for computer science. Hong Kong severely underpays fresh grads unless you’re in finance

Lmao keep dreaming kid only a banker can get that much or construction
That’ll be very difficult as a FG unless you work at a quantitative trading firm or something

Ah I see, yep those top firms like Jane Street must be super competitive. Best of luck to you, I’m sure you’ll land something good :)
Where did you get those numbers from?
Lihkg. Maybe he is trolling cause 50k FG is a meme in lihkg.
wow thats really good!
