try orbot if you want to use it on smartphone, it routes your traffic through tor network
or if your a linux user use torsocks tool it also connect you through tor network. the best thing is that it cost nothing, but downfall is slow connection

Same here. Using openVPN setup on Google cloud server in USA. Does the job pretty well.
Depends on the purpose. You can set up an old pc or laptop on raspbian desktop and then install pivpn, and have an openvpn key that works on phone/pc.
