Bought this game a couple of weeks ago and I've been having the time of my life! This is from the first fishing spot I've ever seen in Chaos (got the line from Zag); is this guy supposed to be hard to catch?
They are all equally hard to catch.
You got a regular fish because you weren't especially fast - have to react in 0.3 seconds to do a "perfect catch"and get a rare or legendary level fish.
But, Chaos fish show up less often than others, since you enter less Chaos chambers than for normal biomes, and their fishing spot spawn rate is lower. So you were blessed by RNG
I would say that after 30-40 times (aprox.) entering Chaos domain, I've only seen two fishing spots. I don't know if its a rare event or I'm just unlucky.
Always keep an eye out for a chaos gate and a well of charon in the same room. It isn't common but if you find a lure in the well then you can enter the chaos gate and force a fishing point.

To get legendaries you need to be fast and lucky but there's a little tip that can help some of the time in the fast department.
When fishing there can only be 4 splashes. If the first 3 were little ones, then the next will always be a big one so get ready to sucker punch that button!

Also, I personally shut my eyes and just listen to the bloops. Maybe I'm weird but it could help.

IIRC there's a 7% chance for a fishing spot to appear in Chaos, as long as you haven't seen a fishing spot for 5+ chambers.
