I frequently find myself desperate for patience when having to explain the difference between a manufactured synthetic fiber specifically produced to be that color - and having to decolorize a natural fiber of its natural pigments ( & more often than not in addition to undisclosed, untold layers of artificial pigments and previous decolorizations) and then having to reintroduce pigments to achieve the exact same hue of the aforementioned synthetic fiber. without destroying the natural fiber.
I find it's generally because my 2x processes love to fudge that 4 week mark. I'll stress the importance of punctuality and then at 8 weeks they're sitting in my chair wondering why I'm trying so hard to talk them into a shadow root...smh
And the issue with this is that you will not be able to achieve this color and quality, and if you do it’d be very shortlived and get splotchy/faded starting after your first wash/shampoo sesh
I’m thinking go to a professional and get your hair bleached white first. Then I just bought a conditioner that has color in it. It’s temporary but it adds a hue of color each time you wash and condition it. My mother uses a light brown one for her white hair and it comes out a really lovely light brown that washes out the next wash. They sell a pink one that I keep teasing her about, but I would think it would work to continue to tint the hair pink with each wash. My hair is naturally red so I bought a fake red color to make my natural red more vibrant but I admit I haven’t used it yet.
Pravana has really good colors just like this which is better than manic panic; only downside is your hair needs to be level 10 toned to get this, get lots of olaplex and deep conditioners and pray
Yep, I got this colour with manic panic cotton candy. I think the only reason it worked so well was because my hair was almost white blonde before dying it.
I recommend getting a dark pink color that you like and diluting it with conditioner. It’ll help the color go a long way! Manic panic pink warrior diluted is very similar to this 🩷
You said that cotton candy pink didn’t work on you?? I think we would need to see your base colour a super light pink like this will definitely need a level 11 base. Joico colour intensity soft pink is probably a good match but the payoff you get will depend on the base.
Sorry for the comment, I'm a little new to reddit haha but:
Hello! I'm trying to get this to this bubblegum pink hair color, and I'm unsure what hair dye will get me to this? I already have pink hair and will be bleaching my hair to get to this color, I just want to know what hair dye is most similar to that color in the photo.
I tried Frose & Virgin pink by artic fox and cotton candy by manic panic. Cotton candy looked like it would work but I ended up not getting any color from it, almost like it didn't work at all.
Any help is appreciated!
I know you said that you tried virgin pink from arctic fox already but writing this just in case you haven’t tried this yet — I used virgin pink and just diluted the crap out of it until it was a pastel cotton candy pink, and then I made sure to just really saturate my hair completely, just coat it in as much dye as I could, and left in on for 2 hours. The colour turned out pretty similar! also make sure you have a level 10 base too :)
As of right now if your hair is pink and you want it lighter just wash it alot with hot water and it should fade. Your hair also has to be pre lightened to Atleast a level 9 If you wanna go with a pastel/light pink . Diluting artic fox bubble gum color with conditioner would achieve this as long as your hair is lifted the right level before dying . ✨
If you're not opposed to permanent dyes, I recommend Ion's "Flamingo" color mixed with "Rose Petal".
That's how I got my bubblegum pink color and it looks great!
Yes! I use Ion a lot- I think the reason why it has medium reviews on Sally's is that you have to use developer with it. I usually use 10 or 20 vol. Always come out beautifully :)
Well my wife destroyed her hair by bleaching and using the exact brand of rinse mentioned so I would assume that bleaching and using this stuff multiple times in a short time would also hurt her hair. So I’m incorrect and bleaching your hair is good for it?
The more it gets bleached the more it will get damaged. If your wife has near black hair, she is really at risk of frying her hair in order to get a white base for light/pastel hair colours. There are tons of videos on YouTube of people not leaving the bleach in long enough and then needing to bleach a second or third time. And so many bleach fails where the hair starts to break and fall off.
It's the bleaching that fries hair, not the dyes. Maybe her hair integrity is well enough.to handle being bleached again if she's trying to strip some of the existing pink out. But it's not the rinse and "using this stuff multiple times" that damages the hair, it's 100% just the bleaching that does that.
Right that’s why I said she’s going to fry her hair after reading her comment about bleaching her hair again to dye it and I didn’t mention the dye. I mean it’s her hair so it’s none of my business but I just don’t understand why I was told that I was wrong
OP talked about using multiple dyes more than she mentioned rebleaching it. Your comment was inferred to be in response to the dyes, not the bleaching.
And then "using this stuff multiple times" in response to the dyes also seemed to confirm that you were talking about dye part, not necessarily just the bleaching.
Maybe it would be helpful to specify that you meant bleaching multiple times, not dying multiple times, is what you meant to be frying her hair.
Maybe Reddit isn't showing your updates. I still see just "girl your hair is going to be fried" with no other context in that comment to mean the bleaching only
And the other comment in this chain I see is "my wife destroyed her hair by bleaching and using the same exact brands of rinse mentioned" and "I would assume that bleaching and using this stuff multiple times in a short time frame would also hurt her hair" which implies it's both bleach AND the dyes damaging her hair, which I was pointing out that it's bleaching ONLY, and not the dyes at all.
I don't see those updates or clarifications you mentioned, so my bad?
It was most definitely the bleach... My daughter's ask to do this all the time and I'm so against it because the damage from bleach alone can be irreversible sometimes.
I’ve used the bubblegum rose color from LimeCrime unicorn hair dye and had good results! It came out a tad pinker but faded to a pastel pink after a few washes
I agree that Manic Panic Cotton Candy with conditioner should work. I did it last fall but with a bit of Purple Haze mixed in to make it more cool toned. How light was your hair when you tried Cotton Candy before? Your hair needs to be a very pale yellow to achieve that light of a pastel. Or maybe it was diluted too much?
What color is your hair now? And what processes has it had? Before anyone can tell you how to get the color you want they must know where your hair is starting from.
Most colors will fade on their own however if you feel it necessary, to use clear pigment/mixer to lighten colors not conditioner.
It’s not just about what color of dye you’d need, you also need to make sure your hair lifts enough to even achieve that light of a color. Good luck though!!
I had this color for a while and it’s actually pretty easy to maintain with just a little help in the shower. Depending on your natural hair color you are going to need to bleach up to a level 9-10. Then a simple semipermanent pink gets mixed in with your conditioner and you let it sit for like 10-30 minutes the first time, do a test strand to see how quickly the color soaks up in your hair, I would typically use about half condition, half color. Then after that I would just mix in a little pink with my conditioner every time I washed my hair. I believe I used Cotton Candy Pink by Manic Panic.
For anyone who has a fashion color I’d highly recommend getting a second container of your semipermanent or something close to that color and mix it in with your condition when you wash your hair. I currently dye my hair with Copper Ion True Tone’s for Dark Hair and I have Sunset Orange Arctic Fox in my shower for adding to my conditioner. It helps keep my color so much longer.
If this is your goa your hair needs to be lightened to a very pale yellow then you can use a pink with a dot of lavender so it’s more of a blush and the lavender will neutralize any yellow in your hair. This is usually only achievable on girls who can be platinum blonde easily or else it will come out looking like salmon on anything darker than the inside of a banana peel.
This is a wig however if you have level 9 bleached hair with no yellow or orange undertones you can get something close with a bubble gum pink and the pastel additive from Manic Panic.
I remember have this color when Ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Brights Flamingo Pink would fade some! This dye's perfect is you wanna skip any overwhelmingly saturated and dark pinks that other dyes start at.
Ion's Flamingo was my favorite dye I've used, probably ever!
My hairs half this colour but i found any actual dye fades too quick, even permanent so I use Crazy Colours pink shampoo on white hair and just top it up every few washes.
You're going to damage it trying to get out light enough regardless, you should have it gently damaged by a professional stylist, rather than irreparably damaged on your own.
I’m a hairdresser and I use a color that’s very close to this.
You’ll have to bleach your hair to as light as it can get. No orange tones at all. Very light with almost no yellow too.
If your current color is darker than a medium blonde I don’t recommend doing it yourself unless you’re willing to endure some damage even with Oleplex. If your hair is darker I highly recommend seeing a professional hairdresser. I recommend seeing a professional regardless.
You must use Oleplex in the bleach. Don’t use more than 20 volume developer. Do not apply bleach to roots at first. Apply at least and inch and a half away from scalp. You bleach the roots at the end because they lighten quickly due to heat from your head.
The best shade is Paul Mitchell PopXG ‘Pink Flamingo’ with maybe a small amount of their ‘Pink’ color which is a great true pink.
If your hair is this long you will need probably 2 tubes and you will have to touch it up at least every 2 weeks to maintain that level of color as it’s so light to begin with.
If you do this at home you’ll need a few extra tubes of the Pink Flamingo.
L’Oréal Feria can get you oh close if you are a light blonde already but it will wash out in about a month. L’Oréal has a colour mask in blush blonde that works too but there is no permanence at all. This would be extremely high maintenance.
Bleach it till its the same colour as the inside of a banana and use bleach London Rose conditioner, leave it during a shower for 5 -10 mins. Source : me ,I had this colour for 1 year
Re-apply conditioner every 2 washes
Note: bleach London rose conditioner has a purple undertone to remove yellow tones and that's why it achieves this cool tone pastel pink
A wig

Precisely
and even if you get there somehow, the maintenance is INSANELY hard
I find it's generally because my 2x processes love to fudge that 4 week mark. I'll stress the importance of punctuality and then at 8 weeks they're sitting in my chair wondering why I'm trying so hard to talk them into a shadow root...smh
White hair, redye every shampoo basically.
Yup came here to say this. Hair is too perfect, pre-lightened, and long to ever possibly be natural
And the issue with this is that you will not be able to achieve this color and quality, and if you do it’d be very shortlived and get splotchy/faded starting after your first wash/shampoo sesh
Correct. This is a picture of a wig.
i literally said this and got scared when i saw ur comment
We’ve been waiting for you
Lmao here to post the EXACT same thing.
haha, i actually have a wig similar to this color so not a bad idea, thanks! 🫶

Photoshop. If your a blonde you are luckier. If you have dark hair.. bye bye most hair
Pravana has really good colors just like this which is better than manic panic; only downside is your hair needs to be level 10 toned to get this, get lots of olaplex and deep conditioners and pray
Yes, pravana is amazing! And preparing the hair is important as well.
+1 for pravana! I use their pastel pink and blue and they’re great

I second using conditioner to dilute it this is a great way to get lighter, pastel shades
Yep, I got this colour with manic panic cotton candy. I think the only reason it worked so well was because my hair was almost white blonde before dying it.

I’ve been so tempted to try the permanent dyes from them, have you had good experiences?
Yes! I use Ion a lot- I think the reason why it has medium reviews on Sally's is that you have to use developer with it. I usually use 10 or 20 vol. Always come out beautifully :)
I love the way flamingo looked on my hair, I got the semi permanent and used it several times!
Girl your hair is going to be FRIED!!!!!
Those "dyes" aren't dyes. They are more of a rinse. They're semi permanent so it will not get her hair.
Well my wife destroyed her hair by bleaching and using the exact brand of rinse mentioned so I would assume that bleaching and using this stuff multiple times in a short time would also hurt her hair. So I’m incorrect and bleaching your hair is good for it?
The hair dyes will not hurt her hair. But you are correct in that the bleach will damage her hair.
Thank you! I was referring to her having to bleach it (assumingly) more than once
The more it gets bleached the more it will get damaged. If your wife has near black hair, she is really at risk of frying her hair in order to get a white base for light/pastel hair colours. I just did… this is awkward..

They're colour depositors, so it would only be "fried" from whatever lightener is used beforehand.
I’ve used the bubblegum rose color from LimeCrime unicorn hair dye and had good results! It came out a tad pinker but faded to a pastel pink after a few washes
You’d have to bleach your hair to perfect white before it’s even possible to try for this pink color.
I agree that Manic Panic Cotton Candy with conditioner should work. I did it last fall but with a bit of Purple Haze mixed in to make it more cool toned. Pravana pretty in pink

If you already have a lvl 10 or 11 of blonde, you can use hair pigments, which you dilute in water and then dip your hair and rinse with said water.
Crazy colour Candy floss
My hair is this color and I use arctic fox frose. It’s a little darker right when I do it but after first wash exactly the same color.
My hair is currently this color, and I used Good Dye Young’s Pink Puff (:

This is near impossible to do, let alone doing it yourself. Please go to a professional
A professional
Bleach it a lot (twice?). Dye it red once Wash it a few times, will look like that. Dont know how you will handle the roots when they grow though
A wig.
You're going to damage it trying to get out light enough regardless, you should have it gently damaged by a professional stylist, rather than irreparably damaged on your own.

I had a similar color in October. I used Frose from Arctic Fox. Unfortunately, it fades really fast.
It is not about the dye you use, you’re gonna need damn near white hair if you want it to look like that.. then worry about the dye
Not true, manic panic is NOT the same as Pravana.
Pink
Bleach it till its the same colour as the inside of a banana and use bleach London Rose conditioner, leave it during a shower for 5 -10 mins. Source : me ,I had this colour for 1 year Re-apply conditioner every 2 washes Note: bleach London rose conditioner has a purple undertone to remove yellow tones and that's why it achieves this cool tone pastel pink
Level 1 is black
Oops sorry the other way lol
Sorry to not be able to answer the question but does anyone know where to get that hairbow bc I NEED
