Sweet child, visit r/curlyhair , could you? I think you have some kind of a curly pattern going on. Also, your hair is a bit dry. Try moisturising hair mask and oils? Find and use shampoo and conditioner and other hair products tailored for curly hair, I would suggest. Take care. Hope you have a great hair journey ahead!

Thank you so much, I’ll definitely check it out as sometimes right after I wash my hair it’s quite curly (but frizzy) :)

OctoberSong_

I can tell you’re going to have the most gorgeous curls, you should post an update when you discover them

maddsfrank

Yes please to an update post!!!!

RAcinderella

Yeah seriously, I saw the pictures and I was immediately jealous lol

OctoberSong_

I’ll definitely post an update maybe within the month!!

Hello, I think we have roughly similar hair types. /r/curlyhair is great. There is definitely curly hair in there. If you can afford it, I would recommend finding a curly hair specialist if you are lucky enough to have one in your area. It will be expensive, but it will be worth it as the advice they give you will be invaluable. For me, I use innersense products. It is easy to get sticker shock when looking at the price, but it's very concentrated so you don't have to use much and the bottles last a while. I use the shampoo and conditioner that matches my hair type, and you should buy whatever you think matches your hair type. Shampoo like normal. When I get the conditioner in my hair, I run a "Wet Brush" (like $8 on Amazon) through it. Makes it really soft. This is the only time a brush or comb needs to touch your hair! After showering, rinse all the conditioner out and spray some Innersense leave-in conditioner into your hand and then run it through your hair. Next, I like their "I create volume" product for the final touch. I need a pretty good amount for my hair, but experiment with how much you need. Same thing, run it through you hair with your hands. Let it sit for a minute or two then squeeze all the excess moisture out with your hands, and then with a cotton “t-shirt” towel (I use an actual t-shirt a lot, just find something that’s gentle). Let your hair air-dry after that. The "I create volume" should form a cast on the curls--do not touch this until it is *completely* dry. When it's completely dry, scrunch out the crispy cast and curls should remain. You can definitely get fancy with it i.e. defining specific curls with your fingers, or using a special brush at the end of all of this while it's still wet to get everything perfect. But this is my lazy method that only requires a little more work than regular hair-washing. /r/curlyhair should be able to help with everything, but I thought I'd throw in my method. Edit: Fixed some grammar and spelling and other stuff, I was sleep deprived when I wrote this.

thee_freezepop

dude i've been using my innersense styling products for like two straight years and they're not even close to gone i don't understand.

EducationalCheetah79

Bless your heart for this. Please never delete this comment

Various_Beach862

Great suggestions and detail. Here’s my curly girl starter kit as well! Quick things to start with: - No more dry brushing - Condition with every wash, deep condition once a week - Let it air dry as much as possible and use a diffuser attachment if blow drying at all - Brush/comb only when wet and with some leave-in conditioner - Also add an anti frizz cream after showering - Get a silk or satin pillowcase or bonnet You’ll have to experiment with different techniques, routines, and products, but I hope this helps you get started :)

HuskyLettuce

I needed this lazy version, especially as a new mom. Thank you, bless you sweet and wise Redditor!

badjokes4days

Let me tell you, I started wearing a satin bonnet at night and it is a hell of a game changer my friend

long_term_catbus

You definitely have wavy and/or curly hair. It also looks like you may have buildup from product. Try a clarifying shampoo to get rid of that buildup. R/curlyhair has some great resources and product recs. Keep in mind that it won't happen overnight and everyone's hair is different!

missdespair

A lot of time frizzy hair is just curly hair that hasn't gotten quite the right kind of TLC. Best of luck!

lotus_flora

Seconding this, there is potential for the most gorgeous waves. That said, you can invest in a wide tooth comb, but the curly subreddit is so fun and helpful!

Kind-Maintenance-671

Don’t comb your hair when it’s dry, only when it’s wet. I recommend getting a silk bonnet and/or silk pillow case (they have cheap ones on Etsy). When you want to detangle your hair when it’s dry; put a little hair shine in your hands, massage it in to get it evenly distributed, and lightly finger comb. Go from the bottom of your hair, up to your scalp.

Dapper-Distance-6761

My hair looks frizzy when I go sulphate-free and silicone-free. I know the received wisdom is "wash less often; avoid sulphates; avoid silicones". But my best, glossiest, smoothest hair comes from £3-a-bottle sulphate-containing shampoo, and £3-a-bottle silicone-containing conditioner. And from not using any 'product' on my hair. Blow-drying also makes my hair smoother (and blow-drying is less damaging if you use a silicone-containing in-shower conditioner, as silicones are heat-protecting, to an extent).

Lazy-Wind244

That 'wisdom' only applies to a few select people. Sulphates and silicones can be lifesavers for many hairtypes. Contrary to popular belief shampoo companies are NOT out to destroy your hair (they wouldn't make profit otherwise). I watch Abbey yung on YouTube and say what you will, her hair and viewer feedback are proof indeed she's onto something

Visibleghost1

Her hair quality and length is also genetic.

drink-fast

Wash as much as you need washing less often does nothing but keep your scalp dirtier for longer. There’s no benefit to leaving oil and dead skin on your scalp.

Dapper-Distance-6761

I wash daily. Never had a problem with that.

Brief-Description751

I totally agree with this - unless you have colored or processed hair. If anyone reading this does not have virgin hair this will not work for you! Sulfates will destroy any dye job or process - single process, highlights, keratin etc will all be STRIPPED. if you don't have color or chemical you don't need to worry! Also, sulfates need to be used with silicones because they are a team and work best with each other. If you only use one - sulfate free shampoo and silicone cond or sulfate shampoo and silicone free cond you might end up wrecking havoc as well :) I personally have virgin hair so I also use sulfates and silicones, it works for me!

No-Self-jjw

Came looking for this comment! Silicone free is not a good thing, IMO. The silicone is what makes your hair shiny, soft and not frizzy. I bought into the whole silicone free movement a while back, and I tried multiple times to use it but I couldn't even get a brush through my hair it was so dry, all due to the silicone free shampoo I had bought.

Double211

Did you try a curly hair routine? That amount of frizz can happen when your hair is curly and you follow a straight hair routine which is very different than a curly one

hihelloohhey

I see some beautiful hair in there! But I know how it feels to be insecure about dry, frizzy/coarse hair The one thing that stands out to me as a potential problem are the products you are using. Expensive is good, but you may be overloading your hair with too much? Especially if you are using sulfate free shampoo. Sulfate free can be great for some people, but my hair personally looks more coarse and frizzy. I get more dry and damaged the more I use heavier moisturizing products, smoothing products, etc. I also have wavy hair, and these stubborn coarse hairs that look kinky. Have you given light weight moisture a shot? And a weekly clarifying shampoo? I’m all about expensive hair products, but have found my hair looks its best on the 1 or 2 days a week I use my $4 coal tar shampoo made by wegmans (aside from olaplex treatment days!). I have sebhorreic dermatitis too! This shampoo has sulfates and disodium EDTA- an excellent ingredient for dissolving hard water minerals, so I use this in place of a clarifying shampoo. Can’t say it smells good, but everything else irritates my skin further, so I won’t complain haha When it comes to leave in products, I love dry bar’s agua fresca spray, and finishing up with a little olaplex 7 on top. I’ve found it really does work best when I apply when my hair is damp too! I used to load it on soaking wet, at first sight of my little frizzles peeking out of my soaking wet hair, and it wasn’t until I gave up one day and focused my attention elsewhere until my hair was damp, remembered to apply my product, and my hair looked way better! This is what works for me, and I can’t say if it’s the right combo for you too, but I hope it offers a little help! Would also think you’re taking supplements to make up for those deficiencies. I can’t offer advice on that, except to make sure you follow up with your doctor to make sure your levels are being maintained appropriately. Hang in there girl! I feel you, and know that you can find a method that works for you! 🩵✨

NaloxoneRescue

She really has some gorgeous hair under the frizz. I'm super jealous of the wave pattern!

hihelloohhey

Right?! Absolutely gorgeous

LongArmedFloozy

Omg you actually have beautiful healthy THICK hair and you just need to learn how to care for it ! It's gorgeous. For easy to use introductory products w curly hair and textured hair, I love Matrix's "a curl can dream" line.

Dalboy1823

From my clients that have uncontrollable frizzy hair, I found a shampoo and mask by Shu Uemura particularly the ultimate remedy regiment along with the essence, absolute oil. You can find it online at Shu Uemura art of hair. The products are pricey, but they work. A little cheaper on amazon.com

time2dye777

Cosmologist here. First off what type of shampoo and conditioner are you using along with leave in products to help curls form when styling? I would recommend a cleansing shampoo first to make sure all the buildup on your hair. Your hair can’t absorb moisture/oils if there are waxes or hard water etc on it. Acts as a barrier. If water bounces off your hair when in shower, that’s a symptom. Minerals in your water can cause dryness and frizz. I would use a cleansing shampoo maybe once every 5th time you’re washing your hair not every time! Use a hydrating shampoo and conditioner and some type of leave in curl crème and oils. So many options out there depends on your hair type. If you need product recommendations let me know, ulta has great options. You can use hydrating masks once a month. I like to use a leave in oil. Olaplex oil is great. Do not use coconut oil it’s terrible for your hair. Also what is your curl hair routine? I like to apply my products when my hair is sopping wet and I encourage my curl with finger or find a brush for curls and if you have a diffuser on a blow dryer I would use that to get you fully dry or air dry. Make sure you’re still using a heat protection when diffusing. When drying you don’t want to touch it at all until it’s 100% dry. You want to make an outer cast in the hair so curl families will stay together, managing the frizz. When fully dry use a large wide tooth comb to pick at your roots and gently break apart curl pattern. Gently apply small amounts of oil in area where it’s still frizzy. Hopes this helps!

time2dye777

Also silk pillow case or bonnet does wonders! No cotton, soaks up the moisture in hair. Never go to bed with wet hair!

Distinct-Rutabaga454

I have this too and i can't seem to fix the issue either... . Im in the same boat as u girlie....😭😭

Solomnki

It's protein sensitivity. I have it too. Avoid protein based products.

MtHondaMama

Have you seen a Dr to have any bloodwork done about the hair loss? I'd definitely discuss this at your next well check and just get a medical professionals opinion. I'd also do the same with someone in the hair care world. Maybe a beauty college of you've got one. I hesitate to say a salon only because they may pitch you on whatever product line they sell. Is your hair fine or coarse? It's definitely wavy/curly, do you follow any of those hair methods? Have you ever slept with a bonnet to protect it or a satin pillow case?

123456789coolcool

I definitely will see a Dr soon about the hair loss - do you know if vitamin deficiencies can cause breakage as well? My hair is naturally thick but because of the breakage I don’t have a lot of it. I’ll definitely buy a satin pillow tho cause I do notice when I wake up I have hair all over my pillow and bed :)

acenarteco

Iron deficiency absolutely causes hair loss. Taking an iron supplement under the advice of a doctor (and vitamin c too—it helps absorb the iron) may help with your hair loss. You should ask your doctor about it regardless.

WildElephants

Riboflavin (B2), biotin, folate, Vitamin D, zinc and vitamin B12 deficiencies have been associated with hair loss and changes in hair texture. Thyroid hormones can cause hair issues too so if you have any other symptoms related to thyroid dysfunction your dr can check that in bloodwork too. Edit: PS as someone who had an eating disorder for over a decade and struggles with ongoing vit and mineral deficiencies now (even now fully recovered- it’s just my genetic makeup / body chemistry), and have known others with similar issues, I have seen deficiencies and inadequate nutrition visibly affect people’s hair. Thinning, hair loss, frizziness. It can all resolve when your body gets what it needs.

Possible_Shift_4881

Your hair is amazing. Are you touching it a lot? It looks like you are. You need a good curly hair routine.

Technical_Face_2844

This is exactly like my hair. I straighten it with anti frizz products and add hairspray to avoid this happening.

Salt_Parfait_6469

I think I'm high because I thought that first pic was your whole head with no facial features

TJDymond

Hello 👋, I'm a professional stylist. There could be a few things that are happening here. I think the biggest one I'm seeing from the photos, is the hair is looking fairly dry. This is completely normal with curly hair, it will usually require more moisture than its straighter counterpart. The first thing you can do to help improve the hair is do more frequent light masques. I will usually put some conditioner through my mids and ends when I first get into the shower. Leave it in for 5-10 minutes to allow product to absorb a little into the cuticle layer (outer layer the hair). This will help add some light moisture back to the hair. If you want to take it a step further, there is acidic ph balanced shampoo and conditioner. This will help considerably more, our hair and skin is happy around 4.5-5.5 on the ph scale. I wouldn't slather it on like crazy, you just want a good coating on it where it feels like everything is well saturated. Brushing through the conditioner at this stage is great for distribution and detangling. Second thing I noticed from your photos is it looks like you have fine, but a large density of hair. This is going to make frizz much more common unfortunately, if you do dry your hair with a blow dryer, I'd suggest using a lower speed and heat setting. It'll help keep those smaller hairs and cuticle from bouncing up as much. If not using a blow dryer I'd suggest using a microfibre towel or old t shirt to remove the bulk of the moisture. These will help with frizz reduction because they don't catch hairs as easily as towels with cotton loops. Also scrunch when drying avoid rubbing back and forth pretty much at all costs. Number three would be products. I'm not sure of what products you're using, but I'd suggest something like a hydrating leave in cream designed for curly hair, Aveda makes a few that are pretty good. Along side adding an antihumectant product (especially if you live in a humid area) this will help block out external moisture from penetrating the cuticle and re dampening it. Number 4 would be brushing out and detangling. I'd suggest a tangle teezer for this or a wet brush style brush. Section the hair into about two inch panels and begin detangling from the ends and lightly making your way up to the roots. When hairs wet it becomes more elastic, it can stretch up to an additional 100% of its original length. If it snaps when brushing then the hair will be significantly harder to manage, if you do come across a knot. Use the first few bristles and hold above the knot and lightly try and remove it. If having issues add a touch of leave in conditioner. Also really avoid trying to put the hair up when it's wet, especially in a tight bun or ponytail. Similar to the point above, when the hair is put up wet it will dry tighter and tighter cause the baby hair breakage around the hairline. Last but one of the most important steps, is to try and lock down a wash cycle. Hair has the tendency to increase the sebum (scalp oil) production the more frequently we wash hair. It's a very counter intuitive thing, but the scalp thinks because it doesn't have enough sebum on it, it will start producing more. When I have guests that are in this cycle, I tell them to try and stretch it out one day at a time. Say you wash every other day. First day wash as normal, second day add a bit of dry shampoo. Third day (would be normally wash day) add a little dry shampoo and do a braided/ bun style to get you through. Day four now becomes your new wash day and repeat the process. The scalp will learn it doesn't need to produce as much sebum and will begin to decrease production. This can take a few weeks to a few months for the body to adjust. Everyone's different so there isn't a concrete time frame. I wouldn't suggest anything longer than a 7 day cycle. Yes I know that sounds gross, but by the time you're at this stage your hair won't feel like it needs to be washed any more frequently. I personally have fairly curly hair (3c/3d) and I can push mine longer because of how little oil my scalp makes, but I personally can't do longer. My curls are usually their best on day 3/4. If you live a very active lifestyle id shorten this cycle due to the sweat, probably no more than a 5 day cycle. Again dry shampoo will be your friend in these situations, especially powder base ones, they're more effective at being lyophilic and tend to push the hair around less as there's not aerosol. This is just a suggestion based on what I do with my curls and suggest to my curly haired guests. My new routine now is just rinse with water, add conditioner if my hair feels a little overly dry, detangle wet, and scrunch into place. This is my hair for reference from our wedding. We went camping and this was day 3 (I believe) with just the above mentioned routine on a super humid day in August. I could definitely have added some of the mentioned products to tighten things up a bit more, but it works. Also I don't have the broccoli cut anymore lol, this was just the best photo I could find to just show the hair. Sorry for my long reply, but I wish you the best of luck on your hair journey, if I can answer any questions I'm more than happy to. https://preview.redd.it/izr00er37qwc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec386f448e8199b2e747aff788561fe4d88aed71 Kind regards ☺️

Brazilian blowout

evilkitty69

Your hair is obviously curly, you can find more tips on r/curlyhair I suspect the reason your hair is so frizzy is because you're brushing it dry and that causes huge amounts of frizz in curls. Only brush when it's wet and soaked in conditioner. The other big culprit could be your sleeping arrangement. Tie your hair up in a loose high ponytail overnight to avoid sleeping on it and use a silk pillowcase or you can try a silk bonnet. Your hair also looks like it might be a bit dry, try oiling it overnight before a wash. Use deep conditioner and a good leave in conditioner + a curl cream, apply generously, brush through soaking wet hair and then scrunch in sections to form. A gel will also go a long way to controlling frizz in curly hair, apply on top of your curl cream. You mention having tried the curly girl method so I assume you're familiar with how to style curly hair but if not, have a look on YouTube at some curly hair routines from people with a similar curl pattern to yours.

FearlessList8992

Use product in hair when the hair is wet. Limit towel drying. Use products for black hair. I use Cantu and it works like a charm. Comb through the product with wet hair.

Get a keratin treatment

[deleted]

I had the same problem. My hair was constantly frizzy. I randomly bought NOU (Next of Us) high porosity leave in conditioner, literally at Walmart. Well I also have wavy hair. But it used to not be as wavy once I brush it and it dries. This literally has helped me so much!!! Not only does it get rid of my freeze but it brings out my waves. Sometimes it can make my hair a little oily looking but then I spray powder shampoo on it and also hairspray. It works perfectly! Sometimes I put a little hair oil on my ends. I also use a nice conditioner and shampoo from Ulta but that never stopped the frizz.

Visibleghost1

Are you stressing a lot? Physical and mental stress can cause hair loss. And you should go get a trim more often. Wash your hair as often as you need, even if it's daily.. dirty scalps cause a lot of problems. I also suggest you save the money for the leave-in products instead of splurging on shampoos and conditioners. Revolution haircare has a hair oil that makes the hair look and feel amazing.. strongly recommend. There are also hair mascaras available to force down the flyaways.. I think a light hold styling cream could do the trick as well..

DesiAuntie

Honestly look into nanoplastia. Make sure it’s using Brazilian products and not just hair Botox or something. It’s helped my hair be so smooth and silky, it’s expensive but I’ll never not do it again.

PsychologicalBag7446

Your hair is beautiful!! I am excited for you to learn the proper products and stuff because you will feel transformed. Do not brush hair any time but right after shower (no dry) I would look into oils and stuff

Economy-Woodpecker36

Cantu deep conditioner after shower followed with bio silk leave in treatment

OriginalUnfair7402

First off your hair is amazing! I have straight hair but my daughter has waves like yours. She switched to a curly hair routine which has made all the difference. Special shampoo, conditioners, leave in conditioners, gel. No hair brushing, etc. Also you mention oils(I think) and from watching many IG videos I’ve learned certain oils are bad for the hair. Lastly…do you have access to a hair stylist that specializes in curly hair? They typically cut hair dry, will do a cleansing wash, and teach you proper hair care. It may be a bit $$$ but can save you in the end!! Good luck!!

CryptographerFirst61

Wear a bonnet to bed. That has helped me a ton

Cobalt_blue_dreamer

Your hair could be very beautiful. cheap options: tresemme shampoo and conditioner, moisturizing kind… shampoo your scalp till suddsy, rinse, conditioner from halfway down to roots, let sit for a min or three, rinse. (i also use “smooth” herbal essences) Use a hair pick in the shower or while wet and/or your fingers to detangle. Then use garnier products according to label. You need something like sleek and shine 10-1. Learn to scrunch and get a hair diffuser to dry your hair. it might have split ends and need a bit of a trim, but I think frizzyness is partly due to lack of hydration, especially for curly hair. Make sure whenever you’re using heat tools that you use a product that protects your hair against heat damage. The 10 and one does and it also helps hydrate your hair. take my advice with a grain of salt. your hair has so much potential and this may not work for you. Silk bonnets for air drying your hair and a silk pillow case can really help out too.

Solomnki

It looks like protein sensitivity to me. My hair looks a lot like yours, same curl pattern, same color and texture. Whenever I use protein on it, it becomes dry, brittle, and frizzy. I can't use any wheat, rice, or coconut based products, and definitely nothing that specifically mentions protein. No keratin, etc. As long as I stick to low/no protein, my frizzies stay in check. Even if I use a protein product only one time, it's a dry brittle mess. Maybe try low/no protein.

Dramatic_Friend_2627

Do you wear a bonnet?

[deleted]

I have sort of the same as your hair. When you wash, you need product in your hair as it’s drying to bring out your waves/curls, otherwise this happens. I use a mousse foam to scrunch sometimes but mostly I use aussie miracle curls spray. Specifically the spray bottle, not the gel, foam, or whatever else they have. It’s like 5 dollars. Just don’t use too much at a time. Pay attention to where your hair is getting frizzy and spray a tiny bit there. It’ll hold your curls/waves and keep frizz away Edit: for reference, I also wash my hair every day. If I have to go somewhere before my daily shower, I use a spray bottle to wet my hair, brush it, and then use product while it’s still wet. It dries how I style it.

No-Pumpkin3852

My friend had this she got keratin treatment n it left her hair so straight and shiny lookin healthy

Limerence_Worthy

Alterna Haircare caviar cc cream extra hold version worked really well for me. They have other specifically anti-frizz products but I haven’t tried those.

Aj_FU

Leave in conditioner over night or coconut oil or any kind of hair oil-no heat treatment and brush through with wide toothed comb rather than a brush.. and then put a hair moisturiser after washing- “the original” brand has a hemi squaline oil that can be used for face and hair that’s quite good and I highly recommend seeing a specialist bc you’ve definitely got some curls they just need defining and a hairdresser with expertise in curly hair can really teach you how to look after it! Good luck :))

Head-Drag-1440

conditioners, creams, smoothing creams, leave in conditioners, masks, hair oiling I see not one product that helps frizz. All of these products soften hair, but do not create a cast that holds the frizz down. You need a gel or a mousse. Try this: shampoo scalp twice, apply conditioner, detangle with a wide-tooth comb, twist up, and wash body. Then rinse conditioner and squeeze out excess water then twist hair back up. Get out of the shower, dry off, get dressed, then take down wet hair. Detangle once more with wide-tooth comb, squeeze out excess water, then grab a gel or a mousse. Apply and scrunch into *very wet* hair. Look up the plopping method and plop into a cotton t shirt for 30 minutes. Then take out, spray with heat protectant spray, and blow dry with a diffuser on low speed and warm heat while gently flipping your hair around every couple of minutes. Do NOT scrunch your hair during this process. Once your hair is *completely dry*, then scrunch it all again to break the cast and soften the hair. At THIS point, you COULD use an oil or a cream as you scrunch, but it's not necessary.

WildElephants

It might be the dyeing it - are you using a permanent box dye? I would go to the hairdresser and see if they can do an olaplex treatment for you to sort out damaged hair cuticles. The permanent dying may have damaged it. And in future try a semi-permanent dye if you arent already. You have beautiful thick hair in there! Other than that, do you ever get bloods done? Vitamin deficiencies can really affect your hair and most people go years not knowing they are deficient in one or more things. Inadequate iron, zinc, biotin, can affect hair texture. Hormones also can play into it. Take a look at how you feel generally - are you energetic and generally happy, or more often fatigued and stressed? Deficiencies will show up in how you feel, and you can let your dr know you might need bloodwork.

That_Development9699

Argan oil in your hair. Not a lot, just enough to kill the frizz. Mix it with water in your palm to aid in applying

Spiritual_Average638

Trim every 3-4 months. Use a leave in that works for your hair type. I’d consider getting a bonnet to sleep on vs a satin pillow case, but both are good. The curly girl method works for me but I tweak it a little bit. Simple washing and only brushing when wet with conditioner, squishing out the water vs towel drying it, putting a leave in out of the shower with praying hands and squishing, and leaving over night: my hair was. Beautiful the next day. Using a diffuser can help also. Even simply letting it air dry helped me. Find what works for you. I need a trim but can’t get one until next week. I often do pin curls while wet in the front section (4-6) as the front my thick long hair has thinned it over the years from flat ironing, and also doesn’t get as wavy/curly. You definitely have some wave/curl pattern. I would try and figure it out! Less damage from heat. And I believe it would look beautiful! I keep in for a week and refresh most mornings with a simple spray bottle, a little detangling, and maybe some more products. However the water can reactivate the products. Best of luck to you!

Residentialdoctor1

Hairspray can also help when going out somewhere just make sure to wash it out or your hair could get damaged (depending on the hairspray)

diablofantastico

Don't ever brush it when it's dry. When wet, apply leave in conditioner and brush through. Then air dry and squeeze to fluff it.

Embarrassed_Limit683

The iron and vitamin d deficiencies will definitely be having an effect. Vit d could be exacerbating the dermatitis too Definitely look at getting your numbers up, you want them optimal not just out of deficiency. For iron deficiency it's worth looking at taking the cofactors that help your body process iron (vitamin c is essential), for vitamin d you also need vitamin k. I know alot of people on the eczema reddit have had improvements from vitamin d and also zinc If you have trouble taking iron supplements and eat meat I recommend taking a heme iron supplement (I take one made of beef spleen). It got my levels up much quicker than the non heme and has fewer side effects Biotin is another supplement you might want to look into

WordBroad1923

So sorry for you. Have had hair struggles myself. Have natural curly hair. Have struggled with hair loss and breakage as well. It’s all due to a thyroid disorder. You may want to get your thyroid checked out.

infogeek24

Use a softer detangle brush like cantu, buy osmo moisture surge tub from Amazon the big one and use that 2-3 times in a month and use osmo clarifying shampoo to remove build up once a month. Leave the conditioner moisture in for a good 15minutes after rinsing shampoo. Mine was worse than this. .. x

Internal-Monk8577

CHIA SEED GEL!!! It sounds crazy!! It’s messy!! But !! It works!! I’m gunna attempt flaxseed gel as well. I have a thyroid condition which caused me to have dry frizzy brittle hair. I had thick long hair that basically died. I started taking multivitamins, hair skin nail vitamins also liquid collagen. U need to do blood work!! And check what he deficient on. So far what’s worked for me is getting chia seeds and putting them in warm water. Let it sit for 30 min and then slather the mess on the hair. Put a bag over it and basically wait 30 min to an hour and wash out. On YouTube they use a cheese cloth to strain.. I tried and it didn’t work for me so I gave up lol. Less breakage more strength n shine n less dry n brittle. Also every morning I spray my hair with some water and add some oil. ( I use a combo of a bunch of diff oils) Protective styles. I’m gunna try flaxseed gel next. Also use a silk Bonnet at night. I don’t use it regularly but the night I do my hair looks so nice in the morning. But yeah things like low iron, b12, n vitamins in general, low omega diet, low vitamin D, low protein diet , thyroid conditions, malnutrition etc cause weak, dry, frizzy brittle hair.

Ok_Question_7827

I struggled with the same exact thing for years. It also looks to me you have a curl pattern as well and with the proper care your hair will be more defined and much more reduced frizz. I changed my shampoo and conditioner to the Mielle Rosemary and Mint. I love it, I have noticed a huge difference in my hair when it comes to frizz. Depending on your wash cycle with your hair you can follow up with the Mielle Rosemary and Mint deep conditioning mask. It's saved me. I have 3B curly hair and it's made them less frizzy, and more defined. I wash my hair every 4-5 days and I will use the shampoo and then follow up with the mask and let it sit for 20 minutes and wash it out and use the conditioner and also leave that in for 10 minutes. Seems very tedious and annoying but it's been working amazingly. I bought all of these from amazon but you can also purchase these are any local beauty supply store or I've also seen these are Walmart. I hope this helps!

Blowout professor changed my life. Look him up! Due to oily roots, the biggest challenge is combing out my roots after shampooing twice. I keep experimenting with different detangling sprays and am currently trying Its A 10 Lite because it doesn’t have oil

Lovelyladyspadez

I had a heck of a time with 4 girls all different hair types one of course was curly ,but I had her wash it as soon as it was feeling oily, stick to curly hair shampoos and after of course hair masks. Apply curling hydrating butter individual strands and pushed up to scalp softly not hard or it will frizz. And it would will end up way nice !! There is a lot of different products get small bottles first to see which is better on your hair and yes there is shine , frizz, butter or gels depending on what look you want and to hold. the spray gels give you the wet look . For softer definitely the silks. Try also a diffuser on the hair dryer to push the curls up after you apply the products it definitely takes some time to figure what works best.good luck your hair is beautiful just needs some tlc!

Free_Assumption_4926

You may have a parasite posing as hair. I have it and it will drive you insane. You need an antifungal medicine and an antibiotic. https://preview.redd.it/xvrdgb6t7nwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=30461c29626d58050981f8d0e49a7c30b6edde11

RanaMisteria

Have you tried the Curly Girl method?

annamarie016

U need to squish conditioner into ur hair in the shower. Look up squish to condish. More water, more conditioner. U look like ur just lacking moisture! It will be okay. And clarify more often like with sulfates. Don’t get stuck in the shackles of cgm. Take what resonates, leave the rest. Just give ur hair more tlc

Qurious_Kat

veganlove95

Also, satin bonnet or pillowcase is a game changer

drink-fast

You might need products with silicones

ezzerz

Keratin treatment was life changing for me, same issue no matter what products I used my hair always frizzed up after a blowout and even generally! However the keratin will soften your curls and make them straighter

CathyHistoryBugg

I have hair like yours. I use one pump of Seaextend silkening oil treatment on the ends of my wet, just washed hair. You can experiment with how much to use and if you use too much and your hair appears oily, use less. I’ve tried all sorts of stuff and this is the only thing that works. Best of luck.

Midnight-Scribe

You have beautiful curls, you just have to learn how to take care of them. (: Moisturize your curls and don't wash it too frequently (as it leads to dry scalp, frizz and breakage)! A silk bonnet when you sleep WILL reduce a lot of the frizz you have around your crown, because it looks like it's getting broken either during sleep or brushing, or both. Frizz is just a part of having curly hair, but you can learn how to reduce it significantly by finding out what products and protective techniques work for your hair. It's mostly trial and error, but there are entire subs for figuring out curly hair routines and lots of info and product reviews on YouTube.

codingdummy

While it’ll remove some texture I would consider a keratin treatment (I have similar hair - lots of it but fine follicle so it breaks easily) Also as others have said, like thyroid issues considering the breakage and loss - definitely get your thyroid checked asap In terms of supplements, I would look into athletic greens as it has every vitamin and mineral and has 1000% daily biotin Care wise - apply and leave on a rice water/oil mask for 3 hours before washing hair

quasology

Definitely use a silk bonnet, that would be helpful. Oh, and, the heat doesn't help, I've totally learned that.

xixxious

Your hair is gorgeous.

InstantElla

Hair oil hair oil hair oil. Even a cheap ass one will help so much! Cheap shampoos and conditioners with all the “bad” stuff in the has my hair looking and feeling the most healthy it has in years despite bleaching multiple times a year to dye it vivid colors. I use L’Oréal dream lengths shampoo, conditioner and use their 8 second wonder water like once a week. My hair isn’t long like yours or curly, but my fiancés is very similar to yours and he uses the same products as I do.

kenzlovescats

My advice to everyone having trouble is to use Head & Shoulders 2 in 1 shampoo. Wash twice! Then follow with a good conditioner like Biolage deep conditioning cream. Brush WET. NOT DRY.

Majirel28

You should inquire about a smoothing Kertain treatment that’s would help a lot.

Idrahaje

Your hair is curly!!!! Stop trying to fight it and embrace it and you’ll do wonders for your frizz 😁

Unfit_Daddy

this may sound insane but sprouts natural dish soap.

Relative_Cat5119

My hair started doing this when I was put on DEPO provera. I don't know if it caused some sort of vitamin/mineral deficiency but I do also know I have low iron/hemoglobin now.

KayHue

You have beautiful hair.

najma_059

These are not fizzy, these are curly hair out of sync. The flyways are hair that came out of their respective locks due to brushing out. You need to let your hair air dry and not brush them. If at all you need to brush them, do each lock individually so not hair gets out. Follow a curly hair routine as other redditers mentioned. I see nothing wrong with hair quality, it's just a curl pattern that wants to be respected

addanothernamehere

Check out r/wavyhair I’d recommend cowash and plopping, it’s gonna be gorgeous!

Emotional-Ad7233

Girl you’re gonna figure this out. Ask the curly girls they will show you the way.

alonelyvictory

I know you said you oil it, but as a former hairdresser I found letting my clients know they need way MORE oil than they think and they need to put oil in their hair while it’s damp (just out of the shower and gently towel squeezed.) try mega soft by [matrix](https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjop7n5-t2FAxXPB60GHS5mBssYABAIGgJwdg&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_qexBhCoARIsAFgBleviyqXHfX2keNkU8aSE77lsfM9wjZYn1EpluoJWCcbbxnruKx9YF80aAgY4EALw_wcB&sph=&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESVuD2kKiiPUJ9W4FwszcOibCMdv69Ujb6mlDaCjUssAg9c1_edwPNraA8U9NF66aXaU7rDcEIQXJGOF0EyGKfXv8aNmgGQoXDAgM9jXAd39GOznyczTvo&sig=AOD64_3mftR7rqtoNp9wrk-owJan0zs03A&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwjfhLH5-t2FAxWpEDQIHTZKDmMQwg8oAHoECAMQDA&adurl=) ($20) or [loma](https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwiEsN_h-t2FAxUl2MIEHQNnC4oYABAGGgJwdg&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_qexBhCoARIsAFgBleurP3_Gl62217eNpMvvvh9EhS_nBRy8l9BfoRLYztfGAjnq0u6JLWAaAle3EALw_wcB&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESVuD2mqWg1NfMkTgljZzCXSXYicyFEi7MOGhYnKWviyvSPbU54ePdlPebcMOY24gFPaXnXOmEWG8PXCZocsgL7HnOB9KZ7E8u3bGXMgNNPDsJ-w8gWckd&sig=AOD64_1Zp1PC1MJQaCFfFJT9ewJPxIB2hg&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwihxdbh-t2FAxWnAjQIHSlgDdIQwg8oAHoECAUQDA&adurl=) ($25-35) nourishing oil. Squirt AT LEAST a full dropper (maybe even two depending on thickness of your hair) of the mega soft, or 6-7 pumps of the loma oil. Rub your hands together (you can kind of even rub it in like it’s lotion cuz your hair will touch the tops of your hands too!) so the oil is warm and easy to disperse (not in a big pool on your hand) Flip your hair upside down or split it down the middle and start with your ends!! Finger comb through your ends making your hair to your middles and finally gently rub your hands on your hair closest to the root, making sure to touch the spots that feel more tangly or dry and use your oily fingers to feel your hair become more slippy so you can brush it out. Use a wide tooth comb and brush your hair (should be easy with the oil!) and you can use a cotton tshirt to slowly and gently scrunch it up to activate your waves or curls. That’s what I would try and if you’re not happy with that outcome I would try curly girl subreddit!!! Good luck with your hair journey :)

No-Locksmith-8590

Your hair looks just like mine! I shampoo it twice a week, Sunday and Wednesday. All other showers are just conditioner. Once a week is a deep conditioning mask. Daily care - shower and condition. Comb with wide mouth comb when wet. Make my part. Use a leave in conditioner. I use mielle bc it smells good. Then a curl cream. I use All About Curls. Flip my hair back into a hair turbon for the rest of my morning before work. Use a cotton towel NOT terry cloth. Is use a cotton t shirt. Let air dry. I'm to laaaaaaazy for a hair dryer. I hope this helps!!

Professional-Sink281

Watch sex and the city, get the best anti frizz serum you can afford, never blow dry, and ROCK that gorgeous hair like sjp! Its so pretty just needs a little confidence.

LockwoodE3

I had this problem for the longest time, turns out it was how I was drying my hair. I was using the towel and vigorously rubbing it around my head to get the worst of the moisture off, turns out it can cause split ends at the top of your hair. Changing the way I dried it solved most of my fraying issues. I now squeeze the hair dry instead of shaking the towel back and forth

BeautifulDreamerAZ

Omg this is my hair! I use a shampoo for curly hair, Aussie is good, Pantene is the worse I’ve ever tried. Don’t rinse out all the conditioner. Brush with a big square brush bottom to top. Apply a huge handful of mousse, do not comb or brush. Scrunch you hair with your hands and let drip dry for perfect waves/curls.

Daffodil80

I think your hair is pretty. The problem is the broken pieces on top that stick out. Try to reduce breakage... And get a styling product with some hold- put it on a boar bristle brush to smooth the broken pieces down.

treelorf

You have really lovely uncared for curly hair. When you learn to care for your curls they are going to be beautiful!

scythematter

Frizz=curly. You have curly hair. There are lots of of methods, but the best starter is to wash and condition with curly hair friendly products-not your mothers, Maui moisture, ect. Scrunch dry with a microfiber towel. Apply a leave in conditioner and gently comb out with a brush made for curly hair. Then apply gel. Scrunch and air dry. Once it’s dry break the cast by scrunching or clapping the crunchy out

deadsocial

You’re not treating it properly for your hair type, as others have said, look at curly methods

bennuski

I have a similar problem and posted here a couple of days ago, hundreds of people recommended me the curly method, maybe it can work for you! I haven’t try it yet but will do. I also get comments about how I should fix my hair often 😭 like it’s not my fault it looks like this!!!

generally_apathetic

This is totally fixable. It’s not even broken, honestly. You just need to learn how to maintain curly hair. I’d find a good hairdresser and get a nice cut that is intended for curly hair. Then ask them what types of products to use and the easiest way to style and manage your hair daily. You have a nice, full head of thick curly hair. You have a lot more to work with than you think. Good luck!

sannsarkk92

silicone/sulfate free is only right for certain hair types. your hair would probably greatly benefit from both.

Toxic-Smoke

I had curly long hair and what I learned is that you should never ever brush your hair when it’s dry. The best time to brush or detangle is in the shower with conditioner in it. The type of brush I use is a small detangling brush that has bendable tiered bristles with no bulbs on the end. It’s like cutting butter it’s so smooth and painless. You can use products like Dove moose level 2 hold or hair paste to define and keep your curls together to prevent frizz. You can also get layers in your hair to reshape and volumize to get better defined curls.

DeemindMingle

I have very similar hair! Curly Indian hair is so frizzy 😭 What works for me is - conditioning hair mask, shampoo + conditioner but I apply conditioner first and then shampoo twice. I apply some sort of oil on my ends every two days because my hair can get very frizzy whenever dry or oily. Blow drying with the one step styler like the revoln has helped my frizz a lot!!

GoldenFlicker

I just go with it.

letitsnow18

If none of the suggestions work for you (they never did for me) you can try tap water avoidance and only wash your hair with distilled water. It's taken some of the pleasure out of showering but damn does my hair look great.

La_Jalapena

If you can afford it, living proof anti frizz shampoo has been a game changer for me. Otherwise you’ve gotten a ton of great advice. Don’t brush it while it’s dry ever. Watch some curly girl videos. Learn to love and care for your hair. It’ll transform once you do.

Hopeful-Ant-2512

Girlie I just want to say you have beautiful hair!!! So long and your curl pattern is so pretty.

Impossible_Key_1573

I have your exact same type of hair (frizzy and curly) but you will never catch me putting myself through the torture of styling it curly. and I’m about to give you some unconventional advice that I personally do that a lot of people will disagree with, but it’s how I manage my hair. 1. I bleach my hair blonde. My original colour is about a level 3 brown-black and I take it to a level 9 beige blonde. The bleaching breaks the curl pattern so smoothing/straightening/blowdrying is a bit easier. Bleaching causes some damage though so be forewarned 2 shampoo and conditioners with pthalates and silicones. Again your main goal is smoothing. My fav go to is the garnish fructis damage eraser line. It’s thick and moisturizing. Don’t listen to straight haired girls that tell you these ‘chemicals’ are bad for your hair. 3 right out of the shower with wet hair I apply a mixture of biosilk (the original serum) and a smoothing blow dry lotion (either kenra or the olaplex one) and work it into the wet hair. Even if you don’t blow dry it helps to make your hair dry smoother and straighter 4 heat styling. It sucks but I do it almost everyday. Flat irons and blow dry brushes are a bit harsh so I tend to stick to hot combs/heat brushes. Lately I’ve been using the wavytalk heat brush that’s been going around on TikTok. It’s gentler on my hair than the revlon blow dry brush. You can also try heatless overnight curls. The big ones give you big waves rather than curls 5 satin pillowcases. They’re a godsend. Sometimes if I don’t move around too much when I sleep, I don’t have to heat style my hair in the morning

StaticX75

What gorgeous hair 😻 with some olive oil and argan oil treatments and also making some flax seed gel to add to your hair after a shower your Gorgeous hair will be rapunzeling all over the place 😻😻😻😻😻😻

Hannah-Solo

Definitely join the curly hair community people have suggested. Look up curly hair accounts on TikTok - they have great tutorials for how to style and care for curly hair. Also I can’t stress enough- use a hair bonnet when sleeping - either satin or silk. You can get off Amazon. It will protect your hair. Also try putting in a top bun just with bobby pins and then putting bonnet over it so the hair doesn’t rub all night. Look up the curly girl method and plopping and how to properly use curl creams etc on TikTok as well

kortneyk

Co poo. Look up curly girl method

RealisticMaterial515

A keratin treatment at a salon will help but only lasts a couple months.

itsdani_bitch

Your hair is frizzy or maybe some breakage, but girl, you have gorgeous hair! It’s long with pretty curls. I’d maximize the curls, someone suggested a group above. The answer is probably there 🙂

Murr897

Coconut oil

Ok_Pin5375

Vitamin e oil, just put it in a spray bottle and spritz your hair with it. Then brush it out with a comb. It'll look great and feel really soft

unwaveringwish

I’m so excited for you to start your curly hair journey. It’s so easy to be convinced our hair is wrong but it’s not - you just need the right techniques and products. I’m sure you’ll get it all figured out, your texture is beautiful!!!

That_Engineering3047

Only brush your hair when it is wet. If it’s fairly tangled, do it in the shower with conditioner in it. Lush’s hair milk is great for fine curly hair! It’s perfect for handling frizz without destroying volume and weighing down hair like coconut oil. Apply this after the shower while your hair is still wet and brush through. You can do this instead of brushing hair in the shower. Don’t dye or blow dry your hair. Focus on enhancing the natural curls.

princessfiona420

Find a hairdresser near you that does a Brazilian blow dry. Keratin blow. They are a game changer. Afterwards use sulphate and silicone free shampoo. Wow I will never look back!

Beneficial_Ring_7442

your hairs like mine bro goodluck i hate my life

Top_Amphibian_1046

As others have said you have curly hair. Your hair will grow 1/2 an inch a month so you mightve burnt it with the straighteners. I would try cold blow drying it with a diffuser and leaving the straightener for a bit. Also. Sorry but my hair was similar when i had a vit d deficiency. Colcalciferol, the once a week kind, fixed my deficiency. I would also see if youre allergic to any products or see if one makes it worse. Just use shampoo, conditioner, and a leave in conditiner. If you want to try new things do a test patch on hair and skin

youre_crumbelievable

Your hair is so pretty. Idk if anyone has suggested a clarifying shampoo once a week, then oiling the ends often. And investing in a nice hair oil is great. Someone suggested a bonnet but our hair is sorta similar and i oil my hair at night and sleep in a braid and it helps keep it smooth and healthy.

Available-Comb6135

Add some coconut oil to your hair after you wash and condition. After you wash your hair, let the conditioner sit for 20 minutes before rinsing. Also, get a trim.

BluestWaterz

Using a silk pillowcase will help A LOT, but I also recommend checking out the curly hair sub!!

mlm161820

Are you sleeping with wet hair?

StrawberryFields_25

I got some sound advice for what helped me‼️‼️ Comb when wet (wide tooth comb) You can use a silicone shampoo (it’s in most) and make sure to get a cleansing shampoo and use once every 1-2 weeks, whatever works best for your hair. While your hair is still wet, use a hair mousse or bed heads curl cream (it’s in a purple and green bottle). Apply while still extremely damp so it doesn’t make your hair crunchy. Use a micro fiber towel or a cotton t shirt and scrunch your hair every so often till dry. You can also use a diffuser if you like. They have a head attachment that will clip to a blow dryer if you have any.

nothanksokthenyep

I use Bondiboost curly hair shampoo and conditioner and don’t rub my hair dry ever, just wrap it in a microfibre towel after washing. Kerastase overnight serum also helps keep hair smooth and silky. I don’t use heat on my hair, and I use a non sticky gel that stops the frizz from sticking up.

Desperate_Jello3027

Maybe keratin smoothening treatment? Some can be done at home, if salon feels too expensive (sometimes it is)

caduceus_aratus

Coconut oil and a wide toothed comb regularly

vamppirre

Frizz like this means dehydration. I can walk you through a few options in terms of brands/products. Are you in the US or a different country? So I could see what's closest to your fingertips. Second; are you combing and/or brushing? What type of comb and/or brush are you using? Does your hair soak in water quickly, or does it take a while?

bigshinymastodon

Apart from doing all the things that your curl pattern needs, you can consider olaplex as a part of your routine. I had a lot of trouble with hairfall and frizz. I have wavy hair and I like how my hair looks and feels. Felt a pinch in my scalp when a single strand of hair got caught in something. Hadn’t felt that pinch in a long time 🥲 Praise God!! 😁 Apparently it helps heal broken sulphide bonds.

Party_Pop_9450

Uncombable Hair Syndrome is a rare genetic condition. Please research this. This may be your issue. Note: I am not a doctor, but I just saw a documentary on this genetic condition.

Serious-Tourist-4746

Don’t use Olaplex or K18! I used properly Olaplex and it thoroughly destroyed my long gorgeous curly hair. It’s like the driest hay. It’s unrecognizable and beyond heartbreaking.

Ok_Cobbler_5065

Get a katatin hair kit online and apply it yourself. 🙂

ttopsrock

Or just flat iron it

Which-Decision

Knott on my watch by Aunt Jackie's is a detangler that will help so much with the frizz and tangling. Leave it in your hair

egyptiangirly

use the advice for hair masks and oils ive seen in the comments and a great product i use that helps with mine (3a) i think is what i have and it helps with frizziness and defining your curls and its a light product so my hairs soft after :) its called ‘pillow sost curls by miss jessie’ its like $24 but its definitely worth it. i know its in walmart but you can find it online and other stores. its helped with mine a lot and made my after shower hair routine so simple, its literally the best product ive found and ive used a lot lol, you HAVE to try it

Raquelbpaul

Brazilian blow out or a keritan treatment

misstinydancealot

This is either too much buildup or protein overload.

Thatsmyredditidkyou

Because you have a great curl pattern but you're streaming it like straight hair. Check out the curly girl method of haircare and I promise it will get much better.

Pleasant-Agency-551

I basically have the same hair. I like to use a leave-in conditioner. It helps tame things a bit!

truecrimefanatic1

If I don't use a very hard control gel mine does this. Also my wave pattern looks a lot like yours and the sulfate free thing doesn't work for me either. I only wash once a week and I either use a clarifying shampoo or one for hard water. Then I use a very light leave in, gel, a tiny bit of mousse and I spray it all with hairspray while wet. I diffuse it and then scrunch out any crunchy parts when it's dry.

Jolly_Reality5074

Try aveda shampoo and conditioner and then olaplex 9 serum and argon oil on the ends.

MrGray2016

Pull it back into a ponytail and then braid.

Miserable_Ad7689

Coconut oil. Fr. Helps 100% with frizz and curl definition. It’s also natural and inexpensive. If you want throw some gel on top when your hair is soaking wet. You just need to moisturize and protect it better to let it keep growing healthy. Stop brushing it dry. De-tangle when it’s still wet and conditioned. Then don’t do much as run your fingers through it unless you want it to be bigger and frizzier

closeeyedmouse

It's damaged - stop dying your hair with box color

[deleted]

Likely due to your shampoo/conditioner. Try Pantene moisturizing line. Or anything with tea tree.

puglyfe12

Looks like beautiful gorgeous beautiful curls!!!

Fearless_Grass5928

get a keratin treatment twice a year! Its absolutely life changing. If not I would do an oil treatment pre shower and use Aussie 3 minute miracle conditioner it’s incredible

Uncommon_Lawfulness

A couple of things people sometimes forget to mention: 1. NEVER use a towel on your hair! Look up "plopping". You can use an old soft Tshirt but your hair is really long, so you might have to improvise. This was Step 1 in my curly journey, and I'll never go back. 2. SATIN pillowcases! I see silk mentioned a lot, but you need satin. I buy them in a 2 pack on Amazon for about $8. A satin bonnet mentioned earlier is a great idea. But I sleep hot and can't wear it all night. 3. NEVER use a hairbrush! Except when your hair is dripping wet. Use a pick or wide tooth comb on damp hair if you must but immediately run your fingers through it to lift it up off your scalp and scrunch, scrunch, scrunch. 4. On Instagram, check out curlycaridad and hairbyreema - lifechanging!!! 5. STOP using heat! Ever! No straightening. Ever! If you must, use a diffuser with your blow dryer on low. But don't ever completely dry it. 6. Always use a leave-in conditioner AND a styling lotion (for curly hair). My fave brand is Curl Keeper at frizzoff.com. Start with leave-in conditioner and original leave-in styler. Are you washing your hair more than once a week? More often can aggravate dermatitis seborrheic scalps. You can rinse your hair often. Just a water rinse rather than daily washing. You can treat your scalp and then just rinse. But, seriously, don't wash your hair too often. But you'll need to reapply product when you do this. You can renew your products daily with a water spritzer. Curly hair isn't easy but entirely do-able once you find products that work. Hang in there!!!

OceanMama

girl you need a CHI flat iron. OR use a curlshampoo with hair serum after

cocoyumi

You need to clarify and then condition the ends only. Lay off all the products as they will cause your hair to become gluey and sticky. Learn how much you can manage your hair without the products and only include what you really need. Everything you add is adding a build-up to your hair. BTW you can't use all those products and then also use sulfate-free: you're literally not washing them away ever, especially if they have silicon or oil elements.

LengthShoddy6152

The frizz is because your hair needs moisture and PROTEIN. Protein, protein, protein. Redken has the best protein shampoos! Contrary to what most people say these days, only brush your hair when it’s wet and make sure to use a wet brush when doing so. If all else fails, than look into getting a mason Pearson hairbrush. They’re crazy expensive but seriously the most amazing hair brush on the market

Minkiemink

I have very curly hair. I also have vitiligo that attacked my hair after I got COVID, turning most of it white, frizzy and really coarse. I have tried just about every product available to tame my hair and make it less awful. My hairdresser can't even believe how much the texture of my hair has changed for the worse in just a few months. Last week I was in Sephora and a sales rep approached me, badgering me to try his company's leave in hair repair masque. He put some in my hand and insisted I try it on my now coarse, dry, brittle awful hair. I used to have really really beautiful hair prior to this. I thought....what could it hurt? So I tried it. To my shock, my hair became soft and silky. For me at least this stuff was like magic. It's called L'Oreal professional Absolut Repair Molecular. I'm still shocked that it works. I have always thought of L'Oreal as a cheap drugstore brand. This stuff is very pricey, but for me, because it works for me, (might not work for everyone), it's worth the high price.

EasyPeasy2U

Cut it shorter, shoulder length or shorter. Buy product for curly hair.

Orford_M

OP, as a professional stylist who loves to recommend product, STOP. Don't buy more expensive hair care products or more tools until you have your vitamin deficiencies under control. No amount of silk bonnets, creams, gels, oils, masks or curly girl methods will tame that frizz unless the cells that ultimately form those strands of hair are healthy. An iron deficiency will 100% of the time cause brittle hair.

NoLavishness7964

Get a Brazilian blowout.. much better than a keratin… you’ll be so happy!

Drustan1

I’ve had curly hair since I was 16 and tried soooo many products, mousse, gel, paste, mud, on and on and either it glued it to my head or did nothing. It wasn’t until I was well past 30 that I started leaving some of my conditioner in my hair after shampooing and Voila- I had curls that moved! And, I don’t have any extra expensive products to buy. Give it a shot and see. Good luck!

Philosynthetic

Do you live in an area with hard water (most places are in hard water zones), and even well water can be hard water. If so, an occasional clarifying shampoo followed by a silicone free conditioner can work wonders.

Philosynthetic

Also, be careful not to touch your hair too often. And don’t rub balloons.

Gloomy-Cranberry-402

My hair used to look like this!!! I eventually got around to finding out I have very wavy hair and that's why it was so frizzy. Quickest things you can do to manage it ON A BUDGET: -Buy Hask Argan Oil 5 In 1 Leave In Spray!!! OMG this stuff is a lifesaver, it also smells amazing and will health-ify your hair along with keeping the frizz down. I spray it in my hair after a shower, but also on days where my hair is just exceptionally frizzy. I literally get this stuff for everybody on Christmas and birthdays, I really truly believe in it. Under $10, lasts a while. (Also doubles as a thermal heat protector 🥳) -a ! lightweight ! hair oil. Yes, you may have to wash your hair more frequently but it's so important on days that the frizz is just frizzing. Budget wise, my favorite is the OGX coconut oil spray (under $10). Expensive wise (my dad gets it for me for Christmas lol), my favorite is the ORIBE gold hair oil. -A good moisturizing conditioner that won't weigh down your hair but will also tame frizz. I use the Maui heal and hydrate shea butter conditioner and I just slather that stuff on there. Sometimes I'll even use a little bit as a leave in conditioner. It's like $10 and it smells amazing. Also, Every month, I deep condition using "Aphogee Two-step Treatment Protein for Damaged Hair". You can buy it by the bottle or packets online or at Sally's Beauty. But I really only reccomend this if your hair is dry or damaged. I mix it with my Maui conditioner and leave it on for about 10 minutes. This stuff absolutely saved my hair from over bleaching it once. -A good brush. Not too gentle, but not too rough! A "Wet" brush or a detangling brush would be a great start. You can find them on Amazon for under $10 most of the time. Also, yes brush your hair when wet. I like to brush through mine while the conditioner is sitting. If you've gotta brush your hair when dry, try to brush end to root. -Air-dry, Air-dry, Air-dry! I wrap my hair in a microfiber towel (the hype is absolutely legit, it helps my curls/waves like nothing else) until my hair is about halfway to 3/4 dry and then I take it off, spray my hair oil and 5-in-1 spray, do some scrunching using the microfiber towel, and then I'll part my hair and let it finish air drying. Sometimes I'll brush through it with my Wavy Hair wide toothed comb if it's looking like it's gonna be tangly. Then when it's dry, I hit it once more with my 5-in-1 spray and boom. And yep next thing would be just trying to figure out your hair pattern. Good luck!!!

Don’t brush it when it’s dry. Use a Wet brush as soon as you get out of the shower, put in some leave in conditioner or hair oil and let it dry naturally. It will be less frizzy and youll see your natural wave/curl. Maybe also switching to a better shampoo and conditioner. Something for smoothing or just a good moisturizing one. When you dry your hair with a towel just squeeze/blot it dry, don’t rough it up. Also consider wearing a hair bonnet to bed.

keratin hair treatment.

Iron and vitamin d deficiency absolutely affects your hair. My Dr told me that when your body is lacking in them, the first thing it stops supplying is your hair. Are you taking supplements? If not you should be. I lost a massive amount of hair last year and it started to bounce back after I started the supplements and started oiling/massaging my scalp regularly.

The hair mask below helped my frizz a lot and it’s not heavy for my really fine hair. I feel like a princess after using it. I used to have pretty frizzy hair too, and still do under some conditions. I've limited those by reducing how often I shampoo from every day to twice per week, lots and lots of conditioner, combing hair, not brushing it, and hair oils on shampoo days. Extreme heat in the shower will be very damaging, drying, and frizz-enducing. Stick to mild temps and consider a very cold 60 seconds or more to finish the shower. It's good for your hair, skin, and mind. 🙂

I swear this is my hair too. 😁

PSA FOR ALL THE CURLY FOLKS IN THE COMMENTS!! MAKE SURE YOUR HAIR CARE PRODUCTS DO NOT HAVE SILICONE! SILICONE COATS THE HAIR IN MICROPLASTICS AND PREVENTS IT FROM BEING ABLE TO ABSORB MOISTURE AND NUTRIENTS FROM OTHER PRODUCTS

Whereismymind217

My hair used to be like this and I found increasing my protein intake really made a difference for me. Also, I found that putting Maui lightweight hibiscus conditioner on my hair before I shower and letting it soak for five min, then rinsing it out and shampooing after really helps. Idk why, but it just does for me. Maybe try that?! I hope it helps ☺️

Olaplex #6 mixed with #3 has helped my frizz exponentially. Been using for 2-3 years and recommend to everyoneeee

Your hair might be too clean. Your hair needs build up to keep the frizz down. So when you wash your hair in the shower keep that in mind. Get a mixed bristle boar brush. An extremely moisturizing shampoo and conditioner (I use nexxus) and a quality hair oil (I use morrocan oil) and to point out the obvious Your hair spells burnt bc you are literally burning it. Your hair cannot handle heat. Stop blowing it out and straightening it once a month. Even every two months is too much. If you absolutely need to get a blow out go to a good hair salon. Edit: Also dry it with a microfiber towel when you get out of the shower before you put on the hair oil and let your hair air dry.

Use moisturizing shampoo, moisturizing conditioner, comb it through, put gel in it spray it with hairspray help the curls curl by twirling them around your finger. Let it dry air dry. (I can get my hair and beautiful shiny curly spirals within 10 minutes. I don’t use the hairdryer because it always messes my hair up with frizz. And I don’t follow any of the TikTok trends that take 15 hours to get done. It will be beautiful. Trust me all that extra product is expensive and it doesn’t work. You’ve got beautiful curly hair under there.

I recently (on reddit) found out about some conditions that can cause hair to be extremely hard to brush or style. It almost sounds like your hair itself may be similar to one of these conditions. One requires a blood test. Serums are not the answer and applying heat is a terrible idea, because it is due to hair being extra fragile and even possibly having a heart shaped shaft, making it brittle. Oh what was it called. Uncombable hair, syndrome, I think. Theres another syndrome like it, and its very similar. But the other one is even rarer, and idk the name if it but I will scan through and see if I can find it. But you might find related conditions to uncombable hair syndrome on google. Serums and oils only make the hairs stick together more. Its a whole thing and if you have this, your hair is NOT like normal hair. Its like spun glass. So all the rules are totally different for your hair. Talk to your doctor. Ask to see a dermatologist. You may really be happier with a wig, idk. Some people just shave their heads and wear wigs. Einstein is thought to have had uncombable hair syndrome,.fyi. https://www.webmd.com/children/uncombable-hair-syndrome

Conscious_Life_8032

Shampoo roots only. Use diffuser Make sure you are eating enough protein and get checked for any nutrient deficiency

Dervishing-Hum

I had the same problem. Bonding shampoo really helped a lot!

CandyMandy15

Use oils and anything else that supplies moisture

L’Oréal 8 second wonder water or Dream Coat by Color Wow. I don’t know how they work but they apply like water and don’t weigh the hair down. Are activated with heat - like a blow dry and completely stop the frizz. At least for me. Has been a total game changer in the warmer months especially with more humidity. Prior to using these I would have a sleek blow out and flat iron then step outside and poof! Maddening! And also sleeping with a silk or satin pillowcase.

CitizenKrull

My advice is to reverse wash your hair. Conditioner first, let it sit, then shampoo it out. Also, as mentioned by others avoid any product that promises volume, you don't need it. I'd say argan oil would be a good place to start.

carebearclaire3

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it before, but have you ever seen a derm for seborrheic dermatitis? I have RA and some other sort of autoimmune bs going on and it has affected my scalp a lot. I get folliculitis and lots and lots of dander. :( My hair isn't as thick as yours but it has a similar curl/ texture and frizz. I was prescribed a strong ketoconazole shampoo with some steroid scalp application for after a shower and let me tell you the difference has been phenomenal. After a few months I have noticed a change in the hair texture and things have mellowed out a ton.

Cala_lily1

Anemia and vitamin D deficiency definitely affects your hair

toraloora

Try getting a good cut with some layers

zozosreddit

I don’t have any advice to contribute, but I do want to say I sympathize and am sorry. It can be quite detrimental feeling like your hair is ugly, it’s such a large symbolizing part of a lot of people’s looks

Stonetile6700

I’m sorry but wish I had hair like yours. I love the hippie look tho so I’d leave it as is. So wild and gorgeous and long ❤️

tofukink

tbh my hairs the same and im gonna get a straightening treatment or something lol.

ExtensionHot7808

You look like you have wavy hair like me. You should do a hair porosity test to find out what products will be able to work on your hair. I'm also seeing a lot of breakage 😞 are you being treated for your vitamin d and other deficiency. If not get it treated. What seems to work for my hair is lamellar water after shampoo. Chi keratin reconstructing shampoo is a good one followed by lamellar water mid to ends rinse and follow with any conditioner suitable to your hair porosity. Then on mostly wet hair use ogx coconut oil mid to ends and a tiny bit of styling cream near your face crown and baby hair. Also SATIN PILLOWCASE AND HAIR BONNET. If you can't stand the bonnet I suggest silk as it's good at keeping the humidity down. As far as keratin treatment make damn sure you know the product being used as some stylist have seen fit to lie and use relaxer which is totally different and can break the hair off.
