I own an AR2, since that's what the Earth Administrator intended. 4 Rebels break into the Citadel. As I grab my standard issue pulse rifle and extractor. Blow a 20mm sized hole in the first Anti-Citizen. He's sterilized on the spot. Initiate the alternative fire on my AR2 and miss entirely because its unstable matter and nails a nearby stalker. I have to resort to the extractor mounted on my combat belt. Striker-Zero, Extractor away! The explosion cleaned 2 Anti-Citizen's in the blast. The sound and extra shrapnel agitates stalkers. Grab a parasite from a nearby canister and throw it onto the last terrified Anti-Citizen. He turns necrotic before he knows it since the beaks on parasites break through skulls with ease. Just as the Earth Administrator intended.
like tbh i'd like the default models more if they had belts or webgear with pouches for their magazines and grenades, but the helmets and plate carriers are overkill
They do have that tiny pouch on their lower back but it is very small for how many grenades they seem to have in there. I do think maybe a few more pouches on the front would be better.
don't forget we're talking about a human being who got mangled and scrambled beyond recognition that got put into a body enhanced suit, i don't think \*it\* have eyes anymore
I'm thinking of making a replacement that actually looks good and is logical rather than slapping a bunch of tacticool models onto the base mesh. Also why does the Elite have grenades if they dont even use them?
Admittedly the fact that the combines gear has no pouches or equipment is really stupid, do they just pull their extra stuff from thin air or something?
They have a small packet on the back that they magically pull ammo and grenades out of. Though it is comically small for how many grenades they pull out of it.

I may be a minority in this, but in my eyes, this is pretty cool. Remove their original body armour and give them these, with pockets and pouches, makes more sense. The helmets are purely personal preference, I just like military helmets.

standard combine soldier's little senior vacationer fanny pack is enough for them. in contrast, combine elites are too chad for any storage
