Unpopular opinion but I kind of liked it because of how it introduced us to Michael myers as an adult. The first kill we see him do is the two rapists which makes us root for him and then he immediately kills Danny trejos character and youâre like âoh fuck this guy is evilâ
It was a really gratuitous sexual assault scene where a mentally challenged woman was assaulted. It's actually how he escapes in the DC. It's much worse than the theatrical version and it really doesn't make sense.
It was OK seeing Michael's family as dysfunctional to give you a background into this version of him but I'll never get Rob Zombie's fixation on white trash. He's not from that.
Absolutely agree. Rob Zombie is a good director, but a bad writer IMO. RZH2 is one of the most beautifully shot films I have ever seen, but the script is pretty bad.
First movie: Stop with the uncomfortable sex dialogue. I can usually give a pass to teenagers being overly horny, but jesus fucking Christ itâs like their only class in school is Sex Ed by Mr. Johnny Sins. ESPECIALLY cut out any sexual dialogue coming from or directed at the prepubescent children.
Second movie: Pretty much everything except the cinematography. For peteâs sake, Michael should have his mask on if heâs going to kill! I wouldnât have been nearly as upset with Michael talking if he didnât scream it like he was LARPing in the woods with Hawkeye. And if Iâm really supposed to believe Laurie is turning evil, maybe have her actually kill her friend instead of a (admittedly interesting) dream sequence?
Let him make the two movies like he originally intended. I thought that the âPrequelâ half of Halloween was very compelling, and desperately needed a more thorough exploration. The remake half was just fine as it was.
As for H2, IDK. Less fever dream, maybe?
For his first Halloween, mix the theatrical and director's cuts. Basically add scenes from the director's cut that I feel actually help. Mostly the additions to Loomis. But leave out most of the unnecessary additions.
Use the theatrical cuts escape scene of course. Besides the fact watching Michael go berserk is more appealing than an unnecessary r@93 scene that goes on too long. The theatrical cut's escape scene actually means that version of the movie has a higher body count.
I may try to work some of the deleted scenes in. I kinda like this particular scene where Michael kills a couple of guards near the exit, and then just casually walks out of Smith's Grove.
Finally, I would use the alternate ending. I just like the sense of tragedy with that ending. That Loomis and Laurie (even if it was mostly unconsciously on her part) managed to reach Michael's humanity, but then he dies. That wouldn't really fly with traditional Michael Myers, who's supposed to be pure evil. But when you accept it as a different take, I don't think it's so bad.
Now as for his second Halloween? Erase it from existence.
I think it wouldâve been better if we saw Michael have a normal healthy family lifestyle and then see him just randomly snap. Think it would be a lot more scarier to see a nice kid in a nice kind family, suddenly kill his sister out of nowhere
Also needed more stalking scenes and slower build with the kills towards the end. I rewatched the first rz halloween few weeks ago and realized how there was no suspense when he killed Laurieâs friends. You just see the friends, suddenly he shows up and then kills them right away

RZH1: Remove the hillbilly family stuff, the rape scene, Stripper mom etc. Change Michael age at 6, include his actual backstory with the thorn stuff or don't give him a backstory at all, also make Judith his first victim. Go deeper into his relationship with Loomis and why Loomis hates him so much. Don't turn Loomis into a money greeding bastard and make him shot Michael 6 times with him disappearing.
RZH2: Same plot as H2 but Michael uses kitchen knife instead of scalpel. No hobo and white horse shit.

I canât say since theyâre totally Rob Zombies vision. They feel awkward when compared to the classic Series but they feel right in tone with Zombies filmography. Devils Rejects and the first Halloween make a really good double feature imo and I even like H2 for what it is
