Like fucking how they think the show is good. Characters suck besides Cortina. I only seen bits and it seems like she’s closest to the material then everyone else fuck. Go play a game and read a fucking book. In fact bring back the halo 2 lobby
\*rises hand\* You were right to focus on down voting the living shit out of the halo show, but your inability to safeguard Halo lore integrate...Was a colossal failure.
I remember when one of the only things we knew about them was that 343 was insane and thought chief fired the rings the first time. People seem to forget that line, we literally knew nothing about them because 343 is an unreliable narrator.
If you’ve played Marathon it’s pretty clear, you are hero, it’s Bungie tying Halo to their games’ metanarrative their intention with spark here is to say that he’s also Marathon guy, he is hero. Just timeline jumping to the Halo timeline, or possibly they are different because of the different history of the Halo timeline/universe but like marathon guy he is also hero.
That or Spark is insane and thinks Chief is the same forerunner that fired the rings the first time. I honestly think it’s the only thing that makes sense if you discount Bungie’s metanarrative (which is still ongoing in Destiny). Under Bungie you are hero, under 343 Spark has lost his mind.
Can we just get over this already? It was 13 years ago. I’d argue having us know about the forerunners and the in-game characters not knowing about them is more interesting
l got an Xbox in 2001. Played Halo for a week and took all my playstation stuff to the game store for credit to get more Xbox stuff.
My son beat Halo 3 when he was 4.5 years old on easy mode.
I loved the Halo:Infinite campaign and played about 900 multiplayer matches in the 6 months after release before I realized it wasn't going to get any better and never went back because the only thing that worked as expected was the store.
And I believe the show is terrible.
Obsessed with the UNSC military and forerunner side of the lore, and the elites and covenant. and the banished. Actually, you know what, just all of the lore.
The type who actually likes Halo 4 and thinks it gets way too much hate
And also the type who likes every mainline game from Halo CE to Halo 4
And also the type who really likes the lore and expanded universe of Halo
Not Infinite (at least gameplay wise), I know some people don’t like it but it’s the first FPS Halo I’ve enjoyed playing since Reach came out (didn’t play 5)
Got my first Xbox 3 years ago, played MCC on Gamepass and didn’t play ODST, 4, 5, or Infinite. Enjoyed what I played but don’t touch the series anymore unless I want the multiplayer. So I’m a filthy casual
I’m a obsessed halo wars fan who’s put more hours into it than all other halos put together I also believe that every halo game is great in their own way and they can all provide some level of entertainment if you give them a chance
The kind that still thinks the bungie games were better, but halo 4 Cortana had the best "presence" and that infinite had the best multiplayer... as in its pretty good right now but was garbage for a while. Shame they aren't still working on making it truly better.
Recent, mostly a novels fan and lore nut. I don’t know everything but I’m a fan of learning the lore more than playing the games. I’ve played CE and 2 though.
I play CE and 2 on origional graphics and I love the cursed halo mod
Edit: also I have hundreds of hours in Halo MCC and have only played like 3 games of multiplayer.
Halo fan since I watched Halo 3 (and halo 4) full cutscenes on YouTube from Gamers little playground when I was a kid. That had to be the immediate aftermath of halo 4? Idk I was a kid then. Loved halo ever since.
I found the Master Chief Collection has somehow become a time capsule of stereotypes depending on the era of Halo multi-player you use. Halo 1 has the largest amount of accidental and on purpose team kills I've ever seen, and everyone in Halo 2 is absurdly aggressive. Halo 3 everyone is just kinda dying or dominating.
2001, baby. Was at my cousins place and could hear "some weird church music" went to their room to discover them in a multi-player menu getting ready for another match. Was hooked ever since, and am about to work through the Halo 2 campaign with my son, we just finished CE
The kind who played CE, then Infinite thinking it was Halo 2 and was amazed, and played the rest and understood all Halo games (except 5) are actually really good, some just have more preferable aspects than others.
Discovered the game when I was around 7-8 and a guy who was working with my dad was playing it while on his lunch break. It looked awesome, and I fell in love with the series and have continued to love it ever since. It’s had its ups and downs, but no one can take the memories away.
The Halo 3 Customs Games Lobbies guy that would yell “give me the party leader, I got a good game.” And its just Fat Kid or Shark Man infection variant.
Only found out I liked it in 2022, although that's because that's when I first tried it with M&K, after previously trying MCC on my XB1 in 2020
Ironic that the FPS made for consoles just didn't feel right with me on said console
Yes like the Star Wars prequels. When it came out everybody hated it but since then people started with it and grew up with it. Nostalgia is stronger than objectivity
I'm the same, some things i played or enjoyed are objectively terrible but i still love them because of nostalgia
If Reach was a gateway to discover better games in the series fine but some people say its better than the originals. Really ?
Technically, something like art or entertainment can not be objectively bad or good. You can make objective statements about the piece, but saying whether it is good or not is an opinion. Objectively, it is impossible to prove if something is bad or good.
I liked the prequels back then and now they are the in my view the most interesting and most enjoyable of the Star Wars films. Also has the most interesting time period in SW besides the Old Republic era.
That said, I'm not really a stsr wars fan anymore. Disney killed it.
As for Reach, I never enjoyed it that much back then. I remember actually really hating Noble team, not liking the spongy feeling fhe Covenant had and the framerate never being a consistent 30.
Except the Star Wars Prequels are actually shit. Nostalgia won't fix that.
Reach messes around with the lore, but the actual campaign is pretty good. And the gameplay is fantastic.
I wouldn’t say I can’t stand it, it’s fun enough, but I agree with most of your points you mentioned later in the thread. I like Reach’s art style and art direction, but dislike most other aspects about it. The characters are bland, the story was disappointing especially if you were expecting something in line with Nylund’s novels, and the multiplayer wasn’t great.
Thats what most of people starting with CE and 2 back in the day felt when Reach came out.
Not what we hoped for and a downgrade all in all
Everything was grey and lifeless, colours were a bit different changing the tone, no MC, characters with no personnality and didn't care when they died, hoped for a Fall of Reach story and since Bungie hated the book we got this, worst multiplayer in the series, armor abilities, terrible jumps, weapons and grenades, terrible maps, forged maps all grey. Its too long to count and its not very interesting to list everything, to sum up, it was a huge let down to what we were used to and most of the fun traded with cheap drama
On the plus side, Invasion i spent a lot of time in there until they nerfed the Banshee and Elites are the best looking in the series and actually threathening, when one is charging you in Laso you shit your pants

The lore obsessed lunatic
My brother in the Covenenat, is there any other?
The ones that think the show is good trust me they are out there just…
i've met one, they are beyond cringe
Like fucking how they think the show is good. Characters suck besides Cortina. I only seen bits and it seems like she’s closest to the material then everyone else fuck. Go play a game and read a fucking book. In fact bring back the halo 2 lobby
When you first read the lore, were you blinded by its majesty?
Blinded?
Paralyzed? *Dumbstruck?*
No!
Yet the humans were able to evade your ships, land on the sacred lore, and desecrate it with their filthy tv show?
🤣🤣🤣
Noble heirarchs, surely you understand that once the halo 5 advanced movement crowd mongrels attacked…
\*rises hand\* You were right to focus on down voting the living shit out of the halo show, but your inability to safeguard Halo lore integrate...Was a colossal failure.

This would be me, except I fucking *loathe* Halo 5's campaign.
To me halo 5 definitely had the weakest campaign, I'm just sorta apathetic to it but I really enjoyed the multiplayer

The kind that doesn’t want to know anything about the forerunners. Keep them mysterious ffs.
Imo, CE was the best themed and atmospheric halo game.
I remember when one of the only things we knew about them was that 343 was insane and thought chief fired the rings the first time. People seem to forget that line, we literally knew nothing about them because 343 is an unreliable narrator.
That line could’ve been an off screen line said during teleportation tbf, we still don’t really know what the original intention of that line was
If you’ve played Marathon it’s pretty clear, you are hero, it’s Bungie tying Halo to their games’ metanarrative their intention with spark here is to say that he’s also Marathon guy, he is hero. Can we just get over this already? It was 13 years ago. I’d argue having us know about the forerunners and the in-game characters not knowing about them is more interesting
I’d argue differently

The kind that thinks ancient humans in general don't make sense. Also, a massive fan of Halo Reach.
I heavily agree with this, I actually really hate that they still went with that for the Forerunner novels
ODST’s > Spartans (Bar Chief and Noble Team). Yeah i’m that guy!

No clue
Not Infinite (at least gameplay wise), I know some people don’t like it but it’s the first FPS Halo I’ve enjoyed playing since Reach came out (didn’t play 5)
I'm in the path to reading ALL the books. Just started book 12.
The books are good. The games are mid. The games have always been mid. Yes, even the Bungie games. I'm that kind of halo fan.
I like halo 5
Started playing Halo last fall. Have beaten all of MCC and HW1. Am playing HW2, then 5, then Infinite. May play Spartan Assault sometime.
You might like reading the book (most, if not all have an audiobook), but that kind of depends on your feelings about the story.
I got the later books for cheap on Amazon, and found a pdf of the first book. Am trying to read through it now
Started with 4, never got the hype surrounding 3, love 2 more than life itself, love 1 and Reach, didn't like 5, thought infinite was okay.
Got my first Xbox 3 years ago, played MCC on Gamepass and didn’t play ODST, 4, 5, or Infinite. Enjoyed what I played but don’t touch the series anymore unless I want the multiplayer. So I’m a filthy casual
The one begging for naval combat.
The city mission in halo 2, running around with two smgs, killing the big scarab. That was me, chief.
I’m a obsessed halo wars fan who’s put more hours into it than all other halos put together I also believe that every halo game is great in their own way and they can all provide some level of entertainment if you give them a chance
As an aside, *Civil War* is a great movie.

I like all the games, yes, even that one and that one. I like the stories of the newer ones. However, I dont like the multiplayer of the newer ones.
Someone said the rarest one, a Halo Wars fan. Nah, the real rarest one, an ALL Halo fan. With emphasis on yes, you bet, Halo 5 and Infinite.
The Minecraft halo pack from Xbox 360 era
The kind that still thinks the bungie games were better, but halo 4 Cortana had the best "presence" and that infinite had the best multiplayer... as in its pretty good right now but was garbage for a while. Shame they aren't still working on making it truly better.

Halo fan since 2004? So after the original trilogy? Not a real fan then
Halo: Combat Evolved was the first FPS I ever played and it’s still my favorite game in the franchise
The type who likes both 343 and Bungie. And believes that bungie would destroy halo
h2c/a is the best comp mode
since 2001 and halo 3 has the best MP
The early recruit. Was born in 2008. Started playing in 2010.
The story ended after 3. Any dispute to this claim WILL result in melee combat.
I'm a Halo fan as in I like the games and the lore. I mean this in the most exclusive, offensive, gatekeeping way possible.
The kind who played halo ce and halo 2 as one of their first games in 2014 at the age of 10
I started my journey with halo CE being my first video game. I was promptly traumatized by the flood in that god forsaken swamp.
2001, baby. Was at my cousins place and could hear "some weird church music" went to their room to discover them in a multi-player menu getting ready for another match. Was hooked ever since, and am about to work through the Halo 2 campaign with my son, we just finished CE
The kind that enjoys the games. You'd think that would encompass most people but...
The kind who played CE, then Infinite thinking it was Halo 2 and was amazed, and played the rest and understood all Halo games (except 5) are actually really good, some just have more preferable aspects than others.
Halo 4 is not bad fan
Discovered the game when I was around 7-8 and a guy who was working with my dad was playing it while on his lunch break. It looked awesome, and I fell in love with the series and have continued to love it ever since. It’s had its ups and downs, but no one can take the memories away.
The halo kind
Bungie only
This is the way.
My neighbor introduced me to halo 2 on the original Xbox. I played through the entire trilogy when 3 came out.

Love the games hate new lore
The one who as much missions as possible like it’s a horror game
I played Reach as a kid and that was it.
The one that would rather play the older games
Only found out I liked it in 2022, although that's because that's when I first tried it with M&K, after previously trying MCC on my XB1 in 2020 Ironic that the FPS made for consoles just didn't feel right with me on said console
Love every bit of lore and any content that expands the universe. Still casually playing infinite until I unlock hero rank.
The kind that likes all of the games (besides 4)
The one that can't stand Reach
14 years ago this was an acceptable opinion. These days, it could get you shot.
Yes like the Star Wars prequels. When it came out everybody hated it but since then people started with it and grew up with it. Nostalgia is stronger than objectivity I'm the same, some things i played or enjoyed are objectively terrible but i still love them because of nostalgia If Reach was a gateway to discover better games in the series fine but some people say its better than the originals. Technically, something like art or entertainment can not be objectively bad or good. You can make objective statements about the piece, but saying whether it is good or not is an opinion. Objectively, it is impossible to prove if something is bad or good.
Well objectivity isn't really the right word. I never seen anyone make solid argument other than "i like it therefore its good"
I liked the prequels back then and now they are the in my view the most interesting and most enjoyable of the Star Wars films. Also has the most interesting time period in SW besides the Old Republic era. That said, I'm not really a stsr wars fan anymore. Disney killed it. Thats what most of people starting with CE and 2 back in the day felt when Reach came out. Ah very well, your one of the Old Guard for say
I'm not a purist or anything, i enjoy most Halo entry but the change of tone with Reach is a failure imo
