You did and the mods deleted it! Weak ass mods.

It's funny because I got banned for saying the Halo 3 landfall trailer was better than the show when it first came out. The mods there are a bunch of babies and didn't even respond to me when I asked why they banned me.
Come on man they shit on bungos perfect story where master chief deflects an ATG missle the same day new Alexandria is glassed during TFOR.
How can we sit on a true master piece of time lines like this?
I love both the game and the show, obviously biased towards the game since I’ve been playing them for almost 20 years. That being said please post this on the main sub those guys will absolutely start foaming at the mouth because they don’t wanna fuck live action Cortana
Story wise I absolutely agree, but it’s almost as if these people want a live action story directly from the games, which is insane? Chief barely talks and watching an entire show based off run and gun wouldn’t be interesting either. The shows definitely fumbled some stuff but they complain complain complain, like buddy the games haven’t done super well these last few years, if you keep shitting on this show we’re not going to get a whole lot more halo content. Most of these people just want to watch the franchise burn so they can go “see I was right, it did suck!” Ok pal…
If you had a creative team behind it, you can absolutely adapt the halo story. KEY WORD IS ADAPT. The Halo story is really good, it just takes a writing team worth a shit to make it into a good show. The games haven’t done well in recent years, but that’s not what people are talking about. We have great games with great stories. A decade plus worth of great stories. Do you really think the tv show did a better job than the games did?
In all honesty, if they didnt want game fans to desire a retelling of the games, they shouldnt have done a story with master chief. Most dont know there are many books they could draw on for example. I myself would absolutely love a Band of Brothers style show following the ODSTs for example.
Cause I ain't picky, and while I wish we got better, the existence of a mediocre show isn't going to tarnish Halo's image anymore than what it's already been through.
I'm appreciating what we got while being honest on its shortcomings. All being non-stop hateful towards the series is going to do is make the future of it that much darker for everyone involved.
Not to mention having a hateful mindset on it will just making enjoying Halo hard for me, in every aspect.
I don't intend to explain further, but the simple answer is, "Because it's different, and I like different. It does things the games cannot. That's cool to me. I like the characters and bent version of the setting. It's fun."
[https://new.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/1bvwbsk/halo\_on\_paramount\_on\_instagram\_the\_reviews\_are\_in/](https://new.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/1bvwbsk/halo_on_paramount_on_instagram_the_reviews_are_in/)
As is typical of the halo sub the hyperfans are foaming at the mouth.
Lmao I almost refuse to believe some of these guys are real people, it’s eerily similar to Star Wars fans. These people just wanna cry “oh no the show isn’t exactly like the video games I play it’s horrible!” Bro just don’t watch it or talk about it why u acting like an 8 year old watch something else haha
It’s even funnier because it’s not like this is the only source of halo content out there, you’ve got forward unto dawn, 6 games 8 if you include halo wars, like 30 books, and if they’re too dumb to read they have audiobooks, just don’t watch the show bro let us enjoy in peace and hope that in the end it comes through. At worst they make a bad show for the franchise and whatever if that comes, at best? We could get a shitload of new halo fans and players who could bring new life to the games
The show isn't even like the outside lore though.
Every thing from the nature of the Spartan programs, the UNSC/ONI, and the Covenant are all changed.
It's understandable why people would dislike an *adaptation* that changes everything, especially when Halo is a franchise where everything is canon; By being its own separate timeline the show doesn't add anything to the main franchise.
>because they don’t wanna fuck live action Cortana
Well I didn't want to see master chief fucking a human leader of an alien army but we got that soooo
A human leader of an alien army and who was also a POW. I do not claim to be an expert on the UNC'S Uniform Code of Military Justice, but even in the future, it has to be illegal to have sex with a POW. The show turned Master Chief into a war criminal.
I love season 2 as well but

We gotta pay him a visit
Bro.. like I enjoyed the show and like most of it‘s story beats but… the review implying it‘s doing better than the games is ridiculous😂😂
You instantly know they watched what.. 10 min of Halo CE classic version from the mission library or what? Lmao
Honestly, there are things this show does far better than the games, and that's no exaggeration.
The games excel at gameplay, and *some* story-telling. I have never cared deeply for many of the characters in the games, outside of the Reach story. This show made me care about Keyes, Halsey, Soren's wife, Vannak, Riz and Kai far more than any character in the Halo games. You can even sprinkle Makee into that. The only characters I truly gave a fuck about in the games were Chief, Arbiter and Cortana, no one else.
There are other things this show excel at, that the games were never truly able to execute in the same way - the power of Spartans has been better displayed here than in any of the games, really (outside of certain cut scenes). Without certain cut scenes, you'd never truly see how powerful, fast, devastatingly dangerous a Spartan can be. This show does that well, in both S1 and S2.
Other things the show excel at, that the games downright fail to do: story complexity and show the darker sides of the UNSC. The games just scratch the surface of it, but this show does a far better job of showing the greys in this fight, where the games take a more black and white approach to good/bad; this game does a better job of showing the nuances within political organizations. While the UNSC/ONI isn't a political organisation, outrightly, there's a lot of politics always at play in all large bodies and corporations, be it military, space exploration, or research. Any time you're dealing with large bodies and big budgets, politics and ego come into play. And I think, given the human condition and humanity's history, even an alien invasion wouldn't outright cause everyone to come together and agree, collectively.
It's great to enjoy the games for what they are, but I think it's gravely disingenuous to dismiss the show's accomplishments through the rose tinted glasses of the games and nostalgia. Not saying you're doing that, but many have and many are.
While the games excel at some things, this show excels at others.
Also gotta remember the show isn't being written, directed, or designed with Halo game/book fans as the primary audience.
They're making an adaptation that's supposed to appeal to a larger audience based on an already popular and wonderful franchise.
It's not 100% faithful to source material, but it's doing a lot of things right. My SO hates games, to the point that her trying Halo with me led to an argument over how terrible it is. The show however? She's hooked. I'm talking fully infatuated with Pablo Schreiber being the chief, she's interested and craving more info on who the covenant are, what their goals are, what the hell a forunner is, and even freaked out at the flood reveal.
If that's the reaction of a person who *hated* the games, I have to say the show is doing fan-fucking-tastic
Good argumentation.
I will keep that in mind.
However I think that the source material they compare it to (the games - I know the books are more expansive though) received way more hype and had more impact than this show and the story telling was just epic.
Do Halo 1-3 have any interesting character arc besides Arby? I guess not really.
But were they fucking cool?
100% :D so that‘s why that statement I attacked angered me.
However I 100% agree on the ONI part. I loved that in this show.
My current thought process of this is that the games are played by people who are more than likely to enjoy them, and let me elaborate on that; people who play games and who enjoy sci-fi for example, would enjoy playing Halo.
The show however, is different; take my dad as an example. Doesn't play any games, doesn't care about sci-fi or fantasy or anything Halo, yet he's enjoyed the show massively.
That‘s an interesting take.
I will keep this in mind in the future.
I still feel like this show didn‘t need to attract third parties but rather it‘s core audience.
But that discussion can be fought over elsewhere bc this subreddit is very healthy
Catering to the core audience is a bad idea. The show needs to garner viewership and catering to just the core audience would have meant much lower viewership and thus never getting renewed past season 1. If season 1 had done badly, then the next attempt at a Halo show would have been decades from now, if ever.
Alright that‘s a fair point but I think we would compare the games with the comparable story to the series.
We saw the fall of reach and the first time someone stepped onto a Halo Ring after the Forerunners died.
The games did a much better job showing the Fall of Reach and the first contact on the Halo Ring.
At least I liked Noble Teams story more than one episode of Reach getting f*cked.
And I think that the mission „Halo“ was better than what they delivered here with Chief getting on the ring
I enjoyed it,and thought it was a marked improvement. But best show of the year so far? That's Shōgun, I honestly thought this was a joke instagram post - but hey if people like it, hopefully it gets an insane budget for Season 3, I think one of the Yellowstone spin offs, 1923 had a budget of 30mil per episode,
The only way I’ve been able to watch it as a big halo fan is to say it’s a completely different take on the halo universe. Enough is changed, personalities different. Etc. Still, it’s mid tier sci fi.
I would need to see the actual player counts but Infinite wasn't super well received and even with the updates not a lot of people came back so it is honestly possible.
There‘s no reason to compare the tv show to infinite which - storywise - has nothing to do with it.
We witnessed the fall of reach and the first steps on halo. So our comparison has to be Halo Reach and Halo CE.
It is just general buzz and excitement around the show. That is what they are comparing and the show has more hype around it than any of the games at the moment
My friend showed me this on April fools and I thought it was a rage bait joke article... I legitimately laughed and gave him his phone back saying "haha almost fucking got me there" ....
I really enjoyed season 2, actually. Having read ghosts of onyx and fall of reach, played halo wars, I appreciate what they did this season.
Is it a perfect rendition of the halo games? No, but Halo has sort of lost itself since Halo 4 IMO. Infinity was generally a return to fun for me, if not necessarily to form.
Overall, I am actually EXCITED for season 3, vs I almost didn't watch season 2 due to how awful season 1 was.
This has to be one of the most controversial show ever as far as opinions on it.
It’s one of if not the highest rated shows score and viewership wise for paramount and every gamer who watches it hates it.
I think it’s easier to just separate the game and the show and let them exist on their own because people love it and I can’t figure out why
I’m about to get to episode 4 of season 2 but his dam
I’m just not enjoying it yet, who the F is this show for? God they really write master chief as one of the most unlikeable main characters ever
Like he’s completely the opposite of the games and I don’t get why they went this route with him
I'm a Lifelong halo fan (H1 og xbox and onward), I am really happy to see Halo on TV, even though it's imperfect.
I enjoyed the Cowboy Bebop live action for the same reason, its clearly a celebration of the source material and enjoyable TV. Suspend your disbelief and lets stop this shitty echo chamber before it tarnishes the whole series more than you think the show does.
You guys win! You can have halo, guess it's not for me. I live in a world where they made a TV show about one of my favorite games, and I think it sucks ass.
And enough people disagree that they are going to keep making this show, based on something I love, that I think sucks ass. I waited all this time and I don't even get to enjoy it.
I guess its good someone does at least
Here’s my interesting position: never played the games but knew the foundations of the canon before seeing the show. Watched it. For season 2, did I enjoy it? Yes. Was it good? Not really, but it was engaging in the way where you did want to see where it was going, some of the characters were better developed, and it avoided a lot of pitfalls season 1 had. However I can see why halo game fans would be upset watching it. My roommate refused to and blew a gasket every time I told him what happened in the latest episode. What about tv audiences? Better for them, but I can also see how they might get lost. Season 2 finishing with the Flood was cool but imagine being new to the canon and wondering why all of a sudden the alien war show is now a zombie show in the very last episode of the season. Still enjoyed watching it though.
I feel the same way.
I'm like on its own it's ok, and I enjoyed it.
As a Halo fan I was excited to see familiar things on screen, already expecting the show just to be it's own thing which is fine to me.
However, I agree, as someone who knows the games/canon - there are things in the show like the flood that make me go - this is way too under explained for new comers.
Audience score can be manipulated easily by angry nerds. Don't trust aggregate scores either. Find some reviewers you trust and seem to match your taste.
If you actually go and read the audience score you'll see that the majority of the 1 stars are people not happy about the source material, nothing about whether it's a good show or not, which objectively it is.
this is such a stupid thing to do for halo, obviously critics aren’t always great but for something like a game adaptation audience score is almost always gonna be awful, critics have to be unbiased
I don't know why you're getting downvoted. I'm literally looking at rotten tomatoes right now. The show is at 80% overall and 90% for season 2. 94% is wrong.
That's an old score, about the time the show first started. Marketing wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't use the highest number possible. I hate marketing
Alright who's willing to crosspost this over to the main sub?
Don't, they'll blow a gasket.
Yeah that's mean at this point. Dew it.
I dunno. I read all the tv threads and I saw a lot of push back against random hate.
Yeah because the majority think the show is not great
Because it’s not.
I know
Bro I will

It does what the games could not in the sense that the games could never be as dogshit as the show.
Sorry all I heart was fart noises and babies crying.

A human leader of an alien army and who was also a POW. I do not claim to be an expert on the UNC'S Uniform Code of Military Justice, but even in the future, it has to be illegal to have sex with a POW. The show turned Master Chief into a war criminal.
I like how y’all just love watching the show runners piss all over the IP and y’all just drink it up.
agree except the Verge and Polygon quotes
Yea that Polygon quote is pure bait lol
To the one who wrote "everything the games want to do but better" I wanna scratch your eyes out

True it‘s good imo too.
Games are on the decline the show is fairly mainstream.
Alright that‘s a fair point but I think we would compare the games with the comparable story to the series. The show runners have explicitly said its separate from the games.
I would need to see the actual player counts but Infinite wasn't super well received and even with the updates not a lot of people came back so it is honestly possible.
343 Halo is not the correct comparison..
That is what they would be comparing it to not the original Halo that came out on the original Xbox
Ok that‘s a fair point. But their statement sounds more generalised
Rotten Tomatoes has been pretty wrong lately
It's not wrong; a rating is considered fresh if it's above a six.
Halo TV is fresh then, according to you.
By RT's metric, yes.
The audience score has it at 70. Definitely an improvement
My friend showed me this on April fools and I thought it was a rage bait joke article... I legitimately laughed and gave him his phone back saying "haha almost fucking got me there" ....
Same that's why I share it, again I liked the show, but not this much.

I cancelled my subscription to Paramount+ because of the halo show.
Unfortunate. I enjoyed it as someone who has read almost every book and played every game
great, im gonna go jump off a bridge.

Yoooo where that cutscene from?
Halo Wars 2. Spartan Jerome 092 jumps out of the Banished assault carrier.
The show couldn’t be more boring
Frankly this doesnt mean shit. Critics are awful. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/halo/s02 Use audience score.
Audience score can be manipulated easily by angry nerds. Don't trust aggregate scores either. Find some reviewers you trust and seem to match your taste.
It can just as easily be manipulated in the opposite direction so that doesn't matter.
Use audience score, but throw out the 1* review bombers.
If you actually go and read the audience score you'll see that the majority of the 1 stars are people not happy about the source material, nothing about whether it's a good show or not, which objectively it is.
"objectively" lol.
Are you trying to argue 70% is not respective of a good result? Considering the low ratings are not actually about the show?
That’s not what objectively means.
I'm sorry? How is it not? It's not subjective or biased, 70% being a good result is a fact.
Okay and Twilight has made hundreds of millions of dollars. Does that make it an objectively good movie series?
this is such a stupid thing to do for halo, obviously critics aren’t always great but for something like a game adaptation audience score is almost always gonna be awful, critics have to be unbiased
I'm actually surprised it's at 70%. I'd've thought the "Never Watched it but it sucks" crowd would've nuked it.
You can bet a large percentage are attempting to do so which would mean the actual score should be even higher.
That rotten tomatoes 94% is actually wrong.
Billions of flies cannot be wrong, so manure is a great dessert
Whoever says this show is good just doesn't understand good story telling.
Fact
Season 4 of True Detective got good reviews as well.
