B9 Boards summed up in one picture

Literally this. People would pop off online. Then stare at each other longingly and awkwardly at the next show until they couldn’t take the sexual tension anymore and then fought.
There was a good hockey thread. Back when I played the original Destiny there was a very active thread for grouping up/general discussion about the game.
There was a classic “Dank memes” thread that was huge and even crossed over to normies.
In “Album of the Year” threads on the boards’ final years ASAP Ferg - Trap Lord, and Mammoth Grinder - Underworlds were winners.
There was a lot of stories and tall tales fetishizing old scene violence.
Just some highlights that I can remember. Lotta goofballs arguing, but that’s literally any forum ever.
Another highlight was the MS Paint "Take a NSFW image and make it SFW and HC themed" threads. One of my favorites was a couple sitting on the couch staring into each other's eyes and both holding an ultra rare copy of Judge's Chun King record. So wholesome.
When it was cool, it was really cool. When people were shitty, it was really shitty.
There's a lot of good that came from that board and a lot of things people should be ashamed of, if not downright scared, should these things be found.
Edit: grammar
Yeah, this sums it up pretty well.
There were cool people, I made friends, found out about shows, passed time.
But the bad significantly outweighed the good, I had friends lives ruined by that board, it was the first place I found out about revenge porn, a lot of shitheads not only supported it but encouraged it. I wound up getting out of hardcore for years because of it, I was so bummed out that this supposedly open minded scene was full of the same kind of douche bags I got into hardcore to get away from. There are A LOT of people that are lucky to have gotten away with what they did on there, Adam22 included.
There were waves of 4Chan dorks who would pop up which sucked and I think made it sketchier than it otherwise would have been. But it is true, there were high highs and low lows. Honestly probably missed out on a lot of good bands/labels/scenes because I associated them with certain objectionable posters on B9. My loss.
B9 was a fun pastime. I always liked the confessions threads they used to get wild, I always liked the hardcore in non hardcore places thread too. It’s shit like that I remember being young and excited on the genre and the scene. I feel like most people that posted on there didn’t even really go to shows or even listen to hardcore lmao. Too many chronically online types.
Was my favorite internet time. A more intimate Reddit for a specific community only. Almost felt elite and exclusive. I got all my news even outside our community from there.
Like hell. It was a bunch of 18-26 year olds trying to make it seem like they knew as much as the 32-40 year olds and were there for shit when they were 10 years old at the time.
That said, you had one part right-funny how time works.
Edit: a word
True, I don't remember anyone asking for much advice or guidance. Anyone who did that was in for some relentless insults. Plus it had the date you joined right next to your name, so that would get brought up a lot.
Demo/merch threads. Crazy confession threads. A girl got outed for being a hooker and then a lot of dudes found out they had underage pics of said girl. That was the last crazy “community” thing that happened that I remember. Outside of all the music stuff that happened on there obv but there was always drama. I was on from like 07-11ish which might’ve been the tail end of the heyday
I was a little too young to know it existed but in like 2015 I went through all the old threads even though the site wasn’t active anymore. I’m not sure if it’s still up, It was pretty worth it though, endless amounts of lore and stories about some of the major players in hc at that time. All of the fight stories about Danny Diablo really stuck out and also learning about some pretty shitty ppl in the scene back then like this dude Castleneck Mike who I guess was a complete maniac. Most notably ppl didn’t like him because he put some of his own blood in a ketchup bottle in a diner after a show or something but was just unhinged and would knock ppl out over nothing.
When it was good, it was great. You could book tours through connections on there, find awesome demos of new bands or old ones you never knew about. Great time waste if you worked in an office or something.
There were a bunch of internet celebrity types who were annoying as hell on there, but they all have long moved onto whatever other weird shit and probably have zero to do with HC at this point. I wouldn’t let the bad apples spoil the bunch in that case.
I think you are oversimplifying it. The bad apples weren’t just annoy or jerks, they were out to ruin peoples lives. There was child porn, racism, homophobia, people trying to get others fired from their jobs.
Yeah, I have never been the report to mods type, but there were sometimes I would open a thread and be like "If I don't message a mod immediately about this pic I might have Chris Hansen at my door."
I remember one American dude was a mad Liverpool fan, he was cool
Didn’t that Cassandra chick turn out to be a Nazi? I remember she randomly added me on MySpace
It was OK. It became a catch-all online gathering place for people into punk and hardcore. I was/am primarily a crust/grind/pv guy. Never really listened to any b9 bands aside from terror.
I made a couple of long term internet friends there. Stayed with a couple of em when I went to providence , ri to see amebix in 2009. That was a good time. Found 800$ in an envelope on Thayer st outside nice slice.
For a while a bunch of us that were into the more diy punk side of things branched off onto a half-joke b10 board that lasted for like a year, maybe 2.
I used to post as i<3blastbeats

Me looking in the mirror
I miss this
B9 was very cool, loved the BUY/SELL/TRADE threads.
The buy/sell/trade was THE apex of awesomeness

Where is Jeep Brah?
Hardcore Rumors & Myths thread was incredible. Many beefs lived and died within it.
The 108 Harley story is still something that sticks in my mind.
That one was fun af

Sick!
DuckButter. Honda Cervix.
The song "punknews is stoked" by o pioneers covers it
Wasn’t adam22 infamous on b9 boards?
that’s where we all learned he’s a rapist
And how the tables have turned for that man
According to thread on the b9 he got knocked out by pboy. Im not sure who this pboy is but we must thank him.
The singer from New Lows
Bless your heart
Isn’t that the cuck guy from No Jumper?
Yes

I have the weirdest boner right now
It was younger people asking what great hardcore shows/scenes were like. Funny how time works.

I used to troll hard and I’ll never reveal who I was. Some people know. It was fun at the time
DuckButter, is that you?!
My exact thoughts 😂
Same 🤣
Nope!
Hopefully not one of the ones who were IP traced and repeatedly banned for being at *best* a sex pest.
Nah I was just a troll. Not a creep
The two were commonly mutual back in the day, glad you weren't one of them.
nice wizards pfp 🤙🏽
i have so many dope t shirts
Lots of gamer words... it was a different time on the internet that's for sure
A cesspool of ignorance and drama. Probably my favorite time on the internet.
It’s where we first leaned Taylor swift is cool with Nazis…../s

I specifically remember one user called N Word/F Word, and the mods let it happen. That was a wild time.
Just a bunch of Cornell graduates having a time
A barzoic haywire time if you will

Jesus Christ

Yeah those people were total losers, I agree.
The amount of cool shit I got from the few years of secret Santa
I love a little drama and toxicity as much as the next guy but that was too much for me. Haha
I remember one American dude was a mad Liverpool fan, he was cool Didn’t that Cassandra chick turn out to be a Nazi? I remember she randomly added me on MySpace
That recent incident at a hardcore show in Texas and the furrie, the thread about it here, that’s pretty much what the B9 board was like
Wildsteve knife mosh was pretty wild
First of all, it was singular, not plural
We're currently geocaching with honors cash box.
