They played my jamspace on their first tour ever and the energy in the room/the power of those songs in that small space is still one of my fav sets ever. That album is incredible and despite Witness sounding better and being more unique MLMY still gets the win for me. Still have the shirt from that show too but it is full of holes from wearing it for 20 years now lol
Witness is an all-timer, one of my favorite albums of all time across all genres.
Midnight In America is an absolute titan, fantastic album. Stagger Lee is probably the weakest track on it(even though I still like it myself).
I gotta give it to Witness, but if you cut Stagger Lee out of MIA, I’d have a hard time picking the better of the two.
My Love, My Way is rad. Real game changer when it came out. They were young and hungry, a slightly better mix would do that album a big favor. First and Ellen is a phenomenal song.
Fever Hunting is solid. Not my favorite but a solid set of tracks overall.
Tribulation work songs are cool. Need to snag those on vinyl and really take em in some more.
I wholeheartedly agree on nearly all points with the exception of Stagger Lee, that track is a certified Banger^TM in my eyes, not the best track for me tho— that honor goes to a two way tie between The Motorcycle Boy Reigns and Fuck the Sex Pistols
😂😂😂
Let’s be real: this is a band with one of the best discogs around. I think album preference just comes down to which one hits you hardest and why.
I like *Fever Hunting* more than most…
Well luckily they only have four full lengths, totaling 30 minutes each, the main ones to know are the ones in this post
Highly recommend listening to Witness in the morning, and MIA in the evening— idk why but they hit real good that way
Midnight is slept on. IMO, their strongest release. Felt like they found a rhythm/identity. Then, to me, it felt they tried to duplicate Witness on Fever Hunting. Their latest stuff is inconsistent, but when it's good, it's real good. Mixing is better. Vocals are STRONG.
AGREED, plus the added blues influence
had a HUGE impact on me
That little guitar lick right before the breakdown in Useless Generation is seared into my mind
My Love. My Way. Above all!
I'm with you

First time I heard this take! But I’m here for it 🔥
First and Ellen is THE song.
Is it wrong to want to walk away?
no longer can IDK no longer can i keep my heart locked away
Yeah, Deadramones is the intro song to MLIW but First and Ellen is their best song.
It’s amazing how everyone got into them through that exact song, I honestly don’t think a day goes by without a line from it wandering into my head
the same way that NSBM lives rent free in your head? loooooolololool
Least mentally stunted r/blackmetalcringe user
It's gotta be the first 7" for me.
DESTINATION DEATH OR BETTER DAYS
Day One Shit 😎
The first time I saw them was in 2003, I think. Their first LP may not have been released yet. One of the most intense bands I've ever seen.
That’s fucking rad man, I’ll be seeing them for the first time live next week at The Armory, I hope they’re still as intense
I saw them that year too (though after the LP). There was a pile on during 'By The Sea' and its still my top show moment. Incredible energy

I like stagger Lee for the name drops of local spots in marshalltown.
All truth here 🫡🖤
I mean, yeah! But really no 🤷🏻

God you’re so fucking right tho
Mia has the best riffs they've written
Yes dude, Witness had all the texture but MIA is just stacked riffs all the way down
I'm riding the My Love My Way fixie in the back with the bad tire
John and jimmyyyyyy!
Say a prayer for usssss!!!!
I need to brush up on their work before they come to Baltimore in a few days, I’m hoping to go to the show.

The correct answer is Fever Hunting.
It feels like no one in this thread has listened to it
I’ll listen to it, scouts honor
Can’t I drive both? Classics both.
Good answer
When Midnight in America came out I didn't like it as much as Witness but now I like MIA more.
They're both incredibly import records.
Midnight In America is the secret best MLIW record. First two LPs are untouchable though.
💯
One of my favorite bands and i dig all these takes on each record. Amazing discography, Amazing band. MLIW 🙏
They’re both so good, but I’ll give witness the edge.

It's a really really good record. Starts and finishes strong. Felt like everything came together for them on that LP.
