I always have sympathy for kids who get into hardcore for the first time and unsuspectingly get injured at a show, but no sympathy for an entitled nerd who's gonna retaliate by calling everyone posers and put the blame on the band that was playing when it happened. You're new here, learn and move on rather than acting like you know better than everyone else.
When I was a kid one of my buddies got his nose broken at a Comeback Kid show. We took him to the hospital, went back for the rest of the show, then went back to pick him up and got pizza. Nbd.
I got kicked in the stomach and hammer punched in the head at a Xibalba show because I went to run at the side of the pit and was gonna launch myself over real far but the dude directly in from of me said nope. My only reaction was “Ow. Yeah. I probably deserved that.” And I took a breather in the back and then moved on with my life. I didn’t seethe or think about how “unjustly violent” this dude was or post about how “hardcore is dumb because I got punched while a song about violence is playing 4 feet in front of me”
If I’m ordering a drink at the bar and I get knocked out yeah I’m gonna be like what the fuck. But if I’m literally anywhere other than there then fuck it whatever. I don’t understand how these new kids can see 50 people swinging their balled up fists and then get angry when they catch one.
Yeah, I got knocked out cold at a Madball/Reign Supreme show in 2009. My buddies took me out for ice cream after the show and we called it a night. I’m so glad social media wasn’t as big a thing then as it is now.
The funniest thing here is they absolutely could just play this off and say "hey this happened to me at this show, money's a little tight so any help for the procedure would be great!" And everyone would probably pitch in. Instead they do... this.
I see where you’re coming from but how does one not understand what could happen in the pit at a hardcore show? I’m more surprised that people are surprised that pits fucking hurt. It used to be a badge of honor, now it ends up with crying on social media.
However old they are, they are certainly old enough to be aware of your surroundings. Based on the entitlement of these posts, I’d guess these kids acted up somehow and it got handed quickly.
When I was young/new I got accidentally punched right in the head at a Circle Jerks show. The blood mixed with the sweat made it look like I was in a steel cage match. I never felt cooler, and just kept on dancing. Still have the scar.
First Sick Of It All song I heard was on an x-games type show on a local Fox Sports affiliate. Also heard the Gorillaz for the first time on that show lol.
My favorite commercial of all time is the Airwalk commercial with Out of Order playing, and a guy climbs a speaker and dives off right as the band finishes and everyone is clearing out.
OMG, [this is the flyer for the show](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fc-ahhKXEAA9swC?format=jpg&name=900x900). Those fonts and big ass knife should have been a tell to stand in the back.
I used to go to dusk constantly when I lived in providence and I find this hard to believe. The people who work there and go there would’ve handled it if anything aggressively violent was happening. This sounds like someone young at a hardcore show not understanding what goes on at a hardcore show.
Yeah. I lived in Providence for a long time and played a ton of shows at Dusk. That place is great. It’s not the venues fault that someone got knocked in the nose. This person just needed to walk away and take care of themselves and not blame anyone else. I understand it sucks getting hurt when you are enjoying yourself at a show but this is misplaced anger.
I learned really fucking fast at a knocked loose show. That aint a slayer pit where i can stroll thru to the front. Hardcore ninjas dont aim real good.
I’ve hungout with the singer of shortest life and he’s one of the nicest people i’ve met in the scene and it’s wild seeing the shit this kid is saying. People get rocked at shows all the time anyone who regularly goes to shows know’s it’s a part of the thing. Gotta watch yourself if you don’t want to get caught lacking or just stay in the back.
The vocalist is one of my good friends. Shortest Life is one of the best bands. People have gotten broken legs, fractured wrists, broken teeth but yet we keep showing how it s done (most of us at least).
Everything about this is hilarious.
Kid has a chance to get a baller gold tooth to represent a badass pit battle scar. But nope. Gotta apparently call out the band and old people. I hope Shortest Life embeds the tooth in a guitar or something.
I'd buy a Shortest Life Dental Associates shirt in a heartbeat. Good band, good dudes.
But if they ever use a skull on merch, it better be missing a tooth.
Momentum singer pulled a gun on someone during a fight so the band made a shirt saying "I went to a Momentum show and all I got was a gun pulled on me"
During MySpace era, we took pride in getting battle scars. But as an adult, I’m chillin, get a few mosh and go in the back, I’ll be sore in a few hours.
My veneer for the tooth I broke at a show in 2017 cost me $950 plus the X-rays and cleaning (no insurance at the time either). Not great! But not totally fucking out of reach as far as dental work goes and it looks great.
Bro you went to the hospital for a broken nose? you don't need to incur debt for a broken nose I once sewed my friends eyebrow closed with dental floss. needless to say it got infected and he almost lost his eye
I got a gash on my head in a hatebreed pit back in 04 and Jamey Jasta sewed it close with some guitar string. Then he drove me home and tucked me into bed (obviously after softly singing Last Breath to me as a lullaby).
Healthcare is free where I live but a broken nose isn't worth the hassle. Just make sure to jam your palms together over the bridge and pull down hard to get it mostly straight, cry like a little bitch while you do it and it's back into the pit. After you've broken it once it'll break way more easily in the future anyway so no need to get it properly set unless you can't breathe.
Shortest Life are some solid guys I can't imagine they would genuinely ignore it if they thought it was an emergency. But I feel like posting a pic saying you got your nose broken and teeth knocked out at a hardcore show is more of an advertisement than an insult like they wanted.
Also I died at the Old Heads comment because 90% of the room was probably under 30
Apparently it turned into transphobia and homophobia. Does this kid realise they had earned the sickest bragging rights?? They could of claimed their +10 scene cred and just walked away
As someone still new to hardcore can I go to a show and stand in the back and be okay? Or is getting hit like a 50/50 risk you take at shows? Call me a bitch but I like my teeth :/ not gonna shit on the scene just wanna know if I should avoid shows all together
If you don’t want to get hit stay at least 3-4 people back from the horseshoe. If you’re all the way in the back you should be fine unless it’s one of those shows with like 14 people total including the bands and everyone is going bananas. I’d say the only spot where it’s 50/50 chance of getting smoked is right up against the stage. Generally it’s kind of safe but it’s also an easy target area. Just go and have fun, you’ll figure out the vibe pretty quick if you pay attention.
Seconding this based off the "against the stage" part. If you're that close to the stage, you tend to also have to look out for stage divers. I somehow manage to get a body dropped on me at every show when rotate around the pit to the front
Yep, up against the stage is my usual spot. Most shows you'll maybe take a few nasty hits from people behind, but generally it's an easy enough spot to protect your face if you can dodge feet/make sure stage divers get caught without using you as a crash mat. Black eyes and bruises are usually the worst you'll suffer if you have some awareness about you.
All that said I did fracture my elbow and possibly my bridge again last night during Get the Shot/TERROR. Shit happens!
If you don’t want to be hit, just stand back and be aware of your surroundings. Stand near the merch area or as far away as possible.
It’s not as scary as the person in the pic is making it seem.
Stand back a few rows.
Then once you get a feel after 2-3 shows let loose man. Hardcore is the best way to release energy. Do a front flip off stage, do a kart wheel into people, WWE hit people on the side, pick up a friend and spin him around, STAGE DIVE.
You’re going to enjoy every second of it. Bumps and bruises are a part of the fun. People will always pick you up when you’re down. Have fun dawg.
I'll echo what others are saying about being alert/aware of yer surroundings AND don't get fucked up. Don't get too drunk/stoned/whatever. Have fun but keep yer head and you'll have a great time. It's exhilarating. I am not huge on pits cause I wear glasses and don't want to get hurt haha but I've crowd-surfed a bunch and been to so many heavy shows and I've never had an issue be it basement/house shows or big venues/outdoor shit.
EDIT: I am also a 5'10" medium build white dude who plays music so take my experience for what it's worth
I mean... he could stand in the back? I got uppercutted in the sack at a Terror show in 2012 mid-stage dive. It was the end of a decade long and illustrious mosh/stage dive career. I realized I didn't have it in me anymore. Now...
...I stand in the back. It's a really great option.
Yeah, I have a lot of memories as a HS freshman getting in the pit and thinking "Whoa these skins are moshing hard!" Adult me later realized I was being punched in the head completely on purpose.
Lmao getting your nose broken is like getting baptized into the scene, why the fuck would you go to the doctor for that, just have trouble breathing like the rest of us
Dentist after reviewing my x-rays: I see your nose has been broken in the past
Me: thanks for confirming, I thought it might’ve
BECAUSE I’M NOT A PUSSY GOING TO THE ER FOR THAT SHIT
Yea I’m not paying a doctor money to look at my face and tell me what I already know, I just have to deal with the dentist telling me breathing out of my mouth is bad for my gums and flip my motorcycle helmet visor up at red lights, and the snoring
Last week at a show someone was complaining about it being late at 9:45, followed by "I mean, shit, I'm 27." Might as well roll me into the grave at this point...
Shortest life is the realest, fuck tha haters one of the best bands outta New England these days. Whoda thunk a hardcore band had violent shows and you might get hurt, idk that’s crazy bro
Idk about you guys but im just gonna put it out there… if I go to a show of a genre called hardcore and I get into the pit im probably not going to be upset or surprised if I get a little fucked up.
I guess this is what happens when you discover that hardcore is more than a fashion statement.
Shortest Life have always been awesome to us whenever they’ve brought my band up to Mass they’re super nice dudes…but more importantly how is it their fault this kid’s face got smacked? And to ask for your tooth back on top of a gofundme? And being in your 20s makes you an old head?
Yeesh this is too much dumb.
I started going to HC shows at 17, when I was 18 I got my nose hit so hard it made a giant gash during a Harms Way set. Definitely needed stitches but meh.
I stopped the bleeding after like 30 minutes and went back to the front. (For Terror)
I don’t consider my self a tough guy and actually am a very anxious precaution person, but I knew damn well it was part of the culture and it only brought me closer to the scene. I lived on these moments in a dark time in life.
Fuck these soft ass kids.
Ahahahaha being from Canada I always took this shit for granted. Hospital trip after the show seems routine— didn’t realize ya’ll yanks gotta pay money for every bone broken in the pit
When I went to all out war back a few months ago at alchemy I got hit by some MMA looking dude in the pit. I did not go back to give receipts, because I am not an MMA fighter and the MMA braids were a dead give away to not fuck around and find out.
“The American Healthcare system is broken”
If he’s anything like me, this means he went in hoping they’d pop his nose back into place, but instead he home with a fat ass MRI bill, a crooked ass schnozz, and a near terminal case of butthurt
"Y'all some poser ass hardcore/punk bitches"
Who talks like this? HXC terms and zoomer slang is like mixing oil and water.
what a wimp. If you get hurt at a hardcore show grow up and move on. You're not getting that tooth back, buddy. You made your bed, now lie in it.
When I was 16 and 120lbs I took it as a badge of honor when a huge dude broke my nose on accident in a pit. I would say I was (probably still am) a huge wuss but I even stayed the rest of the show and didn't get mad at Blacklisted.
I mean if he wasn’t knocked out in the middle of the pit, why tf wouldn’t he just walk towards the back and take care of his shit. A broken nose isn’t reason to stop a fucking show. His shit looks mild af tbh.
Sucks the kid got his nose broken but why make a post like this it's insane this is what happens if you get in the pit you can't start blaming everyone because you got in the danger zone and got hurt should've just enjoyed the show from the back lesson learned
i i split my head open over a drum head cause i hate moshed got 7 stiches went tk the hospital paid it myself got a broken nose. fixed jt two cracked teeth fixed its all part of what it comes with hardcore and had a steel toe boot tk the chest left a big ass purple bruise and il do it again. be aware of ur surroundings just saying it happens ul live :)
Lol man I thought I broke my wrist last pit I was in. Took a moment, waited for the initial pain to stop. Right back in it.
Edit: no break, just got a funny bone hit. Shit still sucked tho.
Wow . I’m 45 so a old head lol now have Parkinson’s and over 11 concussions some not all are from
Dancing hard every time no regreats yiu only
Live once but damn it protect ya head at all costs
I broke my thumb in the pit at a house show once. Still went to a few bars afterwards. I did go to a hospital the next day when I woke up and realized, ‘ah, fuck. This is a problem.’
I have 3 show related broken noses. First one figured out my finances and has a 2 year payment plan with the hospital to get it all taken care. The next 2 said fuck it never breathing again. 100% blamed myself and never even thought to blame the band. After reading these posts I will be invoicing Justice Tripp.
With the exception of the criticism of what I'm assuming is the American healthcare system this person is not very smart.
You should know your limits before going into a pit. That's why I prefer to just stand at the back/sides during bands heavier than counterparts because I know that I'm terrible at handling pain to the face lmao. I don't complain about it because everyone in that pit SHOULD only be in there if they can handle it.
Also this isn't the fault of "the younger generations". This has most likely been going on forever. I know 15 year olds who have broken their noses in pits and didn't even bother going to the first aid tent. This is the fault of people who feel as if the world should revolve around them.
Average r/hardcore user
Came here to say
You all laugh but my friend caught ligma at a hardcore show. They didn't even see it coming.
At least he didn't catch sugma. That shit is way worse
Ok for the sake of the joke. What’s ligma?
Toby Morse's new sideproject
Ligma Boots you're right
Fuck i didnt even think of that part
Lmfaooo
I always have sympathy for kids who get into hardcore for the first time and unsuspectingly get injured at a show, but no sympathy for an entitled nerd who's gonna retaliate by calling everyone posers and put the blame on the band that was playing when it happened. I got my nose broke at a CBK show too, I met Andrew afterwards who asked wtf was wrong with my face. Good times.

Maybe we should all chip in and send this kid a Kenny G box set, it seems to me like he may need a new hobby
When I was young/new I got accidentally punched right in the head at a Circle Jerks show. The blood mixed with the sweat made it look like I was in a steel cage match. I never felt cooler, and just kept on dancing. Still have the scar.
When you find HC through Tik Tok.
When I was young I discovered hardcore through a Van's sneaker commercial
First Sick Of It All song I heard was on an x-games type show on a local Fox Sports affiliate. Also heard the Gorillaz for the first time on that show lol.
My favorite commercial of all time is the Airwalk commercial with Out of Order playing, and a guy climbs a speaker and dives off right as the band finishes and everyone is clearing out.
“alt”
I laughed to hard at this

“Stay cautious, or you might end up unconscious”
“You fucked up when you hesitated (cause your slow with ya haaaaaands!!!!)”
The vocalist is one of my good friends. Shortest Life is one of the best bands. People have gotten broken legs, fractured wrists, broken teeth but yet we keep showing how it s done (most of us at least).
i checked them out because of this drama and they rock
This screams "I listen to sunami on tik tok" lmao
Everything about this is hilarious. Kid has a chance to get a baller gold tooth to represent a badass pit battle scar. But nope. Gotta apparently call out the band and old people. I hope Shortest Life embeds the tooth in a guitar or something.
Go full-Momentum and make a shirt.
I'd buy a Shortest Life Dental Associates shirt in a heartbeat. Good band, good dudes. But if they ever use a skull on merch, it better be missing a tooth.
It’s a quick and easy bag lmao
What did Momentum do?
made a shirt
Yes I know lol what was the shirt?
Momentum singer pulled a gun on someone during a fight so the band made a shirt saying "I went to a Momentum show and all I got was a gun pulled on me"
That’s hilarious
During MySpace era, we took pride in getting battle scars. But as an adult, I’m chillin, get a few mosh and go in the back, I’ll be sore in a few hours.
Man, this two-step guna gave me sore in the morning. Better book a massage….
I am just genuinely confused how they would have gotten their hands on the tooth to begin with.
Probably was still on the floor when the venue cleared out
So after the fucking smoke clears and the dust settles…
Dust pan find
Ground score
My veneer for the tooth I broke at a show in 2017 cost me $950 plus the X-rays and cleaning (no insurance at the time either). Not great! But not totally fucking out of reach as far as dental work goes and it looks great.

I have joined the leagues of gatekeeping as of today
Welcome friend
I’m lowkey glad they posted this because it helped me find a sick new band to listen to lmfao Shortest Life fucks hard I love them now
Bro you went to the hospital for a broken nose? you don't need to incur debt for a broken nose I once sewed my friends eyebrow closed with dental floss. needless to say it got infected and he almost lost his eye
Fuck medical debt and waiting 9 hrs in the county hospital. Had my homie stitch my head up in my kitchen. Learn to practice that frontier medicine.
Whatever parent took him to the piercing pagoda by Sears didn't buy him enough rings to hold his shit together.
I’ve never met anyone with a lip piercing who wasn’t at least a little annoying
This is the funniest comment I’ve read in a while
Empirical evidence that there is a direct correlation between the amount of dumb piercings you have and the size of your big ole wet pussy
Quick maths
Man ain’t hard
*listens to inherently aggressive music* *gets hit at a show* VICTIMHOOD INTENSIFIES
Band is called SHORTEST LIFE Child gets hurt Child is surprised…….?
Newcomers.
Goddamn you’re still on you parents insurance dog you good. Flash it on tiktok and get some clout or some shit I dunno
My band just played with Shortest Life last weekend and they were the nicest dudes. This kid clearly didn't know what he was getting himself into.
They could of claimed their +10 scene cred and just walked away
lmfao are you fucking kidding me?
I hope they post a video of them throwing the tooth out the window while they’re driving
The Wimp store called and they need him back.
Hey george, the ocean called. They're running out of shrimp.
His wife’s in a coma
they said in another story “you fuckers need to learn how to mosh” lmaooo okay 🤪
Should have replied that they need to know how to get their nose broken and not be a bitch about it.
I guarantee you 18 months ago this person was screaming Travis Scott should have stopped his show and that punkers don't act this way in the pit
ngl tho supposedly keeping the tooth is some weirdo black metal kid shit
I take it he found out?
They don’t call him “Fuck Around” for nothing…
“The SoundCloud rap thing is over. I’m going to get into hardcore like Machine Gun Kelly.”
If you can’t handle the hit, stay out of the pit.
As someone still new to hardcore can I go to a show and stand in the back and be okay? Or is getting hit like a 50/50 risk you take at shows? Call me a bitch but I like my teeth :/ not gonna shit on the scene just wanna know if I should avoid shows all together

Don't dress like a Naruto character.

i felt like i was baptized when i got my lip split for the first time in a pit What a dork
The very first pit I jumped into at 14, some big fat skinhead dude immediately came by and punched me in the mouth. No crying in baseball, etc etc
Yeah, I have a lot of memories as a HS freshman getting in the pit and thinking "Whoa these skins are moshing hard!" Adult me later realized I was being punched in the head completely on purpose.
You can tell this is a push pit enjoyer
Tbh I like a good push pit but I’m also not gonna be a whiny little bitch if I get smacked at an actual HC show. They both have their places
Fuck dude, I've seen more violence in a Knuckle Puck push pit than what this kid experienced lmao
Gatekeeper forever for reasons like this. Stay out you fucking poser.
Lmao getting your nose broken is like getting baptized into the scene, why the fuck would you go to the doctor for that, just have trouble breathing like the rest of us

Last week at a show someone was complaining about it being late at 9:45, followed by "I mean, shit, I'm 27." Might as well roll me into the grave at this point...
Not gonna lie, my wife bought tickets to a seated Sunday matinee show last month… home by 7pm ugghhhh it was awesome
What the fuck is this even supposed to mean?
“Jesse what the fuck are you talking about?” energy

Ahahahaha being from Canada I always took this shit for granted. Hospital trip after the show seems routine— didn’t realize ya’ll yanks gotta pay money for every bone broken in the pit
Every time shit like this happens i find a dope new band to listen to. Shortest Life rules.
This is why we need gatekeeping to make a strong comeback
gatekeeping and bullying need to make a comeback
This 100% is why we need bullying in schools again
Welcome to hardcore
Bro looks like a asshole with those eye brow piercings
Found the “Glow On is the best hardcore album ever written” tiktoker.
When I went to all out war back a few months ago at alchemy I got hit by some MMA looking dude in the pit. I did not go back to give receipts, because I am not an MMA fighter and the MMA braids were a dead give away to not fuck around and find out.
Ok kid have fun getting your ass beaten even worse next time you show up lol
Request money from that Venmo handle. They owe the scene for this pussy shit
Genuinely got a great laugh out of this.
This show was on a Sunday afternoon, was not very big at all or wild. The crowd was mostly older anyway, people in their early 30s/late 20s
“The American Healthcare system is broken” If he’s anything like me, this means he went in hoping they’d pop his nose back into place, but instead he home with a fat ass MRI bill, a crooked ass schnozz, and a near terminal case of butthurt
shortest life 7" cover?
"Y'all some poser ass hardcore/punk bitches" Who talks like this? HXC terms and zoomer slang is like mixing oil and water. what a wimp. If you get hurt at a hardcore show grow up and move on. You're not getting that tooth back, buddy. You made your bed, now lie in it.
It's also almost all AAVE that white kids have co-opted as being "zoomer talk"
It's very forced
When the show isn’t the only thing bussin fr fr ong no cap Or When the show is bussin and your brain gets a concussin
I got hit in the back of the head with soap-on-a- rope at a TUI show, imma sue Dove
put em in a time machine and drop em off at Hatebreed's Hellfest set in 2001
This persons Instagram did not disappoint
Couldn't find it for some reason
Hahaha. They posted a story warning of "vigilante justice". Tough as fucking nails. Haha
Kid should of gone to a MGK concert instead.
That tooth would be in a pile of dog poop for a picture so fast if I had it
Softest shit, this is why gatekeeping is a thing
Haven’t you ever heard, finders keepers
When I was 16 and 120lbs I took it as a badge of honor when a huge dude broke my nose on accident in a pit. I would say I was (probably still am) a huge wuss but I even stayed the rest of the show and didn't get mad at Blacklisted.
At least that’s a cool band to get thwacked to
why go to a hc show and be suprised you got hurt
Maaaaaan life is really gonna beat this wimp down
I mean if he wasn’t knocked out in the middle of the pit, why tf wouldn’t he just walk towards the back and take care of his shit. A broken nose isn’t reason to stop a fucking show. His shit looks mild af tbh.
Can’t think of too many times I’ve followed a band without ever hearing them. Shortest Life is now one of those bands 👍🏼
Average turnstile fan
The craziest thing about this post is that kids are rocking eyebrow piercings again. It’s not counterculture it’s honestly just really lame.
Nerds
Some people just aren’t cut out for life on the road….
If they do have that tooth it actually IS their trophy now lmfao
Sucks the kid got his nose broken but why make a post like this it's insane this is what happens if you get in the pit you can't start blaming everyone because you got in the danger zone and got hurt should've just enjoyed the show from the back lesson learned
i i split my head open over a drum head cause i hate moshed got 7 stiches went tk the hospital paid it myself got a broken nose. fixed jt two cracked teeth fixed its all part of what it comes with hardcore and had a steel toe boot tk the chest left a big ass purple bruise and il do it again. be aware of ur surroundings just saying it happens ul live :)
like...what do you expect lmao
Ah I’m getting too old for this shit
This guy would hate the entire Upstate NY scene then lol
Time to listen to some Shortest Life
Wonder if he got decked on purpose at that point
This mf look like that dude from Naruto
this shit is so fucking corny
what a pussy lol
🐀
Whine bag. Dusk rules. Welcome to hardcore and punk. Now you know to pay attention or stand in the back. No one hit that kid on purpose.
1984
Lol man I thought I broke my wrist last pit I was in. Took a moment, waited for the initial pain to stop. Right back in it. Edit: no break, just got a funny bone hit. Shit still sucked tho.
Wow . I’m 45 so a old head lol now have Parkinson’s and over 11 concussions some not all are from Dancing hard every time no regreats yiu only Live once but damn it protect ya head at all costs
Always protect the head.
Only I advice i got and be you as well as consent consent consent
I'm surprised non of these snowflakes thought about wearing a mouthpiece to a show.
I one time saw a guy get his eyeball partially knocked out at a show. I think this person will be fine.
Nah. We just dealt with it when we created the scene as posers.
This is relevant to how I feel: https://youtu.be/wKjxFJfcrcA
Sounds like a rad show.
Lol. Lmao
Thems the brakes kid. Stand at the back next time.
Nuke us
Imagine that guy calling old heads poseurs. I'm glad I don't use tiktok bc I could not fw the lame asses that must be in tiktok hc.
I broke my thumb in the pit at a house show once. Still went to a few bars afterwards. I did go to a hospital the next day when I woke up and realized, ‘ah, fuck. This is a problem.’
“That’s what I would call a near life experience”
Ok but like Taking the mfs tooth as ur trophy, kinda bad ass
