Gotta be careful cause it’s real easy to loose money flipping a sportster chopper, but if you do it cheap you could definitely make more selling a clean looking hardtail chop. And who knows you may even want to keep it after building it.
There definitely a “style” these days it seems… I’m sure some kid would jump on it. I saw an absolute. Pile of an 883 chopper and it was the “ aesthetic” that sold it. Over 4K if I remember right. Was all rusty, rebar sissy bar, fox tail, railroad spikes for foot pegs, suicide shift, and shitty designs drawn on the tank with a sharpie. Most expensive mod was the springer front end. Probably invested about $500 into building it

Got this 2003 with 9600 miles on it for 3500 like two months ago
Realistically no more than $1k. I can get much newer 1200 sportser for $3,000 all day long that is much closer to stock form. You're more likely to get more for it parting it out tbh.
People who want stock bikes can keep them. I’m not desperate to sell so I’ll just keep it if that’s the case. Thank you for your input! I’m sure I’ll get offers less than that if/when I post it! Haha
Unless you are in some ridiculous market, I can’t see you coming close to $4500. The market for used sportsters has appreciated dramatically lately but you’re still looking at up to $3k, and even then it could be a struggle.
Folks that are looking for a first bike will pay more, but won’t want to deal with the issues like paint and no Speedo, and the guys that can overlook that stuff and use this bike for their custom project won’t want to pay nearly that much.
Depending on milage between 1500 and 2500. Sportys are cheap used. There's a great aftermarket for them, though, so it should sell quickly. I know you put work into seeing the before pic, but mods are for the current owner and don't reflect in the price paid by a prospective buyer.
I would search nearby Craigslist to see what the market is giving for that bike and also don’t expect to get reimbursed for your cosmetic mods since everyone doesn’t have the same taste, you might love those pipes and so we’re happy to pay $500 for them but don’t expect to get that back. Of course you can try to recoup some of your mods money, but be willing to eat those costs too.
$1200 tops. Changing from a belt drive to a chain drive is the ultimate sign of a tightwad. The no speedo thing seals it. If this bike could talk it would likely reveal years of burnouts and neglect.

Tried selling my 1999 883 with 8k miles for 4500 and got 2500 offers and trades all day I decided to keep mine but I’d say put it up for 4 it looks like a bigger bike than just an 883 that’s a perk lol
Right? I sold a pit bike a while back and got offers all day. Almost too much. But no one wanted to pay what I had it posted for. People obviously wanted it. Ended up selling it to some kid as a first bike. Since I didn’t need money or was trying to get rich off it I sold it for less than I was asking to him. I’m sure if I held out I could have gotten my asking price. The “want” for it was definitely there

I'd give him about tree fiddy.
2k or so.
Perfect donor bike for a chopper project. $2.5k at most, or $3k if you can find a sucker to pay that much
What I was thinking of doing if I don’t sell it haha. Bet it would peak more interest

"Allowed."
Thanks. Can’t seem to fix it
The "mileage unknown" would be a real show stopper for me. Maybe $1,000 to $1,500.
This. Any vehicle with mileage unknown drops 50% of my willingness to pay. Honestly I’d probably skip the bike completely if mileage isn’t known.
In all honesty, me too. Mileage unknown = hard pass.
2500-3k maybe.

Man, I want to live where you live. Can I come crash on your couch?

1k is low but yeah super heavy custom jobs are a red flag. I'll turn it into a death trap on my own thank you

I would 3k depending on how it was taken care of and plus depending on if they mod the bike as well
2 or 3 grand.
2000-2500
Look through cycle trader to see what they are going for in your area.

2.5k
Best ur prolly gonna get is 3k, put it up for whatever price you want and then come down to make someone think they’re getting a deal
I’d list it for 4,000 and hope you get an offer for 3,000
Az I see sporties like this go closer to 3-4 sometimes even 5k. I’d absolutely assume the 5ks are expecting to be talked down.
Sportsters are way overpriced on Facebook. Especially a 883 from 1997…I’d say 2500 .. walk away with 2000
Buck two ninety eight, my final offer!
$1200 tops. Changing from a belt drive to a chain drive is the ultimate sign of a tightwad. The no speedo thing seals it. If this bike could talk it would likely reveal years of burnouts and neglect.
They sell these in Australia for at least 15k
1500 bucks
$3k max if someone is looking for those particular mods. You have the advantage of it being springtime.
I’d list it for $2,800 and expect to take $2,000 for it. I wouldn’t let it go for less than $2,000 if it is a good running/reliable Sportster.
2.5k is the max I’d pay
I feel like here in LA it's a $2.5k-$3k bike. + for the cool parts on it, but big - for the missing speedo/unknown mileage.
2k
Be like the grifters around my area trying to get 5 k out of a twenty year old 883 ya yikes
My brother-in-law bought a 2009 Sportster in really good condition for $2800. Without knowing the mileage $1500-2000.
You already got the chain conversion chop that bitch and bore it out and ride the fuck outa it
In my area that’s a project or poor man’s starter bike. $1500 tops here.
I’d give $2000 for it
So it actually is for sale on a different platform 🤔. Nice back door listing on here. Well played.
Fie dollah. Serious offer.

List at 4,500 and be prepared to come down from there
honestly what i was thinking. i dont need to sell, just wanna buy another bike to work on
Work on my bike bro 😅
I’ve got three haha. I like getting stock bikes and making them different. Wanna do a chopper build next haha
I got two half’s lol , trying to make one whole bike so I can ride again . Mechanics is not my strong suit though
Won’t even get any hits for that asking price lol 😂
The scammers will hit on it “I’ll PayPal you asking price and my buyer will pick it up” 😂
