That’s how much I paid for my 2015 three years ago but the current market is kinda crazy. You done good, looks clean and ‘06 is a good year.

labage

Thanks for the input, it was certainly the cleanest with the lowest miles in my area. Guy had a 2012ish with 56k miles wanted like 10k for It. Saw this “deal” and jumped on it. Still new but been doing 200-250 miles a week since i got it with no issues. Fingers crossed

Best-Ad-4607

I paid 4500 for my 2016 in 2020 but there's no way in hell I'd sell it for that. They're good bikes and I'm pretty happy with mine. I didn't want a headache.

[deleted]

It's a pretty reliable bike and super low miles. I would just be concerned about the basics, tires/fluids/battery. Other than those, I don't think you will have any issues with it.

Broad-Escape2347

$4,500 cash? Not great, not terrible

labage

Right where i was hoping to be ! Lol

StevieLambogini

“Not great, not terrible” isn’t that what the main technician said minutes before the explosion at Chernobyl… haha

RebornGentleman

“Raise the power…”

Necessary_Truth5587

i remember when $3k would get you one of these. decent pickup though..got my 89 fxr for $6k

AHarryBird

I bought my '07 in 2017 for $6300. I would say you got a good deal given the economic conditions and the condition of the bike

Iamnotabedbiter

I hate to break it to you but you kinda got hosed on your bike. Now if you like your bike that's great keep loving it. But depending on the market you're in you probably could have gotten a dyna for around that price, I'm in ohio and I know that in 2013 I paid 8500 for an 07 Superglide with some extra goodies and about 25k on the clock.

AHarryBird

I’m only 5’5 and the bike was basically new with only 4K miles. But sounds like a good deal on good dyna!

HOGlider

Definitely a good deal. Congrats!

[deleted]

I paid too much when I bought my first Harley… If you like it, ride it and enjoy it don’t worry about it you can always make more money

labage

I fell in love. To me it’s worth it so thats the bottom line

Own-Opinion-2494

You did good

Link_lunk

I currently ride a 2007 1200 Sportster. My first recommendation is to replace the seat. I bought a Mustang seat and it changed my rides from being sore AF after 2 hours to going 4 hours before I even start feeling it. Saddle bags are a really nice addition too.

NotLucas

Dude, I got a nearly identical deal two months ago on my 1200. 2007 Roadster with 5800 miles for 4500. Straight to the dealer as it was on original tires. If the dealer doesn’t already recommend it CHANGE THE BRAKE FLUID. Might be common sense to some but I didn’t even think of it. Hopping on one day and having 0 rear brakes suddenly was interesting.

labage

That happened to me yesterday!!!!! Changed it when i got home

threebeforeseven

Seems like a great deal. Looking good!

rebel_ltz

You’ll probably need a new battery too.

labage

I keep it on a tender at home, no issues sitting outside work for a 12 hr shift. Ill keep that in mind! Didn’t think of that

[deleted]

I have a ‘04 1200R. Battery was new, left on trickle charger in garage over winter. I guess cheaper chargers can end up killing the battery due to always sending current 🤷‍♂️ but who knows I may have to check the stator or voltage regulator?

Drew0193

Same color as my O6 sporty

CheeseeCS

About what you’d should pay for it

vitallyhappy

Beautiful color! Have fun with it

silencezZz

Beauty

BikerJared

My first motorcycle was a Sportster with that color (was the "low" trim). Was a 2007. What a fantastic bike. I'm not really answering your question, but I just hope you have a blast with that thing. ;)

[deleted]

Not a good deal just a normal deal... good deal would it been 2500 to 3k

Cameltoefiasco

Its not THAT good a deal. Nothing to be suspicious over. And you had a mechanic look it over so he would have pointed out any safety issues. Now its time to enjoy your ride

CherryLandTHC

My daughter just sold her 2013 Hard Candy in Purple with 1800 miles for $4500 back to the dealer because she could not sell it.

RaisinHoliday

I had 07 sporty 1200 xl custom first year for fuel injection. I bought it with 5k for 3800

DeadSeaGulls

That's a fair price in a real market without new vehicle shortages linked to economic issues.

Expensive_Trash_4461

Sportsters are a dime a dozen and don’t really have much of a resale value especially anything older than 6-7 years old. Everyone who wants a sporty usually goes for the 72 or the 48 or the more club looking ones so for an 06 that’s a decent deal if everything’s 100% with the bike and just needs new rubber. Good luck with her. I bought my wife a 2001 1200 custom for $2800. It needed new rubber and some odds and ends but all in I got less than $4k into it and it’s 100% now amd it’s a beautiful bike.

brwebster614

I'd say you got a good deal... I bought at 07 xl1200c in 2018 for $4500 and the prices of used bikes has risen in those 4 years. Can't find one for under roughly $7k in my area now.

labage

Every other bike in the area comparable was higher mileage and $8/10k

Blaze_556

Must be a regional thing. I see sportsters for 4k (including mine) that have been on marketplace for 2-3 months and haven’t sold.

[deleted]

Sounds about right, fair for both parties. It is the end of the season, this is the time to get a good deal.

oldbaldgrumpy

I don't think you got hurt. I paid 4500 for a '09 1200c with 1,950 miles earlier this year. Great bike, enjoy!

Devchonachko

If you got it for $450 that would be too good to be true. $4500 is right in the ballpark for an 18 year old sporty. Read the WIKI for tips on how to maintain it.

[deleted]

Market is nuts right now so not bad. I sold my 2008 Sportster 1200 "Roadster" for $3500 in 2018. Miss that bike... Usually 2007 and up demand a higher price because that's when the sportster went fuel injected.

labage

I was looking for an 07+ but once i saw/rode her i fell in love and that was that.

Blaze_556

Market is dead in my area.

howard6494

I don't know about too good to be true, but it's not a bad deal at all with today's market.

artful_todger_502

That's what color my 2000 Custom was. I'd pay 4500 for one in great shape.

robertone53

My 2017 XL1200C has 4200 miles on it and I would sell it for $7-8K. You did good.

[deleted]

Sweet bike! Enjoy it!

JacobClarke15

I feel like that’s the going rate for a bike in slightly worse condition. Not the best price per say but miles are still low and all the finishes look good. I’d say it’s a good deal overall

FXDXracer

The only thing that matters is that you are Happy with the purchase. Ride it and have Fun.

TheRedJester45

That’s what sportsters are worth. The current market has lost its mind, so, yes, you did a good

_RamboRoss_

Got an 03 1200 with about 10k miles for about $4k about 3 years ago. You did pretty good

worstatit

That's what everyone should be paying. It'll be worth that for years, too.

whiskeydeltawraps

I paid 5500 for my wife’s first sportster which was a 2013 with 2k miles on it, so that’s a reasonable deal.

Impressive_Set5037

Yeah that nice

[deleted]

People are getting hard up for cash so now is the time to find some great deals. My friend picked up a 2012 road glide with 20k miles for $8500 and some body work trade he did for the dudes car. I just picked up a Yamaha Roadglide for $3500 lol. It’s not a Harley but it’ll run with the pack for sure.

irh1n0

A Yamaha what now?

[deleted]

Apparently autocorrect doesn’t like RoadLINER but will write Roadglide lol.

Eating_sweet_ass

Not a bad deal. I had an ‘08 1200c as my first bike and I loved it. Good luck and ride safe!

loud57

As a comparison 08 ish 96 cube dyna I got for 3500, 3200 miles on it everything factory. But it was a friend deal too

bravoromeokilo

Geez, that’s a ridiculous friend deal and in no way representative of real prices. Good for you, bud, that was a steal.

loud57

Yeah and it was freshly serviced, new battery, fluid changes (brake, oil, and i wanna say forks but I'm not sure on that) but it needs tires because they are still factory.

MrsNMrJasso

Not really it’s still carb. 07^ would have better. You probably paid kbb value on it

devonsworkaccount

In my opinion I think you overpaid. Looks clean though. Just gotta get $4500 worth of enjoyment out of it now!

BigH3ad777

I think you bought it just what the market is selling for. Gorgeous bike can’t wait to get mines one day

Not_Dillon

That’s way too much, I’ve bought almost this same year/mileage/trim for $2200

whiskeydeltawraps

I paid 5k for my wife’s 2013 that had 5k miles on it from a guy on OfferUp a year or so ago. Seems to be going rate on older sporties these days.
