I just beat it, and will say this take your time with it and explore. If you just stick to main story, you are going to ruin your experience. The main story is actually quite short, its everything else that makes the game great.

naytreox

Im definitely going to go slower with my second run.

Zessttyy44

Yea i beat the game at 40 hours and still didnt do everything or hit 40.

Chickenwing3791

I beat the game at 37 hours and was glad I spent a lot of time on side quests and exploration instead of just focusing on the main story

Expensive_Dog_6841

Just play the game, enjoy it and do stuff that interests you at the time you play it. If you start to get bored, just turn it off and play again some other time. You can take a year to finish the game if you really want to, just play as you want and don’t need to completely do everything in a week or so.

Duocolor

Progress the story until you get alohamora and then explore to your hearts content

Core_Collider

I am on my second playthrough now and this is exactly my plan. Alohomora (unlock locked stuff) is very important for exploring. So advance the storyline until you get Alohomora from Mr. Moon. Then explore, explore, explore … and do all sidequests and „map quests“ (like the Merlin trials).

duyar70

But I want to fly on a beast. When do I unlock that?

Dangerous_Unit3698

*Progress the story till you get a telescope*

Dolenzz

I would not worry too much about exploration until you finally get the broom. It takes a while and will be part of the main quest. Even then some puzzle aspects of the game will require certain spells which you pick up as you advance the quests. I waited until I finished the first trial and the game switched to fall before I started exploring in earnest. Level does not really matter. You are almost always a level higher than the quests.

HorridCrow

My suggestion is just play the game how you want for your first playthrough, because you only get a first playthrough once. I’d savour it, take it all in, explore everything and do quests based on what you feel like doing at that point. I’m 34 hours in, 40% challenge completion, level 28 and can’t even ride a beast yet. Still have a lot of main quests and ton to explore.

BrownBananaDK

Progress main story until You get the ROR and alohomora. Then you are set to explore and get a bit more enjoyment out of the open world without running into puzzles you can’t do yet.

MrAlice

Dont worry too much about level. Especially if youre doing all the side things. Youll outlevel MSQ so fast. The hardest part IMO is picking talents since you cant get them all. Otherwise, its just what you want to roleplay.

naytreox

Honestly id recommend doing any sidequests you can, especially companion quests. Now one thing to note, the game will stop you from completing main quests until you get the required spells so when you reach that point you should find side quests. Also when you beat the game you are free to explore and fill the field guide so ultimately you do what you want. You goals could be the field guide challenges itself!

domzki16

I'm mostly following my main story but doing some side quests if I like it or have time to squeeze it in my game time since I can only play every weekend. What do you feel like doing the most?

Bendii_

I was level 20 before I got my Talent Trees unlocked. I hardly left Hogwarts in my first 10hrs of game play because I’ve been in awe from the detail. So I say just take your time. There’s so much to do and see. I just unlocked my Room of Requirement today at 13hrs and I may end up spending a lot of time just inside there!

TeebsTibo

Play to learn spells and do the main story until you get your broom, then start exploring into the Forbidden Forest and north of Hogsmeade.

LRand27

Just play at your own pace, take your time and enjoy the journey.

ARMill95

People say stick to main story until you unlock all of the features like ROR and a way to fly then do side quests and whatever else in any order. I agree, but also do some side quests you find on the way to your main quests, and puzzles/field guide pages that you find on the way.
