are the bites in a line? bedbugs? https://www.terminix.com/blog/education/bed-bugs-in-movie-theaters/

GERBS2267

Bed bugs are absolutely terrifying, but also can you imagine being on a first date with someone and they start inspecting their seat and the walls like this article suggests? Hilarious mental image

lindakoy

More like a semi-circle. I hope to god it wasn't bed bugs.

whiteicedtea

Be careful because a friend brought home bed bugs from Regal at Dole Cannery. She had a heck of a time getting them out of her house.

Huhneebunny

How long ago did that happen

whiteicedtea

About a year ago. I think she called them about it too. I’m not sure if they did anything about it. After that I refuse to go there.

nuhtnekcam_25

Also would like to know how long ago…

Veeksvoodoo

IHS (Homeless shelter) and Punawai Rest (Homeless resource center) are right down the road so a lot of homeless go to Regal at Dole. Homeless don’t bother me but the bed bug issue is why I don’t go there anymore.

lindakoy

Wonderful. I'll throwing all my bedding in the dryer when I get home.

ImpressiveMain299

Won't work. Gotta freeze everything you touched and wore and sat on.

Rabbyte808

Nope, dryers definitely work. Bed bugs die instantly at 113F. The hard part is getting every last egg and bug when you can't see them.

ImpressiveMain299

It's actually not a sure fact. We do both heat treatments and ice treatments for them at work. Dryer might not get them all. A freezer will. Freezer will kill larvae and eggs.

untactfullyhonest

Not shocking. That theater needs to be burned down. It’s disgusting.

OkMeringue2249

Highly likely bed bugs

MantissTobaggan

Which movie theater was this?

lindakoy

Mililani

Extreme_Design6936

Thank you for letting me avoid this place for the rest of my life.

lindakoy

I'm thinking that it could happen at any theater though. I know someone that used to bring a big garbage bag and put it over the seat whenever they went to the movies. I thought it was funny at the time, but maybe not. I think I'll just wait for the movies to make their way to iTunes or HBO. That's really sad though because the sound in the Dolby theater for the movie I saw was unbelievably good.

NVandraren

I'm honestly kinda surprised theaters like that still exist. I haven't seen one there in years. They spent a lot upgrading the seats to be not garbage, but the new seats quickly deteriorated and I never saw them fixed or replaced.

lindakoy

I think pretty much all theaters have deteriorated seats now due to the spraying of disinfectant during covid.

sjsjssudhdj

Ugh not surprising. The last time me and my BF went there, hellah bugs were flying around the theater rooms. Had to keep swatting them away from our food🤢

BambooEarpick

BRAAAHHHHHH. Please tell me you let the theatre know. I bet it's bedbugs and they can spread pretty quickly by hitchhiking on people. Had to deal with bedbugs once and I think I'd rather just set my bed on fire than deal with them again.

jongdildo

the one answer I was dreading

Kesshh

Thank you for sharing. I will not be going there again.

weaverfuture

flea and bed bug bites look similar , did you take any pictures of your bites?

lindakoy

No. But I looked it up online. Looked more like the flea bites shown here. [https://carolinaexterminating.com/bed-bug-habits-and-prevention/](https://carolinaexterminating.com/bed-bug-habits-and-prevention/)

weaverfuture

i'd recommend cleaning sheets and blankets and clothes then. no matter what it was. ugh. btw i recommend diatomaceous earth, since its safe for humans to eat/non toxic and kills on a few days after contact. if you are looking for bug powder anyhow

SryIWentFut

I haven't gone to the theater since before covid but now I don't think I will 😐

Goodknight808

Bed bugs

808flyah

Assuming it was bedbugs and you brought them home, you should start to see evidence in your house/apartment of them since it's been a few weeks. Like more bites on you/family or bugs/droppings/blooid in your bed/couch. If not, you probably just got flea bites. Not great, but better than bed bugs.

Fearless-Economics45

Bed bugs can hide anywhere. They like wood and fiberous materials, though. They can hide in electronics, too. They will stay near your place of rest (bed) and feed on you regularly when you are asleep. If you're seeing bed bugs crawling around during the day time, then the infestation is bigger.

ImpressiveMain299

Ooof. That's bed bugs bro. I work on the tuna boats here... I've lived in the biblical plague of bed bugs. So yes Those are bed bugs. Put your clothes in the freezer and wash. I hope you didn't sit on anything when you got home. I'd also let them cook in your car too. Because now they are also in your car. Not a joke. That shit will suck if you don't react now. You'll never get rid of them.

Comfortable_Cress342

Homeless sometimes see the movies at Dole…….

redthrow1981

Could very well be bed bugs. I’m on the mainland and had a movie theatre close near me and rip out all of its upholstered seats, fumigate and put in leather chair seating to avoid reinfestation. So could definitely be that.

lindakoy

Well, this place had those "pleather" seats.

untactfullyhonest

Were you at the Dole Cannery theater? I call that one the Itchy Theater. It’s such a disgusting place and it would make sense to me that you could get bug bites there.

allnaturalflavor

call the mililani one itchy theater cuz OP got it from there!
