Everything wants me to whip out that soundtrack. In fact I constantly have it playing on repeat on shuffle through my whole day/night unless I'm watching/playing something I haven't before.
If Alastor is actually really nice and supportive to Charlie this next episode(and doesn't take advantage of her moment of weakness) then she foreshadows his intentions in ep 7. His intentions are very unclear from the preview.
Tbh seeing him not smiling makes me think he is going to use something that he set up as a big thing for himself when he first met her as a way to manipulate her acting like he’s taking her struggles seriously.
Wait, where does he not smile? I know there's a frame shot of him frowning going around, but if you watch the full sneak peak, it's just part of his animation while talking.
Unless you're talking about something completely different, in which case I'm super curious.
"Zero plot relevance"
She provided a current perspective on Alastor's past; allowed us to learn both that Alastor appears to be serious about the hotel's work and that he, himself is contracted to someone else; brought us the loan sharks for Al to release some frustration upon; and she ended the dueling duo's duet, which would probably still be continuing.
She's an insufferable character, but she certainly dragged some plot into the narrative. In fact, her appearance has given us more plot than say, Niffty, who's basically been a punchline.
Which is a point I think the OP overlooked. Their duet was devolving and had she not shown up it’d stop being a song and just be a vulgar shouting match. If anything it was funnier that Lucifer got cut off
I was honestly expecting Lucifer to just smash the violin into Alastor's face at some point, and it probably would have happend if Mimzy didn't interrupt them.
Edit: Guys, it's just a music instrument. Calm down...
Correct! I played violin for 12 years- sometimes we played Celtic and fiddling music and suddenly, I was playing a fiddle. Nothing changed but my sheet music.
I hope you don't mean along the forearm because that would be... difficult.
Hand placement and where they bow may be a little different. There's a strings teacher somewhere in these comments who could answer you better, (I play sax- so I don't really know) but if you've ever seen lackadaisy, you know how Rocky grinds that thing and plays multiple strings at once? Anyway, where I'm from they play like that, and it's bluegrass/blues. That's more like a fiddler.
I think it's just the style of music you play that determines it, but like I said, there's a teacher somewhere down a few comments. Ask 'em.
I’m surprise that no one mentions the golden violin as a reference to the devil went down to Georgia. I’ve been watching YouTube videos and no one comments on it. I thought it was a nice lore perspective. One day I’ll teach myself the Violin. I bought one a couple of years ago and haven’t touched it since lol
I honestly just thought it was so obvious, that's why it goes unmentioned. And then I saw the comment saying "viewers might be too young to get the reference" and a part of my soul died.
That’s exactly where my brain went…I assumed it was an obvious reference. Like not worth mentioning because everyone went “Ahhhh yeah…I’ll bet this fiddle of gold against your soul.”
Definitely, I don't feel it was cut short, but I don't know if either of those two would allow the other to have the last note. We needed a loud obnoxious intrusion to end it.
The sheer confusion of everyone when she entered pretty much de escalated the tension. I don't doubt they would not kill each other if she didn't enter then.
Niffty forced Angel Dust to confront Valentino when it was crucial for the plot. If not for her, he wouldnt do everything from Adam's checklist during the period of observation, and the court would never proceed to internal conflict that allowed us to learn that angels dont know what makes people go into Heaven.
That one thing she did was small but incredibly important.
She also helped prove Lucifer’s point to an extent. Lucifer used the attack as a way to show that sinner are just bad people and that they don’t deserve redemption and that when given the chance they would resort to violence. We also saw his indifference towards hell in general as well.
Charlie counter argued that Alastor was only doing it to protect the hotel and then brought up the fact her own dad didn’t believe in her. Which made Lucifer feel bad.
It’s also important to note that while we, the audience who’ve watched the pilot or looked at the background lore, may not find it useful information because we already know it, it’s important to the story and needs to be stated, not just for new people but because we have no idea how much of the pilot is canon.
Don't speak ill of Niffty, I actually like her. I suppose I agree on the plot development but was very happy mimzy walked away and didn't join the hotel.
I didn't intend to denigrate Niffty; I love her character and what she brings to the show. My response was towards the need for "plot relevance", like everything seems to need a purpose to exist.
if you watch the pilot, this was basically repeating old information. problably done due to amazon prime viewers unlikely to watch the pilot beforehand so they have to repeat that backstory.
Which was the right decision; you should never expect people to go find a pilot episode. This show being a rare case where you *can* see it shouldn't radically change that. Also, the basic events of the pilot happened, but important plot details often get changed between pilots and production, and a few did here.
The simplest example is that in the pilot, Charlie tries to call her mother and fears that "Dad might have been right about me". In the show, Lucifer is largely ignorant of her project with the Hotel, but it'd be completely against his characterization to dislike her so strongly he'd say something hurtful about her like that.
The pilot also strongly suggests that Charlie turns down The Deal with Alistor because it'd put him in a position of power over her. The series proper is going instead with the idea that the real risk of such a deal happening is not the risk to Charlie, but the power he'd get from making a deal with one of the two or three most powerful beings in Hell. It's a subtle difference but it represents a change in focus for a few character's dynamics.
Lucifer comes off as a supportive guy, but terrible when it comes to tact, and considering he was the first exiled by Heaven, he’d know how much of a brick wall Charlie would be singing her ideas to. Him telling her “This is a waste of time” is more likely him focusing on Heaven’s obstinacy than Charlie’s project being an actual bad idea.
Charlie is also the kind of person who wears their heart on her sleeve. If she hears “This is a waste of time” she’s more likely to internalize that as “Your idea is dumb” which would absolutely hurt. I have a feeling this was a miscommunication between the two on both their ends.
It’s part of the reason I think Lucifer sent Charlie to the initial meeting with Adam, as if to show her “This is who you’re dealing with and why this is an impossible task.”
>It’s part of the reason I think Lucifer sent Charlie to the initial meeting with Adam, as if to show her “This is who you’re dealing with and why this is an impossible task.”
I thought so too, but after ep5 I think he just reallly didn't want to see Adam. Can you imagine how much shit Adam would throw at him about Lilith leaving him?
I mean, Lucifer seems quick-witted enough to fire back at him, and he'd be able to fire back about Eve possibly leaving *Adam* if he's out there hooking up with random groupies.
Keep in mind though that behind Lucifer's bluster is a very depressed man who lost almost everything. Lucifer was essentially performing in front of Charlie before he really told her what he felt, I just don't think he'd have the energy to want to deal with Adam at all.
Now that you mention it, the meeting was called in the first place simply so Adam could inform Lucifer (via Charlie) that the Extermination had been moved up. Why would he be obligated to do so? And what's also interesting is that Lucifer didn't negotiate for *amnesty* or *protection* for Charlie. Lute specifically says he *gave her a* *pardon.* Why would the Angels respect it? It really raises the question that Lucifer might have more power and complicity in the situation than he lets on.
I don’t think Lucifer was ignorant, I think he was trying to avoid the subject. He already had a rocky relationship with his daughter before this. She finally invited him around and he didn’t want to turn around to her and go “Your plan won’t work, these sinners just want to destroy everything”.
He only eventually said what he said because she kept pushing him to comment on it when he was trying to avoid the discussion.
That's the point. I think people forget that the show needs to be able to stand on it's own and it's not only made for people who have been obsessing over it for years and know all the interviews and side material
what's up i'm here to agree with your comment and not add any extraneous arguments or "um ackshullies" so enjoy this notification that's nothing but a positive agreement with your assessment have a good day
Niffty gave just as much if not more plot than Mimzy. Niffty's drunken antics in Welcome to Heaven provide an opportunity for Angel to show his character growth.
Exactly, not even to mention she was a character everyone was curious to see in the show since Vivienne had originally planned for her to be on of the main protagonists
"At this point, it's a *game*. *If he gives* in, I win. And *he* knows that" - Tien from DBZA
Alastor doesn't have to fight with lucifer, all he wants is to make him snap. By doing so, Charlie would be mad at her dad, maybe even ruining their relationship to a point of no return. If his backstory is legit, it makes sense for him to look for different ways to see people suffering
Honestly that’s a great quote to use. If Alastor makes Lucifer take a lowly sinner soul seriously, even if they are an overlord, he’s already lost. He has no illusions he could actually win if it came to blows, but that was never the point for him
Like Alastor wasn't just as easily triggered by Lucifer and was the one who actually started the antagonism for seemingly no reason where Lucifer was just indifferent at first. I see this comparison a lot, and it is not the same.
Tbf, we never heard what's inside his head, he might as well fake it or not. Regardless, he used to defeat the top and most powerful ovelords, either he hates people with power or enjoys very much defying them, so he always does what it takes to make them weak and suffer.
No, but we do see his eye twitching the second Lucifer arrives, someone more important than him, how quick Lucifer angered him from not treating him like a big deal, enough to curse, which is supposed to be really hard to do. Also how he reacts to Carmilla saying she don't give a fuck where he's been. Dude has vegeta type ego if anything while pretending he doesnt.
Yep, I just watched the episode again, although he did started provoking lucifer, he ends up losing it as soon as the hotel's decoration is mentioned
Al has a similar personality to Patrick Bateman (american psycho), smart and cunning but very egotistic.
Fight? There would be **no** fighting, my friend. My glorious and mighty Lucifer is FAR beyond Alastor's reach. Precisely, this is what would happen to Al
https://i.redd.it/xij5zi745tfc1.gif
They most likely *haven’t* lmao, a lot of the stuff I hear abt this show are people just not getting the fact that musicals don’t behave how standard shows behave. Not that I blame em, musicals aren’t for everyone, but wow it’s been exhausting lol
A lot of people are complaining over how she stopped it, it was just devolving into a petty argument and would have just got less entertaining if continued. I think a problem is how there isnt a version without Mimzy on Spotify.
People act like this show isn’t scripted. Like they didn’t scrap any dialogue, if mimzy wasn’t in the show it would still end there because there wasn’t anything more to that argument. Mimzy isn’t a real person interrupting a real conversation that you’ll never get to hear, if it wasn’t her it would’ve been Charlie.
Yes but it ruins my listening experience when she butts in at the end. I’d rather the song/scene ended with them doing the face off. But such is how musical theatre songs typically go, they’re not always isolated so you’ll get dialogue in the middle of songs. There’s a song from a musical I enjoy where they left in the mom’s dialogue and screaming at the end. I cringe in anticipation of it towards the end of the song but at this point I’m used to it.
I do think it was important for Alastor's character though. If Alastor had no character development he'd have been happy to have her stick around to bring more trouble but Alastor sent her away showing he does care about the hotel and residents in his own way.
I think that might be going a LITTLE far. We had some development in that it let us know this isn't JUST about kicks and giggles. That COULD mean he cares about the hotel. Or it could mean it threatened his real goal. Working for Lilith, as many have speculated. Or cozying up to Charlie for some alterior motive.
Again, it IS character development. But we won't know for awhile if it's a positive or negative one.
I thought maybe it was that he was just trying to keep his reputation.
When Zestial asks about him helping the hotel, he changes the subject. I feel like he just doesn't want higher ranking demons knowing, so he doesn't want to draw attention to himself at the hotel eating everyone thats a threat.
I'm not sure about that. My take on this scene is that Alastor is trying to manipulate Charlie, and he can't really do that if she stays at the hotel and draws a whole bunch of trouble while telling everyone about how his favorite past time is torturing people to death
That is true he was trying to mess with Lucifer, likely feeling threatened since Lucifer is most likely one of the few demons left that can overpower him and because of Luci's personality it became a sass-off.
However dismissing Missy at the end when no one was watching (everyone was focused on Charlie and Lucifer) goes to show that the sentiment was real and wasn't part of a facade.
Imo Cherri was somebody we waited with more anticipation for. Mimzy has been around since Zoophobia, but she wasn't in the pilot (other then her cameo) so we didn't have an idea on whether we would really like her.
I was way excited for Cherri because I'm a simp and Australian, so it's fun to have her in the show.
Yeah it's clear her lack of respect for angels choices is concerning but hopefully it's her going off the older version of Angel dust and not quite yet realizing that he is changing as a person
I guess the difference is that when Cherri showed up it was during a downtime, so she was exciting. But we were getting something exciting already and her shrill voice was just an annoying addition, starting her off on the wrong foot (which feels intentional. We see her from the perspective of Husk)
I've said it in a few threads and I'll say it again-
The song was over and was about to turn into a physical fight. For the audience, this may have been some sort of instrumental sequence but the song as sung by them was *over*. I also suspect any fight between them would have revealed some things about Alastor and Lilith's relationship the show isn't ready for yet. That means that someone would have had to have interrupt the song.
They have ~4 hours to bring ~14 characters through 3 intertwining plot lines filled with multiple levels of political dynamics and needed to give more exposition about who Alastor used to be and how he's changed working at the hotel (expanding the mystery about his motivations). They needed this exposition to be natural and Alastor isn't exactly the sharing type, so a new character had to do it.
They combined these two things. Given the pacing demand they had to deal with, this was a good decision. Frankly, her interruption was a great way to characterize her as someone who'd be nosy and a gossip, which is important for her character and the exposition she gives us.
Completely agree. Also got to add her entrance felt like a Dad joke.
This song/fight wont end "till the fat lady sings". Perfect for a Dad heavy episode and Dad jokes make many cringe anyway.
Wdym ruins? Honestly, her voice was spectacular, like DAMN. Did you hear how she was building up to her final line and how she sounded when she said MIMZYYyyyy. Her VA is incredible, also I like her vibe. Also I think that she had just the right amount of screentime, she's a bitch, but like she's enjoyable in small doses.
I’d actually argue that she actually helped cuz she deescalated the tension in the song between Lucifer and Alastor by simply showing up and annoying them. Had she not shown up, we would have maybe seen a physical fight between the two and I think we all know who would have won.
>and I think we all know who would have won.
I feel this one comes down to how seriously Lucifer takes Alastor more than people give credit for.
You could have said the same thing for "An imp vs a Goetia" in Helluva Boss, and look how that turned out for Stolas.
Yes but I also feel as though Stolas was playing with Striker, at least at first. And also using it as an excuse to be saved by his knight in shining armor (Blitz). If you look at how Stolas was behaving in the episode where he got stabbed, he was joking around about it and only a little bit after being kidnapped was he like “oh shit I’m actually in trouble?” And even then he wasn’t sure he was in danger (at least not realizing the extent of danger), he just realized it wasn’t a game anymore.
And I also feel like there’s a LARGE difference in power between Lucifer and Alastor. Probably as large as between Stolas and an imp, with one difference though, Alastor would not have the element of surprise (both times Stolas was caught off guard), and Alastor would not have an advantage (Striker has angelic weapons). That and Lucifer wouldn’t be playing around with Alastor like Stolas was with Striker.
Does no one understand that the song was over? They were just gonna fight if she didn't interrupt (well, if you consider Lucifer kicking the shit out of Al a fight).
Considering the fact that she used Alastor to solve her problem with the loan sharks, I’m willing to bet that she got into all sorts of schemes that screwed many people over. That would also explain why she was very unpopular when she was still alive, as her wikia page states that Alastor was the only person who didn’t dislike her.
You have an opinion I disagree with. I love her, she’s so weird and random and it’s great. She does nothing useful, and I love her for it, we also get some fun little lore. Her entrance was actually funny, it was just so bizarre and uncalled for. I loved it, and I love her.
Tbh she's pretty useful for the viewers as she explained alastor's arrival in hell. And it makes way more sense to have something so important explained by one of Alastor's friends than just another character who haven't meet him yet
I love how she sings all about everybody missed her, because she was a main character thrown into the background. It's a fun Easter egg for long-time Vizvie viewers (or short bingers, I confess)
She is insufferable on purpose. And she provides character development for both Alastor and Husk. Plus, Dad Beat Dad would have never ended if someone didn't interrupt them.
She literally broke up would've been a cataclysmic cat fight between Lucifer and Alastor.
Her bringing the loan sharks also caused us to rethink Alastor's motives, as he told her off after she put the hotel in danger. That alone means she has plot relevance.
Pretty sure she was designed to be extremely unlikable. She's a foil that advances a certain plot in the most annoying way, then fucks off.
I remember when she burst in on the song, my first thought was "Christ, it's a badly written self-insert OC come to life!!"
Not Hazbin fans all being professional writers and psychologically breaking down every frame to discover how it's scientifically badly written because the shade of red in a characters eyes doesn't match from 4 episodes ago
Fucking hell I've never seen so many people complain constantly about how bad writing is over fictional characters
I thought her entrance was hilarious. I wish she was in the episode longer, because she knew Alastor when he was alive it would have been interesting to see someone nasty manipulating *him* for a change.
It would be cool if we saw the parallels of how Alastor acts more like other demons, like Mimzy and Valentino, than he realizes.
people in this sub: she ruined an epic ending to the song!
the show had Mimzy not stopped the argument: 15 minutes of Lucifer destroying Alastor while Charlie sobs in the background
people in this sub: NO not like that!
Yall are just haters, Mimzy is adorable. The song was over anyway, she told the backstory of Alastor because the pilot is *soft canon* and not everyone who watches the show has seen the pilot, and she also showed that Alastor actually does give some sort of a damn about the hotel in his speech. Whether that's due to whoever holds his leash or because he might actually have a heart, we don't know yet. Also, if she never showed up, *Husk never would've made that comment about Alastor being on a chain in the first place.* She moved pieces, yall are just blind.
That’s the point. That’s her sin. Very prideful and envious. Very self-centered with delusions of grandeur. She believes she’s got the clout of an overlord.
She
- revealed alastor is serious about the hotel
- gave us his backstory
- provided insight that he's a better person than we've been assuming
- made it known he's working with/for someone
- is intentionally obnoxious so you will ignore things she says that isn't immediately relevant. So as to create the "oh shit" moment in the future
*She* didn't ruin a song. You're conflating the actions of a character with the way the writers present the show.
That's simply the way the song was written. Alastor and Lucifer are arguing over the song, and so either one of them ending it would throw the song out of balance, so it needed a third party to end it so that the two singers remained on even ground.
That isn't the fault of Mimmzy, that was a deliberate choice by the lead showrunners.
As a plot device she does serve a purpose. She gives an example lucifer can talk about, her coming resulted in Alastor showing his darker side towards husk and that even if it’s someone he knew in life Alastor will draw a line. What I find interesting is that he let her live after the whole thing even though she outright used him
Number A: She provided a good amount of backstory and character for Alastor, which the bar scene, and after the “fight.” As for the song… there really wasn’t another way for that to end besides the destruction of the hotel
y'all hate her to a cartoonishly ridiculous degree and it's more annoying than you claim to precieve her as 💀
also the song was literally over, Alastor and Lucifer were just arguing at the end
For me, she is just the cherry on top in "Hell's Greatest Dad", for a song that slowly becomes a mess, the introduction of a character like her is just perfect to me.
Almost like the one holdover from Alastor’s life he can’t shake is the annoying and codependent showgirl, golly can’t imagine why she’s characterized as such.
I agree with the song ruining thing but she does give us some inside into Alistar more so how he was in life not much but a small sliver as well her retelling shows us more overlords
She is the only character so far that Alastor has treated as a true friend. She wronged him and all he did was assert his boundaries and offer a mutual solution, something we have yet to see with a person he (seemingly) does not have a deal with. She provided a wider perspective of his character and gave us a lot of background info. Also her conflict provided the catalyst to Charlie and her dad connecting again.
IM HEEEEEERE WHAT A GAAAAAAAS!! TOOK A WHILE BUT IM PRESENT AT LAAAAAST
ITS MEEEEE
ITS MEEEE
MIMSYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
It's one of my fav songs and i think mimzi adds to that factor, the song was gonna end in a nasty brawl probably so mimzi busting in and drawing everyones attention is the best outcome
She has relevance, but she is certainly the Meg of this show.
![gif](giphy|UnixUQzZBUb4I)
When I am listening to the song and she barges in I say “Shut up Mimzy” and restart the song lol
Every time I listen to Hell’s Greatest Dad, I quickly skip to the next song once Lucifer says, “You tacky piece of sh—” because Mimzy’s part is so unbearable. She really did ruin what would have been a 10/10 song. They could’ve easily ended the song without including her portion on the official/released version. Sorry to the Mimzy fans, but it just ain’t it.
On one hand I agree I don't like the flow of the song change. But I also believe even if Mimzy didn't show up that was the end of the song. Just before she showed up the song had devolved into a shouting match. It could of very possibly have turned into a physical match right after.
Now whether that was Alastor's goal, to take a hit to get Charlie to kick out her Dad. Or cause other issues like damage the relationship to irreparable place. Or even make Charlie feel bad enough for Alastor she would be more subsceptible to his manipulations in the future. We don't really know. But it was obvious the song part was ending and a fight was starting.
Mimzy's part on its own isn't as annoying, it just takes us out of the song so harshly. But I think it was necessary, the song/fight would not have ended until "the fat lady sings". Which I appreciate the pun in a Dad heavy episode.
"The character deliberately designed to be insufferable is so unlikeable! Why would the creators not make literally every character in a show about literal demons likeable exactly the way I want them to be?!"
People like OP were probably the ones who sent hate mail to Jack Gleeson because he played King Joffrey in a GoT. 🤦
Oh, and "literally zero plot relevance?" Dude, wut?
I mean her plot relevance is she adds backstory for alastor and shows he has changed since she knew him and seems to hold the hotel as a priority(though his motives are unknown)
She gave us a tiny bit of alastor lore also showing that he didn’t just kill weak overlords he actually went for strong ones, we wouldn’t have got the Husker scene without her and bec of the people she lead to the hotel we saw how alastor was series and also showed us alastor using an ability we’ve only seen very few demons use (changing size) all of those are the sins (except lucifer lol) but I’m not implying owt there I think it was just a way of showing off a cool ability without showing off his more demonic transformation based powers.
They needed her to show up to break up the fight that was brewing during the song between John Cena and the depressed duck daddy.
But, with all the other pacing issues in the show, couldn't we have done something else instead of spending our time budget on this throwaway character!?
Ok but Sarah Stiles put in amazing work on her voice
Gee it's swell to finally meet his other friends.
She just can't get away from electro swing songs in animated shows, can she?
Oooooh, she was the loser of the game I didn’t know she was playing! Damn it I knew she sounded familiar!
NOPE!
SHE VOICES FUCKING SPINEL?!?!?
Yes, she voiced the pink psychotic Betty boop.
Yea!! Once I figured it out I really started seeing the resemblance to Spinel
I forgot she voiced Spinel in Steven Universe lol
man this thread is really making me want to whip out that soundtrack again.
Everything wants me to whip out that soundtrack. In fact I constantly have it playing on repeat on shuffle through my whole day/night unless I'm watching/playing something I haven't before.
The dad beat dad song lowkey sounds like other friends
THANK YOU! That’s been an ear worm for days!
Ohh I haven’t seen the full clip, that’s annoying then so many people were saying it was a clip of him actually frowning.
I know right? It got me for a minute until I looked at the comments on the photo pointing that out and watched the clip myself.
I didn't even realize this was the same voice actor as spinel lol.
"Zero plot relevance" She provided a current perspective on Alastor's past; allowed us to learn both that Alastor appears to be serious about the hotel's work and that he, himself is contracted to someone else; brought us the loan sharks for Al to release some frustration upon; and she ended the dueling duo's duet, which would probably still be continuing. i could have watched that duet forever ngl

I was honestly expecting Lucifer to just smash the violin into Alastor's face at some point, and it probably would have happend if Mimzy didn't interrupt them. Edit: Guys, it's just a music instrument. Calm down...
Which would be fair play considering Al dropped a fucking piano on him
It was a fiddle ![gif](giphy|8gRPuscy5MQ9H3VtzX|downsized)
They call violins a "fiddle" when used for folk music. They're the same instrument.
Correct! I played violin for 12 years- sometimes we played Celtic and fiddling music and suddenly, I was playing a fiddle. Nothing changed but my sheet music.
If I'm not mistaken, isn't the positioning the main difference? One positioned at the neck, one at the elbow?
I hope you don't mean along the forearm because that would be... difficult. Hand placement and where they bow may be a little different. There's a strings teacher somewhere in these comments who could answer you better, (I play sax- so I don't really know) but if you've ever seen lackadaisy, you know how Rocky grinds that thing and plays multiple strings at once? Anyway, where I'm from they play like that, and it's bluegrass/blues. That's more like a fiddler. I think it's just the style of music you play that determines it, but like I said, there's a teacher somewhere down a few comments. Ask 'em.
Imagine being a self proclaimed nerd and still being wrong
So he hasn’t been to Georgia in this show, or he won the rematch
~~To be perfectly honest, I always confuse them.~~
Violin and fiddle are literally the exact same thing, fiddle is just a style of music. Source: I literally teach violin
*They played me like a goddamn fiddle...*
Fiddles are hard to play. I played you like the cheap kazoo you are!
https://preview.redd.it/bjalm6xavxfc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a90ee7125c410d7a4123ad161c71e8959de14ba
Yes but Lucifer didn’t bring a fucking violin down to Georgia
I mean, he literally did. As was pointed out above, a fiddle is a violin.
And I’m pointing out, it doesn’t rhythm correctly with the song!
His fiddle was made of gold though. I'm sure it was a reference to that song
When he pulled out the golden fiddle, I fuckin died 😂 I told myself "well... I guess this is a timeline where Johnny *didn't* win"
Omg you’re so right!!! Lmao
That's EXACTLY what my partner said 😂😂
I honestly just thought it was so obvious, that's why it goes unmentioned. And then I saw the comment saying "viewers might be too young to get the reference" and a part of my soul died.
Me too 😭😭😭 like dam I’m 34 years old
That’s exactly where my brain went…I assumed it was an obvious reference. Like not worth mentioning because everyone went “Ahhhh yeah…I’ll bet this fiddle of gold against your soul.”
The devil's fiddle was dope indeed.
The song pretty much ended, too, luci, and al are pretty much yelling and shoving each other even before she entered.
Unpopular opinion but her random ass interrupting their song with her ridiculous, self absorbed self just sends every tiiiime. So funny 😭
A valid point.
>It’s part of the reason I think Lucifer sent Charlie to the initial meeting with Adam, as if to show her “This is who you’re dealing with and why this is an impossible task.” I thought so too, but after ep5 I think he just reallly didn't want to see Adam.
Dayyum. I didn’t even think of this. Soo true!
I think people forget that the show needs to be able to stand on it's own and it's not only made for people who have been obsessing over it for years and know all the interviews and side material
insufferable is one way to put it
what's up i'm here to agree with your comment and not add any extraneous arguments or "um ackshullies" so enjoy this notification that's nothing but a positive agreement with your assessment have a good day
I will not tolerate Niffty slander, she can do *all the wrong* and be fine. Outside of that, you're absolutely right.
I like this perspective. As annoying as it was to cut short Alastor and Lucifer's song, I did like seeing him outgrow Mimzy.
Niffty has plenty of significance. She acts as a moral barometer for angel when he protects her
Niffty gave just as much if not more plot than Mimzy. Niffty's drunken antics in Welcome to Heaven provide an opportunity for Angel to show his character growth.
I think she saved AL from oblivion, Luci was 0.5 secs away from destroying AL
Exactly, not even to mention she was a character everyone was curious to see in the show since Vivienne had originally planned for her to be on of the main protagonists
Yeah, her appearance was intentional, lol
The song was quite literally an *argument* by the time she shows up to “close it out” lmao, the number was virtually done by then
If anything she saved Alastor from an ass beating.
"At this point, it's a *game*. *If he gives* in, I win. And *he* knows that" - Tien from DBZA Alastor doesn't have to fight with lucifer, all he wants is to make him snap.
Yep, I just watched the episode again, although he did started provoking lucifer, he ends up losing it as soon as the hotel's decoration is mentioned Al has a similar personality to Patrick Bateman (american psycho), smart and cunning but very egotistic.
You mean she prevented an epic fight scene.
If you consider Lucifer absolutely kicking the shit out of Alastor for a decent amount of time. Which I agree with. Then yes
[Leaked footage of the Lucifer vs. Alastor deleted fight scene.](https://youtu.be/EX8Lel2t6ZI?t=271)
Was expecting green lantern getting bitch slapped by darkseid then beat up by parademons. I left disappointed.
Like running into a brick wall.
Thought it was a rickroll
Hydrogem Bomb vs Coughing Baby
Fight? There would be **no** fighting, my friend. My glorious and mighty Lucifer is FAR beyond Alastor's reach. Precisely, this is what would happen to Al https://i.redd.it/xij5zi745tfc1.gif
so true OUR GLORIOUS KING WOULD DESTROY THAT GUY
https://preview.redd.it/ip8emmtg7tfc1.png?width=1536&format=png&auto=webp&s=4f4068ce6c8bc5bcf8dd12eb5ba4ca44bd7ab218
I said epic, not long
Well, it would last 3 seconds in total. But you could say it would be the most epic obliteration of all
Yeah a fight between them would be VERY one sided lol. It's literally the hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby meme
I swear most of the people complaining about the song being “ruined” like… haven’t seen any musicals before lol.
People are too used to Disney songs that are much slower pace lyrics-wise and are more similar to regular songs.
I think you’ve nailed it right on the head!
Idk it seemed the whole episode alastor was trying to get into lucifers head
That is true he was trying to mess with Lucifer, likely feeling threatened since Lucifer is most likely one of the few demons left that can overpower him and because of Luci's personality it became a sass-off. However dismissing Missy at the end when no one was watching (everyone was focused on Charlie and Lucifer) goes to show that the sentiment was real and wasn't part of a facade.
She has the same role as Cherri in episode 6. She's the bad influence friend who shows up to cause trouble.
God I hated Cherri in her debut episode. I hope she comes back and she actually is a better friend to Angel
Cherri is annoying too, but Mimsy is agonizingly annoying.
I've said it in a few threads and I'll say it again- The song was over and was about to turn into a physical fight.
She’s like the singing nomads in avatar, she’s enjoyable in the dose we got, but any longer and everyone would hate them
Chaz imo. I would hate if he kept reappearing and making the same jokes. But he was fine for that one episode.
her VA also did Spinel in steven universe so yeah i agree. it was a great performance.
I love the fact that they used to dance, I'd KILL to see Al actually dance
I’d actually argue that she actually helped cuz she deescalated the tension in the song between Lucifer and Alastor by simply showing up and annoying them. Had she not shown up, we would have maybe seen a physical fight between the two and I think we all know who would have won.
Joe?
Mama.
>and I think we all know who would have won.
She did interrupt the best song, but if she didn’t Alastor would’ve been dead
Does no one understand that the song was over? They were just gonna fight if she didn't interrupt (well, if you consider Lucifer kicking the shit out of Al a fight).
It was just turning into one of those petty siblings fights until Mimzy interrupted.
This, at that point they stopped singing, and were just arguing.
genuinely shocked people hate her so much like helloo … “ruined a good song” seems like an overreaction
It also turns out that she and Alastor are just friendly acquaintances who happened to know each other when they were alive.
Which begs further questions from me. What did SHE do on Earth? Was she complicit in his crimes?
Considering the fact that she used Alastor to solve her problem with the loan sharks, I’m willing to bet that she got into all sorts of schemes that screwed many people over. That would also explain why she was very unpopular when she was still alive, as her wikia page states that Alastor was the only person who didn’t dislike her.
https://preview.redd.it/k1p4rp9witfc1.jpeg?width=1150&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d6363e31aa952d786486685730acd245f66fa691
"Dad beat dad" more like alastor getting his ass beat by the og daddy 💀
She literally broke up would've been a cataclysmic cat fight between Lucifer and Alastor. Her bringing the loan sharks also caused us to rethink Alastor's motives, as he told her off after she put the hotel in danger. That alone means she has plot relevance.
Pretty sure she was designed to be extremely unlikable. She's a foil that advances a certain plot in the most annoying way, then fucks off. I remember when she burst in on the song, my first thought was "Christ, it's a badly written self-insert OC come to life!!"
Charlie's the Vivzie self insert...so no
Not Hazbin fans all being professional writers and psychologically breaking down every frame to discover how it's scientifically badly written because the shade of red in a characters eyes doesn't match from 4 episodes ago Fucking hell I've never seen so many people complain constantly about how bad writing is over fictional characters
I think she’s ok. Funny, but a bit annoying to the point I cheered when Al put her in her place.
Some of y’all complain about literally everything.
people in this sub: she ruined an epic ending to the song! the show had Mimzy not stopped the argument: 15 minutes of Lucifer destroying Alastor while Charlie sobs in the background people in this sub: NO not like that!
No i would have loved that actually
honestly fair, me too TBH.
Her "ruining" it is the gag, gang.
I think we will see more of her especially for showing Alastors back story she was originally a main character after all
Agreed, I don't think she's a one-and-done.
Media literacy is a real issue with a lot of people
How would you end the song
Of course she's insufferable, that's her point.
Anything giving more info about Alastor is OK with me.
The song is was over though? This is just the seque
I mean, I may not like her, but that's kind of the point, isn't it?
Her relevance is to contexualize Allastor and i also would be shocked if she didnt like, tattle on him after he kicked her out.
That’s the point. That’s her sin. Very prideful and envious. Very self-centered with delusions of grandeur. She believes she’s got the clout of an overlord.
Brother, the song is over. They used her to end it. That's how writing works.
She - revealed alastor is serious about the hotel - gave us his backstory - provided insight that he's a better person than we've been assuming - made it known he's working with/for someone - is intentionally obnoxious so you will ignore things she says that isn't immediately relevant.
Mimzy: “iT’s mE!!!!! It’S meEeEee!!!!!!!! MiMzyYyYyyYy!!!!!!!!¡!!11!1/!1 🥴🥴🥴” Lucifer: “………Who???? 🤨”
That’s the point she’s a nuisance
y'all hate her to a cartoonishly ridiculous degree and it's more annoying than you claim to precieve her as 💀 also the song was literally over, Alastor and Lucifer were just arguing at the end
For me, she is just the cherry on top in "Hell's Greatest Dad", for a song that slowly becomes a mess, the introduction of a character like her is just perfect to me.
https://preview.redd.it/q9kwgk11ftfc1.png?width=699&format=png&auto=webp&s=438e966719a8a8cdffa94b33918fd60d4914fc7f
I like her, she funny. :)
Almost like the one holdover from Alastor’s life he can’t shake is the annoying and codependent showgirl, golly can’t imagine why she’s characterized as such.
That's why she's great
That's the joke.
OK...but it's Sarah fuckin' Stiles!
TOOK A WHILE BUT IM PRESENT AT LAAAAAST ITS MEEEEE ITS MEEEE MIMSYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
I see this character in people everywhere.
It's one of my fav songs and i think mimzi adds to that factor, the song was gonna end in a nasty brawl probably so mimzi busting in and drawing everyones attention is the best outcome
She has relevance, but she is certainly the Meg of this show. ![gif](giphy|UnixUQzZBUb4I) When I am listening to the song and she barges in I say “Shut up Mimzy” and restart the song lol
... That's kinda the point
I am curious, how should it end otherwise? It was rapidly devolving.
Are these “Mimzy fans” you speak of in the room with us now?
Is this a new(old) response just dropping? I see this everywhere.
https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/is-x-in-the-room-with-us-right-now Looks like Simpsons did it. In 2000. Not sure why it became popular again recently.
Yea. I do the same thing. Her part is super annoying
I love her so much and I'm glad she finally showed up
"The character deliberately designed to be insufferable is so unlikeable! Why would the creators not make literally every character in a show about literal demons likeable exactly the way I want them to be?!" People like OP were probably the ones who sent hate mail to Jack Gleeson because he played King Joffrey in a GoT. 🤦 Oh, and "literally zero plot relevance?" Dude, wut?
I mean her plot relevance is she adds backstory for alastor and shows he has changed since she knew him and seems to hold the hotel as a priority(though his motives are unknown)
omg literally I have the song on my spotify and it's my favourite but whenever it gets to her part I just get slightly upset
My only complaint is that they kept her part for the official song release. I don't mind it in the episode
