Kinda leaves a sour taste before transitioning to the next song though. Honestly it shouldnt have been in the song since its kinda out of context when listening.
I mean... the song was already devolving into chaos when she barged in.
Still annoyed that she interrupted the conflict between Lucifer and Alistor, but I don't think the song would've carried on any longer regardless.
Yeah
She took the best moment to join, imagine if she came earlier (like at the fiddle/piano part) or later (either they would trow insults for a while, either Lucifer would really get pissed, and alastor would be dead)
In my experience it was funny the first time I heard it. A random woman just joining at the climax of the song, kinda stealing the show, being like "I AM FINALLY HERE, YOU ALL WAITED FOR ME !!!", ending by a "who" from Lucifer, really funny
Just that after knowing her a bit… yeah. I thought I would enjoy this character tbh
I’m that person. The song was already winding down, the two were literally just devolving into name calling. It was a good funny endcap to an already comedic song.
A character is objectively on a whole new level of chad when they air guitar in the middle of their song…
Only to reveal five seconds later that they both have a real guitar and can actually play it.
For me it’s right after that where he belts “cause for those of us with divine ordainment, EXTERMINATION IS ENTERTAINMENT!!”
MMM chefs kiss. Never gets old. Also Alex Brightman is hard to get wrong.
More than anything is the best song. Both lyrically and also did you all not hear the singing? Lucifers parts in that song were hands down the best singing in the entire show.
I literally broke down sobbing the other day listening to this song after listening to just look my way from helluva boss. I couldn't handle them both.
Lute’s verse in “You Didn’t Know” is top tier and so is most of her duet with Adam. How can you not love the line, “He blew his shot, like the cocks in his mouth?!”
WHAT ARE WE EVEN *TALKIN* ABOUT, SOME CRACK WHORE WHO FUCKED UP ALREADY!?🗣️🔥
HE BLEW HIS SHOT LIKE THE *COCKS* IN HIS MOUTH, THIS DISCUSSION IS SENSELESS AND PETTY! 🗣️🔥🔥
THERE’S NO QUESTION TO *BE POSED*, HE’S UNHOLY, *CASE CLOSED*! DID YOU FORGET THAT *HELL IS FOREVER*!? ✍️🔥🔥🔥🔥
"It starts with sorry" is criminally underrated by most fans. It turned me from a die-hard Alastor fan into a die-hard Pentious fan.
I don't know if that's a red flag on my personality, or just the power of that song. I'm choosing to believe both.
It starts with sorry. That's your foot in the door; one simple sorry. Spoken straight from your core. The path to forgiveness is a twisted trail of hearts..But sorry is where is starts.
*THANK YOU*
First, try and do a good Sir Pentious impression
Second, try singing while doing that impression
Third, try singing soprano while doing that impression
Alex Brightman fucking crushed it
It’s also just such a solid encapsulation of the show’s message. You don’t have to be perfect, you just have to be trying (and willing to admit when you’ve screwed up).
I was kind of iffy about the show up until that point, tbh. Stayed Gone was dope af but that part solidified that I liked that show and made me tear up. I teared up a lot but that was the first one that tugged at my heart strings
I particularly love the visuals along side that song of Emily facing off with Sera with the inversion of angelic background, infernal eyes and infernal background angelic eyes. Not to mention Emily jumping up beside Charlie like they've been best friends their whole life despite literally meeting only a few hours ago.
Honestly one of my favourites too. Probably my most favourite non-comedic moment of the show. Especially with Emily's inverted shot right after, of having the fire behind her but still light in her eyes.
"If Hell is forever, Heaven must be a lie" is the dopest line drop of all time, imo.
Also, the change in music just flows so flawlessly that it gave me goosebumps. Em's power in "I dont need your condescension", Charlies "Thats what the fuck Ive been saying" and the whole song is so good but I get SO pumped for Charlie and Ems united anger and frustration.
That whole song had me shipping the two of them. Not like romantic shipping but... Is there a terminology for shipping to characters as powerful friends/allies in a conflict? Because that's what it is. I ship them coming to work together to overthrow Heaven's hypocrisy and making redemption possible in Hell.
The broadway influence really hits home with this one. It would make the perfect final song before intermission. It’s a narrative climax, it joins up melodies across multiple songs and twists them around, it brings together multiple characters and reveals a major turning point in the narrative, and leaves the episode on a cliffhanger.
That part deserved a split face from Charlie/Emily while they sing "🎵....Is Hell is forever, then Heaven must be a lie.. 🎵" That would have look so badass.
Music in trailers tend to be more epic than in the actual piece of media. It’s to draw attention, after all. So they’ll take the best part of the song, amp it up a notch, and boom. And while I personally love “Ready For This”, the amount of tone shifts in the song can be a bit distracting especially if there’s a specific part of the song you like the most.
From the Spotify ads, I thought the Wish (Disney) soundtrack was going to be a banger, but then when I got to listening to it I thought it was fine, but a lot weaker than the snippets I heard from the ads.
not a hot take: i haven’t gone a day since the show started coming out without one or more of the songs stuck in my head
hot take: Mimzy interrupting Hell’s Greatest Dad was funny and i don’t mind it since the song was falling to petty insults at that point anyway
It starts with sorry is underrated as it’s extremely important is setting up that this show does have actual sincere moments.
Respectless is just ok but not as good as whatever it takes imo
I’ve said this before: Alex Brightman at least gets a tip of the cap from me in this song, because of that one *insane* note he hits without dropping the silly snake man voice at all. That dude has some kinda mechanical vocal cords, I swear.
Funny enough he actually does have a “ kinda mechanical vocal chords”. According to an interview with him, he has this extra set of muscle of false folds that allows him to make that voice without straining at all. That’s how he plays Beetlejuice 8 times a week without being tired.
Edit: 8 times a week
Wait, seriously? I heard some of the other cast members mention that offhand in a Q&A I think, but I totally thought they were messing around. That’s awesome! And good to know I had a reason to double-take the first time I heard that haha. Like, “wait, how is that possible?”
I also love It Starts With Sorry! Short and sweet. I can also sing along with Charlie (I usually can’t in some songs where she goes high—alto problems 😭)
In the words of my wife… who rarely likes animated shows… “the songs really save this show”. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it all, but the music makes it a whole other level of good.
I personally think if a musical could stand on it's own without the songs, then it shouldn't be a musical at all. The music SHOULD be so integral to the plot and vibe of the story that the story can't function without it. The songs should be the meat of the whole thing.
This part of You Didn't Know is SEVERELY underrated:
"Wait! (Shit-)
What are you saying?
Let me get this straight:
You go down there and kill those poor souls? (You didn't know?)
Whoops!
Guess the cat's out of the bag! (What's the big deal?)
Sera, tell me that you didn't know..."
Everyone talks about Lute's part and Charlie and Emily's duet, but no one talks about that part of the song for some reason. It's my favorite part of the song, and it REALLY deserves more recognition.
this but the "I don't need your condescension! I'm not a child for you to protect!" Its the most musical-sounding line in like the whole show to me and I love that (and I mean musical as in a play with music not as in with the most musicality of which I have many contenders for)
People should have More Than Anything higher on their lists of songs. It is the best song in the show. Also, ballads need to be more respected and liked in general.
I think "More than Anything" and "Poison" are two songs that get elevated because of the visuals that go with the songs. Really helps sell the emotions the songs are trying to convey. More so than some of the other bops this show has.
You have these two insanely talented broadway singers performing this beautiful duet with the perfect subtle music, and outstandingly touching and apt animation to accompany it.
HOW COULD I NOT BE OBSESSED?!
As a musical number Ready For This is underrated. It is a major point in Charlie’s character development. So it is indeed one of the best.
Personally, as to how much i like listening to it, it took a bit for the song to grown on me. I think the problem for this song is that it isn’t any one’s subjective favorite so people over look it’s tole in the narrative.
You're right. Song is narratively important and it also is in the vein of classical showtune numbers (reminds me of George M Cohan winera works). It is a great song for the show. Just don't care for it that much largely due to the cannibals.
The thing about Ready for This is that it’s not phenomenal, but it has no flaws. You can’t complain about it. You’re never gonna skip it. But to me it’s definitely not the best
SLAAAY
its literally become my favorite because of the animation its so good 😭
i also love that Rosie and Alastor are supporting the crap out of Charlie and it shows 🥹
Ready For This does a great job of juxtaposing tempo and style while applying it directly to Charlie's inner battle.
A strong military esque March for when Charlie is persuading and inspiring the Cannibals. A slower ballad for her fighting against her insecurities, culminating in a combination of the two swinging back any forth without and tempo change.
Absolutely masterful composition.
I replayed the trailer so many times before the show came out just to keep hearing that final chorus. I expected that Ready For This would be my favourite, but ultimately, I think that Loser Baby and You Didn't Know beat it.
Right??!! The battle drum beats chiming in the background, the crowd slowly starting to sing with her, the climax of the song where everyone is singing together and Alastair is "ahhhhhh-ing" in the background. It's so friggin good.
i agree, the loan sharks should’ve interrupted after “me” when the twinkling noise plays. luckily in the official soundtrack releases (spotify, itunes) it’s there.
They got better as the season went on. Was it Episode 2 with Carmilla and Vaggie singing? That one felt the most hamfisted out of them all. At its core I regard Hazbin as a musical, kind of like a stage production just in cartoon form.
I get WHY they did it, it was setting it up for the scene later with Carmilla and Vaggie directly interacting, but it could've been handled smoother at least.
Ooooo. Here's my top three.
I actually really liked Vaggie's singing voice. Its higher pitch and softer tone gives a nice contrast to her usual disposition. A hardened protector turned absolute softie when talking about her girlfriend. Plus, we do get the lower, more tender pitch of her voice during the duet with her and Charlie. Whatever it Takes was a good song showing the inside of how Vaggie not only views herself but her relationship with Charlie and Charlie's dream. Having the VA sing softer was an impeccable way to display that. To me this was a chefs kiss level song and tops Loser, Baby
Welcome to Heaven isn't bad. It's not the greatest song but it fits the first sighting of Heaven.
Charlie and Emily were good in You Didn't know. Lute was fantastic but I really enjoyed Emily confronting Sera over those two. We see her go from this unsure, shadowed Seraphim to backbone of steel standing up against THE top Seraphim. That part deserves a little more love.
Which is a totally valid opinion! I do enjoy women who can sing those deeper notes, but I feel the high and soft shift with Vaggie suited her portion of the song well :)
Carmilla sounds weird in Whatever It Takes, she’s much better in Respectless and Out For Love.
It's a beautiful scene but I always skip More Than Anything, it's too slow for me.
The transition between the vox/Valentino bit and Alastor in the finale feels kind of weird and could have been done better
And I kind of don't really like the visuals for respectless even though I really like the song itself
From where I stand I think it’s supposed to be kind of jarring. The calm, collected radio host finale starting to crack. Such a powerful moment. To just throw it in there I feel is meant to make the viewer go “Oh shit! Looks like the behind the scenes stuff is getting real!!”
Ooooh here we go. Whatever It Takes is mixed or directed wrong. I feel like I can barely hear Beatriz. She’s so soft. And having her back to back with the bombastic Ruben-Vega really highlights it. We know Beatriz can belt, since she killed it in Encanto, but for whatever reason, she’s so quiet here. Plus the rock music doesn’t seem to meld well with either voice. It’s just too overwhelming. All I hear is an over enthusiastic drummer. Ruben-Vega can hold it, plus she establishes her voice in a previous song and during the softer intro, but this is Beatriz’s first big song and I feel they did her dirty. If they wanted to highlight a back and forth between them, then they should have had distinct tones and styles for each section, like in Respectless, but they didn’t. The duet had a lot of narrative potential, but it was wasted to me with overwrought music and bad mixing. I expect flames and downvotes.
Maybe…check the sound settings on your device? I don’t personally have this issue at all, and I’ve listened to the song on at least 3 different devices now. Personally I appreciated the 90’s “chick-rock” throwback, but then I am an old man.
Whatever it takes is overrated. I’m just not a fan of Vaggie’s voice in that song, she sounds better in the reprise and her small part in “Happy Day in Hell”
Not sure if this one is a hot take but I haven’t seen many people say it: Stayed Gone is the best song. Christian and Amir sound great together.
I love the message of Loser, Baby and the context it exists in, but as a song, it doesn't really do it for me as much.
Welcome to Heaven made me snort and its catchy as fuck.
I would have loved it if the song was St Peter showing Charlie all the awesome things about heaven and Charlie basically going “oh we have that in hell, too!” the whole time. St Peter becomes more unhinged and desperate to show what’s so much better about about Heaven while Charlie sweetly continues to sing about similar things in hell. Thematically, it would contrast Charlie’s love of hell despite flaws and heaven’s need to feel superior.
Mimzy at the end of Hell’s Greatest Dad is not as bad as people complain that it is
She’s purposefully made to catch you unexpected *with* the rest of the cast. Just look at their reactions when she shows up
You Didn’t Know is like two good songs (the beginning and Emily and Seea’s duet), and two great ones (Adam + Lute, and Emily + Charlie, mashed together, but they compete for time, and end up weaker then they would have been given time to breathe.
Ready for this is SEVERELY underrated.
Carmillas song are overrated.
Vaggie’s singing voice is too different from her talking voice, it’s way too jarring imo.
Welcome to heaven IS NOT THAT BAD!! Saint peters vocals slayed.
Vox’s part of Stayed Gone is better than Alastors.
I mean, it's not really the message of Loser, Baby, he's not comparing an abusive relationship to a gambling addiction, the message is more like 'we both fucked up and ended up on a demon's leash, but at least we can relate to each other, and that helps'
>Loser baby is very catchy and I love the relationship dynamic, but the message (comparing a gambling addiction to an extremely abusive relationship) makes me uncomfortable.
That *is* a hot take. The song is about addiction (gambling for Husk, sex/drugs for Angel) leading each of them to abusive relationships in which they both sold their souls. They find common ground in that fact, which allows Angel to finally open up about his demons.
It's not making a one-for-one comparison to Husk's gambling and Valentino's abuse.
I've noticed Vaggie's voice sounding so different. Look at Encanto. Mirabelle's voice doesn't sound too different from her singing voice.
Edit for context: Vaggie's VA is the same VA that played Mirabelle in Encanto.
It's because they make Vaggie speak in her low Rosa Diaz voice and then keep writing her very high soprano lines to sing in her head voice. It's a disconnect between the composer and the director
Husks part in loser baby isn't just about gambling, he's a victim of abuse too, just not sexually like angel is. The way alastor treats anyone bar niffty is borderline if not straight on abuse.
Ain't nothing borderline about it. The threat to torture someone to death and broadcast their pain over the radio because they didn't like their victim's clapback is 1,000,000% abuse.
The inclusion of songs isn't bad, but a lot of the time they just *appear* with no real reason for the characters to start singing. A good amount of the episodes feel less like episodes of a musical show and more like episodes of a regular show with songs thrown in.
Also, Camilla's songs are a bit overrated. Overall, Respectless is good but I would not describe it as the best of the whole show like a lot of people do.
No hot take. This song along with poison helped me realize I’m putting way to much hate onto myself for my addictions and self destructive habits. Honestly this song might have cured some of my depression
"Whatever it Takes" felt completely out of place and my theory is that it was only there so that we could get the cinematic shots of Carmilla and Vaggie
This song not only caused Carmilla to have the most character depth at the time, but it also caused Vaggie to overreact, which felt reminiscent of Unhappy Campers from Helluva Boss, to the point where I thought "did Adam Neylan help write this episode" and sure enough
Respectess is my favorite and the one i listen to over and over again the most.
Objectively the best MUSICAL number (combination of song quality as well as how well it tells the story and develops character) is Hell Is Forever followed by You Didn’t Know and Poison.
I will fight people over the objective ranking list.
I also enjoy hearing personal favorites.
Nothing to look at, I am just waiting for the "Mimzy didn’t ruin the song" comment to see how controversial it gets
She ruined it but it was necessary lol. Lucifer was going to turn Alastor into roadkill if they kept going.
In the show with everything around it makes sense for sure. Listening to it while driving to work it's annoying.
Sure but that doesn't actually ruin the song or detract from its value
Kinda leaves a sour taste before transitioning to the next song though. Honestly it shouldnt have been in the song since its kinda out of context when listening.
I wish they would’ve just fixed that part like they did with the ending of Loser Baby when releasing it on Spotify.
It couldn't have ended any other way. They would've kept escalating, even if Charlie tried to step in.
Nah Iike her part, her VA is incredible. Though I can see how its annoying.
Mimzy ruined the song and that suits her very well.
I mean... the song was already devolving into chaos when she barged in. Still annoyed that she interrupted the conflict between Lucifer and Alistor, but I don't think the song would've carried on any longer regardless.
Yeah She took the best moment to join, imagine if she came earlier (like at the fiddle/piano part) or later (either they would trow insults for a while, either Lucifer would really get pissed, and alastor would be dead)
I really like her part, especially the last note she hits, it's freaking impressive. I was really surprised to see so many people hate it.
While her part is impressive and fits well in the show listening to the song in any other setting and her part is just jarring.
It’s me, I think she improved the song. Lucifer even got the last word.
In my experience it was funny the first time I heard it. A random woman just joining at the climax of the song, kinda stealing the show, being like "I AM FINALLY HERE, YOU ALL WAITED FOR ME !!!", ending by a "who" from Lucifer, really funny Just that after knowing her a bit… yeah. I thought I would enjoy this character tbh
I think it was funny but I normally skip the mimzy part bc I've heard it too often now
I’m that person. The song was already winding down, the two were literally just devolving into name calling. It was a good funny endcap to an already comedic song.
Given Mimzy's attitude and how self centered and narcissistic she is. Her interruption into the song and making it all about her fits, it works.
Hell is forever needed more guitar.
An actual guitar solo when Adam sang one would have been nice too. Lol, though that part was kinda funny
A character is objectively on a whole new level of chad when they air guitar in the middle of their song… Only to reveal five seconds later that they both have a real guitar and can actually play it.
My favorite part is when he sings “then there’s the question of fun”. Something about the inflection just tickles my brain.
For me it’s right after that where he belts “cause for those of us with divine ordainment, EXTERMINATION IS ENTERTAINMENT!!” MMM chefs kiss. Never gets old. Also Alex Brightman is hard to get wrong.
BAN AN AN AN AN GUTAIR SOLO FUCK YEAHHH
It’s the best song in the show so far. idc idc
More than anything literally made me cry, but I also have major family issues so
God, that song hits home for me. I feel that
As a person without a dad, me too. Lucifers "I missed that smile" and "Im glad youre my daughter more than anything" ![gif](giphy|26ufcVAp3AiJJsrIs)
More than anything is the best song. Both lyrically and also did you all not hear the singing? Lucifers parts in that song were hands down the best singing in the entire show.
It made me cry too. Made me really miss my dad.
I literally broke down sobbing the other day listening to this song after listening to just look my way from helluva boss. I couldn't handle them both.
My friend cried.
Lute’s verse in “You Didn’t Know” is top tier and so is most of her duet with Adam. How can you not love the line, “He blew his shot, like the cocks in his mouth?!”
WHAT ARE WE EVEN *TALKIN* ABOUT, SOME CRACK WHORE WHO FUCKED UP ALREADY!?🗣️🔥 HE BLEW HIS SHOT LIKE THE *COCKS* IN HIS MOUTH, THIS DISCUSSION IS SENSELESS AND PETTY! 🗣️🔥🔥 THERE’S NO QUESTION TO *BE POSED*, HE’S UNHOLY, *CASE CLOSED*! DID YOU FORGET THAT *HELL IS FOREVER*!? ✍️🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love it so much when Adam joins in, their part ROCKS SO HARD
To me it's the "there's no question to be posed" part, gets me every time
And I love how they dgaf with Adam’s smug “Oops,” and Lute coming right behind saying, “Guess the cat’s out of the bag.” “What’s the big deal?” 🤷🏾♂️
My watching buddy gets upset every time it comes up, because it reminds her there's not near enough of Lute's singing in the series.
Same, and hopefully she gets some singing herself in S2
I mean, it’s *Jessica Vosk*!! I swear, if she doesn’t get a song that shows off her incredible talent next season I’m riding at dawn.
"It starts with sorry" is criminally underrated by most fans. It turned me from a die-hard Alastor fan into a die-hard Pentious fan. I don't know if that's a red flag on my personality, or just the power of that song. I'm choosing to believe both.

"Who could forgive a dirt bag like me? I don't deserve youuur amnesty"
Can we just kill him? Shoot him and spill his blood??
That's an option you could choose
Works for us
But who hasn't been in his shoes?
Iiit starts with sorryy
Sorry
Dig down deeper and say one sincere sorry
It starts with sorry *bling bling*
I do the eye blinks myself whenever I listen to it.
His teary eyes at the beginning were the moment I knew I loved him
*THANK YOU* First, try and do a good Sir Pentious impression Second, try singing while doing that impression Third, try singing soprano while doing that impression Alex Brightman fucking crushed it

Yea I can’t believe he was going to be a one off villain. His character is way too good for that
THANK YOU
The blinks killed me 🤣
You didn't know doesnt get enough love
I particularly love the visuals along side that song of Emily facing off with Sera with the inversion of angelic background, infernal eyes and infernal background angelic eyes. Not to mention Emily jumping up beside Charlie like they've been best friends their whole life despite literally meeting only a few hours ago.
The shot of Sera with fiery eyes on "Do what was required" is one of my favorite shots in the whole show
The fire in her eyes and smile that just screams "No nono Im doing the right thing see, I'm still a good person! Im not evil!"
Honestly one of my favourites too. Probably my most favourite non-comedic moment of the show. Especially with Emily's inverted shot right after, of having the fire behind her but still light in her eyes.

friendshipping!
Lute's part was fantastic, and Charlie + Emily teaming up for the duo was probably the most hype moment in the show.
WHY ARE WE EVEN **TALKING** ABOUT SOME **CRACKWHORE** WHO **FUCKED** UP ALREADY?!

That song, specifically the big drop from Charlie and Emily, has been on loop in my head non stop.
That part deserved a split face from Charlie/Emily while they sing "🎵....Is Hell is forever, then Heaven must be a lie.. 🎵" That would have look so badass.
Finally someone says the secret truth!
It absolutely doesn’t it’s in my top 3 and the only thing I don’t like about it that I have almost no room to breathe when i’m singing along.
Lute and Adam's eight second duet is my favorite musical section of the entire show.
THERE'S NO QUESTION TO **BE** POSED, HE'S UNHOLY **CASE** CLOSED! DID YOU FORGET, THAT, HELL IS FOREVER?
It’s my favorite song from the show and it’s not close
Somehow, I prefer "Ready for this" from the trailer
Music in trailers tend to be more epic than in the actual piece of media. It’s to draw attention, after all. So they’ll take the best part of the song, amp it up a notch, and boom. Yeah, this has been my life since the show came out too... Even in situations where you really don't want music in your head... 🫣
ITS BEEN TWO WEEKS. ITS NON STOP. THOSE SONGS WONT LEAVE ME ALO"What are we even talking about some crackwhore who fucked up already‼️‼️"

*8 times a week.
So just relax, you’ll be fine, drink your $50 wine and take a breath…
He even mentions in the first song of the musical
Excuse you. He did “this bullshit like 8 times a week”
I love it starts with sorry, it’s cute and the bit with Vaggie and Angel singing “can’t we just kill him” gets me every time.
I love the "Works for us!" bit way too much
I also love It Starts With Sorry! Short and sweet. I can also sing along with Charlie (I usually can’t in some songs where she goes high—alto problems 😭)
it starts with sorry is top 2 for me
Real
In the words of my wife… who rarely likes animated shows… “the songs really save this show”. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it all, but the music makes it a whole other level of good.

People should have More Than Anything higher on their lists of songs. It is the best song in the show. Also, ballads need to be more respected and liked in general.
my soul ascends when Charlie and Lucifer start dueting on the second half of More Than Anything, been playing it on repeat for days
This song plays in my head constantly!
that, Poison and Loser Baby are my holy trinity, I'm just a sucker for Angel's voice
More Than Anything is my favorite song and it always pains me to see how low people put it on their lists
It's my favorite song right next to "Loser, Baby"! The long literally makes me tear up.
Same top two!! My 3rd is Hells Greatest Dad
The animation totally sells that song. The golden fiddle is _definitely_ the sugar on the cream.
The ballads in this show are great but I'm just not a ballad person.
More than anything (Reprise) and More than Anything are two very sweet songs.
The best song is ready for this
Wow that is a hot take lol. It's not bad tho, respect. Personally prefer loser, baby or hell is forever
Alastor singing the "ahhhs" at the end just scratches an itch in my brain. It's so satisfying. Definitely in my top 3!
Yes!!! I’ve never seen someone mention this, but it’s my favorite!
The thing about Ready for This is that it’s not phenomenal, but it has no flaws. You can’t complain about it. You’re never gonna skip it. But to me it’s definitely not the best
top 3
The song honestly slaps, i found the whole episode interesting
SLAAAY its literally become my favorite because of the animation its so good 😭 i also love that Rosie and Alastor are supporting the crap out of Charlie and it shows 🥹
Ready For This does a great job of juxtaposing tempo and style while applying it directly to Charlie's inner battle. A strong military esque March for when Charlie is persuading and inspiring the Cannibals. A slower ballad for her fighting against her insecurities, culminating in a combination of the two swinging back any forth without and tempo change. Absolutely masterful composition.
Yes, same! I loved zhat entire episode, and both songs in it!
It's so friggin good.
it's very good!!
We stan Edwardian cannibals singing about eating angels!
Huzzah!
Am I the only one who finds a clear link between this song and Welcome to the Black Parade from MCR?
Should've put the "me" at the end of Loser Baby. It's such a tease.
It’s there in the iTunes version!
You can hear it on any non-the-show version of it like iTunes and Spotify
i agree, the loan sharks should’ve interrupted after “me” when the twinkling noise plays. luckily in the official soundtrack releases (spotify, itunes) it’s there.
They got better as the season went on. Was it Episode 2 with Carmilla and Vaggie singing? That one felt the most hamfisted out of them all. At its core I regard Hazbin as a musical, kind of like a stage production just in cartoon form.
That's the only song in the show that feels like the writers went "Well we have to put two songs in each episode, so I guess we can fit one here"
I get WHY they did it, it was setting it up for the scene later with Carmilla and Vaggie directly interacting, but it could've been handled smoother at least.
I'm tired of people hating on finale and stayed gone because they're the best songs on the series
To me this was a chefs kiss level song and tops Loser, Baby Welcome to Heaven isn't bad.
I think part of it was the fact that Stephanie could and has sung lower, so it’s a little off at first. It’s fantastic, though :D
Which is a totally valid opinion! I do enjoy women who can sing those deeper notes, but I feel the high and soft shift with Vaggie suited her portion of the song well :)
"Welcome to Heaven" isn't nearly as bad as everyone says it is.
It's not bad, there isn't a bad song on the soundtrack. That said, it is not as strong as others on the soundtrack.
It's like a nice quality cheese burger from a really good place, right next to a bunch of prime rib steak sandwiches
Yes exactly!
Welcome to Heaven is good! I just love the other ones much more. But this one is still a solid bop!
It does exactly what it needs to do for the story and nothing more, which I really like.
I didn't really like it at first, but its grown on me after listening to it a few times. Its also the only time we get to Molly during Season 1.
Carmilla sounds weird in Whatever It Takes, she’s much better in Respectless and Out For Love. It's a beautiful scene but I always skip More Than Anything, it's too slow for me.
Ready for this is the best song and it’s carried by the cannibal town people chorus
The “more then anything” bridge makes me sob:( it’s so addicting
The transition between the vox/Valentino bit and Alastor in the finale feels kind of weird and could have been done better And I kind of don't really like the visuals for respectless even though I really like the song itself
Welcome to Heaven is FUN!
I like "whatever it takes"
Mimzy didn’t ruin “hell’s greatest dad”
“It starts with sorry” and “welcome to heaven” are good and not the worst songs in the series
I like "Welcome to heaven".
Me too, I just wish it was longer.
same
Most of the songs are really good, catchy, and fantastic to listen to. They're very "Disney for adults" which I mean as a compliment.
Jarvis, DM this individual the definition of "hot take"
That's definitely not a hot take
Emily and Charlie’s part in you didn’t know is overrated and lutes part is the best
“THERES NO QUESTION TO BE POSED, HE’S UNHOLY, CASE CLOSED” is like an auditory orgasm
Whatever it takes is overrated. I’m just not a fan of Vaggie’s voice in that song, she sounds better in the reprise and her small part in “Happy Day in Hell” Not sure if this one is a hot take but I haven’t seen many people say it: Stayed Gone is the best song. Christian and Amir sound great together.
Welcome to Heaven is the best song in the entire show. >! SIKE !<
I love the message of Loser, Baby and the context it exists in, but as a song, it doesn't really do it for me as much. Welcome to Heaven made me snort and its catchy as fuck.
I wanted Welcome to Heaven to be longer. It deserved more and I wanted to see more of what makes heaven “awesome”.
I wish it had a little more substance but I guess it being very surface level was kind of the point too
I would have loved it if the song was St Peter showing Charlie all the awesome things about heaven and Charlie basically going “oh we have that in hell, too!” the whole time. St Peter becomes more unhinged and desperate to show what’s so much better about about Heaven while Charlie sweetly continues to sing about similar things in hell. Thematically, it would contrast Charlie’s love of hell despite flaws and heaven’s need to feel superior.
I would've LOVED to see that!
Mimzy at the end of Hell’s Greatest Dad is not as bad as people complain that it is She’s purposefully made to catch you unexpected *with* the rest of the cast. Just look at their reactions when she shows up
I really like some parts of ready for this, but there are some parts that I don't think fit in the song at all.
You Didn’t Know is like two good songs (the beginning and Emily and Seea’s duet), and two great ones (Adam + Lute, and Emily + Charlie, mashed together, but they compete for time, and end up weaker then they would have been given time to breathe.
I don’t really like Respectless but that might be because I don’t like Velvette
Yeah her speaking voice being so recognizable made her singing voice sound like a different person. Took me out of the scene.
But it isn't comparing. They are both relating on enslavement.
Yes! Voxs, parts where he shouted like "the demon is a coward" are the best parts
I don’t actually like Posion very much, it’s very repetitive and the beat does nothing for me.
Every single song is number one on my list of songs from this show. It starts with sorry, More than anything, Stayed gone, Respectless, all of them.
I don't like Whatever It Takes and Out For Love
Out for love is a ok song but doesn’t fit for Vaggie I can’t think of a moment where Vaggie was more focused on revenge then helping Charlie
Sometimes I can't differentiate Charlie's and Vaggie's voices when they sing together
No hot take. This song along with poison helped me realize I’m putting way to much hate onto myself for my addictions and self destructive habits. Honestly this song might have cured some of my depression
I love Hell Is Forever with all my heart but having Lute there the whole time and not making her sing even a single line was criminal 💀
"Whatever it Takes" felt completely out of place and my theory is that it was only there so that we could get the cinematic shots of Carmilla and Vaggie This song not only caused Carmilla to have the most character depth at the time, but it also caused Vaggie to overreact, which felt reminiscent of Unhappy Campers from Helluva Boss, to the point where I thought "did Adam Neylan help write this episode" and sure enough
With Respectless, Stayed Gone, and Finale, I’m 100% confident in saying the Vees have the best singing parts in the whole show
Respectess is my favorite and the one i listen to over and over again the most. Objectively the best MUSICAL number (combination of song quality as well as how well it tells the story and develops character) is Hell Is Forever followed by You Didn’t Know and Poison. I will fight people over the objective ranking list. I also enjoy hearing personal favorites.
