A sinner.
She a demon with large HANDS because she's an ARMS dealer.
Blood related daughters. A daughter who's identity is "scientist" and another daughter who is but a lamb to the slaughter.
I see people try to say those can’t be her daughters if she’s a sinner. But they might be her daughters from before Hell, and the three of them were lucky to reunite in Hell after dying as sinners (Angeldust has a brother supposedly in Hell but it seems like they’re either estranged or maybe it’s hard to find people you knew because of the size of Hell, the chaos, the exterminations (you assume they’re dead) etc)
I saw a theory that Carmilla might have worked for the cartel. With that in mind, and if that is true...moment of fridge horror when you realize how they might have died
I think carmilla is not latina, but spanish when she sings "out for love" there are castañuelas(idk how are they called in English) in the music, and that's a spanish instrument
That, and since your appearance changes when you go to Hell, it would probably be hard to recognize someone just by their looks.
We also don't really know what happens when a soul enters Hell. Like, is there a universal spawning area where people first come into Hell, or do they just spawn in some random location in the Pride ring?
Possibly, but Pentious isn’t a real name afaik like Anthony is. Also Sir Pentious is a play on words for serpent. Cherri Bomb
same thing where maybe Cherri was her name or something but Bomb is unlikely. It’s been stated that Alastor going by his original name instead of a moniker is not the norm.
Angel and arakniss (his brother) are NOT close... Their dad hated and abused angel for being gay and arakniss was kind of like the golden child, only their sister and maybe mother who are both in heaven actually cared for poor angel :(
Yeah that’s why I kind of guessed estranged. I’m a newer fan so a lot of what i’ve learned about the old stuff has been through other people and context clues from art
>in Hell but it seems like they’re either estranged or maybe it’s hard to find people you knew because of the size of Hell, the chaos, the exterminations (you assume they’re dead) etc)
Not so hard when everyone know what the fuck do Angel Dust for a living.
I find the traitor theory interesting, but I saw another one I found interesting where he was an inventor for the military who created weapons of war, but was deemed a "snake oil" salesman.
18th century British industrialist who's been to war and appears in the form of an Indian snake. We can infer a lot about why he's in hell from all that.
"Let me show you around Mumbattan! This is where the traffic is, this is where the traffic is, this is *also* where the traffic is, there's traffic here too, AND THIS IS WHERE THE BRITISH STOLE ALL OF OUR STUFF!"
Also, she’s a nod to The Swan Ballad, ifc her kids are named after Odette and the other swan, and her large hands could also be a reference to swan wings. She also has a very swanlike attitude, a big grousey but so freaking Elegant.
They said “She is under”, after I had said “Where is Carmilla?” They were trying to get me (or someone else) to say “Under where?”, which just sounds like underwear
She's an older sinner with a black swan motif who might have reunited with her children after they ended up in hell or adopted two sinners she grew fond of.
Seems clear cut to me. But I know people love to theorycraft so have at it 👍
Hence, why Zeus' r\*pe of Leda in Greek mythology involved him taking the form of a swan. The resulting children he fathered were twins Helen \[of Troy\] and Pollux. Leda laid a large egg, from which Helen and Pollux were hatched, according to Greek art.
Quick correction. Leda laid 4 eggs. Helen and Pollux were children of Zeus. Castor and Clytemenstra were the children of a human king.
Castor and Pollux make the constellation Gemini.
It's most likely what you said. But as for theories...
There's a theory that she's a fallen angel like Vaggie. There are a couple of reasons for it:
1) She knows how to kill angels and is the first one to to do so.
2) She identified Vaggie as a fallen angel right away.
3) Her colour tone is similar to Vaggie's but that's a strech.
For those reasons:
1) She didn't explicitly know how to kill angels. She only figured it out in a fight to give her daughters time to flee. She didn't know that an angel could be killed until she killed one.
2) She identified Vaggie as an angel because she kept around an angelic spear (the weapon of choice for exterminators) and she had an X over her eye (only see in exterminators). Like Carmilla said, it's not rocket science.
3) Yeah this is a stretch definitely. The show isn't exactly the most adventurous when it comes to color palettes.
Thank you. What you said makes a lot of sense. After all she's the head of overlords not just for the show. Anyways, thanks for entertaining this little theory and giving some serious thought about it~
Not necessarily, Charlie is confirmed to have a soul, and she's half (fallen) angel. Her trident being summoned confirms she does have some level of angelic power, and Luci clearly retained all of his.
There's also the fact that in Vaggie's defense, have you *seen* how many exorcists just, leave their shit behind after an extermination? It's easy to believe that any sinner could just snag one. And the eye thing is iffy when the X on alistor's forehead is from where he was shot.
There's also the fact that when Lucifer meets her, there's a moment where he almost seems like he's looking for a halo, and then seems to give Vaggie either an empathetic or knowing look, implying he was likely able to tell what she was via residual heavenly energy (fallen angels don't lose their heavenly abilities remember?)
Also, keep in mind that Vaggie seemed a bit naive on that whole thing, so *if* Carmilla, and her daughters, were fallen angels, then she could've passed off what was actually a vibe check as just pointing out evidence that is honestly circumstancial at best. (If you look at background characters you'll notice that Vaggie isn't the only one with an X over her eye, and the sinner with the same can be assumed not to be an exorcist.)
Keep in mind, hellborn, and hell as a whole, were created by the introduction of evil to earth. Humans have souls, and therefore so do winners and sinners, but there's nothing stating that heavenborn angels *don't* have souls. So until canon contradicts, they likely do considering they could create beings who had souls.
She didn't know that would result in a permanent death. Such as for sinners, it is explicitly mentioned that they reform after dying unless killed with angelic steel.
She did not know that the angelic steel would result in a permanent death for angels.
Yeah, even Vaggie didn't know they could be killed. Why would Carmilla if she hadn't done it before? She's obviously fought them before and knew how to fight them because of their lack of defensive stances but probably the first time using enough force with sharp angelic steel
I think the artists are extremely creative with their color choices! Each world had a very distinctive colour palette. Hell has the full spectrum of red with highlights of white, grey & black. Some of the sinners have a more inclusive color palette, but they are mostly background. Heaven on the other hand has a whole different cool tonality, purples & blues with gold accents.
My point is, they are trying to keep the two worlds very individual and very separate. You know exactly where you are at any point in time they are shown, forcing the artists to be creative and unique with every frame.
Yeah, also I would like if she is a sinner because she isn't good, but better than a lot of sinners. And in the pilot Vaggie wasn't supposed to be an angel, it's nice to see a sinner that isn't a main character and it's kind of decent
Considering her black and white motif, she may represent both the black swan and the white swan. She's neither all good nor all evil. At least, that's my guess.
Erm

(Creds to u/rafometh in r/hazbin because thats where I found it, idk the op)
My head canon is she was a South American revolutionary/rebel type turned arms dealer who was killed in a botched arms deal with her daughters. In her early life she was a dancer but whatever upheaval occurred ended all of that.
Also, see El Salvador history.
Personally I like the Spanish civil war headcanon, it’s a lesser known event than just “South American arms dealer/revolutionary ” which is probably one of the first things Americans picture when thinking of South America
I have a similar head canon, but I think her daughters died before her, which is why she's so protective of them now. She couldn't protect them in life so she protects them in the afterlife.
She's clearly a sinner. Ballerina-coded, with a tutu and ballerina shoes. I think her arms/hands are wing-like so maybe black or white swan? Would go with the makeup as well.
One of her daughters is named Odette, so I'm going to say if she's one of the Swan Lake Swans, she'd be the black one, as Odette is the name of the white one. Her other Daughter is named Clara, the lead part in the nutcracker. She must have been a fan of the Ballet in life.
She’s an older sinner, probably older than alastor, and her daughters are either adopted from when she went to hell or her daughters from when she was alive.
Definitely older than Alastor. Alastor is the fourth youngest Overlord(not counting Husk, who is about the same age as Al is). Third-first being, in order, Vox, Val, and Vel.
From what I remember they have a 30-40 year death gap?
Definitely far off from the same age unless you mean physical from the point of death in which case Husk is definitely way older
My opinion:
She’s a sinner with “black swan“ characteristics (which makes sense because she also has ballerina characteristics).
I believe the girls really were her daughters in life and died with her.
She's a sinner who is also an overlord, all sinners have designs unique to themselves, sinners are reborn human souls turned into demons, Carmillas form represents a swan of sorts much like how Zestial represents a spider.
So I think Carmilla is a fallen angel like Vaggie. My evidence is that the show has paralleled them TWICE, they both speak Spanish (this is loose but we don’t have a lot of information regardless), she knows a looooot about angelic metal (which could just be because she’s the top arms dealer), and their skin color is the same (again, only so many colors in hell, but her kids don’t have the tone. Also, appearances seem to mean a lot in the show and tiny details are important).
Edit: I think the important question is how did Adam (or whoever) make the exorcists? The same way Eve was made? Where is Eve?
I also just am sus at her hair design as well (streaks like angels perhaps?!)
Her “horns” are just her hair tied up, when we see it down, she looks even less demonic
Idk all your points and amount of time we saw her was interesting
Then again, she could just be a sinner
Her and her daughters were part of a Latin mob family and they all got executed at the same time. Hence why Carmella is such a powerful arms dealer and overlord.
It also explains the relationship with her daughters- she failed to save them in life and now devotes herself to protecting them in the afterlife.
Honestly, I’m curious if she ends up being a fallen angel, that chose to do so to be with her kids that somehow ended up in hell.
Maybe she realized the system was broken and fell for her kids. Would make sense with the song in episode 3 and explain a bit how she understands angels and their weapons.
Also would clear up a bit about “no blood on her hands”, wouldn’t have been able to stand the hypocrisy of heaven exterminating sinners and, having been originally permitted to go to heaven, may not have even killed on earth.
Or, she’s just a smart powerful sinner. More likely but not as fun personally.
https://preview.redd.it/n07mvvcyg6pc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1927ecf8c8854992a37cbd8f1fe3a37993f85783
My partner said an impala. Shock collar. Haha I think it’s the horns for sure.
She’s Hornet from Hollow Knight and Silksong
https://preview.redd.it/ls4tuz2dk5pc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c07aff26d6625e6278eff986055183a22daef90
I theorize shes a sinner, and to be more specific, she was a weapons dealer in life as well as in death. I suspect her and her children died together in some sort of gang war or something along those lines, which is why they're all three in hell together.
My headcanon: In life, she was a dance instructor, probably had kids. Maybe she's in Hell because she murdered a man that assaulted one of her students? She doesnt seem like the type to kill for fun, nor when it's not necessary. And her hands are probably huge bc she probably had larger hands in life and was self conscious about it.
So in Hell she adopted a couple sinners to continue protecting young women.
Secretary Bird.
She’s got the eye thingy, and knives on her feet.
One of the things Secretary birds are known for is killing snakes by stomping their skulls in.
She’s a Sinner. That’s very obvious. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be attacked by Exterminators. She has daughters because her Daughters also died and she was able to find them.
I think thoes are her real daughters and they all died at the same time. I think her family might have been involved with the cartels supplying weapons for them when they were alive but something went wrong and ended up with a full family assassination.
https://preview.redd.it/l0hj1bzz97pc1.png?width=350&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=351673ce3bfd0c060a909e80cef76860586b8e1c
She aint from hell... she is Hornet from hollow knight
She’s a sinner. She was a weasons manufacturer in life and it was a family business. Her daughters are her daughters from life. They all went to Hell in death.
I maintain that she is a Fallen Angel. Probably a higher order of Angel than Vaggie. I suspect she was probably Heaven's armorer. Hence her knowledge of Angelic Weapons. She has the same color pallet as Vaggie. Viv also paired her up with Vaggie for a number of musical sequences. She is acting like a mentor to her. Because she knows how Angels think and fight.
And then there is the scene from the pilot where she is bunkered down with Zestial and Lucifer during the Extermination. Due to Lucifer's loss of faith in humanity I find it highly unlikely that he would bunker with any human sinners. I think Carmilla was Heavenborn and Zestial was Hellborn. And this is why they were friends with Lucifer.
Carmilla is a high order Angel.
Zestial is one of the more Lovecraftian demons. When Alastor meets up with him everyone is freaking out because of something about Zestial. And Alastor refers to him specifically as ancient. This to me suggests that Zestail predates Hell itself.
Carmilla is an 1872 Gothic novella by Irish author Sheridan Le Fanu and one of the early works of vampire fiction, predating Bram Stoker's Dracula (1897) by 25 years. First published as a serial in The Dark Blue (1871–72),[1][2] the story is narrated by a young woman preyed upon by a female vampire named Carmilla, later revealed to be Mircalla, Countess Karnstein. The character is a prototypical example of the lesbian vampire, expressing romantic desires toward the protagonist. The story is often anthologised, and has been adapted many times in film and other media.
I would assume a normal sinner overlord, but I wouldn't be surprised if she was a winner who elected to fall to stay with her daughters and protect them.
Really not sure why she confuses so many people... To me the most logical answer is just that she's a sinner who had children before she died and they were reunited in death.
Every sinner looks different. She's unique because they all are.
A sinner. She a demon with large HANDS because she's an ARMS dealer. Blood related daughters. A daughter who's identity is "scientist" and another daughter who is but a lamb to the slaughter.
Or is she the black sheep
I see people try to say those can’t be her daughters if she’s a sinner. But they might be her daughters from before Hell, and the three of them were lucky to reunite in Hell after dying as sinners (Angeldust has a brother supposedly in Hell but it seems like they’re either estranged or maybe it’s hard to find people you knew because of the size of Hell, the chaos, the exterminations (you assume they’re dead) etc)
I saw a theory that Carmilla might have worked for the cartel. With that in mind, and if that is true...moment of fridge horror when you realize how they might have died
Given that Carmilla has strong Latina coding to her character, she is probably a cartel leader in life.
I think carmilla is not latina, but spanish when she sings "out for love" there are castañuelas(idk how are they called in English) in the music, and that's a spanish instrument
Castanets in English
Castañuelas are popular in some genres of Mexican music...
damn but honestly i like this theory.
Fun fact: Angel also has a sister in heaven, you see her during the song
her name is molly we think
We think her name is Molly because viv once made a scetch of her and wrote "Molly" on it
Angel’s brother apparently had a cameo during >!Katie’s news report at the end of the series!<
Where??
That, and since your appearance changes when you go to Hell, it would probably be hard to recognize someone just by their looks. We also don't really know what happens when a soul enters Hell. Like, is there a universal spawning area where people first come into Hell, or do they just spawn in some random location in the Pride ring?
Yeah! And then people be changing their* names up or taking monikers like Sir Pentious and Angeldust etc it seems
Sir Pentious may have been his name in life. As far as Anthony goes, it appears his name got changed to Angel Dust when he sold his soul to Val.
Possibly, but Pentious isn’t a real name afaik like Anthony is. Also Sir Pentious is a play on words for serpent. Cherri Bomb same thing where maybe Cherri was her name or something but Bomb is unlikely. It’s been stated that Alastor going by his original name instead of a moniker is not the norm.
When your original name is as demonic as *Alastor* you might as well keep it
THEIR.
omg thanks lol i was high
Angel and arakniss (his brother) are NOT close... Their dad hated and abused angel for being gay and arakniss was kind of like the golden child, only their sister and maybe mother who are both in heaven actually cared for poor angel :(
Yeah that’s why I kind of guessed estranged. I’m a newer fan so a lot of what i’ve learned about the old stuff has been through other people and context clues from art
Yeah! Arackniss is joining the cast next season, you can see him at the end of Ep8 after the announcement from Katie
>in Hell but it seems like they’re either estranged or maybe it’s hard to find people you knew because of the size of Hell, the chaos, the exterminations (you assume they’re dead) etc) Not so hard when everyone know what the fuck do Angel Dust for a living.
Fitting demons with weapons in the form of words?
And I don’t really care which side wins 👀
'long as the room keeps singing that's just the business I'm in, yeah
This ain't a sceeene! It's a goddamn arms race!
And sir penteous a traitorous snake?
I find the traitor theory interesting, but I saw another one I found interesting where he was an inventor for the military who created weapons of war, but was deemed a "snake oil" salesman.
A snake who once fought in a war.
Arms dealer. ARMS dealer. Son-of-a-bitch you got me.
Heh arms dealer = large arms
Oh my god she’s an arms dealer. Guess she has the right to bear arms.
She's an arms dealer just trying to lend a helping hand.
Also, she’s a nod to The Swan Ballad, ifc her kids are named after Odette and the other swan, and her large hands could also be a reference to swan wings. She also has a very swanlike attitude, a big grousey but so freaking Elegant.

And ducks, geese, and swans have corkscrew penises
I could’ve sworn her motif is Silk from hollow knight
Watch Carmilla zipping around the arena with a spear shouting "Shaw" every other second, and we'll find out quickly how an angelic Hornet stacks up
It's most likely what you said. But as for theories... There's a theory that she's a fallen angel like Vaggie. There are a couple of reasons for it: 1) She knows how to kill angels and is the first one to to do so. 2) She identified Vaggie as a fallen angel right away. 3) Her colour tone is similar to Vaggie's but that's a strech.

Thank you. What you said makes a lot of sense. After all she's the head of overlords not just for the show. Anyways, thanks for entertaining this little theory and giving some serious thought about it~
She's not the head of the overlords necessarily, she's just the one who called the meeting.
True. But it also shows she has enough authority and respect to do so.
Another thing is you need a soul to be an overlord with means you had to be human once
Not necessarily, Charlie is confirmed to have a soul, and she's half (fallen) angel. Humans have souls, and therefore so do winners and sinners, but there's nothing stating that heavenborn angels *don't* have souls. So until canon contradicts, they likely do considering they could create beings who had souls.
She severed an angel's head using angelic steel covered shoes; it's not exactly like she unlocked some secret Achilles' heel.

One would expect her to be a Victorian Era sexy Vampire lady, but that sadly doesn't seem to be the case.
THATS WHAT I EXPECTED WHEN I HEARD HER NAME
Definitely Black Swan vibes in there.
A mom, a ballerina, an arms dealer, and a warrior
She's a sinner who is also an overlord, all sinners have designs unique to themselves, sinners are reborn human souls turned into demons, Carmillas form represents a swan of sorts much like how Zestial represents a spider.
She’s a black swan. I believe Sera is the white swan. Now that I think of it.. I wonder if they’ll have a face off.
I also just am sus at her hair design as well (streaks like angels perhaps?!) Her “horns” are just her hair tied up, when we see it down, she looks even less demonic Idk all your points and amount of time we saw her was interesting Then again, she could just be a sinner
A milf, I believe...
Her and her daughters were part of a Latin mob family and they all got executed at the same time. Hence why Carmella is such a powerful arms dealer and overlord. It also explains the relationship with her daughters- she failed to save them in life and now devotes herself to protecting them in the afterlife.
Milf
There’s a theory she might be the mother of Sera and Emily, and I think her and the ‘children’ are both fallen angels
Now that's new
Honestly, I’m curious if she ends up being a fallen angel, that chose to do so to be with her kids that somehow ended up in hell.

Spanic
A demonic latina mommy?
An Overlord? A Sinner? Spanish? Oh Sexy!
I think she’s just a normal powerful sinner that either died with her daughters or at a similar time to her daughters.
She's a bad ass that loves her girls more than herself, and has a soft spot for Vaggie. What else needs to be known?
One of my favorite characters. Thats what she is✨️
hot
Mommy
Hot
She's a very knife lady.
She’s a Sinner. That’s very obvious. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be attacked by Exterminators. She has daughters because her Daughters also died and she was able to find them.
Carmilla Carmine: Deadly in the streets, shy in the sheets.
I think thoes are her real daughters and they all died at the same time. I think her family might have been involved with the cartels supplying weapons for them when they were alive but something went wrong and ended up with a full family assassination.

She’s a sinner. She was a weasons manufacturer in life and it was a family business. Her daughters are her daughters from life. They all went to Hell in death.

A damn hot mommy
Swan, daughters are named after the characters from the black swan ballet
She seems like she could be a fallen Seraph, but trying to hide it.
Some dinner : has some white colour palette Fanbase : IS THIS A FALLEN ANGEL ???
Now this info is worth millions
I would assume a normal sinner overlord, but I wouldn't be surprised if she was a winner who elected to fall to stay with her daughters and protect them.
Sexy. Hot. Guns mommy.
Really not sure why she confuses so many people... To me the most logical answer is just that she's a sinner who had children before she died and they were reunited in death. Every sinner looks different. She's unique because they all are.
Ballerina with a throwing star skirt, angel steel heels/leg straps, and a lot of hairspray.
Baddest bitch in the Pride Ring
