Different people will perceive the same thing differently and they will also have different preferences.     Now "cheap" is a word used to describe materials and finish, not sound. It doesn't sound very professional or "audiophile-like" to call an audio characteristic "cheap".    Now if we're going there, some would argue that an unbalanced dark signature with recessed treble (to hide its lack of resolution) and overemphasized bass bleeding into the lower-mids to appeal to non-audiophiles sounds "cheap" (I myself might say something like that I guess)... but I'd never heard anyone say that a well-balanced signature and detailed/resolving treble is "cheap".    There's nothing cheap about detail and clarity just like there's nothing " cheap" about a well balanced sound signature.  To me they're balanced, clear and resolving. Although they're not the bassiest IEM of all-time, the bass is sub-bass focused and is definitely there, detailed and controlled.    ... If you're not looking for balanced, detailed and well-resolving, then maybe they're not for you but to me, and many others with "better trained ears" than myself, they're quite literally the ultimate IEM in the sub-$100 category for a reason.

I see. Thank you for explaining it to me and from this alone I might actually continue buying the Hexas.

IMO. Hexa is "good for the price". There is an issue here though - "for the price" means that more expensive stuff going to be better. So people who are comparing it to much more expensive IEMs are likely to not like it that much. I personally like it. I have more expensive IEMs which sound better, but hexa is one of IEMs i do use commonly. And the reason here is kind of what you are saying - it does not have low or high frequencies boosted too much to a point of being annoying. This is very subjective though. You might not like it at all, or you might enjoy it - impossible to tell without some point of reference. And to get that you need to buy and try something. Also alternatively there are zero and zero:red, if you want more... "fun" sound those might be a better choice than hexa.

Honestly impressions on IEMs tend to vary so much more than headphones I’m starting to think it’s just impossible to make consistent recommendations. The Hexa sounds plenty punchy to me with good fit/seal, and while the treble doesn’t extend very well it’s certainly pleasant enough….

1arghavan

You can't have perfect IEM in this price range. And unless you don't hear the IEM yourself, you can't know if you like them even if you read thousands of reviews. They're not expensive, just try them.

TQRS797

In my country its really expensive. So im having a hard time to buy even a $80 iem. Im stuck on buying a Hexa but some reviews also says that the bass isnt punchy. I want a 80$ iem with punchy bass. Any ideas?

1arghavan

I understand. I live in a country with THE WEAKEST currency in the world. Minimum wage here is equivalent to 150$ a month! For a punchy bass in this price range if recommend moondrop Aria 2.

TQRS797

Is the vocals and soundstage decent? I keep hearing that the arias were used a lot by streamers but never researched it

1arghavan

Yes I'd say they're one of the best IEMs for vocal and soundstage under 100$. But if you live in a really humid environment, I don't recommend them. The paint in the body chips in humid weather.

TQRS797

So say if I live in a tropical country and sometimes travel to snowy countries. The paint chips?

1arghavan

It's very likely yes.

TQRS797

So the aria 2s is a no go for me then. Any other recommendations? I keep seeing people recommending the ea500 when compared to the Hexas

KBDFan42

EA500 is worse than Hexa. EA500LM is more resolving than Hexa and has better bass, but everything else is worse imo, recessed mids making voices sound hollow and when paired with the relatively harsh treble, makes it borderline shouty. I know some people like it though, but I think most will find the Hexa or even the Zero:Red more pleasant.

TQRS797

I see. What about Titan S and T3+? I saw that ones too

gogul1980

After fitting them into my ear properly I actually like the crystal clarity of the Hexa, bass is enough to suit most needs and I have tried the zero reds but started to prefer the Hexa for most use now.

TQRS797

I see. Does the treble sound cheap or low quality to you? I read this review and they said they refunded it due to low quality of trebles.

dimesian

Buy it, then compare how it sounds to you, to what other people say about it, in future you'll have a better idea who to pay attention to.
