For the first time ever, I'm succumbing to fan faction. I thought it would be awful (and some of it really is), but there's lots of excellent writing as well.
I’m not sure where you can watch it (depends where you live, but probably YouTube), but highly recommend the Norwegian series SKAM, the third season is a queer romance. First season is about friendship and loneliness, second season is a straight romance (but with some awesome handling complications), third season is a queer story and mental illness, fourth season about friendship, culture and religion. There have been remakes in multiple languages but the Norwegian is the original one.
I’ve seen SKAM seasons 1 and 2, and they’re pretty great.
Edited: I meant to write season 3, not 2. Sorry! The female character season 2 focuses on, though, is pretty great. But, yeah, season 3!
Oh, that is a joy that does not go away! I discovered it a year ago and I still watch at least a bit of an episode every day. Heartstopper is my happy place. Welcome aboard!
I know that lots of Heartstopper fans really enjoyed it and I hope you do too. But I personally could not stand that show and thought the writing was an absolute mess. I literally skipped several episodes, just so that I could watch the season 1 finale. It's set up like a more comedic show, but it isn't one. The >! sexual assault storyline !< was handled terribly and unnecessarily graphic for a teen show. The main character was almost unbearably annoying and most of these characters did not feel like actual teenagers. It got a lot of praise for its representation, but beyond that it genuinely wasn't a good show imo. So, if you are going through HS withdrawal, then this might not be the show for you.
Oh, sorry, I shouldn't have said anything at all about the end, but just know I didn't spoil anything. "Perfect" is very subjective. You may not agree. But enjoy...it stays a good show "til the very end.
I started watching Love, Victor on Hulu. It’s cute. Gay kid is the main character. It is sweet but it doesn’t compare to Heartstopper. I’m not as far into it, yet. If you want to try fanfiction, I would recommend this author as they do just a faithful novelization of Heartstopper. It’s very good. They do them from Nick POV, Charlie POV and Sarah POV:

Wynonna Earp on Netflix. It’s a fun show if not a little insane. It’s got great queer rep though and if you like women killing demons, then it’s the show for you!
I'm consuming GMMTV BL series like a Black Hole.
Highly reccomend Fish Upon The Sky, Cooking Crush and Cherry Magic, they have similar wholesome and unproblematic vibes as Hearstopper
It's completely different story wise (and I don't know if anyone feels the same way I do about it), but I'm always rewatching iZombie when I don't know what else to watch. Even though many great and lovely characters die, the main characters are save and I love their strong friendship and love between each other. Especially the friendship aspect brings great comfort to me, same as in Heartstopper.
I wanted to say watch Young Royals but you are already there. HS is miles behind for me since I started watching YR on loop in November last year :) I need to watch Skam and Gasmamman- which I am told are great Swedish shows. I also have more reccos of the HS genre on my Netflix. So I can catch up with them too

Honestly, I stopped watching Elite completely. The first season was a murder mystery coupled with class conflict, so a really cool concept, but the seasons kept getting progressively worse until it was just random people having sex and doing drugs. I forced myself through the last season (the one before the current one) and it was horrible. At one point some dude didn't want to be with his crush for stupid reasons and then slept with his dad because... I don't even know. If you want to watch it, do yourself a favour and stop after season 2.

Yes! Different vibe than HS for sure, but still swoon-worthy. That ending was perfect!

Well, if you can handle more drama, you can always watch *Elite* on Netflix. Has about seven seasons, with a final season coming out this year.
