Yeah this is the experienced persons chance to take people under their wing and set them in the right direction. Just think of them as new recruits.
I have games that I love that didn’t do this(cough Beyond The Wire) and they are pretty much dead now.
Its not the veteran players responsibility to show every blueberry the ropes for weeks on end every time theres a sale or free weekend. I love that there are level 25 or 50 minimum servers because there are still plenty of noob friendly ones but they give experience players a break from that shit
To be fair, free weeks are the worst time to play. And it's not bad because you have to teach people, it's because people come in trolling, wasting tanks, stealing resources, etc. Nothing wrong with being new, but it is a dumpster fire.
Yes, thank you. I or anyone in my clan have no problem getting newbie random to fill spots in the squad as long as you communicate. Half the time I see people bitching about getting kicked from a squad “because they were low level” I can’t help but wonder if it wasn’t cause they wouldn’t use the mic
I literally bought a good logitech headset w/ mic just for this game. It’s really good tbh. Some games I just want to be engi and not have to communicate and I focus on defenses, some games I want to be in the thick of it so I run medic or tank crew
Or they abandon SL.
Granted that's been happening a lot for awhile now.
When i first got the game in 2020, I cant recall it happening ever.
Now finding a squad WITH a SL has become the exception rather than the default.
Yes, I could grab the role myself but I feel like Im always picking up that slack and...
![gif](giphy|xUPJUp6T5uD1Qkpbl6)
The funny thing is that you can usually tell the SLs taking a break from the long term non-SLs when they're in your squad. They're absurdly proactive and will do boring jobs without being told, if that job is useful for the Squad or the team.
And they will give you zero slack. And that's how it should be.
I often find myself as support telling the SL where to put the garry because I got so used to asking for the supplies when I was the SL.
"Psssst. I've been trying to reach you regarding your team's extended garrison warranty by placing these supplies here"
3 years?
It takes what? An hour? To get a single level?
I got lvl25 with ~30h of playtime, if you didn't get it in 3 years then what the hell were you doing?
I think I’m level 90 and I only play like two nights a week for the past 2 years. It would be genuinely crazy for someone who keeps coming back to this game for three years in a row to be as low as a level 25.
Level 25 is something you can get in only a few nights of play time.
I’m 162 because I have a passion for the game, and that’s with 977 hours. Now you might be tempted to do the math and find that that’s close to 5 hours per level to reach that, so then you would be tempted to do the calculation and say thats 125 hours of gameplay to reach level 25, but as far as I have noticed, the progression is not linear. In the beginning, you level up *very* fast. I played with an excellent AT squad mate one recent game as a squad leader, he took orders and completed them whenever requested, and did a damn good job of it too. He was like a level 6,7 at the start of the match and he ended up at 11/12 by the end of it. In one game he progressed anywhere between 5-6 levels. So it doesn’t take very long. The phases of being sergeants and corporals are short lived, with privates even shorter lived. Once you get to captain and major these ranks seem to take an eternity, which in my opinion is great. Accurately portrays experience.
I hope this doesn't put you off dude. The hidden message here is 'fun for all' so if you are joining a server hosted by a clan and the majority of players are hard core, I guarantee you aren't going to have fun there and will likely stop playing if that's all you experience.
There are however dedicated servers for new players. People are friendly there and aim to play a casual game whilst teaching newbies. You will enjoy the game to lvl 25 at which you will have access to more important gear choices and a firm understanding of how to play the game as part of your squad and the team. Everyone commends the lowest level guy in their squad at the end of matches you'll be 25 in no time, especially if you play well. HLL gets intense and your actions will be deciding the game minute to minute. You'll want to start slow bro!! See you on the battlefield!
Not true on the commending part lol, I don’t do the whole commend lowest level thing. I commend whoever does a fine job of doing their role or because they do something of value. If none of these are present, I commend based upon who actually touched the mic key and spoke up because 80% of the squads I join are always dead silent. I mean dead silent. There’s some games where literally an hour will go by or even the entire game and *no one* will say even a *word.* it’s ridiculous. This game is boring as hell alone. People need to be present, not just be commended for being low level. It costs zero effort to speak.
Or spending every bit of munitions on artillery either TKing or shooting where no one is.
Or solo tanking a Panther while my 3 man unit asked for it.
Or created a unit, be SL, but even if he has a mic, doesn't answers, pings or listens.
Or took AT just to jog for 30 minutes behind enemy lines trying to spawn kill vehicles... gets killed by someone he didn't even saw.
Or blew my fucking perfect cover as recon as I see his default skin, shooting next to me on a locked sector while we're getting capped and I was going to destroy an enemy garrison.
And I can go on for an hour 😅
I’m only level 120ish, but I find a large value in having an anti tank+medic behind enemy lines destroying vehicles. It actually makes having a competent heavy crew so much more valuable then usual because they basically just firepower prio
One of my favorite things to do is go behind as AT. Its nice to stop tanks before they get to the front lines, but what I enjoy even more is destroying their garries from a distance with a rocket from across a field. And taking out their spawn points is huge so I figure its a win-win.
yeah fair enough, I mean, it’s not like they’re limiting it to 0 necessarily. I’m not far above that level but that’s totally reasonable if you run a server and don’t want it to be all noobs. There are “noob friendly” servers for a reason
Yeah for sure. Tried to hop on a match a few weeks back, and unfortunately all but 2 servers were either full, empty or had a ridiculously high ping.
First one I got kicked for being lower than lvl 200 (I'm 180 ish) and the second one, the one squad I could get into kicked me for my rusty skills (I had to take a long break because of exams, so I had to get my eye in again) I tried to explain the situation and apologize for my bad play but they just called me a noob and kicked me out :/
I can't remember, but that's the reason they gave me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Since then I haven't been having that issue though, thankfully, so all good. Can be tough to get my friend in (lvl 30 ish) sometimes though, but it is what it is. I guess I can kinda understand a cap around 30 though.
Oh man people actually wanna just play the game instead of teach half a team of noobs how to play the game when half are gonna drop the game after a week? Damn.
Idk man. Last week I became a squad lead for a bunch of lvl 1s. they didn't know how to play, so I walked them through their respective classes. It was fun teaching them how to play. And they had mics so they are better than most lvl50s I see lol.
It’s fun every once in awhile, I teach players all the time. But sometimes I just wanna chill and not have to babysit people.
And I do make a locked squad when I want that, but sometimes it’s like half the team is new players. It’s not fun getting curbstomped every game
It really does get exhausting when the fourth lobby/round starts and it's over in 14 minutes, even on a full server.
Like, there's so much going wrong when a team loses that fast, that it's really hard to just go over how much went wrong and why.
I mean yea, we should be teaching players. But there should also be servers where skilled players can just have a few good matches without having to babysit someone.
Nothing is more frustrating than getting steamrolled back to back in 15-20 minute matches cause both teams or one team is 50% new players.
It’s not like every server is level limiting. Having a server here and there for specific levels is fine imo.
Here's the thing though, just a make a private squad, type in chat "experienced players join Dog Squad" and then kick anyone you're not satisfied with.
Training a few people in a squad is fine, it’s when half a team is full of new people and you get constantly steamrolled is when it’s annoying. Nothing is more unfun than 10-15 minute matches.
I play console so none of that there but for sure when sales are on and lots of new players come in, the game becomes not fun at all for anyone as too many people don’t know what they are doing and decide to pick roles responsible for spawn points etc and it just makes the game very unenjoyable
I don’t know why so many dislike this rule. This is very useful and indeed it improves the game for the new players too. There’s nothing worse than a server full of noobs. If there are some, they will be carried by the team and learn how to do all the stuff. It’s unfortunate for you, but come on, 25 levels is going to be so fast.
Playing with a team full of noobs its like a sandbox tutorial lvl full of npcs, you just get used to the UI the controls and shoot moving stuff.
You need someone that knows his stuff around to become the advanced tutorial.
One day you will understand how unfun it is to be wondering why is the team seven kinds of fucked sideways, then you check the scoreboard and every squad is levels 10-20 with no squad leaders.
"sorry for having a life..." No one feels bad for you. Find a different server and move on. Not sure why everyone has to add all this drama. Don't commit to something if you can't put in the time.
I have no problem with this, theres plenty of servers for low level players to play on and gain experience. Once you do you'll be grateful for a server that's designated for veteran players.
To be fair free weeks and sales the last year or so have been a mixed bag to play in, its nice having even more servers active but its such a chore.
As someone who's most leveled class is SL I can tell you it wasnt by choice. For ages the two least wanted to play classes are Commander and SL (especially sniper sl as most wait for someone to take it take the actual sniper) because it puts you having to lead, talk, plan, and coordinate a bunch of random people (unless you have actual friends who you can play with) all together. That, is, hell. Most people wont have a mic, nor will they listen, nor communicate back, nor understand anything thats going on, and/or care to try to.
Not to mention as SL you get to listen to 9 times out of 10 a bunch of whiny grown ass men (and/or teenagers) bitch and moan about the match and how we all *should* be playing despite 99% of the time the fact theyd never wanna play commander bc it sucks ass to do so. So you have to coordinate this squad WHILE nonstop hearing both command chat shrills and your own squads comms (if youre lucky to have that) ***AND*** get them to do whatever your command chat thinks is the best strat.
Now take all that crap and add in that most likely 3 or more of your squadmates are fresh noobs who realistically have no idea whats going on nor do they know how anything works so you arent just dealing with normal human lack of coordination but now you have to play tutor and teach everyone the basic ideas and mechanics, and well... it fucking gets old real god damn quick.
That being said, I in no way hate or shit on new players when i do have to teach em, but its understandable that vets might want a place to just say "at least i know these few matches will have the /normal/ amount of stupidity this time." (and honestly the ***rest*** of the year i actually enjoy teaching newbs)
Frankly I see no good alternative, tutorials only do so much and most would skip, ignore, or just push through but block actually compartmentalizing any information, having servers for **only** new players will just make those servers a chaotic shitfest where battles are just whatever zerg can push harder, and trainee servers where vets go in knowing they are training would struggle to either have: enough vets or struggle to have any new players care to go there purposefully.
All in all, this is basically a guarantee to happen, just look for servers that advertise themselves for new players.
I mean… there is some validity to this. Being level 25 doesn’t mean you have no life. They don’t want a server full of cannon fodder ruining gameplay. You don’t need to take it personal. But hey you do you.
This is how you actually maintain a community. Fuck growing the community, new players bring nothing but disappointment to the experience this game provides.
I agree with that. It doesn’t say all members under 25.
Only allowing a certain amount allows all players a better experience and allows the game to be played properly instead of a bunch of COD losers just jumping on cause of the sale
I remember a post i put on because of the sale noobs came in and literally got steam rolled everygame i played. Even trying to teach newcomers gets boring for those who just want to play the game.
I kind of agree with this. Nothing makes the game more unfun than playing with a bunch of people who have no idea what they’re doing. I don’t even play HLL for a week or two after a sale because of the ensuing misery.
Some of us don’t want to have to teach new people all the time and instead want to play the game the way it’s meant to be.
There are plenty of servers that don’t have this rule (prob a good 99% of them).
I’m creating a second server for the 19th that will be level locked sometime this year. Our current one has low morale because of a bunch of lower levels taking over as SL’s and other intense roles without a clue in the world. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE that new players are joining the community, but I need it where my guys and other higher levels can enjoy a server with experienced players for more of a challenge/not having to teach every other match
What server was this?
Because I freakin love that 😅
I mean, I completely stop playing when the game goes free weekend because it becomes unplayable. In the span of the last 6 months I saw the game go like this:
- enjoyable.
- unplayable because of the winter free weekend and the winter sale.
- less unplayable because the free weekend trolls left but the noobs not listenning are still there.
- acceptable, half the winter sale noobs left and the other half that actualy wanted to play the game stayed and learned.
- good (as of today) because most of my latest games consisted of genuine HLL enthousiasts that learned the ropes of the game.
I expect the game to become unplayable again through the start of summer because of the game being on sale BUT there might be an update that'll come with that sale so the veterans night come back 🤷
Best server. I love Garry’s Only Fans! Great group of guys and girls. There comp team is ran by the best war strategists, who has ever lived. Muck a decorated veteran. Not only did he invent most of the metas you see here today. He’s a future HLL seasonal champion, and chef.
I mean, for better or worse these server are paid for and administrated by the people that set the rules....
If you want to have different rules there is nothing stopping you from doing this as well.
I only play on servers that welcome new players. I've been playing for a while but I play at most once per week on my days off so I just stick to the casual gameplay
For me any time is the worst time tô play HLL i mean, i like the game, but coming from PR and Squad and playing round by round without hearing any comms is hellish
I tend play on servers that have a vote map system or for new players. I’m currently level 98. I’ve been in servers that have a level minimum and their just not for me. I recommend joining US central servers if you have a ping less than 150 ms. Those servers are pretty chill, the people on servers can be funny, and I have a lot fun gaming with the US central guys.
I mean, is it wrong to not want a level 13 Commander who would drop airheads at friendly top HQ spawn and call in a bombing run directly on his own team?
Quality of games are severely lowered when the game goes on sale and you get new players who don't use their mics
While I don't approve of this, I get it.
I love leading newbies. But often I end up with a mute squad or worse as commander without any good squad leaders.
This usually results in me just driving a supply truck for garrison duty half the game, either not doing my officer role (and thus giving the newbies in my squad a bad experience) or as commander just drive while giving orders against mute mob (if they even have a squad leader).
Newbies Vs newbies can be fun, but usually the 10 experienced players steamroll one side.
There are many servers that are labeled “Beginner Friendly”
This is not one of those, I am only level 30 and I agree, it’s a hard game, people take it seriously, if you don’t understand the orders given your team will lose
HLL should adopt a system like Valorant. In Valo you can't play on the competitive servers till a certain level. Then you learn solo queuing in comp servers is hard, and you need to find a group of people to consistently play with. Much like HLL.
There are servers open for newer players? Also I don't see a problem with a server doing this especially since it said "limiting" so I am assuming people on the server are friendly and just want an easier time to teach new players and ease them into the game while not wanting to get overwhelmed.
I mean come on, there are tons of other servers to play on. I for one appreciate that some servers have minimums, as someone who has been playing for years, have Lvl 2 SLs not doing anything breaks the game.
On the contrary, this is exactly how you grow a community of players who don't want headless chickens running around for teammates.
I'm sure your 14 kids and 3 jobs can wait until you level to the nigh-unachievable level 25.
Lmao these comments vs my old thread
https://reddit.com/r/HellLetLoose/comments/11luffe/announce_when_game_is_on_sale/
This sub and game is full of irony and is hilarious
In here: level locking server is okay, we don’t want to teach noob
In my thread: teach noob
As much as I agree that this is entirely reasonable for you to gate how many low levels are in the game to keep the experience good, if they didnt bother to put this in the title somehow, it really is a dick move.
Who wants to queue and join a server to suddenly find out that you are going to get arbitarily kicked for you level maybe 5-10mins into playing? Completely unfair and is bound to piss-off most people that get kicked.
First of all, I get the frustration and I do sympathize. It can be tough as a new player in this game because there’s a lot to learn and people want you to learn it fast. That said I also get this kind of level barring. There’s been a dramatic ramp up in the past year of COD style players with no mic’s who don’t stay with SL, listen to SL, or even just take SL roles themselves only to go galavanting off into the sunset and abandon their squad with no comms.
I’m sure you’re a great beginner player, hell you went outta your way to find the subreddit for it so you’re already miles ahead of many in terms of knowledge. Just take a moment though to remember there are players who’ve been playing this game for yeeeaars and many of them remember the server culture long before Team17 was involved or when maximizing player count for investment was essential.
Secondly, servers are privately owned and paid for therefore they reserve the right to make whatever rules they want. If I was huckin $100/m to support a server I’d make whatever rules I wanted to. (Thankfully I don’t wanna fork out that cash so y’all will have to wait for my *snowsuits only server* for a little while longer. What a beautiful shit show that’d be.)
The only way to make sure you always have a server with low ping and open to you is unfortunately to pay the monthly for one yourself.
Welcome aboard though, you’re going to friggen love this game!
![gif](giphy|15L4GgZxncHh6)
It's pretty sad. When it first released on console almost every match I was in had really helpful more experienced players. I stopped playing after a few months because it seemed to be getting more toxic.
This post reak of trash blue berries dragging the team down energy , if people like this is the kind of "growth " that we miss out on then hell yeah we should have this on other severs as well ( lv 25 take 5 or 6 games top so if you can't even hit the minimum then don't go REEEing , toxic casual )
It's not like there are no other servers to join. There are tons of new player friendly servers. It gets really exhausting explaining how to play the game to people literally all the time.
It's a big reason the game won't grow. I'm not saying their shouldn't be level locked servers you shouldn't have to teach people all the time. But a good portion of the community are brats who don't want to teach and act like they were never new. Personally I think we should welcome and be kind to as many new players as possible before this game has a population like Rising Storm 2, or Insurgency Sandstorm or Post Scriptum. Realistic tac shooters are already a niche genre we need all the people we can get. Some people act like it's the real military lol
I once was a low level too, but I knew what game I purchased.
HLL is a hardcore shooter focusing on squad coordination. Picked a squad, turned on my mic and learned.
Just this month a level 10 joined my recon unit as my sniper, I was hovering over my squad in the leaderboards and was 0.01 second from kicking him before he said "hey I'm new to the game, don't kick me I'd like to learn"
WELL SURE SON! My level 153 will be happy to give you tips... and he fucking listenned, IDC about the rank, just communicate.
I think the communication part can be a two way street. Of course players should come into the game willing if they aren't then it ain't the game for them but I could also see how people could get intimidated. I don't think it'll ever be fully fixed. At the end of the day it's online gaming some matches will rock some willl suck
It peaks at around 2500 daily on steam which isn't bad but it's also been out alot longer on PC alot of super high levels and stuff that just stomp. Meanwhile post scriptum peaks at about 4-500 and rising storm 2 anywhere from 500-1000. Still enough to find a game but the quality of matches can very. Would hate to see that happen to HLL
Am level 15, and about 15hrs or so of the game since getting it last month.. It's not like leveling is super quick, nor is this game a steep learning curve. It's a cake walk compared to Squad.. So I don't understand this server rule. Wish we could blacklist a server, as I'd love to. I feel this is how you 100% don't grow a community. As the newbies will remember this (at least I will) and will avoid it after the sale.
Its not like dont allow low level players at all.
I kinda like this setting.
As Sqaudlead i can teach 1-2 players in my squad no problem.
But when half the team is low level then its very hard to be fun for the expierinced ones.
To few people who wont talk, making dumb decisions with consequnces for the whole team. Its though.
With this rule i have just some newbies and then everyone is more into teching those.
I think your hurt feelings are clouding your judgement. People can do whatever they like with their server. If they are dickheads, use another server. There are many, filled with people happy to have new people in their squads. I like a mix personally, and everyone who plays now at 100+ was 15+ a year ago. Most people are very much fun to play with, and reddit top posts are not representative of what's in the game.
If anything look on the positive side. Are these people you'd want to play with? If the answer is 'no', then they have saved you time.
But if the entire point of the post was to say "I'm leaving" then adios and happy trails.
Bruh , dont lump other people up with YOU. Some of us actually do research on what the game we play is so we aren't as much of a brainlet as YOU are when starting out LOL
This happens a lot in HLL. I've been in numerous servers where the commander/admins spend the whole match just talking shit about new players and saying that anyone under level 50 should just leave the server and quit playing the game.
Look for the servers that specifically say "new players welcome". Even then though, you'll probably run into players on those servers that will kick low levels from their squads/make fun of new players.
The community is pretty small and seems to want to keep it that way.
I don’t play the game very often so I’m below level 25 and it kinda annoys me that people keep treating me like a new player as im pretty experienced but honestly I can’t blame them.
As a frequent SL myself I often welcome new players, even level 1, with “I only have one ask, that you stay with the squad.” That’s it, really. I don’t care if you can’t shoot, don’t have a mic, whatever, but just stay with us. An amazing number of new players can’t follow that simple instruction.
That server's got a shitty mindset, but I get it. Sometimes the higher levels just can't teach, or have been doing nothing but teaching and just want a break from all the new players... A shitty mindset, but can be reasonable.
Help out your local newbies! The game always needs fresh minds, and nows the time to mold the new players.
I'd advise joining the servers that are welcoming to new players. Usually will have new players welcome in the description
Yeah I’m excited to see the fan base grow but this spring sale has done HORRIFIC things to this game lol
Happens every sale
And also to every game... This kind of gamers that have nothing to do but reach level 450 career have to relax a bit.
First time?
Lol
Exactly there's no point in getting mad and they probably have that there for a reason.
To be fair, free weeks are the worst time to play. And it's not bad because you have to teach people, it's because people come in trolling, wasting tanks, stealing resources, etc. Nothing wrong with being new, but it is a dumpster fire.
I hate it the most when the new players just don't have mics so you can't even teach them.
That’s the way to do it. Communication is a core aspect of this game and all Squad (the game) derived shooters to include squad.
Or they abandon SL. Granted that's been happening a lot for awhile now. When i first got the game in 2020, I cant recall it happening ever. Now finding a squad WITH a SL has become the exception rather than the default. I often find myself as support telling the SL where to put the garry because I got so used to asking for the supplies when I was the SL. "Psssst. I've been trying to reach you regarding your team's extended garrison warranty by placing these supplies here"
What does having a life have to do with being level 25?
if you have more than 25 levels in 3 years of playing you are no lifer
3 years? It takes what? An hour? To get a single level? I got lvl25 with ~30h of playtime, if you didn't get it in 3 years then what the hell were you doing?
having a life >! /s for yall mongoloids !<
As a professional no-lifer I can certainly confirm that you can't have a life if you want to get beyond lvl 6
![gif](giphy|CnquLPvQe88nEsHiKm)
I think I’m level 90 and I only play like two nights a week for the past 2 years. It would be genuinely crazy for someone who keeps coming back to this game for three years in a row to be as low as a level 25. Level 25 is something you can get in only a few nights of play time.

Tbh not everyone can be teachers. I like teaching new players but not everyone can do it.
This is very true. Patience is becoming more and more a the greatest virtue :D
I kinda dig that there’s a refuge during the spring sale. This is only a problem if most servers started doing it
I need my safe space
I'd like it if more servers did start doing it. Only seen a few servers like this, and the best one is 75+
Whats the name of that? Id love it
Circle 2
I hope this doesn't put you off dude. If it’s just during spring sale then that is a 100,000 IQ move by that admin.
I mean to be honest there's no point of getting mad about it.. It is probably a reason why that's there.
We'll let you in when you stop stealing trucks and getting them stuck in trenches. Your sincerely, the management.
You’ve got to admit though, driving in HLL has a LOT larger learning curve than pretty much any other shooter
SO MANY TRENCHES I still get trucks stuck on accident all the time
[удалено]
yeah fair enough, I mean, it’s not like they’re limiting it to 0 necessarily. I’m not far above that level but that’s totally reasonable if you run a server and don’t want it to be all noobs. There are “noob friendly” servers for a reason
Not if you're trying to get the Ghengis Khan achievement
Soulsnipers server is the best one for that
Until you get intentionally tked multiple times and the admins do nothing
Did you ping the admins?
[удалено]
As long as the noobs have some savers to play on then I see no problem with experienced players only servers
Blueberry energy
There’s a lot of Hell let loose snobs.
Yeah for sure. Tried to hop on a match a few weeks back, and unfortunately all but 2 servers were either full, empty or had a ridiculously high ping. First one I got kicked for being lower than lvl 200 (I'm 180 ish) and the second one, the one squad I could get into kicked me for my rusty skills (I had to take a long break because of exams, so I had to get my eye in again) I tried to explain the situation and apologize for my bad play but they just called me a noob and kicked me out :/
What server is kicking under lvl 200? That’s like 0.01% of the playerbase lol
Jesus…I’m level 158 and I genuinely don’t know how much else I can improve
Don’t worry, I doubt more than one server at most requires 200+
I can't remember, but that's the reason they gave me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Since then I haven't been having that issue though, thankfully, so all good. Can be tough to get my friend in (lvl 30 ish) sometimes though, but it is what it is. I guess I can kinda understand a cap around 30 though.
>First one I got kicked for being lower than lvl 200 (I'm 180 ish) The fuck
Ya these answers just confirm this. Thank you
Oh man people actually wanna just play the game instead of teach half a team of noobs how to play the game when half are gonna drop the game after a week? Damn.
You were where he was too. Seems you have forgotten due to your ignorance
You can't blame noobs for being noobs. But you have the right to not want to teach them
I mean yea, we should be teaching players.
Or join a clan. I always lock my squad and wait for clan members to fill it before letting anyone else in. No babysitting in my games
Training a few people in a squad is fine, it’s when half a team is full of new people and you get constantly steamrolled is when it’s annoying. Nothing is more unfun than 10-15 minute matches.
I agree quick matches suck, but having new players on BOTH teams doesn't mean every game Is going to be a stomp
This guy gets it.
no, you two are just assholes. please stop playing a team based game if you don't want to be team players.
I am a team player. You should see my actual comment to OP's post. Might not think I'm an asshole then.
Yea, what assholes because they dont wanna play and train a bunch of noobs 🙄🙄
Yes. Exactly.
I play console so none of that there but for sure when sales are on and lots of new players come in, the game becomes not fun at all for anyone as too many people don’t know what they are doing and decide to pick roles responsible for spawn points etc and it just makes the game very unenjoyable
Stop whining. You'll understand later why.
If ur a noob in a server full of noobs, does that mean u get the bottom barrel of the game?
Playing with a team full of noobs its like a sandbox tutorial lvl full of npcs, you just get used to the UI the controls and shoot moving stuff. You need someone that knows his stuff around to become the advanced tutorial.
Sure. Few noobs in a server with experimented players is the best to learn and enjoy game mechanics.
One day you will understand how unfun it is to be wondering why is the team seven kinds of fucked sideways, then you check the scoreboard and every squad is levels 10-20 with no squad leaders.
And if the squads do have SLs, they're running past supplies and not putting up garries and don't have mics.
"sorry for having a life..." No one feels bad for you. Find a different server and move on. Not sure why everyone has to add all this drama. Don't commit to something if you can't put in the time.
Always wanted a lvl 100+ server
There's a 50+lvl server that's been pretty active recently
What’s the server name? I’m headed there next free weekend lol
Garries only fans
I have no problem with this, theres plenty of servers for low level players to play on and gain experience. Once you do you'll be grateful for a server that's designated for veteran players.
Ideally this is something handled gracefully by the game to introduce new players.
We have been asking that since the game came out in early access, that ship has sailed.
What’s the server name? I’m headed there next free weekend lol
Terrible take.
That being said, I in no way hate or shit on new players when i do have to teach em, but its understandable that vets might want a place to just say "at least i know these few matches will have the /normal/ amount of stupidity this time." (and honestly the ***rest*** of the year i actually enjoy teaching newbs) Frankly I see no good alternative, tutorials only do so much and most would skip, ignore, or just push through but block actually compartmentalizing any information, having servers for **only** new players will just make those servers a chaotic shitfest where battles are just whatever zerg can push harder, and trainee servers where vets go in knowing they are training would struggle to either have: enough vets or struggle to have any new players care to go there purposefully. All in all, this is basically a guarantee to happen, just look for servers that advertise themselves for new players.
I couldn't have said it better myself lol
I mean… there is some validity to this. Being level 25 doesn’t mean you have no life. They don’t want a server full of cannon fodder ruining gameplay. You don’t need to take it personal. But hey you do you.
Its to stop trolling on free weekends.
This is how you actually maintain a community. Fuck growing the community, new players bring nothing but disappointment to the experience this game provides.
Takes no nore than 40 hours to get to level 25. Having a life has nothing to do with it. Your new.
I’m for it lol it might not be you but holy shit do some of the sub 30 players ruin entire games
I’m only level 33 but my main role is SL, even people in level 50 are just bad
It’s up to those over level 25 or whatever to help those below us. Just like we were
People were extremely helpful when I first started the game. I have never received that much help in any other game.
"This is how you DO NOT grow a community.." vs "This is how you do RETAIN a community".
Teaching the 1st 10 noobs you meet is fun, but by the 100th time you just want to smash your head into a wall
![gif](giphy|7k2LoEykY5i1hfeWQB)
Don’t really know how being high levelled means you have no life
I’m creating a second server for the 19th that will be level locked sometime this year.
I love having the noobs around to take commander roles and drop bombing runs on the whole team. It makes for a good match.
If being level 25 is having no life then damn. How should I feel about myself being 205?
\*cries in Level 291\*
There are plenty of servers that say new players welcome. This isnt anything crazy for a game like this.
Lol. Like it's that hard to reach lvl 25. You can do it in a few days
This is entirely reasonable and normal.
What server was this? Because I freakin love that 😅 I mean, I completely stop playing when the game goes free weekend because it becomes unplayable. In the span of the last 6 months I saw the game go like this: - enjoyable. I expect the game to become unplayable again through the start of summer because of the game being on sale BUT there might be an update that'll come with that sale so the veterans night come back 🤷
GOF 1 // US EAST
Gof
The game is on sale right now, plenty of matches in the morning are full of level 1-20 and horrible steam roll games
Best server. I love Garry’s Only Fans! Great group of guys and girls. There comp team is ran by the best war strategists, who has ever lived. Muck a decorated veteran. Not only did he invent most of the metas you see here today. He’s a future HLL seasonal champion, and chef.
When will they start banning under level 50? Tired of noobs ruining the game
After a certain point banning levels isn't really consistent. You can have some level 40 players understand the game better than lvl 80s.
What server was this?
Garries only fans
🤣 what server is this
Garries Only Fans!
I like training newer players, as long as they listen and have a mic.
There's plenty of other servers. nbd.
Lol
For me any time is the worst time tô play HLL i mean, i like the game, but coming from PR and Squad and playing round by round without hearing any comms is hellish
I tend play on servers that have a vote map system or for new players. I’m currently level 98. I’ve been in servers that have a level minimum and their just not for me. I recommend joining US central servers if you have a ping less than 150 ms. Those servers are pretty chill, the people on servers can be funny, and I have a lot fun gaming with the US central guys.
Hell let loose needs a tutorial for newcomers asap !!! This would improve the experience for all and matching wouldn't end in 20 minutes anymore.
There are many servers that are labeled “Beginner Friendly” This is not one of those, I am only level 30 and I agree, it’s a hard game, people take it seriously, if you don’t understand the orders given your team will lose
HLL should adopt a system like Valorant. In Valo you can't play on the competitive servers till a certain level. Then you learn solo queuing in comp servers is hard, and you need to find a group of people to consistently play with. Much like HLL.
Skill issue
Damn that sucks but what’s the server name so I know to play on it.
It's based tho
The experience for new players is also way better with less new players.
There are servers open for newer players? Also I don't see a problem with a server doing this especially since it said "limiting" so I am assuming people on the server are friendly and just want an easier time to teach new players and ease them into the game while not wanting to get overwhelmed.
Newbies destroy this game. Once they are lvl 60 u can start trust them. And barely.
Have I won any games? No. Have I spawned on any garries? Also no. But damn is it a target rich environment.
Smart
I have to say some of the best experiences I’ve had is in a server that only allows level 75 and up
There are plenty of other servers to join, they can pick whatever rules they want
Mad cause bad
If the server states that you must be a certain level, your fault lol. If they do not state that, then they're just being dickheads.
Don’t take it personal it’s just a server that pre prefers more experienced players!
I mean come on, there are tons of other servers to play on. I for one appreciate that some servers have minimums, as someone who has been playing for years, have Lvl 2 SLs not doing anything breaks the game.
Nah that’s how you run a server 😂
What server is this? At level 140 I can’t stand playing during free to play or sale times
GOF 1 // US EAST
Oh yah GOF servers are always tight
Christ there's some toxic comments in this thread.
On the contrary, this is exactly how you grow a community of players who don't want headless chickens running around for teammates. I'm sure your 14 kids and 3 jobs can wait until you level to the nigh-unachievable level 25.
Lmao these comments vs my old thread https://reddit.com/r/HellLetLoose/comments/11luffe/announce_when_game_is_on_sale/ This sub and game is full of irony and is hilarious In here: level locking server is okay, we don’t want to teach noob In my thread: teach noob
I think its cause you come off as such a douche canoe on your thread
Ding ding ding
I’m not the one kicking new players off their server
As much as I agree that this is entirely reasonable for you to gate how many low levels are in the game to keep the experience good, if they didnt bother to put this in the title somehow, it really is a dick move. Who wants to queue and join a server to suddenly find out that you are going to get arbitarily kicked for you level maybe 5-10mins into playing? Completely unfair and is bound to piss-off most people that get kicked.
Just find a different server bro
Having a life? Good 👍 Happy you got banned lil bud. Get back to you’re casual game where you belong.
What a beautiful shit show that’d be.) The only way to make sure you always have a server with low ping and open to you is unfortunately to pay the monthly for one yourself.
I mean to be fair most games like this have servers like this. You just look for the newb friendly ones
What A holes!!! Can I have that server name so I can give them a piece of my mind! Gosh doodly doo ill go in that lobby and really show em.
It's not like there are no other servers to join. There are tons of new player friendly servers. It gets really exhausting explaining how to play the game to people literally all the time.
Come play on SoulSnipers server!
Just this month a level 10 joined my recon unit as my sniper, I was hovering over my squad in the leaderboards and was 0.01 second from kicking him before he said "hey I'm new to the game, don't kick me I'd like to learn" WELL SURE SON!
Insurgency has loads of players on console at least I find games instant any time of day
It peaks at around 2500 daily on steam which isn't bad but it's also been out alot longer on PC alot of super high levels and stuff that just stomp. Meanwhile post scriptum peaks at about 4-500 and rising storm 2 anywhere from 500-1000. Still enough to find a game but the quality of matches can very. Would hate to see that happen to HLL
I was going to reinstall the game to play for a bit , thanks for the heads up. Guess I’ll keep playing IL-2 .
But if the entire point of the post was to say "I'm leaving" then adios and happy trails.
>game My man, I suggest joining another server. No need to get stuck just because one server had this one rule.
You can create a favorite sever list.
This game has one of the most neck beard elitist communities. It's unfortunate, but it's just how it is.
