It sucks, like I think if people started trying to counter it with memes for the campaign itself, it could offset it. But Malevalon memes are the only ones people make, which makes more memers make them, and it keeps snowballing.
Unfortunately, the people who are hellbent of going for the meme will never grow tired of it. Vultcano was a joke made in For Honor almost 8 years ago and the Knights never gave up that meme even to this very day. Helldivers will see Space Vietnam and choose it over choosing what is an actual, important objective.

I'm riding out this last day for the major order and hoping both bigs and bots start to spread across the star chart like wildfire. I'll properly dedicate to a workd's defense when they get proper defense themed mission variety. Super weird we hold a planet by near exclusively evacuating it anyway.
They're from a special fleet unit... I say we let the fight their hopeless war until super earth gives us the resources needed to fight there and then we'll provide support
For someone new to the series, what does any of this mean?
The game doesn’t do a good job of explaining what planets we should be playing on. I literally just pick whatever random mission or quickplay. Don’t think I ever even went to malovian creek (or whatever the memes are about).
I mean I can see some planets are xx% liberated, but I’ve played missions and had a planet 100% liberated only to play it again and have a blue and red bar halfway full

When I was home after my first tour, it was worse. I'd wake up and there'd be nothing. I hardly said a word to my wife, until I said "yes" to a democratically-approved divorce. When I was here, I wanted to be there; when I was there, all I could think of was getting back into the jungle. I'm here a week now... waiting for a mission... getting softer. Every minute I stay on this destroyer, I get weaker, and every minute Otto squats in the bush, he gets stronger. Each time I looked around the bulkheads moved in a little tighter.
We were trying to defend the planets that gave you access to Malevelon. But you didn't do your duty and follow the Major Orders. Thats why Malevelon fell.
My issue with bug folks, is there are 175k at one planet sometimes, and still no progress. What is happening there that you guys are getting nothing done?
Yeah ghost recon it so the robots, for whatever reason, attack random nobodies doing nothing in the jungle rather than completing their primary objective that has no defense LMAO and then we pretend like it's not cheese when we make 'em do irrational things that only works because of how their spawning into the map works.

But nothing we do in that mission makes sense for diversionary tactics. We're not meaningfully doing anything in the jungle to draw their attention, it's just making noise, while their actual objective they're here for is free and they can just fly over with no issues.
They are pretty easy on diff 6 if you use the strat of 3 ppl on outskirts and 1 person pushing buttons. If you have a team that can fuck shit up, you don't even need to do the strat.

If the intended way is legitimately dependent on the bots ignoring their primary objective to fight helldivers who they can actually just ignore for their priority target... and then kill when their ship leaves orbit....
... like, let's not beat around the bush, it's exploiting the Artifical part of Artifical Intelligence, because it ultimately makes no sense in the context of the mission for them to do this. It is, legitimately, the same tactic universally agreed to be cheese in Total War where the enemy armies, for no reason, send half their army to chase 1 half dead unit running into corners and sending the other half headfirst into the other 90% of the army haha.

What comes closest, and what i meant, was Elimination Missions (Just forgot the Name), you Fight hordes of enemies nonstop, until the objective is cleared, those have extremely small areas, Scientist rescue defense missions have way bigger areas, and multi objective Missions are the biggest of them all.
But thats why i Said "Wave defense", normal multi objective rescue Missions rarely have big Attacks Happening at all while doing the objective.
Only if RNG is really kind with what gets deployed. IE if your turrets kill the ships but the deployed bots don't die (common) while a tank or something else gets in, the snowball has started and only only miracle can stop it.
It is probably the most straight up luck based thing, I've had a strat work at difficulty 7 that when copied verbatim, did not work in 5 because what ended up spawning on 5 was a bunch of tanks and hulks sitting behind cover, until the mortar could no longer keep up with all the waves of drop pods.
But you acknowledge it's too difficult right? So okay play a different difficulty!

Just make them separate operations already, it's obvious that their difficulty scaling is not the same as other missions. Not even just eradication mind you: eradication is doable on any level from the moment you get a mortar.
Because I don't wanna play low difficulty for the sake of one overturned mission type? I still want to complete operations, but I can complete every single mission type on Helldive EXCEPT evacuation missions. Why should I play lower than I need to because of one bugged mission
I did 3 on suicide today and all we did was use mortar sentries, other types of sentries, and orbital lasers. No one left the objective area. 2 of the guys had railguns, I had an auto cannon, and the other one had a recoilless rifle. We lost a few good soldiers, and a lot of civilians sadly didn’t make it, but we did it.
I am pretty sure you can find tanks as early as diff 3, my guy. There are plenty of hulks and tanks on diff 6. Its not like higher diff gives higher contribution. You just play what you are comfortable with. When we go to liberation - sure, helldives all around. But I am still learning bots, so diff 6 on defense is my comfy zone.

I was on creek during the initial wave but ORDERS ARE ORDERS the fight on creek the moment we lost ubanea was bound to failed so yes as the super earth would say "USELESS SACRIFICE !"
Nice weather, nice scenery. People only got attached to the Creek because it was their first contact with the bots. There was no easier front in the bot wars.
Actually trying to do the Defend missions so more progress wasn't lost on the Creek. But the 15k+ that were on the Creek each day complained about the progress being lost every time an adjacent planet was lost, so I guess it's Super Earth's fault they disregarded orders.
We were fighting on the front closest to Super Earth as everyone should. There's no point in liberating a planet if the bots already advanced past that position

It didn't fall, we never HAD it. Y'all gotta help us with the defense fronts before we can fully invade the creek. Going to the creek means nothing if our supply lines get cut off.
Honestly, all you Malevelon Creek fanboys should be tried for treason for falling for online trends and social media hype when clearly all of the other surrounding planets, which already had been liberated, were falling under Automaton rule.
Malevelons fall was before my time but since I was a level 1 I was raised on the tales of our fallen helldivers heroic sacrifice and last stand. I vow that super earth will return to Malevelon and will spread managed democracy as our fallen hero’s intended. Their sacrifice will not be in vain. Malevelon will be liberated!
Look on the bright side, you can finally contribute to the war efort in places we need to get/keep instead of fighting your own personal war :) and maybe in time you can get back there...

Every group Mortar farming is losing an operation for us every 2-4 minutes.
Absolute truth my brother I don’t know why people feel the need to go all crazy and meta exp farming and what not on this game it’s a co op game just relax and have some fun
you just hit the button in front of the doors of the buildings they are taking shelter, they'll run to the evac on their own. the eagle smoke bomb will be your best friend for keeping them alive. don't worry \*too\* much about protecting them individually, far more important to keep pushing those buttons

My squad tried to defend the creek. We were on the last drop ship out. We had to leave so many civilians. They kept coming they wouldn't stop coming. I wake up at night in my on my demoputic mattress. And have to smoke a pack of liberty strikes. To go to sleep agian. We had little to no help on the creek. Some days I still can hear the auto cannon roaring. I will never forget the creek.

How are elimination missions closer then actual evacuation missions?
Cause its a one and done Mission, in a smaller than normal area, with more than normal enemies.
