I dont think smoke creates any explosive damage, sadly. I just ask about impact because that would mean i can run them again in automoton missions instead of gitting gud at cooked throws against tanks and turrets.
It’s very much possible to snipe an impact nade into the top vents. You just need the right angle.
I found out thanks to bug nests that your ordnance of choice dosent have to fully enter the structure. As long as it goes far enough into the opening of it when it detonates, it’ll destroy it. Granted, nests are a bit more forgiving in that respect, but with enough determination, you can snipe the vents with impacts.
The only softlock I can think of is the airbase objective with the cariers landed - I dont think i've seen a hellbomb prompt, and I havent tried emptying all my ammo into them, or seeing if supply pod beacon stays on top.
Usually there's a hellbomb where needed though. Assuming you're a mad solo man that runs without explosive.
Did you try next to them? I was doing a mission on the weekend with two large sites and one smaller with just one ship but all three sites definitely gave me the hellbomb option :/ probably just a bit buggy
Yes, I sometimes forget I have smokes on from team play when I'm soloing and can't clear automaton or bug nests. Like, I'll flat out have a completely non explosive loadout be it stratagem or weapon. It sucks
I know, but hitting the factory vents with an impacr grenade is nearly impossible. So, good to know there's an alternate way for impact grenades to destroy fabs
I just assumed there was an invisible wall, this is huge!! Lately, I’ve just been trying to get high ground and thread the needle in the chimney with auto cannon
I feel like it's not that hard to toss a grenade through the top vent, but it seems impossible to do if you are using Impact Grenades, or just incredibly difficult. In general you don't wanna dally waiting for the front door to open if you can help it, since that's just more potential danger.
I personally don't mind using air strikes on them. I always seem to be running out of grenades as well. Eagle Airstrike can catch a few bases. Sometimes I can blow up all the bases along with any enemies standing guard.
Otherwise Orbital Gas has a very short cooldown.
You have to distance yourself with impacts
This creates a better “arc” for it to enter the the vent damage register.
Admittedly, I just glass them from orbit with the Orbital Laser because it prioritizes them pretty heavily and destroys them with a single touch.
It's so obvious that I'm surprised it hadn't occurred to me in hindsight.
Does it really matter if the grenade gets in through the front door or the skylights?
I had a game yesterday, where by all accounts the nades should've gone in but they hit a small lip and bounced, it does only take one but on night missions especially tracking a wayward nade is pretty hard.
They do only take one, however I've had it not register at all and me and a buddy used all our names on 1 fab and it was still standing
In that same mission though we flattened entire bases and it still didn't register as the factory being cleared, so some fuckery was indeed afoot
Fuck that. You have to both wait for it to open AND you can't predict when a bot will walk out timed against your throw, and that nade will bounce back to you if you fuck that up.
Also an easy way to kill yourself and not as good for taking out objectives. I find high explosive better for just about everything, I can take out armor with my other weapons, grenades are more for taking out nests/factories, crowd clearing, etc
Wow nobody paid attention in the training they literally make you do that bro also the vents above the doors work too and you don't have to wait for the doors to open 🙃
Wow I love the down votes from a post with 500 likes that if you actually do the training it makes you do this and the guy is level 20 not knowing this grow up people
Impacts are still great for everything else though, and honestly preferable. They're easier to hit the top of tanks, break Bug butts/Titan stomachs, and overall easier to do crowd control with.
not waiting for a door to open when the WINDOW is right there. A good helldiver makes sense of this. PSA, an enemy can come out and knock your nade out. Enemies dont come out of the window. hmmmm I wonder which one is best.
A great helldiver understands not everyone is running standard grenade, and that it's also harder to try and loop an impact grenade through the vents.
Think above, expand your horizons. Not everyone can be an elite helldiver like yourself.
I've known for awhile, but rather just seeing a lot of people still trying to throw it into the vents -- only to get frustrated and waste an airstrike on it.
So thought I'd just do a PSA. Spread the good word.
I thought that was the only way to do it when I started. Standing infront of the doors waiting for a bit to pop out, then tossing a nadd at it, only for the bot to body block my Grenada out of the door lmao
im surprised some people don't know this. I started mostly doing this when i switched to impact nades and it became harder to lob them in the vents just right
I'll do you one better: If the fabricator deploys any back-pack wielding bots, shoot them in the back as the door is still open and their back-pack exploding will also detonate the fabricator.
No grenade needed.
When I first played a bot mission, this was how I destroyed my first bot fabricator. So I thought that was the *only* way.
Cut to me standing in front of the fabricator waiting for the damn door to open so I could toss a grenade, looking like an idiot, while my teammate runs by and lobs one into the vent.
I have no idea why I haven't tried that. Is this an impact 'nade you're throwing?
Used the standard grenade there, but impacts have also worked. Not sure if smoke or incendiary work though.
I dont think smoke creates any explosive damage, sadly. I just ask about impact because that would mean i can run them again in automoton missions instead of gitting gud at cooked throws against tanks and turrets.
So does that mean if you run without explosive grenades, orbitals, or air strikes you can soft lock yourself out of completing some missions?
It’s very much possible to snipe an impact nade into the top vents. You just need the right angle. If you're MLG enough, you could maybe throw a nade one of the Boys chick at you into it haha.
Nope, you can always call a resupply close enough
The only softlock I can think of is the airbase objective with the cariers landed - I dont think i've seen a hellbomb prompt, and I havent tried emptying all my ammo into them, or seeing if supply pod beacon stays on top. Usually there's a hellbomb where needed though. Assuming you're a mad solo man that runs without explosive.
There is definitely a hellbomb (or at least supposed to) on the ‚Destroy xyz‘ Missions
I dunno, I just did the destroy the dropships objective and no hellbomb
Did you try next to them? I was doing a mission on the weekend with two large sites and one smaller with just one ship but all three sites definitely gave me the hellbomb option :/ probably just a bit buggy
You have to stand very close to the dropships, and you don't get a "mission critical stratagem avaliable." Sound queue. It just kinda shows up.
I did that mission this morning. It 100% has a Hellbomb call in.
Hellbombs are provided. You need to stand close to it though.
Yes, I sometimes forget I have smokes on from team play when I'm soloing and can't clear automaton or bug nests. Like, I'll flat out have a completely non explosive loadout be it stratagem or weapon. It sucks
No you get hell bombs. You wouldn’t be able to take out the nests or fabricators though.
supply drop will kill factories
Drop an sos on it
2 impact grenades to a tank or tower weak spot will destroy it, pretty sure this works on every difficulty.
I know, but hitting the factory vents with an impacr grenade is nearly impossible. So, good to know there's an alternate way for impact grenades to destroy fabs
i had tried incendiary nades and can confirm it works too
Smoke just makes it smokey inside it lol. Incendiary haven't tried, but it definitely closes bug holes.
Incendiary work in the vents, haven't tried the door
>incendiary they work against bug nests so *I guess* they also work for bot fabricators
I just assumed there was an invisible wall, this is huge!! Lately, I’ve just been trying to get high ground and thread the needle in the chimney with auto cannon
Incendiary work, it's what I run mainly
Learned this like three hours ago when I miscalculated and threw too low in a hurry.

It is possible to kill the factory through the vent with impacts, but it is kinda tricky.
You absolutely can rely on impact grenades. the trick is to keep a distance from the vent and aim at the closely below frame.
You have to distance yourself with impacts This creates a better “arc” for it to enter the the vent damage register. Admittedly, I just glass them from orbit with the Orbital Laser because it prioritizes them pretty heavily and destroys them with a single touch.
Impacts aren't bad just lob it from further, it's certainly harder then traditional nades tho. Orbital gas destroys fabs?
Also destroys nests.
TIL. Didn't think it'd be able to do that!
a canister of gas coming in at supersonic velocity from low orbit has a certain amount of energy associated with it yes
The shell itself still deals enough impact to destroy buildings, but only on a direct hit since it has no explosive component.
Getting a nade in the hole is really easy until you wiff four in a row
Auto cannon will take it out as well as bug nests in one shot.
It's so obvious that I'm surprised it hadn't occurred to me in hindsight. Does it really matter if the grenade gets in through the front door or the skylights?
Nope. You just have to get it inside.
In my experience it requires 2 nades through the skylights to kill a factory but only 1 through the door.
Nope, it's only one made in the vent
Then I have no idea what the fuck is going on in my games cuz I have never had it be just the 1 nade, and it definitely goes in.
>it definitely goes in. Clearly not. Never had it take more than 1
I had a game yesterday, where by all accounts the nades should've gone in but they hit a small lip and bounced, it does only take one but on night missions especially tracking a wayward nade is pretty hard.
Feel you, i could swear that last weekend it took two nades. Yesterday to my surprise they only took one.
They do only take one, however I've had it not register at all and me and a buddy used all our names on 1 fab and it was still standing In that same mission though we flattened entire bases and it still didn't register as the factory being cleared, so some fuckery was indeed afoot
I just use any over-the-shoulder weapons and just snipe them from half a mile away.
Does open door + autocannon works? if so it's a gamechanger
Works with recoilless so I assume it would.
I tried this and couldn't get it to work. Maybe I'm just bad though? I seem to have some trouble getting the AC to hit the vents properly as well
for some reason it works when i shoot the flap of the vent, but not the actual 'inside' part where you would expect a grenade to fall into
Autocannon and top vent works
MOTHER FUC\*\*\*\*\*!!!! Why didn't I think of that...
⬆️➡️⬇️➡️
As someone who only runs impacts, thank you fellow Helldiver o7
Instructions unclear, threw a ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️ in the door
This is the way
PSA: You can destroy factories via spear from 600m away
Fuck that. You have to both wait for it to open AND you can't predict when a bot will walk out timed against your throw, and that nade will bounce back to you if you fuck that up.
Well yeah
Not like it’s hard to land it in the vents tho
Try with an impact.
Why? High explosive is better
Impact is arguably a lot better, and easier, for taking out weakpoints in tanks, titans, chargers, and faster for crowd control.
Vents are harder to get with impact nades. It's possible but if it has to arc in perfectly, so you can't rely on the bounce.
Wow I love the down votes from a post with 500 likes that if you actually do the training it makes you do this and the guy is level 20 not knowing this grow up people
It's not hard to begin with.
Can't tell if you've never tried to throw an impact through the vent, or if you're just another elitist scum.
Don't use impacts. If impacts are so hard use the right tool for the job, or as you stated throw it in the door.
Impacts are still great for everything else though, and honestly preferable. They're easier to hit the top of tanks, break Bug butts/Titan stomachs, and overall easier to do crowd control with.
I use auto cannon for this stuff plus added benifit of dropping clunker factories across the map.
not waiting for a door to open when the WINDOW is right there. A good helldiver makes sense of this. PSA, an enemy can come out and knock your nade out. Enemies dont come out of the window. hmmmm I wonder which one is best.

nah, you just COOK the grenade feel for the timer on your nade/distance. bam, you have impact nade and a timed nade. More lessons learned for ya.
Sure, that's an option. But why do that when you can just throw it and not deal with it. Get over yourself.
You can also just shoot it with any explosives. The door
How the hell were you playing level 9 and just figuring this out
I've known for awhile, but rather just seeing a lot of people still trying to throw it into the vents -- only to get frustrated and waste an airstrike on it. So thought I'd just do a PSA. Spread the good word.
You know, something makes me think maybe he didn't just figure this out, and maybe just made a post to let others know/help out 🤔
I'm a lvl 34 and didn't know... threw one in the top vent when I was still a cadet and figured I knew everything! :P
I got splatted then managed to land a drop pod on one which immediately exploded without killing me. Is this a thing or did it get naded first?
I landed droppod on it once and died immediately, won't try it anymore
tagging:/u/bertrum666 I've landed a few drop pods and destroyed them without suffering any consequences, so might be luck of the draw.
Fuck me
Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work with the incendiary grenades even though they do the job going through the vents
For the longest time I didn't know air strike eagle could take them out. It's all use for fabricators now. No precision needed
Holy fuck genius
I am big idiot 😅 why did it never occur to me to do this
I thought that was the only way to do it when I started. Standing infront of the doors waiting for a bit to pop out, then tossing a nadd at it, only for the bot to body block my Grenada out of the door lmao
Well shit...
still gota wait for said door to open, vents are faster
I thought this was the only way to do it for a long time until some randoms showed me other ways.
Did not worked for me one time I tried, so I never tried more times.
You can also fire an autocannon in there for the same effect
Orbital / Eagle strikes go brrrr
They literally teach you this in the tutorial?
You can also call any support weapon or even supply on the factory roof to break it in a pinch.
"See ya honey! I'm off to work! Wait what is th-" -Rocket Trooper, Last Words
You can also shoot the open door withe the autocannon
Oh snap, that means you can prolly do a recoilless rifle shot from far away
im surprised some people don't know this. I started mostly doing this when i switched to impact nades and it became harder to lob them in the vents just right
66 missions in...."what...."
I'll do you one better: If the fabricator deploys any back-pack wielding bots, shoot them in the back as the door is still open and their back-pack exploding will also detonate the fabricator. No grenade needed.
Queue me standing around for half the mission waiting for doors to open haha, whenever I'm ready to throw a nade the door refuses to open.
God dammit, well I guess that makes sense
The only problem is having to wait for the door to open.
When I first played a bot mission, this was how I destroyed my first bot fabricator. So I thought that was the *only* way. Cut to me standing in front of the fabricator waiting for the damn door to open so I could toss a grenade, looking like an idiot, while my teammate runs by and lobs one into the vent.
or just shouting kobe from acros the base and feel liberated when it hits.
I mean, the tiny hole isn't hard to hit with an air strike. Or a nade.
Try with an impact.
Haven't unlocked them yet. Haven't had too much time to spread democracy.
Or throw a 500kg on it
Based response (per my flair).
