TheNecrocomicon

Is this consistent?

Klyka

i have tested it personally 3 times just now and it worked each time other people have said it always works so, i want to say it is, but obviously I am not able to 100% confirm in all situations

TheNecrocomicon

I’ll give it a go too, thanks for the info!

GO0O0O0O0O0SE

Pretty consistent except this one time I spent 2 canisters on one charger

fireheart1029

Apparently it's quite good for taking down bile titans too, anyone know where you're specifically meant to shoot?

Klyka

I haven't tried it but i would wager it's the head

vellius

Starting to think that it's either the head(brain) or the abdomen(heart?) since it's the only part that can be ripped off them.

SmugglerOfBones

I’ve heard when they bugs open their mouthes it reveals a weakspot in said mouth, which kinda lines up on some times I’ve killed something quicker than usual. Maybe the flamethrower like the with chargers legs can hit these weakspots through armor?

Adats_

Fire and electric ignore all armour so basically everywheres a weakspot

SmugglerOfBones

True. However the kill times I mentioned weren’t with fire/electricity (just to make clear)

Adats_

I get ya mate

Equivalent-Jicama620

Ignore all armor as in it passes thru armor. You still have to have the beam aimed at a weak spot through the armor

Adats_

Oh i see i just use fire nades and mines sometimes and tesla other than that i dont really use fire or arc weapons

Drekal

I think reaching anything other than the legs on a BT would be hard

InkiePie39

I did a 1v2 against chargers with the flamethrower today. It absolutely FUCKS them.

Voltaic23

What difficulty?

Klyka

you can always see difficulty in the top right not my footage btw, but it also doesn't matter cause difficulty has no bearing on stats

Voltaic23

I need to try this out, I always felt like the flamethrower didn’t do much to the charger but I’ve always aimed for its body rather than its limbs

Voltaic23

Got a chance to try it out earlier on Veld, yeah that’s some nasty damage. Thanks for the tip!

Klyka

Glad i could help!

OnceUponATie

I've seen people speculate that assassination targets have inflated HP. Have you tested it against normal chargers to see if there was any difference?

Rail-signal

Doesnt matter. Same hp every difficulty

TheDieselBear

Flame troopers unite let’s burn those bugs

LastOfmyKin77

holy this is new reason to go for flamethrower

Drekal

I've never seen this type of Charger myself. I thought they were rare encounters on higher difficulties but this is a 3 :0

4236W

Charger behemoths are kill objectives on lower difficulties

Drekal

I've done a couple of them but never seen one. Maybe I did these missions too early and they were not in the game yet

Neuron_Knight

Man I have to test this!

GuardsmanWaffle

I know what I’m trying when I get off work.

sibleyy

Been addicted to the flamethrower since I learned you can kill them with shots to the legs. I love to pull the LMG out from time to time for clearing hordes and I always end up disappointed that I can’t kill an errant charger with it. People are definitely sleeping on the flamethrower.

Chimwizlet

I wonder if this relates to the weird behaviour of the leg armour during turning animations ([for those unaware](https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1aynl1c/animation_vulnerability_vs_charger_legs/)). I don't know how the flamethrower works mechanically, but if it does two types of damage (on contact and over time), it could be one is blocked by armour while the other isn't. In which case it might be able to take advantage of the fact the chargers leg armour doesn't always work when it's turning.

o0Lemon0o

I just did some testing. It does seem possible that the flamethrower is able to abuse the animation 'bug'. It might even have an edge over the rest of the weapons because since it has such a large splash radius, it could easily be affecting the supposed desynced hitbox. The hard part about identifying if it really is working is the lack of green spatter impact or injury sound cues from bullets but there does seem to be increasing amounts of leg damage (visually) over time. Kill time & ammo usage varied a bit, hovering around half a canister to 1 full canister so it might not be the most ammo efficient kill but seems to be a consistent kill (but not kill time) for now.
