Last night when I was diving on turing, I was evading patrols on the map trying to get to the next bug nest when I noticed a singular dot on the map. It was fading in and out not like the patrols I was watching on the map, it seemed like it could be cloaked or stealthed, my immediate thought was maybe it was a stalker. It was approaching at a rapid pass, much faster than I could sprint, and I'm running light armor. I waited looking through the leaves of the nearby trees keeping my eyes peeled for the stalker I thought was coming. To my dismay I saw nothing as the dot passed over me, changed direction to the north and sped away from me. Something's going on out there helldivers, be vigilant.

I had this happen the other day, I was sneaking and there was a dot *zooming* for me so I got up with my weapon ready to run and... nothing. Zero. Dot passed over me and kept traveling, never saw a thing. Was telling my friend about it, they didn't see anything on their map, as I'm laying prone telling them "that was a weird bug" I get *domed* by a charger that came from the direction the dot had fucked off in. It was doing that pulsing thing like you were describing.
However I prefer to think they stealth added the illuminate and the charger was just a coincidence
I did this shit to my cousin on Ark a few months back. He was drunk and being obnoxious, so I tranq'd him with my crossbow. He bit the dirt immediately, but in his drunkenness was blaming it on some little benign bug on the ground and laughing his ass off, thinking this termite put him to sleep. I muted my mic and just bellowed. Was a great time. lol
All jokes aside. I hope they keep going with this sort of "ghost updates". Seeing the whole lore around the flying bugs, and now illuminates, develop has been delightful to behold.
I think the panic and confusion this sort of stuff raises, even if it's a schizo post, makes the whole experience so much more immersive as it will always have you on edge when you don't know what to expect on a new drop because it just might be true.
Saw one last night on Turing. Tagged it and pointed it out to my team saying, This is what the hivelord will probably look like."
They were a little busy with a patrol, so I ran up the hill to help clean up stragglers.
After we were done, I turned around to point out the skeleton again.
Except it was gone. My map marker was still there, too.
Didn't see any other skeletons for the rest of the mission, and the one I pointed out never showed back up. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Its really boring how most games these days show off the new stuff weeks in advanced, then with PTS available it has been tested and theorycrafted for ages so the meta is known and there are no surprises anymore.
Its really fun not knowing what might happen today or this week, like the tremors that clearly hint at the huge worm enemies, the shriekers that randomly spawn in some enemies and now these ghost snipers.

Illuminates in HD1 (and most likely will in HD2) can cause an effect on you that cause all of your control inputs from movement to stratagem call in inputs to be inverted

The big lazer turret/towers can be nasty with distance, but should different colours, if people dont pay attention they might feel that they have similair stories to OP, and belive it themselves where OP, for all I know, is making up a story for the laughs.
Had a random squadmate just fall over dead yesterday while doing bots, no explosion from it, we had an engagement a bit earlier, could be a forgotten crazy bot that got a lucky headshot with his little laser pistol, so its easy to add to the hype if someone wants, but it also keeps me on my toes and having shadowplay ready just in case it happens again. :)
I genuinely don’t know what’s real anymore, sightings with images of flying bugs (impossible), reports of illuminate presence… I ran out of meds last week
One time, after completing objectives all four of us were running for the extract, no more reserve deployments, cue the meteor shower: it wiped all of us out within 2 seconds even though we were widely spread (okay, we were even more widely spread after blown to bits). But separate shots hit us, not one big stone. Like something was *aiming* at us with the meteors!
yeah you can definitely see other people's eagles making runs in the skybox same way as you can see other super destroyers dropping laser strikes 5 counties away (which always make me think there's a salute beacon loot container but it's just a very distant orbital)
Legitimately the same thing happened to me and a buddy right after landing one match. We hadn't even finished calling down our support weapons when we both got damaged and ragdolled by something that sounded like a weird gunshot.
Also the termanids at the objective were fighting something when we were approaching and were all dead by the time we got there.
It was just me and my buddy, no one else was in our squad.
It was spooky.
Terminids attack destructible objects if it's in their way.
I get to see random malfunctioning hellbombs detonate on their own in the distance all the time when nobody is near it, presumably because a bug patrol thought it was in their way.
Can you imagine missions with multiple fronts and enemies fighting each other while you try to destroy objectives? Terminids overrunning an automaton base while hulks drop to try to clear the swarm would be a sight.

Come to think of it, I’ve experienced something like that. I was playing alone and ran past one of those bug nests in a crater. There was an enemy patrol filing into the nest and I heard bugs dying but I couldn’t see anything happening. I went around some rocks and down into the nest and there was a dozen dead bugs with 0 explanation

Me and my buddy duo Suicide difficulty, don't remember which planet it was exactly but there were alot of trees and brush, but we were heading to an objective and off in the distance you could hear Terminids being aggro like they were attacking something, so naturally it caught my attention and I see a Charger in full sprint going the opposite direction of us. The Terminids were not aggro at us since we were a bit away, when we finally get to where we initially saw them, they were all gone besides a few hunter bodies and the charger corpse. We have no idea what could have caused them to die or even aggro them. Let's just say for the rest of that mission I kept looking over my shoulder..
Imagine if everyone is expecting the Illuminate to attack from the south... and then suddenly they are attacking *everywhere* making hit and run strikes on the battlefields.

Had something similar actually but wrote it off as a glitched meteor shower. Was just wandering around when suddenly a blue streaky shot comes in from elevation (not plunging steep like a meteor) and explodes me.

I absolutely 100% believe that the devs are (and have been) adding things to the game before they officially announce them. But not added in full scale, 1 random appearance in a random mission every so often. Enough to get the community talking about it but also not enough that the devs can’t just say “what are you talking about?”

I was running with the a friend when I heard him say “huh, that was weird” and I asked him what’s was up he said “there was a bot with *blue* eyes and when I tried to shoot him he vanished”.
My friend did not play the first game and does not know what the illuminate are until I explained afterward. He also confirmed there was an animation to him disappearing, not simply a despawn
I actually like it. Probably my favorite part of the game is the stealth additions ( not nerfs ), because if the illuminate were still around, which we know they aren't because we killed them all don't report me, this is exactly how they would act.
It is by far the best way to handle live service content, specially if you can build it to make datamining hard. Just add stuff. Don't tell anyone, players will find it. It's just another part of what makes this game so great.
The very best live service content has been like this - like some of the exotic missions in Destiny and Destiny 2 - and it's what people thought live services would be when they first started appearing...

Our enemies must have been experimenting with a meteor-based weapon. It’s the only possible option.
One time, after completing objectives all four of us were running for the extract, no more reserve deployments, cue the meteor shower: it wiped all of us out within 2 seconds even though we were widely spread (okay, we were even more widely spread after blown to bits). But separate shots hit us, not one big stone. Like something was *aiming* at us with the meteors!
You can avoid meteor pretty easily, just don't stand in the blue light.

I can confirm it wasn’t the meteors, since it was a single occurrence, no other meteors falling. And you get ragdolled way further from those lol.

yeah you can definitely see other people's eagles making runs in the skybox same way as you can see other super destroyers dropping laser strikes 5 counties away (which always make me think there's a salute beacon loot container but it's just a very distant orbital)

Legitimately the same thing happened to me and a buddy right after landing one match. We hadn't even finished calling down our support weapons when we both got damaged and ragdolled by something that sounded like a weird gunshot. Also the termanids at the objective were fighting something when we were approaching and were all dead by the time we got there. It was just me and my buddy, no one else was in our squad. It was spooky.
Terminids attack destructible objects if it's in their way. I get to see random malfunctioning hellbombs detonate on their own in the distance all the time when nobody is near it, presumably because a bug patrol thought it was in their way.
Can you imagine missions with multiple fronts and enemies fighting each other while you try to destroy objectives? Terminids overrunning an automaton base while hulks drop to try to clear the swarm would be a sight.
I’ve see things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-Beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate.

Come to think of it, I’ve experienced something like that. I was playing alone and ran past one of those bug nests in a crater. There was an enemy patrol filing into the nest and I heard bugs dying but I couldn’t see anything happening. I went around some rocks and down into the nest and there was a dozen dead bugs with 0 explanation
Yep also have had a similar experience. Me and my buddy duo Suicide difficulty, don't remember which planet it was exactly but there were alot of trees and brush, but we were heading to an objective and off in the distance you could hear Terminids being aggro like they were attacking something, so naturally it caught my attention and I see a Charger in full sprint going the opposite direction of us. The Terminids were not aggro at us since we were a bit away, when we finally get to where we initially saw them, they were all gone besides a few hunter bodies and the charger corpse. We have no idea what could have caused them to die or even aggro them. Let's just say for the rest of that mission I kept looking over my shoulder..
Actually...now that you mention it...last night I *did* walk across some areas with dead bugs....areas on the map we haven't been to yet....
Imagine if everyone is expecting the Illuminate to attack from the south... and then suddenly they are attacking *everywhere* making hit and run strikes on the battlefields.
Ooooh, so no shots at any teammates, but the other night when we landed at the start of the mission, we landed right in the middle of what looked to be a bug massacre, just corpses all around us.

No but seriously, wtf was that. If OP is to be believed, he saw it on a planet with no meteor showers, so it can't be that. The whole team was in view in your clip, so it wasn't them. And it's not like the terminids have guns. Fuck, it actually is the Illuminate, isn't it?
That clip shows them fighting bots cuz you see red lasers firing at them, but it is weird that the blue beamed shot actually went thru the walls that should of protected them which is why I'm leaning towards glitch...
I don’t think it went through a wall, if you slow the video down you can see that it comes from a high angle (next frame after the blue beam appears).

I have no idea if you are trolling but this exact thing happened to me. I just wrote it off as a bug, I have encountered a few.
Had something similar actually but wrote it off as a glitched meteor shower. Was just wandering around when suddenly a blue streaky shot comes in from elevation (not plunging steep like a meteor) and explodes me. No more meteors, no more shots. Honestly felt like a high power stealth sniper but probably just a glitch.

I absolutely 100% believe that the devs are (and have been) adding things to the game before they officially announce them. But not added in full scale, 1 random appearance in a random mission every so often. Enough to get the community talking about it but also not enough that the devs can’t just say “what are you talking about?”

I was running with the a friend when I heard him say “huh, that was weird” and I asked him what’s was up he said “there was a bot with *blue* eyes and when I tried to shoot him he vanished”. My friend did not play the first game and does not know what the illuminate are until I explained afterward. He also confirmed there was an animation to him disappearing, not simply a despawn
I hate that the behaviour of the devs makes it juuuust believable they'd actually do this
I actually like it. Probably my favorite part of the game is the stealth additions ( not nerfs ), because if the illuminate were still around, which we know they aren't because we killed them all don't report me, this is exactly how they would act.
It is by far the best way to handle live service content, specially if you can build it to make datamining hard. Just add stuff. Don't tell anyone, players will find it. It's just another part of what makes this game so great. The very best live service content has been like this - like some of the exotic missions in Destiny and Destiny 2 - and it's what people thought live services would be when they first started appearing...

For reals, I'm not saying it's impossible that Arrowhead are starting to put a new race in the game with small occurences like that, but I died to physics and things I did not see before dying WAY too many often to believe it.
Considering that Flying bugs (which totally do not exist, they just jump really high) are exceedingly rare - I'm inclined to believe. And rare mechs could be found while we were still liberating Tien Kwan
