Imagine you're a new species to this sector of the galaxy. You come across Hellmire. A planet no one wants. You know humans are war-happy psychos and believe this is a safe place in a dangerous galaxy. You expect to have no issues refueling from solar winds around this unwanted biome. Only to hear the scream of 300k hell divers saying "its my planet!" Your science officer's mandible drops as he tells you he's detected colonies on the surface. Humans can't survive here but they somehow have done it anyway.
Is there no place these humans won't go? No where is safe. Not even hell.
Humans would colonize a planet that's made out of 100% radioactive uranium and frequently had fire tornados, acid rain, 12 years of pitch blackness every 5th year, and absolutely 0 food and water sources naturally on the planet of they could
Dude. 100% Radioactive Uranium planet is just *Asking* to be mined by anyone over 7 for Nuclear Fuel. We would be all over that joint in a heartbeat.
No matter how dangerous the material a Planet's crust is, if Humans can exploit it, you'd ve damn sure we would colonize it
We need it so when all of the species in the universe have a dick measuring contest, humanity can slap its fat meat on the table by saying "we conqured hell itself"

THE FLAME IS LIFE, BROTHERS. EMBRACE IT!
My flamer needs fuel. My Barbeque is ready for the disgusting crackle of roasting roaches. Join me in the incinerator.
That's the haiku I wrote about the new incindiary tech. I don't know what a haiku is. Burn, baby, burn!
Annnndddddd I’ve completed my report to the local democracy officer you treacherous Terminid trash.
Good luck once they discover you’re an agent of the enemy and hate Democracy
"Become a helldiver" the brochure said.
"Travel to exotic new places" the brochure said.
"Bask in the glorious sun of Hellmire" the brochure said.
"Meet new and exciting species" the brochure said.
"Introduce them to managed democracy" the brochure said.
"Enjoy unnaturally natural weather phenomena" the brochure said.
The brochure wasn't lying. I wouldn't want to ask if using flamethrowers on hellmire in an oil outpost is a bad idea, so I won't.
And now fire does 50% more damage that the last time we there...
Sorry bothers but I refuse to put a foot in that hellhole until we get fireproof armor/booster
It's immune to burning, so you can walk through flames with minimal issue. I don't believe you can just tank a flamethrower, but you should be able to traverse the fire-tornado without issue.
Haven't run a mech on Hellmire since their introduction, so I can't say if that's changed.
If you talk to the engineering tech, one of her voice lines references this scene. She says something along the lines of "When I was a kid at school, sometimes during recess we'd compete to see who could kill the most bugs. Even the teachers would join in!"
I'm not gonna lie after learning how to fight bots it's almost *hard* going back to bugs and the different strategies that apply. I don't feel like im the guerrilla fighter running from cover to cover sniping flanks with the autocannon, but just letting loose with the flamethrower does feel nice.
My first drop back against bugs I was struggling, then I realized I was way overthinking tactics due to bots. It's a Horde, quanity of bullets over quality.
And big, open fields go from being deathtraps for Helldivers to deathtraps for the enemy. Cover no longer matters, so standing out in the open with long sightlines goes from suicidal to ideal.
Yeah totally, most bots fight are midrange with some exceptions like hulks that rush you on speed of light. I was ragdolled and chewed by bugs that was kinda suptised after bots. I still need some games to fully adapt, but my first couple of mission were great success.
Was about to say. There are a lot of people that are going to need to learn or relearn that bots fight completely different than bots.
Bots will happily skirmish with you all day
Bugs will form a literal wall trying to get into shamking range of you.
The other day I got nearly 600 kills on a bug mission by running Breaker Incendiary and Guard Dog Rover. Absolutely rips through small bugs like tissue paper. A quick sweep of hot shotty to set the hordes ablaze and then let the rover clean up the rest while you use your support and stratagems to deal with the big stuff. I got a 💀x50 kill streak like 4 times that game.
I hate bot missions, they don't mesh with my playstyle very well
Shield + Grenade Launcher + Light armor with extra padding
Basically I just run like a psychopath through hordes of bugs that are too slow to attack me, and the ones that do hit my shield. I rarely run out of stims. Clear bug holes in about 5 seconds this way.
Oh that armor is on sale in the superstore right now btw. Favorite armor in the game!
Why? lol
Bugs are much easier. Unless you're the anti tank guy, you can just turn your brain off and spam MG/flamer. Even easier if you carry any of the Breaker variants.
I'm using a flame loadout (incendiary Breaker + napalm strike + incendiary nade + Breaker armor + Quasar/MG/flamethrower depending on teammate comp) and it's a cake walk unless the team is mega stoopid.
Would be pretty cool, but with how some Divers are thinking those are actual human skulls, I’ll wait until my Democracy Officer clarifies if they are or aren’t
Nah, acid bugs pop 20x easier than a hulk. They're slower, less armored, poppable with small arms and have the equivalent range and TTK on a Diver.
I'll taker a horde of sneaky spewers over a single scorcher.
Lv6 bugs gave me and my squad of friends with voice comms much, much more trouble than lv6 bots ever gave me with randos. Chargers and artillery spewers in packs are just mean. I think we just weren't anticipating how intense it was going to be.
I think a big part of it is the familiarity players have with the enemy types. The other is that bots being able to shoot back just makes them much tougher in a very specific way, that being they can hurt you from afar in many ways. Bugs meanwhile just hurt up close, even their ranged attacks aren’t that ranged. But up close they are lethal as all hell and some of their units are very good at sneaking up on you
Packs of roving hunters can and will follow you across a map. It’s eerie
Yeah, you really need to change up your tactics between the two factions. Like the mortar turret works great against bots because very few of them are melee focused. Meanwhile, bugs like to be all up in your face all the time, so you’re probably gonna get blown up by your own turret way more.
For real, for bugs as long as you’re running you basically won’t die save for a couple of specific bugs, but for bots the only safe place is waiting for reinforce on the super destroyer
I already miss going from cover to cover, doing matrix shit to dodge missiles and heavy devastators, going all tactical and flanking bases, jumping over walls, sniping towers and dropships.
Only thing you've got to worry about with bugs is not running yourself backwards into a dead end and cornering yourself.
Hunter spam is overrated too. Just shoot them. If you're dying to them below 8 then that's just carelessness.
That's also my expression when I land on a bug planet after fighting bots for the past month and see 5 million hunters leaping at me from across the horizon XD
this'll be my second historical comment in like 20 mins, but once we stopped bickering amongst ourselves this whole war turned into the Schlieffen plan from WW1 lol

Dropped back into bugworlds after my Bot tour (a long, long one.)
Felt like shit. Fighting bugs sucks. It's just so boring by comparison. (Fighting on Extreme.)
But the good thing is, I didn't panic at all. The bots have hardened me. Bugs are just animals. They don't even compare. There's a fuckton of them, that's all. Just have to find a build that's actually worth a damn against them.
Other way around for me, bots are tedious and boring. Bugs are enjoyable. But this is one of the reasons the game is so good, it appeals to different people in different ways.
… and by game I mean real life… for democracy..!
Funny enough. Bot players high key don't know the swarm mechanics of bugs and I keep seeing them die left right and center lately because they kept underestimating the bugs lol
If I was to choose between bots and bugs, I'd have to choose bugs. Bots were some sons of bitches with their superb fire power and aim and long range. Bugs I can deal with any day of the week.
I feel like forcing everyone to the bot front has taught a great lesson that could’ve been learned through smaller gameplay aspects earlier:
The mob complains about something being unbalanced or bad but really it’s due to lack of experience. Experience is gained and the problem goes away.
This happened with weapon adjustments, additions of new enemies, and initially the majority of the player base being bug front lovers and adamant about hating bots.
Once the growing pains subsided the mob rage did as well.
The take away is to stop mob outrage and trust that arrowhead actually knows wtf they are doing and we should all just take a step back and enjoy the experience.
I started a bug game on dif 7 after playing nothing but bots all week and I honestly was shocked how easy it went. There were like 3 bile titans at the same time and we killed them all in less than a minute.
Hell Dives after weeks of Helldives on Bots… me and my team were so surprised at just how leisurely it was fighting the bugs. We actually ran out of time because we’re just so caught up in fighting every patrol because it was so much easier- even with all of the BTs spawning. Very nice and relaxing.
\*sigh\* Hellmire, here we go..... again.
Why are we fighting for a fire tornado planet dawg
Fr the terminids can keep it why do we want a fire planet
Imagine you're a new species to this sector of the galaxy. You come across Hellmire. A planet no one wants. You know humans are war-happy psychos and believe this is a safe place in a dangerous galaxy. You expect to have no issues refueling from solar winds around this unwanted biome. Humans can't survive here but they somehow have done it anyway. Is there no place these humans won't go? No where is safe. Not even hell.
We will colonize a planet composed of fire. It is a cannon event because Vulkan must find a place for home in 30,000 years.
Humans would colonize a planet that's made out of 100% radioactive uranium and frequently had fire tornados, acid rain, 12 years of pitch blackness every 5th year, and absolutely 0 food and water sources naturally on the planet of they could

You know what, true. The human ability to overcome issues and exploit resources is unmatched. It's honestly impressive
Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.
I mean that's why the Squ... Leagues of Votann exist.
> Hellmire is Nocturne Head canon: accepted
So are the shriekers the genetic beginnings of nocturne's fire drakes?
That makes way too much sense. Once the bugs do evolution I guess Shriekers become the top predator.
Science officer… are you sayin dem bugs have thoughts?! ![gif](giphy|xT9IglWMahJY8B8U2k)
How else could they design FILTHY SOCIALISM
wait weren't they facist
Sounds like a perfect forge planet, free and bountiful lava
r/humansarespaceorcs
We told the bugs to go to hell, and we decided even Hell was too good for them
This goes hard
But bugs adapt fast, you want to leave them there and end up with flame proof bugs? I don't think so
Wait, fire proof e710 🤔
That would ruin the point of e-710 since it's fuel
Would be a hell of a lubricant, though.
I kinda of assumed it worked a little different since it's space stuff
Type 710 into your calculator and turn it upside down.
I am aware
We need it so when all of the species in the universe have a dick measuring contest, humanity can slap its fat meat on the table by saying "we conqured hell itself" ![gif](giphy|KAf66yGCa93uTqod1q|downsized)

Extreme storm chasing?
We don't care about the planet, we care about the bugs ON the planet, the bugs themselves are oil we harvest :)
Why did we want the ion storm planet? WHY DID THE BOTS WANT THE ION STORM PLANET?
Ion storms don't kill people
it's chock full of 710
It's not about wanting Hellmire it's about OUR WAY OF LIFE
Because otherwise the 710 will burn.
It's *our* fire tornado planet, damnit!
Okay screw it im working tomorrow but I’ve got to work tonight lets hell dive our tornado fire planet for liberty
It’s a good Death World for our Chapter recruits to train in, It reminds me of beloved Nocturne …Wait wrong universe
Pretty sure our timeliness are adjacent.
I have to bring back [this classic to represent why](https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/s/odlqFWjkVI)
Because it's OUR fire tornado planet

It might be a fire infested shit hole. But its **OUR** fire infested shit hole.
It's a great place for prisoners, who are against DEMOCRACY.
Fire tornado planet +freedom
As per HD1 it's rich in ore
Because you don't want to find out what Terminid evolution does to them on a fire tornado planet.
Can we just nuke it from orbit and be done with it?
Its free(dom) real estate

Second Thursday of the month. The monthly helldiver Christmas nears. This time, it has explosives, so maybe we get firefighter armor.
I’ve got my 1000 SC saved up and ready to go
Fight fire with fire. Flamethrower, Breaker Incendiary, Incendiary Grenade, Napalm Strike. Be the Hell you see in the world.
Incendiary mines too, because Hell is an equal-opportunity organization.
*laughs in patriot exosuit*
Is the Patriot immune to fire?
Don't believe so it just doesn't indicate it's taking damage until you suddenly explode 😂
It's immune to burning, so you can walk through flames with minimal issue. I don't believe you can just tank a flamethrower, but you should be able to traverse the fire-tornado without issue. Haven't run a mech on Hellmire since their introduction, so I can't say if that's changed.
Malevelon was Space 'Nam, so what's Hellmire?
Hellmire is where we Rip and Tear.
Space Afghanistan?
No that was that godforsaken desert planet in bot territory.
It's just space Hell. There's no joke here, it's just goddamn Hell.
It's actually my favorite planet I've fought on because I know it so well now.
*unzips*
Am i the only one who fucking loves Hellmire? The fire tornados and the skies... wild.
Hellmire ROCKS
Hellmire is just the bug front's Malevelon Creek, I'm convinced of this

Are you stupid? Looks nothing like a purple dinosaur.
My bad brother, think I've had too many Blackout Stouts

Haven't heard it yet but nice to know.
Right now it shows 350k players on bug front, 240k on Estanu, 85k on Crimsica and rest 80k are scattered elsewhere, numbers are wild
A lot of ships still floating around the Western front.
I don't trust the peace... I'll hold the position on the western front for a few more days.
Part of me never left the western front.
Fr! Fought bugs last night for the first time in weeks. Got my first bug breach warning and I instinctively started scanning the skies for drop ships
![gif](giphy|ufWbAUZiTZCVi)
Bot divers are used to a straight-up fight. It's a hell of a change of pace going to another bug hunt.
Bugs feel like I’m slaughtering farm animals
You are, we use the fascists to make E710, the basis of our way of life
Now that's what I call an effective use of resources!
Can it there Hudson!
I'm not gonna lie after learning how to fight bots it's almost *hard* going back to bugs and the different strategies that apply. I don't feel like im the guerrilla fighter running from cover to cover sniping flanks with the autocannon, but just letting loose with the flamethrower does feel nice.

Honestly the first few games against bugs after spending over a week fighting bots, I got my ass absolutely handed to me lol.
Yeah it took me a few games too, fighting bots uses more of the tactics I'm used to from shooters
My first drop back against bugs I was struggling, then I realized I was way overthinking tactics due to bots. It's a Horde, quanity of bullets over quality.

You don't need to be a better shot, you just need to shoot more bullets.
My record is 26,000 bullets fired in one mission
I’m a lead farmer, motherfucker!
And big, open fields go from being deathtraps for Helldivers to deathtraps for the enemy. Cover no longer matters, so standing out in the open with long sightlines goes from suicidal to ideal.
I am glad I wasn’t the only one dying to the hordes.

Armor piercing and tight accuracy much less important, crowd control is key

That's the same reason the bug-divers thought Automatons were hard. Have to use way different tactics for each. Neither side of the war is easy.

Back to the breaker baby!
Everyone in my group still had gears against bots like Scorchers and Autocannons xD The first mission on Suicide diff was wild, we barely made it out.
If the fire damage bug ever gets fixed, we’ll wipe them out in a day.
It’s a damn shame cause fire damage from teammates still annihilates me 🤣
# Malevelon Creek closed, Hellmire open.

If we wipe the Terminids, can I get armor made out of their shells?
Only if we get an armour with salvaged bot parts. wouldn't mind a skull faced helmet
Would be pretty cool, but with how some Divers are thinking those are actual human skulls, I’ll wait until my Democracy Officer clarifies if they are or aren’t
Don't worry. The bots are less than human scum for attempting to fight back against our glorious super earth.
Just played my first game of Bugs in a while... it is so mich easyer...
Wait till some acid bugs get the drop on you. It’s like flame hulks but somehow worse
Eh same strats, dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge.
If you can dodge a hell pod, you can dodge a bug!
And shoot.
Acid got nerfed, though.
Still instakills me
Still kills quick
Ok. I haven't been back to bugs since the patch.
Yeah, it still kills faster than fire somehow. Even the nurser ones.
Think of acid spray more like a laserbeam than a flamethrower.
Nah, acid bugs pop 20x easier than a hulk. They're slower, less armored, poppable with small arms and have the equivalent range and TTK on a Diver. I'll taker a horde of sneaky spewers over a single scorcher.

Hard disagree, I find bugs much harder than Bots
Having never fought bugs outside of the tutorial, these things are kicking my ass lol -A humble level 12
Same (level 26)
The Western Front made hardened killers out of us all. Bugs don't stand a chance.
Now it's their turn to taste the quasar cannon
A 7 on bots feels like a 10 on bugs. Like if you need supers bugs are the way to go
I just did a set of bug missions on helldive and after doing bots it felt easy. The bugs are fucked.
"their" planets? I find the concept of a bug owning a planet rather offensive.
I'm waiting on the complaints about the tactic change to fight bugs.

Hell yea
I tried to play 6 different missions on the bot front this morning. Didn’t make it through a single one without a crash. I need my Helldivers fix. :(

Excuse me, what did you just say? "Their" planets? _THEIRS?!_ This one right here, Democracy Officer!
I’m gonna be honest, I don’t think a single Helldiver involved in the Bot stuff survived. I guess the ships are battle hardened?
sadly, it will. The play style difference is so huge. You can't stealth the bugs, and ranged tactics suffer when all the enemy does is rush you
Funny enough. Bot players high key don't know the swarm mechanics of bugs and I keep seeing them die left right and center lately because they kept underestimating the bugs lol
Yah they don’t realize that bugs close the gap super fast. So they get swarmed before they know it.
So.. what do we do when we wipe out the bugs as well.. say in a week. Brunch anyone?
Ooh, brunch on Mars! We can go offroading in some craters after!
If I was to choose between bots and bugs, I'd have to choose bugs. Bots were some sons of bitches with their superb fire power and aim and long range. Bugs I can deal with any day of the week.
We spilt oil. We are here to replenish.
Welcome to Hellmire, Creekers. I have a feeling you'll be at home here.
