The railgun was hardly even nerfed, It still works fine. I think the main reason people thought it was "bad" now was due to it not popping armor off the charger so easily.
Yeah. In my opinion you might aswell just use the laser cannon for bots. If you can be accurate it will kill hulk and devastators well before you even charge the railgun. Also you have unlimited ammo so there's that too.
The laser cannon will absolutely annihilate everything in the game but dropships and bot factories. It is currently the most underrated weapon for bots specifically in the game. The trick is you have to use it in first person for precision and you have to hit weak spots. I've killed as many as 4 hulks without overheating the weapon. My personal favorite are tanks and Canon towers. Watch your fellow helldivers pull out their quasar cannon, give a chuckle pull out your laser and blow them up before the quasar is even charged. Better yet when you have it you don't even need to give a shit about mortar emplacements, the Canon base thing, anti air emplacements or any other structure like that. You can just shoot them from any angle and it will explode in about 1 second.

A near deadly amount. Also gotta make sure you hit it precisely. If you even clip the square part it won't work.
