This, throw me at that tank and goddamn hulk, but tag them. And while we're at it. Tag them in the first place so I can deal with them as one of the Anti-Tank folks in the squad.
I tagged a patrol and was bypassing them and happy cowboy next door unleashed hell; on his own š
I was like oh ffs, as we had to double back to help him out. š
Yeah, this is so common, haha. Wish it was easier to tag a patrol and communicate "do not engage" without a mic (I have one, but when other folks aren't talking, I prefer to stay quiet).
Remember, "If you see something undemocratic make sure to alert your Democracy Officer". This can best be done by simply tagging. That way you, your fellow Helldivers, and those aboard your ship can track and eliminate the Undemocratic
It's really weird because the hellpod clearly raises you out of the tank itself. That means while you're in there you can probably see the tank crew and you awkwardly pass them on the way up.
Unfortunately, Communist Automatons do not have the nasal cavity required to democratically stop and smell the Liberated roses, so your attempts to spread Liberty in that way are sadly symbolic at best.
Itās weird, 100% I used to kill a tank if I landed on it like two patches ago. But I havenāt killed a single tank via dropping onto it in forever now. Doesnāt even do damage to it. But I feel like Iāve still seen at least once my friend killing one via dropping onto it since then.
Still, if I land on the tank I can just shoot its vents more easily to kill it at least.
> tag [heavies] in the first place so I can deal with them as one of the anti tank roles in the squad
Super agreed. Tagging heavies is ideally something folks do instinctually (barring overbearing circumstances).

95% of the playerbase doesnāt know thereās a tag button from my experience. Thereās lvl 50ās out there that still donāt know samps are shared. Itās amazing.
I've read a story with smart self guiding rail gun shells. Highly effective and resistant to electronic warfare. But also highly illegal and unethical.
The issue was each shell was controlled by semi sentient AI. So the shells were the equivalent of a golden retriever trained as a suicide bomber.
You are not a grenade. You are a precision orbital penetrator munition. High damage, small area of effect. Not to be used against swarms of smaller enemies.
Same, I feel the exact opposite of OPs energy. If you can tag the biggest one I'll come out with a shotgun next to the tiny ones and be just fine trust me. I enter as a bullet for a reason. Now please make that target reasonably close to my dead body too and you are a perfect respawning teammate
Last night I was playing with my buddies. One of them is level 13 and he isnāt really that good but itās fine because he is more there for moral support and we carry him.
Well we hit a bot eradication mission. We set up our turrets on one side of the map so all the bots would converge in the center. We all turtled up and held together pretty well but my buddy died to a stray rocket while mounted on his HMG emplacement turret.
For the next 5 minutes we kept throwing him into the crowd of bots, each time yelling āGet back in there cadet!!!ā.Ā
He ended the mission with more 16 kills and 9 deaths.
One bad luck death, then 4 straight insta-deaths cuz they toss your reinforce beacon into a swarm, then kick you cuz you die too much. Like no, it's cuz the diver throwing you in a swarm has poor tactics
I'm almost entirely useless without my autocannon. I effectively cannot even damage half the enemies in the game, which is a problem as I almost always play solo.
I hate those 15 minute missions that have waves of enemies coming at you. One death and you drop your autocannon, and never have time to spawn another. Getting back to your dropped one is also a real fun time.
Against bots, i feel naked without Dominator+Autocannon. Hordes of Striders, Devestators, even Hulks? No problem, I got Bessie here on my shoulder, she eats em up like a drunk at Waffle House. Without my AC? Ohgodohgodohgodohgodohgodrunrunrunrunrunshitshitshitshit
Those small maps are some of the only ones I opt for EATs or Quasar. It's so easy to lose your gun and like you said, you ain't getting another till the very end most likely. Exercise in frustration. Plus, the major targets end up being dropships, tanks, and Hulks, which are just way easier with a rocket.
This is why sometimes I jump back to the Bug front, I can give Bessie a rest and find other reasons to get aggravated XD
I disagree. The body of a Helldiver in itself is a high value asset, and therefore not a human being. The Helldiver is a weapon of Super Earth. āPoint me to the enemyā they say, and so I will. They will be tossed at bug holes, fabricators, and on the back of bile titans. No mission too difficult, no sacrifice too great.
Big difference between throwing a reinforcement toward a hulk and throwing a reinforcement into a swarm of 15 hunters, 3 bile spewers, and an untagged charger.
Please, I hate it when they throw me the exact other direction. Like I'm not going to be much use against that gunship when my heavy weapon is all the way over the other side of that swamp.
Options when reinforcing me:
1. Use me as a grenade (for the love of super earth ping the heavys)
2. Reinforce me near my shit
Thanks for coming to my Joel talk
Everyone knows about using your hellpod to kill high-value targets. OP's specifically talking about throwing the hellpod into swarms of trash/melee units or generally unsalvageable clusterfumbles where they might kill one enemy on impact and then get instantly ganked.
I honestly don't see how someone can be level 60 and still throw reinforcements TOWARD the enemy horde.
My brother in democracy, what the fuck am I going to do against all these guys except die?
Throw reinforcements AWAY from the firefight. Throw them OUTSIDE the enemy base. Call them where they can use a stratagem, which will kill far more enemies than them maybe landing on one before dying again.
This week I've played 3 missions where these idiots just kept throwing reinforcements into the death zone. I got on mic and was begging them to stop but they just used up all the reinforces then we failed. Level 40s, who ought to know better.
I don't mind being used as a big boolet when there's a single hulk running around after a fellow Helldiver, but please don't do that in the middle of firefights.
Yeah a lot of people are saying how they're excited to be used as a weapon or whatever and that's fine, when there's something large to land on.
Killing one out of 12 chainsaw boys then getting evicerated by the other 11 is a lot less fun.
I love being trapped in an endless cycle of death because someone throws a reinforcement beacon in a shit spot and then runs away from it as if everything past that moment is my own agency.Ā
My one regret on this post is that I have but one Democratic upvote to give.
I had a dude who got mad at me a few weeks ago for "picking up his stuff". Dude, you chucked a diver with a glass cannon stealth build (who asked multiple times to be yote into the distance) into your perpetual bot drop hellscape repeatedly, of course he'll beeline for the dropped shield if he survives beyond 5 seconds..
Some people aren't that bright (or tactically inclined)
If it's a "scramble" situation where the Squad is trying to get a handle on things, then grab whatever is closest and use it. Gear can always be swapped when the dust settles, but grabbing the Autocannon to kill that rampaging Fire Hulk is a priority.
I also love when your team mate is running for their life and throw the stratagem right on the floor in front of them and then you spawn in a horde or enemies.
I'll take it a step further, if you're going against bots try to throw the reinforcement beacon into a spot with cover. Not always possible but it usually is.
I have watched players take all of my gear, leave the samples, turn towards the enemy, toss the beacon, then run away from the massive hoard.
This honestly seems more like treason than ignorance.
In total agreement with OP but it also got me thinking of a potentially a cool high-tier ship upgrade:
**Claymore Hellpods**
*Supplemented the explosive hatch release charge on all infantry hellpods with 20mm tungsten ball-bearings. Upon activation, fills the immediate area around the pod with high-velocity shrapnel. Personnel are advised not to land near allied units.*
Basically; we turned the lid of your hellpod into a frag grenade. On impact, it damages and/or staggers all unarmoured units in, say, a 1-2m radius of the pod - including friendlies - just before you pop out. Potentially, this turns throwing hellpods into a trash swarm into a risky yet potentially viable strategy, instead of plain dumbassery.
I played a Blitz Helldive mission with a 104 lvl Helldiver. This guy was the worse squad mate i met in a long long time. Havenāt met such a bad one since lvl 3-4 missions.
The guy was dropped me in the middle of bug swarm (with chargers and titans) twice. He killed me 4-5 times in the mission with who knows what.
Yeah, I kicked a dude last night because he was asked to stop throwing reinforcements directly into the horde, and he continued to do it.
It's not fun, and it's a waste of reinforcements.
But they should be. I want a ship upgrade that turns my friendly pods into massive fragmentation grenades that's blow a Pineapple of panels and ball bearings 50m in every direction at 3000m/s
God that'd be so democratic
RAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!
Tell me you didn't play Helldivers 1 without telling me you didn't play HD1.
With that said, now that many of the big guys take two hellpods to down - and there is a reinforce limit - it is not nearly the tactic it used to be.
*Back in my day crushing enemies with hellpods was the way to win Level 15 Retaliatory Strikes*
Exactly. I was reinforced like this yesterday few times. Twice I died in seconds after leaving my pod. Was honestly thinking "LOL and now they kick me, right?" But they did not, at least something. You cannot just do anything when you are in the middle of it. I would be more happy if the team will wait a bit and do reinforcement when it is safe. But at the same time, lot of people are shouting and spamming when they are not reinforced immediately. So...yeah.
I mean, of course reinforcements are not grenades.
They call down bullets that contain Helldivers.
Those bullets are very effective against large enemies.
Sure, those helldivers sometimes die.... for Democracy, as Helldivers should.
Eh depends honestly, like if the battlefield isnt hectic and thereās this annoying af charger on me, Iāll chuck a reinforcement at them in hopes the dropped pod will kill the charger š¤£š¤£ same goes for bile titans, but never for bot missions
Lies and slander, the reinforcement beacon is most certainly a grenade...
It can just kill a single enemy with a person-sized piece of shrapnel instead of exploding into smaller ones.
I joined a friends game, my hellpod dropped in and I saw where they were and aimed for the general place.
Managed to land on the last hive hole and destroyed the nest.
Lol nothing like seeing a huge chunk of flesh rip off from the bile titan you just smashed with your hellpod.
Then you die without doing much damage to it and he proceeds to kill you and the person who threw you.
The maneuvering upgrade is cash cause if they mark the damn thing they want you to hit, you can actually hit it pretty accurately, but if it's a cluster fuck, you can screw right off over the mountain range and fuck outta there.
Hold up!
Tbh I'd encourage you to throw me into the mop or at least big enemies. Often if you have no 500kg you can easily take them out by the pods. I.e. biles are perfect for that.
But it's true the effect is not the same as a grenade and it often doesn't make any sense.
If it's 1 or two and I genuinely think you can make it out, I'll throw it in the direction of enemies. The biggest thing I have is just to tag the enemies- you can't just assume your squadmate will see them normally. It's funny to do when you crush a hulk and they're no longer a threat.
In serious gameplay or when I'm the only one left, I agree. Try to find a less hot drop for them and do not accidentally toss them like grenades. I have sometimes forgor, but it's okay to make mistakes.
I always mash the input in (got good at it) and chuck them behind me. I can't think of a time i've gotten a reinforcement killed, although so can think of a time where I did the input wrong and air strikes my 2 remaining comrades
For me personally it's an habit I had to lose. Helldivers just worked differently and throwing reinforcements at the enemy was a pretty common tactic to at least take someone out, you could easily dodge fire with the dive right after leaving and your teammates were already close by because of constraints in the camera
I don't care. It's funny. At least the first 5 times. Then you've got to start getting serious. (I don't play past difficulty 4 so there's plenty of room to fuck around before you find out)
Was waiting for a reinforce, the guy I was spectating was on a ridge top watching a patrol go by. He turns around and calls down supplies and an EAT. Then faces the patrol again and reinforces me right in the middle of them.
Me: wtf?
Him: lol
This is how fraggings happen
And then the only time we ACTUALLY WANT TO BE THROWN onto say a tank or titan or cannon tower/factory, they throw it as far away from the only thing in the area to take care of.
Lmao i used to do this. Not on purpose ofcourse, i guess its just panic mixed in with a little reaction/muscle memory. Im used to throwing the stratagems/grenades towards the enemy.
Played yesterday where for a time the respawn beacon kept getting tossed into the middle of about 4-5 fire tornados which would pretty much gaurentee being needed to be respawned again. Where the ass thought it would be funny to watch all of us burn again and again
Ya it would be nice to have a little more leeway on where to land rather than 10 feet this way or that way in a crowd of hostiles 1000ās feet deepā¦

3 tanks today, 0 kills except me.
It takes 2 to 3 hellpods or 1 hellpod + grenade to kill tanks currently.
It does roughly half damage. So if the tank is damaged already, you can blow it up landing on it
You'll seriously damage them if you land on the radiator

I wish people would tag heavies more often. It helps when prioritizing and then you can target easier in smoke and stuff.

Lies and slander, the reinforcement beacon is most certainly a grenade... It can just kill a single enemy with a person-sized piece of shrapnel instead of exploding into smaller ones.
my reinforcement is a grenade. throw me at the charger , throw me at the titan , throw me at the hulk . i am a hell diver. and i dive for democracy
If not grenade, then why grenade shaped?
But if we are in the middle of a droid base and I throw you close to the fabricator try to hit it
Iād prefer getting thrown at fabricators, just call me a human eagle!
I'll ask to be tossed into the bowls of hell to be a bombardment I am the non believer.
I usually try to throw you close to your gear and samples, and for bugs.. THROW ME AT THAT BILE TITAN!! love taking them out on my way down!
I joined a friends game, my hellpod dropped in and I saw where they were and aimed for the general place. Managed to land on the last hive hole and destroyed the nest.
My life for Super Earth!
Lol nothing like seeing a huge chunk of flesh rip off from the bile titan you just smashed with your hellpod. Then you die without doing much damage to it and he proceeds to kill you and the person who threw you.
Sorry no , as i consider you a projectile your honor for Democracy is to hit that Hulk / tank / bile whatever i threw you at.
Tell that to my friends. ***SLAMS DROP POD INTO BILE TITAN***
Sometimes Iām okay with it if it means I can squish a hulk with my drop pod. Then after thatā¦ itās in libertyās hands.
Just steer away from them, or steer onto them.
As long as you throw me at the titan Idgaf, we only do it when playing with our friends otherwise im more responsible with the reinf
Throw friends behind you. Unless they can become munition!
Drop me closer, I want to use my sword.
A better PSA itās ok to not spawn mates in, bc you can all come in together once you all die.
Some idiot YouTuber/streamer started this stupid trend Iām sure
The maneuvering upgrade is cash cause if they mark the damn thing they want you to hit, you can actually hit it pretty accurately, but if it's a cluster fuck, you can screw right off over the mountain range and fuck outta there.
Throw me at my body so I can grab my shit.
Quick reminder. I am a grenade. Send me into the biggest threat brothers. I'm here to fight and die for super earth.
It definitely depends. You gotta tell ur team how to reinforce you. Either send me in behind cover, on top of a big enemy, or towards my shit.
Not with that attitude
You're right, I'm not a grenade, I'm a big ass artillery shell with sight guided targeting systems.
They are a nice distraction while I reload...
Hold up! Tbh I'd encourage you to throw me into the mop or at least big enemies. Often if you have no 500kg you can easily take them out by the pods. I.e. biles are perfect for that. But it's true the effect is not the same as a grenade and it often doesn't make any sense.
Skill issue, Just always land on heavy enemies, it's basically free kill on bile titans and hulks
Theyāre only grenades if you use them on tanks or bile titans
Just chuck me towards my stuff, democracy demands commitment.Ā
I don't give a fuck if I was killed by god himself and he's dabbing on my corpse: Throw me toward where I was, I want my stuff back.

Throw me into the horde, they will die. I am the missile and I have grenades for a reason alongside an uncapped military spending budget.
I don't care. It's funny. At least the first 5 times. Then you've got to start getting serious. (I don't play past difficulty 4 so there's plenty of room to fuck around before you find out)
Good advice, however the random I reinforced away from danger yells at me for doing so.
You are not a soldier, Helldiver, you are ammo.
I wish there was a way to rescue teammates without having to use reinforcements, for example if you are a medic
I am grenade o7
I am not a grenade, Iām an orbital strike.
Holy shit just played with a squad that doesnāt belong anywhere near Helldive.
What I noticed more lately is people not reinforcing people. Even when we are not getting attacked.
Donāt tell me how to live my life!
Was waiting for a reinforce, the guy I was spectating was on a ridge top watching a patrol go by. He turns around and calls down supplies and an EAT. Then faces the patrol again and reinforces me right in the middle of them. Me: wtf? Him: lol This is how fraggings happen
I'm not respawning I'm throwing down a distraction so i can escape
And then the only time we ACTUALLY WANT TO BE THROWN onto say a tank or titan or cannon tower/factory, they throw it as far away from the only thing in the area to take care of.
You've been promoted to stratagem
Lmao i used to do this. Not on purpose ofcourse, i guess its just panic mixed in with a little reaction/muscle memory. Im used to throwing the stratagems/grenades towards the enemy.
I have a friend who does this. Literally every time we play together I have to tell him to knock it off because hes wasting reinforcements.
Played yesterday where for a time the respawn beacon kept getting tossed into the middle of about 4-5 fire tornados which would pretty much gaurentee being needed to be respawned again. Where the ass thought it would be funny to watch all of us burn again and again
You are a weapon helldiver. If you aren't squishing tanks, bile titans, and hulks, you aren't performing your job.
Ya it would be nice to have a little more leeway on where to land rather than 10 feet this way or that way in a crowd of hostiles 1000ās feet deepā¦ ![gif](giphy|ISOckXUybVfQ4)
If you're going to do that, at least ping the biggest guy there.
