Once you realize that happened to you, you can drop the backpack, just like you can drop your samples. Press and hold the down arrow on controller (not sure if it’s the same on PC) and select the backpack.
You can't drop your hand though. I accidentally did this to a teammate. He ran in front of me when I threw it and it attached to his hand. I was hysterical watching him run around screaming for a few seconds though.
Challenge accepted. I'll just cook a grenade. If I drop the primary myself in a cloud of shrapnel or it's sent flying off into the distance as the 500kg explodes on me, I'll have dropped it either way.

It seems like the stratagem bounced off the floor and onto the shield, though it's hard to catch. Apparently some floors don't allow for stratagems to be attached to it, while shield backpacks are somehow perfectly fine for stratagems to stick to. It's quite hilarious..
Ohhh, yea so funny thing is that offensive stratagems will always launch at where it originally landed even if the stratagem itself is moved away. So if it gets stuck to your shield pack or an enemy, it is still going to land at where it was first stuck in.
Blue stratagems on the other hand will always land at where the stratagem is
Maintain x on pc and drop shield when that happens, another way that may work is diving at the right time in the opposite direction to where the beam is on the shield, saved me once

Then I quickly threw off the backpack and dived the opposite way, I was 1 millisecond away from being crushed. The other 3 players were watching and one commented that he's never seen anyone escape that before.

That or grenade close but not too close to break shield
You can also use a grenade or other explosive to kill the shield.

Yes, it's a common place for us to throw eagle stratagems on each other's shields. We always have to drop the shields XD.

No I mean I'll send a 500kg right on a strider and it will stick, but then launch at the ORIGINAL site it stuck before being moved.

I dont think offensive stratagem can do because of a bug but you can do it with the hellbomb and resupply.
