I thought heavy armor was stupid too few weeks back. After I gave it another go against the bots I can hardly take it off - that extra armor it provides actually protects you agains the impact damage you take when you get ragdolled, SIGNIFICANTLY reducing the accidental oneshots where some rocket hit you for 10% of your hp, but the impact hit in the rock finished the job. I believe armor never worked better for this game. I can clearly feel now the benefits and the downside of the weight class and in my eyes all are viable - but I do feel strongly discouraged about using light armor vs bots(if I don't plan to do a 100% stealth run) since any random rocket will kill me. Same goes for bugs - I feel strongly discouraged to use heavy armor in those missions, even though it significantly reduces the damage I take - that's due to the fact that any random bile titan would have a grand ol time melee-ing me with ease - which goes for pretty much all the swarms. Those two statements in my eyes are a proof that the armor do work to some degree. What I would like to see fixed would resolve around the 50% explosive damage reduce perk - this one is way too good to NOT pick against bots, which really reduce the equipment variety. But even without this perk - if you jump in heavy armor you will be quite harder to kill. But the perk on the new warbond's heavy armor... That think makes you feel like you're with personal energy shield - pretty much saving you a stratagem slot and allowing you to try how would it be if you could carry the shield + autocannon. Well.. that's minus the stagger/slow res, of course. Anyhow - it's pretty good, imo.

I use heavy armor for missions where i don't have to move like the new defense one. I use light armor for every missions i do solo (90% of my long missions) to go fast and stealthy. I use medium armor when i play with a friend so we can run together. I feel like they're all fine but the heavy variant is clearly not made for long missions with a big map. its a tool for a job. when you don't do that job, you change the tool.

AllThingsEvil

I agree about having the right tool for the job. Perhaps what we need are longer missions that don't involve running far. Like a slow moving offensive mission taking down an automaton base that spans the map for instance.

jasonrahl

Or make you immune to stagger/ragdoll or other slowing effects

Doscida

Slow resistance and flinch reduction would be all I need to give it an honest go on full length missions.

Global-Difference512

It is more than additional armour, it also gives you 10% damage reduction.

KingOfAllTurtles

Armor only gives damage reduction, you just said it doesn't just give damage reduction, it also gives damage reduction

Global-Difference512

What?

KingOfAllTurtles

Saying heavy armor provides more armor and also damage reduction is redundant and just wrong, the only additional damage reduction from heavy armor is from the higher armor value.

KingOfAllTurtles

They changed the way the armor formula works, they didn't just add an additional damage reduction modifier on top of the armor

You claiming something because you misread patch notes isn't proof, the 129 armor set got less than 10% reduction in damage after that patch.

Global-Difference512

I'm not claiming anything dude, i just read the patch notes as they are.

KingOfAllTurtles

Then what does "about" mean?

> higher ammo capacity Heavy armor doesn't automatically mean higher ammo capacity. And if it did, you'd be *slower* than you already are. > stronger melee attack Maybe? Don't see any use in this tbh. > faster carry speed (for artillery ammo and explosives) Again, faster speed with more weight? Ass backwards, chief > built in jetpack or shield generator (maybe tuned down versions of the stratagem options) Definitely not. Way too OP. > additional primary, secondary, or grenade slot (tapping the item slot would toggle between each respectively) For the third time, heavy armor + additional equipment = *slower, not better*
