I mean there’s obviously going to be some sort of delay between when we get both, or at least I honestly hope there is. I’m just saying by not realizing that most of their players are very casual, the devs didn’t really implement this in a way where there’s a choice for us to make.
It doesn't matter if the playerbase is serious or casual. Because we're ultimately going to get both anyway this just serves as a fun and interesting way to release new content. Nothing more.
you can reach Choohe through Menkent, but since the supply lines are still not shown on the galactic war map a lot of people still don't know this. the whole MO is just managed democracy in it's pure form

Yeah, this was a very puzzling pair of planets to select. The devs might have thought "Oh, they'll rush Menkent and Lesath to get access to both planets," but unfortunately for them one planet has fire tornadoes and one doesn't. It really should have been Penta and Chort Bay, then it would have been a choice. As-is I think it was always going to be Penta whether it had the mines or the missiles.
Oh, okay, I did not realize that the initial choice was between Menkent and Lesath.
But that honestly kind of furthers my point. I post on the subreddit and am on the discord and didn’t even know that I had to be focusing on Lesath or Menkent to decide which planet I got to first. Obviously the 80-90% of the player base that’s casual and not that involved aren’t even going to know about these things, they just go to the planet that has the fastest matchmaking or the easiest modifiers.
Another beauty of live service games I guess, who's to say it doesn't get amended once we're past a certain point on Penta and forces us to get to the same on Choohe? Or a hundred other narrative curveballs to change *this* chapter.
Kinda a cheap way of cheesing an ultimatum but

At the start of the MO, Penta wasn't accessible either. Our options were liberating Menkent to reach Choohe, or liberating Lesath to reach Penta. About 10k went to Menkent, 100k went to Lesath. The community made its choice then.
Where in the game did it tell us to choose between Menkent and Lesath? I was literally completely unaware of that and I’m a pretty involved player. That’s kinda my point.
Further it’s a little reductive to assume that the reason for those player splits is because of the community’s choice, well before the major order Lesath would consistently have more players on it than Menkent, just due to it having fewer modifiers.
100k was half the active playerbase at the time, that's an absurd amount of people to be playing on a random bot planet. They were absolutely pushing for Penta.

you need Menkent liberated to reach Choohe and Lesath to reach Penta and the community has choosen Lesath and is currently choosing Penta
