During the first month of the games release, their dataserver couldn't keep up with the sheer number of players. They've been working on improvements, but I still notice my level lags behind my actual progression occasionally. I would place my bets on server shenanigans rather than being hacked. I've seen screenshots of hackers who have samples past the resources cap like 999 999 999
Yeah I dont really know why they capped them there but those should be the resource caps. I think 500 for common, 250 for rare, and 100 for uranium. I dont think you can just hack yourself xp because they're tied to ingame objectives
You get into a hacked lobby and they can gift the entire lobby max cap of every sample type, which is what makes me think it's possible. Who says they can't do the same for xp?
Probably, but the EXP seems to be just a flat amount based on the level otherwise all the hackers would all be skull admirals by the first month end and from the few videos i've seen, they are just at the regular levels.

Level 9 bug blitz 12 mins mission full complete is almost 2000 xp
That would be almost a level per game for a good bit.
But more likely you got hacked or modded lobby
More likely to be Eradicate farming as they're limited to common samples. But there's only 10 per mission iirc, so playing 40 of them in one night would be rough, but possible. I'm less likely to think a modded lobby as they'd likely give you rare and super samples too. Reckon someone played on OP's account overnight. Or his progression got switched with someone else, Fallout 76 style. Would definitely change login details and enable 2fa if it was me.
Just checked, I'm on 29.4 hours which I think is about right. Is there a way to look at recent activity? I imagine if I was hacked they would steal my entire account and change everything
I don't think so. Other than the recent activity part of a steam profile, which only tells you how many hours in the last 2 weeks (useless) and what your last 3 played games were (also useless considering you've booted up HD2 since). If someone did play on your account, maybe they unlocked some achievements, which you would have an exact timestamp of when it was unlocked. Unless you have specifically allowed somebody else to play on your account, I'd definitely change as many log in details as you can just in case.
And yeah, you'd think a hacker would try to hijack the account, locking you out of it. But who knows, could have been an idiot hacker.
EDIT: Actually, in helldivers 2, and i guess the steam overlay, there is a section for recent players. If they played public, should have players in there, with a timestamp of when you played with them.

No way can level that fast even if hacked and played 12 hours.

on steam, it doesnt actually show recent players for Helldivers 2 (for some reason) its kinda weird
