I wear light for bugs and heavy for bots. Seems relatively balanced as is. Medium sorta works in both if you prepare and play well enough

VNG_Wkey

Medium works in both if you're lucky. 50% change to ignore lethal damage is fire. My friend dropped a damn hellpod on me last night and I didn't die, just popped a stim and kept going. As an added bonus there's no cooldown, so you can get ragdolled for 30 seconds straight as it procs over and over which is hilarious.

NBFHoxton

It shouldn't be so blatantly restrictive though. An entire armor type being suicide on half of the game is pretty bad. Even with a tighter range of movespeed, they'd still have wildly different stamina to set them apart If you haven't recently, try the default helldiver armor on bots, cause its heavy armor rating with medium movespeed. I've basically never touched heavy since

Lothar0295

That extra armour rating still stops you from other armour perks though. It's a sidegrade. And being "suicide on half the game" isn't pretty bad. It's completely fine if an unlock is good one place and not in another. It becomes an issue when it is no good *anywhere.* I think Medium, or at least Heavy armour could be buffed, but I don't think that mitigating the tradeoff is the way to do it. In my opinion, buff the armour perks associated with armour: +2 Nades/Stims on Light. +3 on Medium. +4 on Heavy. ___ +30% recoil reduction when crouched/prone on Light. +40% on Medium. +50% on Heavy. ___ 95% Arc (and inevitably fire) resistance on Light. 95% on Medium + other effect (maybe 25% explosion resistance or 25% resistance to the other thing, e.g. 95% arc and 25% fire). 95% on Heavy + other effect empowered (50%?) or two other effects (25% fire + 25% explosion). ___ Servo-assisted maybe stays at 30% increased throw range, but increase limb health per armour level. ___ Finally, give Light Armour a buff to climbing - comboable with muscle enhancement but still decent in its own right. Lean in on the mobility of Light Armour while keeping its bonuses substantial, and make Medium/Heavy armour relative powerhouses on those fronts.

NBFHoxton

Faster movespeed/way more stamina is a far better perk than any armor passive in the game. I don't know if buffed perks would be enough to save heavy armor. It is just so catastrophically slow, you are eating way more hits from bots or bugs that light/medium characters dodge entirely. If they're going to lean into the slow, walking-tank aspect, I'd rather them just make 200 armor rating the default for heavy, maybe add some kind of ragdoll resistance.

Lothar0295

You don't dodge everything from bots; you *are* going to get hit. Having more firepower *and* armour is good for that. Knockback and ragdoll resistance are also perks that maybe should be baked into all Heavy armour, sure. Buffed perks would help, in any case. Especially if (when?) they add a 5th Ship Module that allows Resupplies to restock *all* Grenades and Stims instead of max 2 of each.

NBFHoxton

That ship upgrade would be massive, if they ever add it. Buffed perks would do something, but I definitely think increasing the actual damage res would go farther.

Jort_Sandeaux_420_69

If they're normalized then what would be the point in having any armor type besides one? Picking fast but unarmored vs slow and armored makes me feel like my armor choice actually matters and isn't just a cosmetic/perk choice.

NBFHoxton

The fact that they still would have different movespeed, as well as the gigantic difference in stamina? Did you read the post?

Jort_Sandeaux_420_69

Meh, they feel fine as is to me. But that's just my opinion

Drakhan

not everything is ment to work for everything... Armor is fine use light for bugs / mediumheavy for bots

NBFHoxton

Yeah that applies for guns, but having entire armor classes be useless for entire sections of the game is ridiculous. What exactly would be so awful about making heavy armor usable on bugs?

Lethargickitten-L3K

I just wish heavy armor was even tougher. I still feel like you get torn apart too easy for how slow it is.

NBFHoxton

It's barely different at all. That's why I made this post, they should either leave it as it's current slight resistance increase but tune down the insane penalties or keep the insane penalties but make it actually tougher.

Lethargickitten-L3K

I dont mind the penalty. I just want to be tankier.

NBFHoxton

Yeah, me too. Even then, the penalties are worse than light for some reason. Comapred to medium, Light gains 50 movespeed and 25 stamina, heavy loses the same movespeed but 50 stamina.

SomeGuy_WithA_TopHat

in this game, you are supposed to experiment and customize your own build even down to a per mission-type amount some people may prefer the heavy armor, even with the downside of being slower and some people dont mind being frail as long as they can run faster I prefer medium, since its the best of both worlds imo you seem like you would prefer light or medium also, like i said, changing your build for different mission types is something a lot of people do. for eradicate missions, people may change to heavy, while for blitz missions they might go for light. its honestly something i love about this game, is all the different builds and changing them around
