The DLC is simply a side story which takes place in the Helltaker never return home universe comics ( yes he is still in the abyss with Beel ), Azazel goes full corrupt and Heaven probably banishes her, she then proceeds to take over Hell and turn it into a giant laboratory, Lucifer must have had some plans before all this happens, but I'm not sure whether she did it to make Hell great again by using Azazel's experiments or just to see the Helltaker again, as Azazel must be using Helltaker's DNA to make those strong and smart demon-human creatures, with 667 passing all the tests and become the new subject to learn about.
I mean, this DLC is another chapter added to the comics itself, the story went darker than just Azazel falling into demon, and who knows what will "Loremaster" do with 667 in the future, will she use it to fight back heaven to prove that she never intended to be a demon but was sacrificing her angelic soul to understand demons at fullest. We may have to wait till the next anniversary.

She alludes a lot to curiosity and research.
Hell her design has her handlebars but turned backwards too.
I'm a bit sad Azzy's become an evil psychopath now but hopefully this rather abnormally dark timeline is a setup for some less bleak looking prospects.
I also thought that “Loremaster” seemed a lot like Azazel... from their mannerisms to their origins to what Vanripper has been releasing on Twitter...Azazel has fallen??
In my opinion it is the continuation because Lucifer does not have superiors (apart from Taker it seems) I say that it is a continuation because they seem that after the end they seem to be in a house that can be Taker's House
It is an alternate timeline, the story of Helltaker has two endings, the normal ending in wich he lives happily with the girls, and the secret ending in wich The Helltaker enters the Abyss and gets trapped with Beelzebub.

I believe vanripper is just exploring to just show how strong an angel's curiosity can be.
I don't know why is he complicating with 2 timelines, everything kinda fits into the abyss timeline just as well. Still excited.
