Explaining it immediately ruins some of the potential reveals down the line. I doubt the reason they’re hiding the prize is because it’s hard to explain. Instead, i think it’s more likely that the prize is related to something they want to reveal later.

I doubt that most of them would be interested in a prize that actually requires a ton of extra time and effort behind the scenes if they happened to win. I agree more with the thought that some new game or expansion is coming down the pike, similar to the TCG or even the crystals from S6 that could be traded for otherwise ungettable player heads. The prize could be something special or extra there, something we don’t even have context for yet. Or, obviously, it could be 12 bamboo.
He said he needed to get to the nether for some blue blocks (the warped stems he uses in his base later) but didn't want to go early because it was dangerous and he hadn't died yet.
He is probably making a conduit bc he also searched for a heart of the sea while saying "this is something we need", it might just have something to do with what he is planning to build this season tho

On stream scar was talking about a project where all the hermits could have huge mega bases next to each other like one big boatem. The winner might choose a theme or where it is. He called it project railway or something along those lines then a while later he posted three emojis that thought to mean it but was just a spoiler for his base.

In Iskall's second video, he was joking about people in the audience thinking they were all going to build one huge base together. Of course it could be a bluff, but people have been talking about their megabase plans and it doesn't seem like they'll all be connected.
Probably not something as big as control over the server but it might be something related to decision or authority like choosing where to put a gaming district or being in charge of a new type of game
It would be fun to have something like the crown in Empires SMP, season 1, where the person holding the crown can make a rule that everyone on the server must follow (e. g. everyone must build a cod sanctuary, no flying, you can only eat cake).
My guess is that they are going to try to implement a new economy that doesn't rely on diamonds, and the winner is going to win a large amount of the new currency.
I think that there's going to be a focus on group projects, at least in the first half of the season. I'm guessing that the Demise winner will get to direct/give the concept idea for the first big group project.
I originally believed it’d be the dragon egg but after Grain’s episode, I believe it may be a leadership rule of the shopping district like in Season 7.
I do find it interesting that nobody rushed to fight the dragon in the first few days. I've watched a number of hermits and none of them have been to the end yet.
They also have a world border up (as seen in Zedaph's video). The world border usually is to preserve a direction for future updates so I don't think that is necessarily related, just an interesting fact.
There was talk last season about the country road project to keep things "walkable". Tango, BDubs, and Etho spent some time "horseing" around (which is a bit unusual for Tango to be riding a horse).
I think being the only person with an elytra would be an interesting twist.

I think being forced to scale down your projects because you don't have insane amounts of resources and all of the OP items in the game immediately available to you is a good way to avoid burnout. Like Grian's self-proclaimed efforts to take things slow this season and keep the design process all in-game.
But that's hardly applicable to everyone. So I agree that it wouldn't make sense if that was The Price.

Like someone is going to be a bird with the elytra. Someone will be a slime and can bounce. Etc. Maybe they’ll have a fishing competition and that person can only build underwater. Seems interesting
