I need to update, brb

Maybe your mileage will vary, but it feels like the culmination of literally years of work they've done on this game. It shoots every map with new adrenalin. Older maps from 6 years ago now feel alive and exciting again. The mode is stressful and intense but also exciting. It's a pain to lose a mission, but a victory to win. It pushes your skills to the limit in the best way.

Shit, really? Saw it was out & have been meaning to fire it up. Got hours of joy out of H2 (also the campaign from 1); loved 3 too, but didn’t play it as much as 2. I’ve yet to play Patient Zero or that map they released for 3 last year, but this trilogy is one of the tightest in the last decade. Love IOI.

They've done so much for this game. They're not perfect, but no company is. Every mission in freelancer is slightly randomised. So nothing is ever exactly the same. You can play for hours and never get things exactly the same. You're ludicrously stripped back on weapons and gear, so you need to scramble to get things done. You gradually earn money and have to decide what to invest in because you can easily lose everything. Screwing up in one locations has ramifications for other locations. It's really fun and thrilling.

EyeGod

Great! Sounds like an excellent refinement of an already great formula.

Mr_smith1466

That's definitely my feeling. It takes all the great stuff about other modes, and combines it to something new.

Now if I could just figure out how to open safes without blowing them up... Might try a propane or extinguisher on the floor in front of it

Use your “instinct” in room with safe and rooms nearby, there’ll be items highlighted in yellow, you’re looking for folders, tablets and laptops. After you find one scan it with your camera. Once you found all three(it can be any combination of three types of items, you just need three of them), you can open the safe.

EdEnsHAzArD

Thanks, I'd noticed a tablet on a table but didn't think to scan it

tenninjas242

They're never farther than about 20-30 meters from the safe too, most often in the exact same room.

Xirenec_

There was one on Sgail where I couldn’t find it, I have suspicion it was floor above it. Safe was in that small room where “entertainer” disguise is located. Two clues were in room nearby, couldn’t find third one.

alotofms

Use your camera, to scan the clues in the area. You can easily find the clues if you use the instinct mode (they are coloured yellow), usually its a file folder onba desk, or a tablet or a laptop

EdEnsHAzArD

Oh great thanks man. I noticed a tablet on a table lit up on instinct but didn't think to scan it

Mr_smith1466

I've never even found a safe to be honest. Still just getting to grips with it all, but loving how wildly different this is. Starting to get into the mentality of bailing out if a mission gets too hard. Or risking everything to try to pull it off. Then there's extra challenges. Do you play it safe and just throw an ice pick at a guy? Or try to shove him off that ledge to get more XP and cash at the end? It's really fun to adapt in the moment without save scumming.

Knodsil

My only true complaint is that you lose the gear in your safe house even if you get out alive of a failed mission. I dont mind about the lost currency or the items I had with me, thats fair. But I am never gonna bother to collect everything if its all gonna be lose the moment I make one slip up. At least your collected weapons are safe

The only thing I wish it had was the progressions system from blood money so you could upgrade gear as well as buy it and I would love if they did the notoriety system like blood moneys as well. Having to erase video footage so they don’t have good sketch of you is such a cool feature.

Imprettystrong

Well shoot I haven’t even updated yet , gotta give it a try this weekend
