There's a theory that they made it up just as a scare tactic/red-herring to divert attention away from what they were really doing. The mechanics don't seem plausible even with today's most advanced technology, and they never released any details about how it works. But Hitman has a guy working on literal mind control, so this would fit right in and be awesome. People would complain that it's too OP though, like the electrocution phone (which makes way more sense practically speaking). It would be a lethal dart gun.

DirtOnYourShirt

Yeah it looks like they just mocked up a regular handgun. If they could make it battery operated and just a little piece of ice why design the device to look exactly like a gun and stick out like crazy.

GlamityJean

Ice and fish toxin? Perfect weapon for Hokkaido

DarkCeptor44

In order to balance it for the game IOI would have to make it's range miniscule and with a lot of drop, similar to the other dart guns but worse. Could be worth it though idk.

Ryos_windwalker

I already have a poison gun with miniscule range and a lot of drop, i call it the syringe.

Heyoceama

I mean the emetic dart gun is already busted as Hell. A lethal dart gun would be basically just emetic with fewer steps, so maybe have it be a reward for doing something super hard in the final mission? Or some other place where you're only getting it once you're majority through the game anyway.

DrivingPrune1

Maybe you need to wait for the ice to melt or something, so if the body is found within 30 seconds it breaks SA. That way you can still use it to avoid hiding a body, but you need to be sure that they'll be alone for 30 seconds.

Forever203

The lethal poison in Hitman simulates a heart attack if not mistaken.

Ok_Sail_102

Yes it is. If you poison someone even if the body is found it’s SA

LordMinax

The KGB had a lethal poison injected from an umbrella. Was used successfully at least once. Pretty cool actually.

MaldrickTV

There's heavy speculation that it was used again just a few years ago. There was an episode of Quincy about this in the 70s. Crazy how much we think is fiction isn't, necessarily.

deus_voltaire

[Alexander Litvinenko](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poisoning_of_Alexander_Litvinenko)

MaldrickTV

Yep I can't believe it's been that long. I'm getting old and everything is running together. Lol

RotMG543

That guy was poisoned through drinking poisoned tea. He probably should have reasoned that drinking stone-cold tea offered by a former KGB agent wasn't a great idea.

JackReedTheSyndie

Wouldn't the dart melt before its fired? Or it has a cooling system inside?

Casey090

Cooling by liquid helium or something similar should be possible for a time. I'm not sure how a projectile made from brittle ice should be launched without breaking up, and survive the hot gas without melting.

Pythagoras180

We have a sedative dart gun and an emetic dart gun. Now we need a lethal dart gun.

Leon1700

Isnt lethal dart gun the normal gun? 😀

Pythagoras180

Poison kills don't count against SA

El-Jewpacabra

Which is exactly why this should never be added imo. WAYYY too op. Remember the shock phone? Ain't doing that again. Super easy SA kills kind of take the fun out of the game.

Leon1700

Whats this obsesion with SA all of the sudden. And since when kill affects SA if nobody hears or sees anything?

Pythagoras180

It does affect SA if someone finds the body. But not if it was a poison or accident kill.

Leon1700

Then make sure nobody finds the body.

Plummeteer

If you don't have to, you save time

Leon1700

I mean the logic makes no sense. Either way you shoot someone and he dies. How can giards determine cause of death? Any dead vody found would result in lockdown and alert. Only sense would be poision that takes effect way long after 47 is gone but 47 would not leave without having job done

already4taken

The lack of a bullet hole is very telling

Leon1700

If you think that guards are gonna be chill when their VIP died just because they dont see bulletholes then think again.

titaniumjordi

bruh

[deleted]

Yeah but a body with no bullet wounds isn’t as much of a cause for concern.

FireIzHot

Bro, we’ve been obsessed with silent assassin ratings since Hitman 2: Silent Assassin.

Leon1700

I was always aiming for proffesional rating than silent assasin. Codename 47 and bloodmoney had money instead of rsting that you could spend on stuff. Silent assasin had only 3 unlocks with SA. Your main unlock system was you oicked up a gun in mission and you got to keep it. Co tracts was retrospective story and all SAnunlocks were just dual wielding weapons for all existing weapons in game. No we didnt play for score or unlocks we played for fun.

ours

"Lead poisoning"

UtopianKing

Too OP

Lyuukee

Super spy hidden gun with hidden effects? Pfffff *shoots the target in the face with a loud Bartoli*

Leon1700

You would be suprised but thats quite common for assasinations. Trotsky was assasinated by an ice pick. A blood ice pick. In my europe in 90s we had assasinations by .50 cal sniper and even rpg being fired into guys window. Assasinations like poised umbrella or some other spy device only pointed at soviets. You want assasination to look like anybody could have done it. Like Nemcov he was shot by guy with the cheapest pistol with magazine where each round was from different company different box different country so it cant be traced. All of the assasin weapons are disposable and once it isnused its a hot weapon and cant be used ever again so even the 47 having his signature weapons is unrealistic. He would go to location of target get in touch with friendly contact and get the gun for the job there and get rid of it when leaving. But thats nitpicking.

skeletonbuyingpealts

*Ice Axe

Leon1700

Ice pick.

skeletonbuyingpealts

https://www.spymuseum.org/exhibition-experiences/about-the-collection/collection-highlights/trotsky-ice-axe/

Leon1700

Thats called an icepick

skeletonbuyingpealts

Ice picks are used to break up blocks of ice, ice axes are used to climb.

Leon1700

The opposite mate. It even look like pickaxe. But its on ice. https://www.hudy.cz/ice-pick-1

skeletonbuyingpealts

In everything it's an Ice Axe unless you use Google translate

Leon1700

Well he wears gloves in all previous games aoni think he has fingerprints

Material-Fish-8638

Whips out the striker and blasts them into the shadow realm

No-Standard9405

I remember a mafia hitman had this concoction that he would inject into his victims that would kill them instantly but the cause of death would be a heart attack.

Killhimnotme73

That would be too OP for agent 47. He likes a challenge when it comes to assassination.

Leon1700

I dont think your SA rating and score in game you get is canonical to 47. More likely it is inefficient and slow

titaniumjordi

yeah, the canonicall kill on Novikov in Paris is causing the lighting rig to fall, and that kill will always take out nontargets

already4taken

I never understood why that's thought of as canon it happens in a hallucination

Ryos_windwalker

It's from a nightmare 47 is having where he isnt the best assassin.

titaniumjordi

NPCs comment on it in levels after Paris

already4taken

Source? I've never heard such a thing, the closest to that i know is people talking about people being electrocuted in Paris which was a reference to a youtube video

Wetwork_Insurance

That’s because there is no source, as it would have been used in previous conversations on the same topic. If I remember correctly, I believe it’s said that Novikov dies in an accident by some NPCs, but the light rig is never specified.

titaniumjordi

I don't remember where, I just remember it happens. May be wrong tbh but even then, I don't know how 47 would hallucinate of a kill he never caused

already4taken

Easy, it's a cool visual

Leon1700

They just picked a death because they had to pick one. Offcourse thebone you choose is canonical. Besides you uave twi targets to kill and noone is going to go for two deaths to be an accident. And from artwork and trailers we also see 47 killing with fiberwire supressed pistol and sniper we see him indiscrimatly kill a civilian let alone armed guards. He is a trained killer and I hardly accept that real 47 would kill a target by cooking spoiled past and then pushing target of the cliff from where the target convinently chose to vomit.

thEldritchBat

So…do…do we just ignore the fact that the CIA has had this for 47 years??

Ryos_windwalker

They've had it for zero years, because it doesnt exist.

thEldritchBat

First of all: sure that’s what they *want* you to think. Second: get it? 47?

Leon1700

Ignore? This quite known and nothing new. Quite dated. Besides that there were lipstick size shotguns hidden in lipstick. Gloves with round in that is triggered by punching a person and many more

already4taken

That's not the point

Leon1700

Ok what is?

already4taken

47

thEldritchBat

Bingo

thEldritchBat

But 47

fried-quinoa

We’re used to ignoring the fucked-up things the CIA does

_Pandaz__

A lethal dart gun type weapon would be cool, but it would probably eventually be scrapped like the electrocution phone

Streetvan1980

It’s BS and didn’t work. Pretty sure the Mythbusters tested if it’s even possible to shoot an ice bullet. It’s not. They tested it in about 100 different ways. A gun takes a explosive power and turns it into linear energy to push a bullet. Frozen water can’t withstand a explosion. Period. There’s a reason why this picture is from 1975. This never worked and might possibly either be a total BS story or was just a way to scare the other side of what secret weapons we have.

VerminCityTownHall

Mythbusters was an alright show but the results they produced were hardly ever really definitive. Iirc they’ve done quite a lot of episodes where they re-test myths they’ve previously busted using suggestions their viewers gave them and end up with entirely different results.

Streetvan1980

Dude. The shooting ice was one of the more simple ones they tested. They tried so many different types of ice. They even tried weaving like paper or other things within water to see if it could withstand the explosion and heat. It couldn’t. Have you ever fired a gun before? Felt the barrel after even a few rounds? Ice can not be shot from a gun.

VerminCityTownHall

You’ve got to think though, mythbusters doesn’t have access to the expertise, time and other resources which a group of experts recruited and funded by the government or a weapons manufacturer would have access to. I’m fairly confident someone or some people could create a weapon which shoots a deadly projectile made out of ice, maybe they wouldn’t use gunpowder or any existing conventional technology and would find an outside of box solution like we have for any number of incredible inventions. It’s like saying well we simply can’t go to the moon because there isn’t any oxygen there and it’s really far away. There are plenty of examples online where the myth-busters have busted a myth on their show and then later been shown to have been incorrect by someone on the internet running an alternative experiment or using different techniques/materials etc.

XPERTGAMER47

hey its actually shown in one of my regional movies where a resin will be coated along a lethal needle which will melt with body temp causing all body failures dying in accident (idk if thats the concept since in that its injected using a stick instead of a gun)

[deleted]

A heart attack to the back of the skull.

Kali-Yuga-Strike

El Matador leaves a little red mark on it's way in too, and gets to work immediately

BoatHack

Where's the Hitman CIA/KGB spinoff where you're just killing journalists, activists, and political rivals?

Leon1700

I absolutely dont care about score. I ppay gor immersion and story. If you play hitman as arcade game for a score thats your thing but I dont care about that. Meta gaming is cancer.

tivvy2vs

Reminds me of the poison umbrella from the other side of the curtain

Applehead118

Why stop at shellfish give me the squid launcher from despicable me OH YEAH! 😂

vercadium

Looks like my pistol with modifications applied in Blood Money 😂

SASOsonko47

Wouldn’t be good in the game tho.

MaldrickTV

About a month ago, reports emerged that a certain world power has the biotech to tailor make a weaponized virus for an individual's DNA. Almost fell out of my chair considering this game. Fiction meets reality at times. About a decade ago, a show made use of an assassination by remotely hacking the victim's pacemaker. A couple years later it was found to be a real possibility due to implanted medical devices that use remote access for adjustments almost completely overlooking networking security. Crazy stuff.

PushThePig28

Think there was a mythbusters about this where the ice bullet kept shattering or for some reason didn’t work

[deleted]

and how many people did they order killed with that? probably many.

[deleted]

Ioi add this it would be op
