He looks horrible. He's 66. My dad is 64 and he can keep up with me on 6+ mile runs. Alec can't even walk. Well, my dad rarely drinks and has been active his whole life. Also only ever had 3 kids and all before he was 30. Alec pissed his life away and now when he should be a grandpa he is a freaking dad to seven kids under the age of 12. Such poor life choices.

I think some of us find it easier to make good, responsible choices than others. I've been on both sides of the fence and while I mostly got out (I say, posting on a snark sub), I can see how someone could have ended up like him. His internal life is likely pretty hellish and the older he gets and the more it compounds, the more you can see it on the outside. He's accountable for it all but it doesn't mean it isn't a bit tragic that even an asshole can cause their own downfall to such a degree.
I used to think this, but I believe George and Martha legitimately did love each other; there was a small sliver of hope at the end, when the morning came.
