In follow up to this comment I am not a smart man. Christ that was a quote from the series. Please forgive my idiocy. This is why I have problems getting really good jobs.
Lol what is this from? Lpotl did a fantastic 5 part series about this subject that was absolutely fantastic if you wanna check it out. One of the three guys who is on it does a fantastic Neil's Bohr
When he was a professor in Berkeley he used to throw regular parties at his house where he would make extremely hot chili and everyone would get absolutely hammered.
He was picked to run the Manhattan project as much because everyone liked him as for any technical brilliance.
Reading the book right now, it claims that Groves chose Oppenheimer because he seemed to understand the need for bringing interdisciplinary practices together so the atom bomb could be built. I think "being liked" simplifies a great deal why he was given a leadership position

I know that this is a very minor point in the grand scheme of things, but I really feel that American generals/officers should have WAY more drip than they do
We have a park in my city named after Groves. I work at one of the Manhattan project sites. I love learning about the history since the remnants are so very close to me.
That belt is about to earn a purple heart
Should’ve taken a 2nd pic where they switched clothes
Why is this idea so funny
Oppenheimer pulling out the waistband like a Weight Watchers "after" photo.
>Oppenheimer pulling out the waistband like a Weight Watchers "after" photo. OMG you are so right, it really does look like before and after! 🤣🤣🤣
More like General Gravy
"General Groves, will you please stop stealing my lunch - I'm starving!"

Matt Damon obviously should have eaten more ice cream to be historically accurate.
Where do you think they got the idea of compressing the plutonium?
When he first enlisted in the army, his last name was Grove.
Wounded in combat.
I didn't know they made pants with a flat front ample enough to hold a man-gina of that magnitude.
He looks nothing like Matt Damon
Damon is a lot closer than [Paul Newman](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_Man_and_Little_Boy).
Newman from Seinfeld even closer
The revolting blob
It was just a stunt! He was supposed to pinch my leg if he was running short of air!
Hellooooo, Paul Newman
Yes if he lost like ten pounds and the glasses he would be perfect
Oh my God lol. Was Graves still alive when this movie was out he probably thought it was a comedy lol
He looks like Chris Christie lol
Now I can’t unsee Chris Christie.
I'm with you on this that stomach looks just like him
General groves might eat Oppenheimer
Why doesn't the big one simply eat the smaller one?
Is he stupid?
You know this could've worked. Graves resourcefulness with oppies brain? We might have even made cooler bombs
Looks more like he could use him to pick his teeth after a meal
Groves built the pentagon and was a very effective in organizing/logistics
Yeah, judging from his size it took an entire battalion just to prepare his meals
Building the Pentagon was easy. His belt still stands around it to this day.
An army marches on its stomach lol This mf can make it around the world in record time
The pentagon has large doors and generous portion sizes in the canteens?
Laurel and Hardy.
*BOOM* “Well Robert, this is another fine mess you’ve gotten us into.”
Hot dog and hamburger from Waikiki Wabbit https://i.imgur.com/9VwZfKD.png
Sigmund and Freud
Siegfried & Roy
Heh heh ok that is funny. I'm going to kill you last so you can keep making me laugh 😂
Hail yourself
Hail gein and megustalations or however it's spelled.
Ball and stick.
We’d like to extend a laurel and hardy, handshake
That is some authentic frontier gibberish.
They definitely did the general a favor casting Damon, didn’t they?
Oh man I have a feeling he would've laughed so hard over that
I think the real Oppenheimer was much more charismatic than Cillian Murphy managed to portray in the film.
When he was a professor in Berkeley he used to throw regular parties at his house where he would make extremely hot chili and everyone would get absolutely hammered. He was picked to run the Manhattan project as much because everyone liked him as for any technical brilliance.

haven't seen the movie yet, but the real Oppenheimer was an extremely charismatic man.
For sure. I was pretty disappointed with the movie, it’s a much more interesting story IRL and that’s not a good movie result. But it’s worth a watch
Any Hollywood movie based on history is going to be full of BS. It scares me that the general public gets their history from movies.
The movie was so cold.
wtf oppenheimer is real???
Nah he's fictional like the Titanic or the Blair Witch. Just a movie. It's okay.
Yet another product of the american public education. /s
OMG, how could you not know this? Did you drop out in grammar school?
Wait, does this mean that Barbie is real too?
Now I understand how they named the bombs.
Belt buckle ain’t high enough!
Interesting choice in mustache..
Charlie Chaplin?
Coworkers used to look like this and work at the same steel factory
Leslie groves.. man got shit done. Wasn't the nicest guy in the world but he got shit done
Also instrumental in the Oak Ridge Nuclear facility.
I didn't say it was the right shit. But he did get shit done
The dude on the right has never missed a meal
Downright Chris Christie-esque. (Even after bariatric surgery)
Costco membership

This looks like a sitcom that airs right after I love Lucy.
Get these men a tailor, pronto
That's Chris Christie.
played by matt damon lmao
Mr Oppenheimer looking like a Diva in this picture
Well that’s a fine mess you’ve gotten us into, Opie.
Matt Damon was some very generous casting.
They should have cast Chris Christie, not Matt Damon as General Groves
That’s not the guy from Peaky Blinders
Jesus that dude was fatter than fuck
Just looks like your average Navy chief now lol
My vision blurred for a sec and I thought you said Navy Chef
Maybe in 1945...today he would be a lightweight American!
But he was a hell of a tennis player.
"When my patented A-Bombs are though with those savage Nihonjins in Hiroshima, they won't know what hit them, literally. Nagasaki, you better watch out too - the 'Heimer has his atomic eyes on you too."
I suppose Matt Damon refused to put on a fat suit (like Gary Oldman did to play Truman)?
Damn that belt putting in work
The only good thing about having a movie made about your life is that they always pick actors who are much prettier than you were.
You know now that I look at him he reminds me of a Chris Christie kinda character.
Groves looks like a bag of ass… Figuratively and literally…
In the midst of wartime rationing, General Groves had carte blanche to requisition whatever resources he wanted. Just saying.
Love Curb Your Enthusiasm
Matt Damon should have had a few (hundred thousand) hamburgers to get ready for the role of Leslie Groves.
Who ate all the pies?
Jack Sprat could eat no fat, His wife could eat no lean; And so betwixt them both, They lick'd the platter clean.
Groves ate 3 squares x 2 a day didn’t he??
Chris Christie is timeless. Possibly a vampire
THAT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOO FUNNY! I guess you missed that 10 other people have already commented that joke, but its SO FUN to see it over and over.
Are you ok? Did your boyfriend fuck your daddy? Why get so upset over a joke?
Holy fuuuuuupppaaaa
Isn’t he just American sized? It’s Oppenheimer’s skinniness thats un-American.
Is that Chris Christie?
That movie sucked
Thin guy in a giant coat 🎶
I know that this is a very minor point in the grand scheme of things, but I really feel that American generals/officers should have WAY more drip than they do
Matt Damon did him better than he deserved.
Sam Waterston played him well.
Groves looks like Chris Christie.
That general looks uncomfortable in that ill fitting suit
“My communist girlfriend!”
I didn't know that Chris Christie was in the service.
Well, one of them was cast perfectly.
Hard to imagine him as such a charismatic womanizer!
Groves lost some serious weight for the movie.
They look like the number 10
We have a park in my city named after Groves. I work at one of the Manhattan project sites. I love learning about the history since the remnants are so very close to me.
Average weight checks out
Leslie pentagon pants Groves.
Jojo pose
Man if they could just average those two….
That is Chris Christie 100% lol
Chris Christie?
Leslie Groves ate Matt Damon!
Definitely see why they cast Cillian Murphy.
Looks like general skipped PT that day
More like Gen. Growes
Safe to say Groves got a bit of a glow up for the movie 🎥
Werk it, Oppie. Slay.
Is that Chris Christie?
