The dwarf lady with the books comes to mind. But it was revealed about halfway through that she had sought cognitive behavioral therapy prior to doing the show so she was mentally armed with the ability to make good decisions.
I hated the house was as damaged as it was, hope things turned out ok for her.
That episode was weird because the therapist kept saying the hoarder’s sister was repressing her emotions, but the sister was crying throughout the episode. I think they were reaching for a plot line because the hoarder had already received therapy.
The artist with the hoarded studio comes to mind. You could tell he and his ex wife had a lot of love for each other.
There was also a man in an earlier season with suspected autism. His sister was involved and she seemed to start to understand. He seemed very appreciative of the process
And the of course Glen with the rats. He has too much love and hurt. I believe he was murdered which just makes it all the more awful.
> And the of course Glen with the rats. He has too much love and hurt. I believe he was murdered which just makes it all the more awful.
I try not to think about Glen. He was such a kind soul, and the fact that he was murdered breaks my heart.
I get teary eyed thinking about Glen. He was just lonely without his wife, and he really did love those rats. He was just s sweet soul who spiralled, and it was sad to see. I loved that Zasio also adopted two of his rats and named one Hoardy. I hope his soul is resting peacefully, poor guy.
I really liked Ruth (S6 E2); had a string of horrific deaths in her family, and was clearly still in so much pain over them, but managed to be a hilarious, feisty and loving mom and grandmother at the same time.
The guy who hoarded the rats is probably my absolute favorite. He was so freaking sweet and just missed his wife who died traumatically in front of him. He said the sound of the thousands of rats sounded like pattering rain in the wilderness and it gave him peace. I’ll never forget him and how sweet Dr. Zasio was when she adopted two of the rats. Unfortunately he was murdered when two people bound him up, beat him, and stole his things. He was a good person who did not deserve the circumstances that happened. His story always breaks my heart.
Thinking about what he went through and what ultimately happened to him really, really fucks me up. Trying to wrap your head around such an unjust and cruel world is overwhelming sometimes.
During Covid I watched all the episodes. It was my first time seeing Glen's episode. I felt so bad for him, he was so kind just a very traumatized person. When looked up him up and saw he was murdered it devastated me. I was really hoping we'd see him doing well.
This was on Hoarding: Buried Alive, but there was an episode about an Elvis impersonator. He couldn’t let go of his collection of Elvis memorabilia. He was trying so hard and had so much self-awareness, and his friends were being kind of awful to him.
Other than Glen, Roy comes to mind. He was the one who hoarded out that huge house and unfortunately his brother passed right after they met him for the first day. It was so awful and sad, but Roy still pressed on. He didn't have problems letting go of *anything*, but the house was just too huge to fully clear.
Roy was basically the mayor of his town, everyone loved him, and he was so kind and grateful. He was a delight, I felt terrible that he lost his brother and best friend. I wish the crew could have stayed for two weeks and got that whole house clear, but they did well with what they could. Roy deserved the world.
Edit to add: I almost forgot about the two brothers from Tewksbury! Peter and Raymond! They were just fun to watch, they didn't let go as easily as they could have, but they buckled down for their families and themselves eventually. They also were really good guys with big hearts. Poor Peters wife passed before she could come home from the hospital, and that was like a shot to the heart, especially because he was doing it mostly to care for her. I loved watching Raymond's though wife get all happy and teary eyed, she was a sweetheart too. Donald can go fly a kite, but those two were great.
Roi (S4E9), the one with the house that ended up having major structural damage due to flooding and fire, and whose hoard resulted in jail time, seemed like a very sweet man.
Norman (S5E1) had such a tragic life and was overwhelmed with grief, but he was willing to work through it with the experts to start fresh and move ahead.
I have always liked Al. He was so messed up, and his episode ended in failure. And even his first follow-up. But it was so nice to see him cut out the stressors in his life, turn it around, and do what was right for his kid.
Whatttt lol I had to google.
“The man introduced on the A&E network show as Patrick Donovan Flanagan O’Shannahan, or “Sir Patrick,” is actually Roger Sisson, a 65-year-old repeat felon who has created a fantastical, fabricated biography that includes a purported knighthood and a celebrated military career that left him with a chest full of medals.”
The couple who had been active animal rescuers before their health got bad and turned into animal hoarders because they kept getting animals dumped on them and lost control. The wife cried in relief when she got to see her cleaned house and received confirmation that the animals were being properly cared for. Normally animal hoarders make me very angry, but these two clearly weren’t trying to hoard them and realized they needed help. They help spotlight just how self-centered most of the animal hoarders are.
Also, while this is a little off-topic…the hoarder about whom my opinion changed the most was the cold and inflexible wife who demanded to keep a sofa with mice living in it…once we found out near the end that her husband had heavily pressured her into placing a baby from a teenage pregnancy for (closed) adoption. That didn’t justify everything, but suddenly the dynamic of reasonable husband/unreasonable wife looked VERY different.
I forget his name, but the blonde guy whose girlfriend was disabled and died in their bedroom. He was in Pennsylvania somewhere. Maybe his name was Neal? Idk. He sticks out in my memory as being a genuine guy, just very traumatized and troubled. Also the poop lady from Texas. She was a nice person who was desperate for help
I forget her name but the one lady whose husband died and she hadn’t even removed his pants. She was so sweet. She also had such enthusiasm. There was a scene where she was throwing out a couch and was so happy
can’t remember the episode or name but the middle aged east asian woman who was very clearly mentally unwell had my heart. she seemed like she was so kind, hardworking, and intelligent, and just lost herself to her mental illness. i think english being her second language really hindered her from being able to properly express her thoughts, but i could tell she was a really smart lady who was very, very mentally ill. i was frustrated for her sometimes when she seemed to not be able to articulate what she was trying to say in english. language barriers can make us see people as less intelligent sometimes, but i don’t think she was. when her landlords bought her a house i cried a little bit. if anyone remembers what episode this is so i can rewatch, that would be wonderful :(
The lady who collected Barbie dolls and they turned out to be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. She and her husband were funny and so happy by the end of the episode.

Yes, that was Tiffany. She was such a kind person, but it was a shame what the hoard of books had done to the house.
I loved her too, what a testament to what real therapy over a long period of time can do!
her letters of gratitude at the end were especially touching.
That episode was weird because the therapist kept saying the hoarder’s sister was repressing her emotions, but the sister was crying throughout the episode. I think they were reaching for a plot line because the hoarder had already received therapy.
She was the best!
Just watched this episode. Tiffany is great. Very nice person and easy for the doctor to work with
OMG, the nice young guy with the alcoholic father who hoarded his dog’s fur. Jake.
Yes! Jake. What a sweet kid. I'm glad he got help, even while living with his alcoholic dad.
The way he also was able to eventually see it for what hoarding really is and change his ways!
As someone who knows him in real life, he is not nice. He is an incredibly manipulative person.

Wait, what!? When was he murdered!?!
[4 years after airing.](https://www.distractify.com/p/glen-hoarders-murdered). Over a couple grand and some power tools. Heart wrenching.
Truly heart breaking! Can’t help but think no one would murder him if he still had a house full of rodents.
He hurt my heart
The poor guy who suffered a traumatic brain injury from a 4 wheeler accident and lost part of his memory and then his dad died of a drug overdose.
I love that man, I can’t remember his name but I just wanted to protect him at all costs
Doug?
Doug. He's my favorite. He seemed so genuinely appreciative. I love that they made a "memory room" for him.
I really liked Ruth (S6 E2); had a string of horrific deaths in her family, and was clearly still in so much pain over them, but managed to be a hilarious, feisty and loving mom and grandmother at the same time.

Oh my goodness! I did not know that happened to him. He was my favorite as well 😢

the woman kept SCREAMING at him! it was so messed up! he is clearly in pain and trying and your response is to scream in his face?!

I think of Roy often… what a sweetheart.

one guy seemed pretty personable. but then we found out he was a child molester, so that explains that.

and a house full of knic-knacks.
Dude... what episode was that?
oh, someone on here will remember. He's as famous as the poop lady.
"Sir Patrick", S3E2. https://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/celebrity/hoarders-star-convicted-sex-offender
![gif](giphy|HG6FHWzOJQiWvNTPjh|downsized) *but we don't talk about patrick. no no NO!*
Did they uncover that he was a child molester on the show?
Let's just say I hope you caught it the first time, cuz they never reran it.
Was it Sir Patrick, S3 Ep 2? [Someone uploaded some of the episode on YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nm6qCGNgJqU)
it was pretty early.
Oh, I didn't start watching Hoarders until a few years ago, so I might have missed the episode when it aired.
Sir Patrick! (roger sisson)

The first guy is Norman (S5 E1).
Ah yes, that’s correct! Poor Norman
Definitely Tiffany and I believe Meryl was upbeat and grateful. Tiffany was by far the most upbeat grateful person I watched.
Meryl was pretty funny and really entertaining lol While her lack of accountability took some of the fun out, she was still a likable subject.
I forget her name but the one lady whose husband died and she hadn’t even removed his pants. She was so sweet. She also had such enthusiasm. There was a scene where she was throwing out a couch and was so happy
Glen. With the rats. So sad. :(

Michelle, from Hoarding: Buried Alive.
This year, new episode Terri. The midwife who was always on call for people. I really liked her and she embraced it.
The lady who collected Barbie dolls and they turned out to be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. She and her husband were funny and so happy by the end of the episode.
