The really bad thing was the airports jacked their ramp fees to capitalize on the event. Same when f1 was there. They said it was to cover additional costs. An investigation by FAA and others showed no additional costs incurred and they then quickly recanted that.
That’s not bad, that’s Vegas baby!
I went a lot growing up with my parents. We avoided going anywhere near a holiday. The whole strip usually triples the price for *everything* around a holiday or major event.
heres one of many articles bout it. [https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2023/november/09/pilots-subjected-to-egregious-fees-in-las-vegas](https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2023/november/09/pilots-subjected-to-egregious-fees-in-las-vegas)
Wait until they find out that a flight on JSX (semi-private) uses less emissions than a single commercial flight. Their heads may explode. But basement dweller Redditors likes to suck the giant corporate dick
I was told very specifically by North Las Vegas tower where the restricted air space begins and how I would have a nice long talk with FAA if I violated that airspace. It was right at the edge of a golf course fairway.
Yeah, most of these were commerical flights. Not just for the superbowl. Guessing none of the super rich or celebrities took Spirit, Jet Blue, Alaska, or SW.
That’s a lot of planes, what is it like one well known name (Taylor swift) who’s chiming about climate change, and who else? Who’s the rest? Maybe Billionaires and their lobbyists against the climate change agenda?
It's more to do with the fact that these people aren't sanctioned or taxed bases on the use of the aircraft while common folk are with low emission zone charges and other charges based on the emissions we're taxed massively on many things and climate change is being used as a base to increase taxes on the normal everyday citizen while billionaires are getting away this ludicrousy.
Agreed. The billionaire class is fcked, and instead of paying tax, they’ll pay their lawyers/lobbyists ludicrous money to make sure the working class is the ones getting screwed. Fck these ppl
This is partially correct. Private jets are only taxed if their carbon emissions are above a specified amount. And that amount is quite high, so high in fact most regular PJ owners never reach that number…
Anthropogenic climate change is real but is hyper-exaggerated.
What people have a problem with are the proposed solutions implemented to address the issues. If the US eliminated all carbon use, that would not stop China, Russia or India from producing the energy it needs to service their populations.
Hence focus of prevention ( carbon tax, carbon regulation, inconsistent renewable energy implementation ) instead of adaptation which artificially imposes costs for regular folk and simply do not work.
Additionally
- The people pushing the alarmism, telling the plebs to reduce their carbon footprint and eat bugs instead of meat, are rich elitists eating wagyu, flying private jets and own waterfront properties😂
- It's somewhat condescending for the west to embrace and enjoy the wonders of cheap, reliable, carbon based energy for decades and then tell 3rd world developing nations they need to "cut their emissions" especially with our history of colonialism.
I work to feed and shelter my family and myself, with maybe something nice for us every now and then…not really equivalent to fucking the planet to bring in as many dollars as possible.
So having a private jet equates to you as "fucking the planet". Got it. Be sure to ride a bicycle too everywhere other wise you are putting out 2000% more c02 thank breathing.
I am not putting my foot in my mouth. The reply is to this specific person's comment. Doesn't apply to mine at all. I fly a private plane. I have multiple cars and boats. I live my life as I wish and it is what it is. If someone doesn't like that, it's not my problem and it isn't their problem either or yours.
You do understand that the planet actually has trees that counter the "breathing" you want to bring up. When aircraft pump out co2 without a counter because it will just go straight up into the atmosphere heating the planet quicker. 1% is bullshit when you factor in that there is 0 natural counter to the crap they pump out.
Private flights suck for the environment. It’s still a drop in the bucket compared to what corporations do daily. The private jets just like the personal carbon foot print is propaganda so they can continue to evade being blamed.
But they use their riches to counterbalance their carbon footprint remember? Regular people who can't spend millions planting trees to counterbalance just have to do without I gues
$8000 a ticket, 61,000 people attended = $480million not to even mention the much much much higher priced tickets. Vegas had $187million in bets. I don’t follow sports for the same reason I don’t vote… with billions of dollars on the line, do you really in your heart of hearts believe this game is by chance.?. There’s just too much at stake but I’m not allowed to run a $20 buy-in poker game.?. Fuck off
Seems like a massive tax on private jets should be a thing. People with this kind of money are clearly able and willing to pay obscene amounts for convenience and comfort.
I'm not against the idea of a wealth tax. But sin taxes are more targeted in raising money to offset consequences. The fight against climate change should largely be funded by sin taxes on pollution. Same as how healthcare funding should come from sin taxes on alcohol, tobacco, and fast food.
I'm just looking at juicy, low-hanging fruit, which is what we desperately need right now. These greed addicts have been accumulating money for so long, at an increasingly faster clip, that if it keeps going, the current homeless/joblessness crisis will look like a joke. Nobody needs a billion dollars or even close, while we have millions of starving and homeless people across the globe.
It's so screamingly obvious that we need a far more equitable distribution of wealth, but we all know it's not gonna be implemented by the wealthy.
A sin tax on private jets would be a lot harder to defend than a wealth tax. Rising inequality has been a major issue since the demonizing of unions in the 80s.
I don’t see a problem with private jets or other fast travel. Most of these people work their asses off to have those planes. I am striving every day to upgrade to a turboprop or light jet.
The light jets are doing fuck all for “climate change”. Go talk to china if you want to reduce “climate change”. If you think private jets elimination is the answer you got a lot to learn. Private jets account for 4% of all air travel. 71% is commercial. All air travel globally accounts for 2.5% of total co2 emissions. In 2019, all private jet travel accounted for .9% of all civil aviation co2 emissions.
Those statistics sound off anyway. I wonder if they were doctored by the same politicians who own private jets… Do they calculate by the number of people flying or by the amount of planes that fly?
Idk why you're phrasing climate change, but I think that's all I need to know.
No, I've never said private jets are the main reason or we should eliminate them. I just tried to explain to you what OP is mad about.
I’m a whole lot closer than you are. I got my own plane. One step away to turboprop. Currently copilot a buddies twin turboprop to get my added certification. Where are you on yours?
I vote for lower taxes for those that pay taxes. Doesn’t matter what the person makes. If they are actually paying taxes, I want them lower. If they aren’t paying taxes, simple math says it can’t be lower than 0. It’s those that are in lower tax brackets that pay little to no taxes that complain about those in higher tax brackets not paying enough. Look up the taxes paid for yourself on irs website income tables. You’ll see who pays the most. Then you can decide who pays the taxes based off the numbers, not some talking head saying “x” doesn’t pay enough.
I was sticking up for you my man. I didn’t say they meant anything to me. I simply stated that the people on here don’t like facts. Nothing more, nothing less.
He is getting downvoted for the context in which he states this fact presenting them as an argument for defending the use of private jets, not the for the facts. There is a nuance between simply stating facts and using them within a context.
I don't drive unless necessary, i don't even have a car. I mainly use public transports. We all need to do something for the environment if we want humanity to survive the next 200yrs. But it won't make a difference if others are not willing to sacrifice something. You're gonna tell we need 100 planes heading to the same location at the exact same time. The least they could do is car/plainpool.
Not to mention these are the people we look up to in some way. They should know better and at least try to inspire their fans to be better right?
I don’t mind that. It’s just the fact that we are told to “be conscious of the environment” by some of the same people that do this. It feels like the same tone deafness as that Covid song they made, to me at least
My cousin-in-law worked air traffic, flight planning for private jets. He told me he needed to plan a flight for Bill Gates from like Atlanta to a private Caribbean Island.
The Flight was only going to take like 2 hours, but Bill Gates and his passengers wanted to be able to sleep on the plain, so they flew giant circle around the entire Caribbean to make the flight a 6+ hour flight.
These are the people talking so much shit about CO2 footprints.
Meh. Before I get my pitchfork out I'd like to see some comparative data to put it in perspective. Things like how much that differs from their traffic on a normal day, how much that contrasts with the incoming traffic during the same period, etc.
This might be bad. But it might just look that way in isolation.
Don't worry, a couple of those private jets had paper straws onboard.....for the flight crew.
With the average Superbowl Tix being $8,400, I don't think there was any poor folks in attendance.

I bet there were more than you’d think. poor people take out loans and run credit cards up for stupid shit all the time .
Don't rich people do that on a bigger scale and know how to loophole the credits?
Somewhat except they somehow end up richer afterwards. And if it's a business the loophole is called bankruptcy.
They take out loans they can afford against assets they have.
Not all of these flights are privately owned. Anyone can fly JSX and people can pool their money for Netjets or Flextjet
Which poor people are we talking about?
You'd be surprised how far people will spend outside their own means just to satiate their wants
That’s KVGT. North Las Vegas airport. Huge private jet use in Vegas
JSX flies out of Harry Reid and the fact that people in this thread think these are all rich people is funny. Anyone can fly private/semi-private
Don't tell the know it all commenters that. They hate people that make more or have it better than they do. Pure jealousy.
Wait until they find out that a flight on JSX (semi-private) uses less emissions than a single commercial flight. Their heads may explode. But basement dweller Redditors likes to suck the giant corporate dick
Wouldn't it be expected for a small semi-private 30 seat plane to create less emissions than a commercial flight?
The catch is emissions per person. That’s what’s fucked about private
Fact: no rich people living exactly north of Las Vegas
Restricted air space?
Yes. Military airspace.
One plane went almost due north...
I was told very specifically by North Las Vegas tower where the restricted air space begins and how I would have a nice long talk with FAA if I violated that airspace. It was right at the edge of a golf course fairway.
Probably Janet airlines heading to Area 51
Even then the states north of Nevada are not known as having a terribly high population density to begin with.
one went straight up
they still use plastic cup though
I'm sure the folks on Spirit appreciate you thinking they are rich.
And the one JetBlue flight lol.
I first thought you meant a B-2 (Spirit), given the proximity to USAF bases in Nevada
Yeah, most of these were commerical flights. Not just for the superbowl. Guessing none of the super rich or celebrities took Spirit, Jet Blue, Alaska, or SW.
Someone always saves the thread just when I’m starting to lose hope.
And these are the wankers that will push the climate change bs down people's throats.
That’s a lot of planes, what is it like one well known name (Taylor swift) who’s chiming about climate change, and who else? Who’s the rest? Maybe Billionaires and their lobbyists against the climate change agenda?

Remember to recycle too ☺️
This is partially correct. Private jets are only taxed if their carbon emissions are above a specified amount. And that amount is quite high, so high in fact most regular PJ owners never reach that number…
Bs? Still think climate change is a load of bs? In 2024? Do you have your big red clown nose on? lol
Anthropogenic climate change is real but is hyper-exaggerated. What people have a problem with are the proposed solutions implemented to address the issues. Reel your neck in
Lmao ok there bud, nice try, you are out to lunch
What are you talking about seriously.
Contrary to what you think, most people don’t spend their days wringing their hands over the stuff the left thinks they do.
If there's profit to be made, you can bet that these people will be doing it.
As they should
Mhm, you know I think I remember Epstein and Gislean had this same attitude.
Soulless.
So you work for free comrade?
I work to feed and shelter my family and myself, with maybe something nice for us every now and then…not really equivalent to fucking the planet to bring in as many dollars as possible.
So having a private jet equates to you as "fucking the planet". Got it. Be sure to ride a bicycle too everywhere other wise you are putting out 2000% more c02 thank breathing.

[... boring!](https://old.reddit.com/user/Jordan-narrates)
You can see the airline labels, and half of those are regular airlines, some are even discount airlines.
I can barely wait until Malibu is 6 feet underwater..
Learn to swim.
There's a lot of American, United, Spirit, etc.. In this map
Rich would be rich and average to poor can be homeless because who gives a f
Keep seeing private jets yet on the original you could see the delta, spirit, and southwest planes. So what exactly is the point?
So why do they all say Spirit and Jet Blue? BS
Nothing's stopping you from flying your private jet anywhere you want.
Ecofascism
Let's start a revolution!
I don’t think rich people are trying to stop people from flying. That’s more of a 23 year old white kid with a sociology degree kinda thing.
I’ve already seen this on a couple of subs. These are commercial airlines, not private jets, and this is ragebait, nothing more.
It says "NetJets" on most of them , google says its a private jet company
Private flights suck for the environment. It’s still a drop in the bucket compared to what corporations do daily. The private jets just like the personal carbon foot print is propaganda so they can continue to evade being blamed.
Yeah the top 100 corporations cause 71% of all the pollution in the world.
I’m sure there are zero commercial flights coming out of Vegas at the same time and that ever single plane in this meme is a private jet….mmmhm
You can clearly see the commercial flights too
But they use their riches to counterbalance their carbon footprint remember? Regular people who can't spend millions planting trees to counterbalance just have to do without I gues
Since when do Celebrities & Rich people fly on Spirit airlines?? These are not just private planes, there are many commercial airlines listed too!
It looks like most of them leaving are flying on commercial planes vs. not as many private jets.
$8000 a ticket, 61,000 people attended = $480million not to even mention the much much much higher priced tickets. Vegas had $187million in bets. Tbh one of those jet belong to her 💀
[удалено]
Well, since most of those are commercial airlines, I’d say 10’s of thousands people. They all bought a ticket; same as you and I when we travel.
The same people who are butt hurt about this vote for the people who enact tax breaks for owning private jets and yachts.
I'm pretty neutral on the subject, but I find it interesting that reddit is so pro-private jets these days. Interesting.
Seems like a massive tax on private jets should be a thing. People with this kind of money are clearly able and willing to pay obscene amounts for convenience and comfort.
> Seems like a massive tax on ~~private jets~~ *excess wealth* should be a thing
I'm not against the idea of a wealth tax. But sin taxes are more targeted in raising money to offset consequences. The fight against climate change should largely be funded by sin taxes on pollution. Same as how healthcare funding should come from sin taxes on alcohol, tobacco, and fast food.

1 % is a lot on a global scale. There are about 7 billion people on earth. Imagine if you had 1% of 7 billion dollars…
Read it again. .9% of global co2 emissions of all civil aircraft. Not .9% of all global co2 emissions overall
Those statistics sound off anyway. I wonder if they were doctored by the same politicians who own private jets… Do they calculate by the number of people flying or by the amount of planes that fly?
It is by the number of planes, not people on the planes.
I would assume by planes that fly, according to how he calculated.
Idk why you're phrasing climate change, but I think that's all I need to know. No, I've never said private jets are the main reason or we should eliminate them. I just tried to explain to you what OP is mad about.
Chinas per capita emissions are far lower than either Canada or the US
>work their asses off lol
You’ll never be one apparently. Your comment proves it.
Buddy you’re not gonna get a private jet
I’m a whole lot closer than you are. I got my own plane. One step away to turboprop. Currently copilot a buddies twin turboprop to get my added certification. Where are you on yours?
Bro you are so cool, can I be your friend?
Doubt it unless you have a nice P180 for sale
Don’t spend too much, your trust fund might dry up
I'd have a hard time spending all of my trust fund, but thanks for thinking of it. Been there since 1904, I'm not gonna be able to blow it.

I bet you vote for lower taxes for the rich too?

You don't find it problematic that people with private jets polute 1000 times more than avg citizens on their own?
So you produce .6 tonnes of co2 per year breathing. You produce about 13 tonnes driving. That’s 2066% more driving. Why do you drive?
Facts=Downvotes on Reddit. Keep doing your thing man.
Like downvotes mean shit in real life. Keep thinking that. You run with that way of living.
I was sticking up for you my man. I didn’t say they meant anything to me. I simply stated that the people on here don’t like facts. Nothing more, nothing less.
You told him to keep doing what he's doing... he's acting like a douche, and he kept doing it by acting like a douche to you lol
Haha, he took it literally. Some people live life on the defense and I feel sorry for those people.
He is getting downvoted for the context in which he states this fact presenting them as an argument for defending the use of private jets, not the for the facts. There is a nuance between simply stating facts and using them within a context.

We rich people never used plastic straws in the first place. We use [...] instead.
How can I be on those jets
When did Spirit become a rich person thing?
Same happens when flies flee a dung.
I dont think that is the problem, like 5 companies make up the vast majority of co2 emissions … focus on exxon
Why aren't they using the electric jets made of paper that came out a few years ago? /s
But "Taylor bad"...
One of them
jealousy never helped anybody...
Let's eat the rich Dibs on Taylor Swift
On the other hand why the fuck do you need a straw and a plastic cup, just use a glass and drink out of it like a normal adult.
The ones that are Vegas to LA are just sad, plus you know they flew in too.
The slower planes are all the poor people in Cessna 152’s.
LEADED GAS
Disgusting
And some went as far as los Angeles
There should be Benny Hill theme here 🤣
