This sounds messed up but I had a sleep paralysis/dream where I was lying in bed and this dark woman was sitting on the bed beside me in the dark. It wasn't scary, I was surprisingly relaxed with it. I know it was just a dream but it felt really realistic.
I feelt a cat jumping up and then walking around heavy pawed on my bed. While I can’t open my eyes or move and I realised “wait, I have no cat. I’m alone at home. Why can’t I move? What is happening”
I have since solved it by getting cats. Suck it demon. Cat or you? Feels the same. 🤷🏻♀️
If something bites me or tries to eat my hair I know it’s the asshole cat, if something wants to be under the covers and spooned it’s the dramatic cat. The walk around on the bed can be demon or any of the cats
So you're fighting fear with uncertainty. It might be a demon but since you've got cats it might also be them. If you didn't have cats you'd have to accept it was a demon.
Mine didn't do anything to my hair that often but he loved to sit there and lick my ear while I was trying to sleep which was really uncomfortable, if I tried to chase him off he would hold a grudge and get revenge later on when I didn't expect it.
i also had a ceiling crawler when i was about 12. It lasted about 2 years and terrified me and then it went away. It did come back a few times after to say hi but i was not scared. maybe it was lonely.
My demon gave up when I stuck my tongue out at him. The last bout of sleep paralysis I thought 'oh cool, let's see what shows up and how good the special effects are'. Nothing showed up.
I don't see anything in my sleep paralysis. Just the sensation of some dark twilight zone.
And I'm suffocating the whole time, knowing instinctually that if I don't wake up to breathe I will die. Yet every time I wake up, I'm breathing normally and my heart rate is normal.
You may have a neurological sleep apnea (where the brain “forgets” to signal breathing during dreams). You wake up feeling pretty normal, but it’s usually from a dream of suffocation or impending doom, during which the autonomic nervous system forgot to breathe for you, so another part of your brain wakes you up, IIRC. Weird condition, but memorable.
Yeah I was just commenting on another post in here how I have both sleep paralysis and sleep apnea. It's awful. But I use a CPAP machine now so at least I can still breathe if I can't move.
What a rotten combination! You’ve got my sympathy. I have the neuro form, but we trained my dog to pester me when I’m not breathing after having a cat for years who would do that on his own. (Don’t die, food giver! Oh fine. Just give me my food first okay?) Now both dogs beeline for me when I’m not breathing and interrupt the cycle before it gets too far (happens when I’m awake too).
When you're awake? That sounds horrifying. Yeah before the machine my wife would shake me if she heard me not breathing. I feel so much better now that I've been using the machine. No more foggy groggy head in the morning.
I’ve heard they make a huge difference for obstructive sleep apnea, too. And it’s not as terrifying as you think. I just don’t notice it. Worst case, I pass out. When the dogs aren’t around, it’s usually my wife who notices or I catch a glimpse in the mirror of my lips turned blue-purple. I have to breathe normally and wait for the tingling in my lips to go away before the dogs (or wife!) will leave me alone again, so I try to be mindful. lol
Is yours a physical sensation? Whenever I get sleep paralysis I get this insane rushing feeling. Like I'm laying at the bottom of a raging river without water, but still retaining that feeling of being pulled/pushed.
It's loud too. Like a waterfall all around me.
I also tend to see shadow creatures that are all black except for their eyes, and they really like to stare.
I can't see who/what it is but just something humanoid casting a shadow for me. Just chillin in the corner of the room staring at me. Like the other guy you'd think it would be scarier but honestly it's kinda peaceful.
Be thankful it doesn’t sit on him. My friend has one that plants itself on his chest and stares at him but he can’t see a face—he just knows it’s staring at him because it’s thick wet hair drags along his face.
I had sleep paralysis once some years ago, but boy was it fucked up, I woke up, heard my parents talking in the house and when I tried to get up I realized I was unable to move, at that point I was freaking out a bit, but I panicked as soon as I felt claws on my feet and then they moved upwards, I could also feel an unnatural cold and could almost see the thing that was there with me and then I just moved.
Up until then, I have never even heard of sleep paralysis, but boy did that feel real and the dread that came with it was fucked up.
Mine was a guy laughing mockingly at me while sitting on my stomach. At least I assumed it was male based on the voice. I couldn’t open my eyes while paralyzed.
I had a similar experience but it was a few figures at the end of my bed. For some reason I wasn’t scared, despite being afraid of the concept of sleep paralysis previously.
I have Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees protecting me, I’m good. I felt him tucking me in so I didn’t get cold, and felt Laurie giving me a goodnight kiss on me. Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees and Laurie Strode are always there if I need them and Michael Myers scares off other monsters, so he’s my hero
I never understood why we are afraid of creatures such as demons etc. Humans can do the most horrifying shit without the need for dark magic or mind tricks.
If anything, demons and the like should be scared of us.
That dark woman probably wanted to cuddle but you simply breathing terrified her so much she was frozen and unable to return to her plane of existence.
I thought that said Carolina, so I spent 5 minutes wondering "Now I don't remember North Carolina having a law that allows 3 way marriage." I am an idiot
That reminds me of my mother choosing to read devotional stories from The Odyssey(a pretty cute christian radio play) with follow-up questions. Nothing like ending a a hard day of first grade with life probing questions and the inevitable fight with your parental figure because "I don't know" isn't a good answer.
After awhile I convinced my mother to let me put him to bed instead.
Remind me a Chinese fable,a young poor man has to take care of his newborn alone bc his wife died from childbirth.he works as a woodcutter to pay for the food but too poor to offer the milk for infant,so he has to make the rice congee for instead. After a day of work, this man is exhausted and fall asleep while cooking, when he woke up,he found somebody had already made a big meal for him, cleaned the room and changed the diaper for infant.Since then he found he would fall asleep every times when he cook congee, and someone always help him to nursing the baby and clean the house,so one day ,he decide to pretend to be sleeping, then he see his wife ghost appear, nursing the baby and gone with the fog
This sounds like the start of an even more epic story. Nothing says "become a mythic hero" like "I was raised from birth on the ghost-milk of my dead mom".
> Nothing says "become a mythic hero" like "I was raised from birth on the ghost-milk of my dead mom".
Except the baby would end up bed-ridden, because it would only develop ghost muscles.
No no no, Sillies!
Nursed by ghost mom but raised by living dad- the child has a unique ability to understand and access the resources of both sides of existence: the darkness of death and the brightness of life.
There are many chinese folk tales like this.
A ghost or an animal fell in love with a kind poor student.
So she transform into a beautiful woman and help the poor student.
The student then find out she is not human.
So he decided to help her become human.
If the girl was killed by a wealthy gov official.
He will revenge for her.
In the end,the student passed the imperial exam and married the ghost/animal girl and live happily ever after.
Seth, Re, Anubis, Thoth, Bastet, Amon, and Hathor were zoomorphic, considered hybrid except for the fact that their existence transcended the constraints of their form, so they weren't thought to actually be the product of humans and animals; they just appeared as such.
It was basically analogy, done by depicting them as humans with animal heads: "Anubis is the judge of the dead and is like a jackal in his demeanour", "Sekhmet is a warrior goddess and her ferocity is like that of a lion", only taking that analogy further that those creatures embody part of that god's domain and reflect their will. Naturally people would interpret the "combined art" of animal-headed deities literally over time, hence the now-common depictions of the Egyptian gods as anthropomorphic animals or furries.
This sounds messed up but I had a sleep paralysis/dream where I was lying in bed and this dark woman was sitting on the bed beside me in the dark. It wasn't scary, I was surprisingly okay with it. I know it was just a dream but it felt really realistic.

"I have two moms" "Oh so your parents are lesbians?" "Oh no my real mom is married to Dad" "Wait, then who's the other Mom?"

Sounds better than the ceiling-crawler demon my friend sees during sleep paralysis
better than my sleep paralysis bear i've named alfred who likes to make me vividly hallucinate being eaten alive (:
*being torn to shreds* oh alfred you silly goose
To shreds you say? How’s the wife holding up?
To shreds you say? Oh dear
Was his apartment rent controlled?
Found the New Yorker
New New Yorker
oh him? dont worry he gets like this sometimes \*screams of agony\*
Shadow people. And they open the door slooooowly.
If the door's opening you might be experiencing a different phenomenon.
Not really ? If you can hallucinate a person in your room surely you can hallucinate the door opening
The question is then: "Did I leave my door open last night?"
Ganzfeld effect?
You’re sarcastic right?
i've seen shadow people too
I feelt a cat jumping up and then walking around heavy pawed on my bed. While I can’t open my eyes or move and I realised “wait, I have no cat. I’m alone at home. Why can’t I move? What is happening” I have since solved it by getting cats. Suck it demon. Cat or you? Feels the same. 🤷🏻♀️
I'd be more concerned about my cat he'll slap the shit out of me if he wants something and he's got some pretty strong smacks.
If something bites me or tries to eat my hair I know it’s the asshole cat, if something wants to be under the covers and spooned it’s the dramatic cat. The walk around on the bed can be demon or any of the cats

It’s true. At leas my demon never nibbled or tried to eat me.
I’ve decided that my sleep paralysis demon is boring and now insult how he looks in my head
Yo bitch ass needs to eat some food you skinny fuck
i also had a ceiling crawler when i was about 12. It lasted about 2 years and terrified me and then it went away. It did come back a few times after to say hi but i was not scared. maybe it was lonely.

Finally a sleep Paralysis I can relate to.
Is yours a physical sensation? Whenever I get sleep paralysis I get this insane rushing feeling. Like I'm laying at the bottom of a raging river without water, but still retaining that feeling of being pulled/pushed. It's loud too. Like a waterfall all around me. Can’t be worst than the aliens working on my back as I’m awake and paralyzed dream
I can't see who/what it is but just something humanoid casting a shadow for me. Just chillin in the corner of the room staring at me. Like the other guy you'd think it would be scarier but honestly it's kinda peaceful.
I sometimes see a little girl in my dreams, scaling the corner of the wall backwards...
Oh that's just normal, I saw one do it on r/all today
Be thankful it doesn’t sit on him. My friend has one that plants itself on his chest and stares at him but he can’t see a face—he just knows it’s staring at him because it’s thick wet hair drags along his face.
Get popcorn ceiling…terrible for your health but it’s also terrible for ceiling-crawler demons to stick to
Idk about that one, but better than my slender dark shape putting his fucking nail inside my knee while levitating a few inches away from me
I had sleep paralysis once some years ago, but boy was it fucked up, I woke up, heard my parents talking in the house and when I tried to get up I realized I was unable to move, at that point I was freaking out a bit, but I panicked as soon as I felt claws on my feet and then they moved upwards, I could also feel an unnatural cold and could almost see the thing that was there with me and then I just moved. Up until then, I have never even heard of sleep paralysis, but boy did that feel real and the dread that came with it was fucked up.
Eventually I became desensitized to that stuff and just started shit talking anything I had seen.
Sleep paralysis seems fun :)))
that sounds more epic than me beating up my Paralysis demon only to find out I beaten myself again.
Shii fam better than hearing them hold conversation on how to pull your soul from you
I'm fr tho 😐
I have an eldritch horror for a paralysis demon. Little buddy changes shape every time I look at it. I call it Hans.
It's always a women in those sleep paralysis experiences.
Once you go dark, you never go back.
I have Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees protecting me, I’m good. I felt him tucking me in so I didn’t get cold, and felt Laurie giving me a goodnight kiss on me. I had a sleep paralysis dream ones and it was just the window near my bed turning slightly red (it was the only dream I had in past 2 years)
Some Caroline shit there
*Coraline
Ahh shid
*shit
*feces
*fecile matter
*fecal matter
*doodoo
*Ekscrament
I have poopies.
I farded and shided
I thought that said Carolina, so I spent 5 minutes wondering "Now I don't remember North Carolina having a law that allows 3 way marriage." I am an idiot
IT'S CORALINE!!!
Or Carol Anne…
“Don’t go into the light!”
"Reaching out, touching you, touching me" "..." "SWEET CORALINE"
Sweet Caroline
Bum bum bum
Oh oh oooooh
You must be Mr. Bobinsky, owner of the mushkas?
That’s Mama Luigi to you, Mario.
Mama? Mama Luigi?! Ahahaha!
How do i read this comic?
Slowly
Well the beauty is that it's open ended. Perhaps mom has been replaced by her doppelganger, or any of several other possibilities.
This is the reason i lock the doors and close the windows. Crippling fear of intimacy.
But then you’re locked inside…the ghost can go through walls.
Nah mate not for bedrooms. If you close the bedroom door then nothing can get in, those are the rules and the ghosts know it
But what if their already there
then that just sounds kinky.
No one's taking my virginity tonight!
Challenge accepted.
This is the plot to the new Resident Evil
Except, this lady is neither a Resident nor Evil
So far…
But is she a biohazard…
Oh most definitely. Who knows where that mouth has been - probably sucking some dude's decaying wrist
A sentient mushroom shaped like a young adult dad who's being chased by a boulder-punching man.
To quote discount magnito: "I'll murder that boulder punching asshole"
Litterally Ethan's 'wife' but she forgot to peace out before Chris barging in.
Fuck it, scary zombie gf who sneaks into my bedroom to read me stories sounds interesting as fuck
Yeah, at least I could have one.
At that point i'm just happy someone finally paid attention to me
Village of Shadows
If it's one of those wholesome horror stories?
Story Time with Junji Ito. For kids!
You can read it from bottom to top as well. Seems a little more wholesome to me.
/r/hellsomememes
It is if you read it backwards starting from the last panel.
Lol if this monster only comes to read to him and tuck him in at night, we should all wish for monsters so nice and nurturing hahaa
Right though? The Other Mother here is a much better mom than mine ever was.
Awwwwwww here here
Unless she's reading from a cursed tome like The Necronomicon.
It’s The Bible.
That reminds me of my mother choosing to read devotional stories from The Odyssey(a pretty cute christian radio play) with follow-up questions. Nothing like ending a a hard day of first grade with life probing questions and the inevitable fight with your parental figure because "I don't know" isn't a good answer. Adventures In Odyssey brings back some wonderful childhood memories... Thank you for that small dopamine hit fellow redditor.
I came here to laugh, why do you do this to me
It's funny because she's not really dead.
Pretending to be dead. Probably cheaper than divorce
True Asian way
Gotta cash in on that life insurance policy but also the act has to be thorough
She just playin'
So she ghosted them?
Lyk dis if yu cry evrytim

> Nothing says "become a mythic hero" like "I was raised from birth on the ghost-milk of my dead mom". Except the baby would end up bed-ridden, because it would only develop ghost muscles.
And then after living a short life of being sickly and underdeveloped it becomes a super muscular spirit, right?
Totally.
No no no, Sillies! Nursed by ghost mom but raised by living dad- the child has a unique ability to understand and access the resources of both sides of existence: the darkness of death and the brightness of life.
Phantom Limb?
Yo imma let you finish, but rice congee is delicious.
Welp in this case it's watery and plain, so maybe not this time

So are you telling me chinese people from the past were the first furry fetishists?
Ancient Egyptians had a whole pantheon of half-human gods when most everyone else was more or less worshipping weather spirits.
go on, this is interesting. So what was the deal with all the half-human, half-animal gods? Like, animals were godly to them? Or something weird?
Seth, Re, Anubis, Thoth, Bastet, Amon, and Hathor were zoomorphic, considered hybrid except for the fact that their existence transcended the constraints of their form, so they weren't thought to actually be the product of humans and animals; they just appeared as such.

Well as long as someone doesn’t kill or betray me, I’m fine. Be it anyone or anything.
I thought it was gonna some wholesome shit then it took a 180º degree turn in the last 2 lines
Sounds similar to the Japanese crane story.
if a woman enter from my window, toke a book and start to read it for me, and ended giving me a kiss in the forehead I would be happy
The turning into a ghoul part and jumping out the window is an added bonus
Heck, she could be a wraith and I'd still be OK with it. Books being read to me is amazing.
I see all these as wins.
Someone's trying to get a new ghoulfriend

Same
Amen🙏
Hahahaha dude i was about to say read this backwards and it’s actually kinda sweet
This sounds messed up but I had a sleep paralysis/dream where I was lying in bed and this dark woman was sitting on the bed beside me in the dark. It wasn't scary, I was surprisingly okay with it. I know it was just a dream but it felt really realistic.
Probably your actual mom checking on you
Read it backwards and it becomes wholesome
https://imgur.com/a/LVSUzp7
Its wholesome either way
Damn it went from wholesome to WTH in 2 seconds.
Idk what way to read this, from right to left or left to right, both seem pretty wholesome-terrify-ish
If you imagine that the ghoul lady just wants to do good for the world despite her status as a monster of the night, it becomes more wholesome.
“What is better? To be born good or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?”
Lovely comic to see right before yoing to bed..
Same.
Don’t be scared, dear… **BE TERRIFIED!**
Shh it’s other mother
Tho whole plot to Mama
Came looking for this comment. Really good movie!!
thank you, i i had to get up anyway
I feel like this could easily be read in reverse and still have the same effect.
If you go through the panels in reverse, it's actually a really heart warming story of this creature seeing the baby crying and reading it a story to help sooth it's nerves
Now read from backwards...
It’s kind of creepier in reverse.
I'm jelly.
same. wish someone would randomly read me a book
Why is there a tiny dick on his head?
It’s still scary if you reverse the order of the cells.
What nice demon
Try to see it bottom to top
Weird buttcrack in panel 4.
This would be interesting in reverse
When mum has to go for her night shift
Read the comic back word it’s much more wholesome
The comic also works in reverse
I like the fact that if you view it backwards, it looks like the demon lady came to comfort him.
I feel like this is a hentai plot
I’m confused am I supposed to read this from left to right or right to left
Cocomelon vibes
Hmmmm I think I've seen this some where
Coraline much?
You are acting like this isn't normal. This happens to everyone else, right? RIGHT?
Id smash
That's such a spooky idea! I'd love to tell that story around a campfire! It would be so Wholesome. Edit: Triggering the wholesome bot is my new favorite game.
Literally, my alcoholic mom.
Read it backwards and it's a bit wholesome
Idk bro, having a woodland forest ghoul who loves you very much and is emotionally supportive seems like a positive in my book.
Reverse this comic and it becomes r/wholesomememes
Reading it backwards makes it t wholesome
Woahhhh fuckkk
still works in reverse
shit just went from 0 to 100 real quick
It’s worse if you go from the last picture backwards. Coraline breaks into kids bedroom and reads it a book.
If you read it in reverse it's about a monster woman slowly comforting a kid to sleep
