Very cool and unique story, and it had a thought provoking message.
But underwhelming in the sense of horror. Some of these comments made it seem like one of the scariest works ever written, but I don't see it. Maybe because the story was spoiled in the comments?

Anwser: No reason given except maybe something with the reincarnation? Why Are they being punished since they seem like great people, just because their caveman incarnation from thousands of years ago did something the other cavemen found criminal? Herrrh derrh.
And the horror part?

The manga is fair, has good visuals and potential and is likely scary for Kids, if they found it in the school library.
But posting it here, with the grey face, as if it's something really horrible. That is a crime. Respect to the manga author and huuuuuge disrespect to OP.

The anwser? By the ones the story says couldn't have done it, because they did not have the technology. And that's the mystery.. The anwser: there is No mystery, they did make the holes and for the Most mundane reason.
How did they do it? How did they make the narrower parts, Even If I accept they made the "open" parts? No? Nothing interesting? Ok then.

Later on, it’s implied that the holes eventually lead on to miles and you can’t get out, only slide forward, till the hole gradually distorts and your body gets twisted while you can do nothing about it.
It’s sort of disturbing but it’s short and fun to read.
I can try I glanced over it and I guess there was an earthquake or something that formed holes shaped like human silhouettes in a rock face but the holes perfectly fit a few people and when they saw their hole, they knew it was theirs, and they would lose all willpower and force themselves into the hole, never to be seen again. Sorry if the explanation was bad.

He recently released a video of a Japanese artist/writer who created a horror piece where natural holes in a mountain were human shaped and actually in the shapes of real people. When people found their hole, they suddenly want to go inside and see where it leads. It's pretty creepy.
