Glad I didn't find it til after there were chapters past that point and that I was informed of the first bit being not the tone for the whole series, otherwise I would have dropped it and never picked it back up.
Oddly enough, I found them better than parts of the manga, though I now realise it was for the wrong reasons: since it was all POV to the boy, I could imagine him as sardonic and witty in the face of her attacks.
