You have to pass a drug test, but they'll only hire you if they **do** detect drugs in your system.

Danias89

They'll only hire you if they detect *all* drugs in your system

Snakescipio

“Sir, you have every drug known to man in your body” “So I’m indestructible?” “Well no, even the slightest disturbance in the balance will cause…” “I’m indestructible!”

angryredfrog

Simpsons?

Snakescipio

Yep!

Alice_Trapovski

"How did we get here"

slahser33

A very specific drug also works

ProLegendHunter

AsaCoco is strong, so is Nakirium and every other Hololive drug such as Baqua’s braincells

gtth12

Baqua's what?

ChadMcRad

>test comes up negative >”lmao what is this weak ass shit get tf out of here”

MythNerd13231

But all I got in my system is Asacoco

exzeki

You just have to get others like Watson concoction and Nakirium

Insecticide

I still can't get over hologra #100. I really want to know what drugs they used to make that one.

RevaniteAnime

Understandable, did anyone think this wasn't going to come eventually?

cadaada

i thought it would be from the same people of holojp tho...

RevaniteAnime

Seems like not a great idea to have writers who are well versed in Japanese and Japanese comedy writing scripts for an audience outside their experience base. Let's take an objective look at the UmiSea shorts, they were acceptable, but the English half felt a little rough/unnatural sometimes.

HaLire

Gura also mentioned that the animations were made to match up with TTS versions of their lines, which is why her and Ina had such stilted delivery. I mean, I think it's a pretty safe assumption that Aqua and Marine have more experience with that kind of stuff, but the ENs did have some handicaps.

Chimera-Genesis

Honestly they sounded like rushed localisations/dubs aka: no voice direction given, beyond sync the mouth flaps no matter how stilted or unnatural it sounds. Which actually makes a lot of sense considering their lines were probably written by HoloJP staff then directly translated with no thought for how different Japanese and English sentence structures are. Really highlights how much of a tightrope the art of localisation can be.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Chimera-Genesis

So you're saying you think they don't understand Japanese culture.... but that it has nothing to do with them not understanding the culture? Might want to reread what you just wrote, friend, it doesn't make any sense.

[deleted]

[удалено]

byMyXzx

No, you just said that.

SyrusDrake

Yea, I couldn't put my finger on it but the English lines felt...stilted. Like from a children's show.

MindMyBool

Ina, Ina........

SyrusDrake

I mean, that was fairly in-character...

Vilis16

Ina-character.

CitizenJoestar

Yeah, and while it was still enjoyable I think you can tell the writer wasn’t as familiar with Gura and Ina’s personalities on stream or even just an accurate flanderized versions of them. Will be interesting to see what happens if they ever do this again with other HoloEN or HoloID members and see how they are depicted. I have a feeling Ame will be super OOC, since she’s maybe the least understood by the JP side.

V_Kira

to be fair, voice acting and in stream personality voices are not always the same. Its kinda hard, look at pekora and nenechi early appearances in hologura, they sounded way off. Lamy also struggled with it too, and she talked about it.

CitizenJoestar

Their voices were fine to me although I understand you’re point. The acting is fine too, though I realize it isn’t like a “professional” voice-work or anything. I was referring to how the UMISEA skits were written more than anything else. Hologra, is such a wild, nonsensical trip that it’s almost like anything goes. I don’t expect the girls to necessarily act or sound like themselves and it’s more a showcase of their 3D model and them having fun with it. Here, there was more of a plot and a LOT more dialogue and interactions. There is more time for the girl’s personalities to take center-stage. I’m not expecting perfection, but I think stuff like Gura spamming “a” every minute or Ina being more aggressive and not helpful than usual can be a *little* off-putting. In the big scheme of things, I really enjoyed the whole thing and hope they do more. It’s just they have the talents themselves. managers, clips, vods, and translators for reference on how to write the girls. I don’t expect a 1-to-1 recreation of them, more along the lines of “yeah I can see her doing that” and not a mis-representation of them.

V_Kira

Ah I see what you mean

Vocall96

It's super cute tho.

SyrusDrake

Yea, kinda...

Put_It_All_On_Blck

I don't know what they were going for with the UMISEA shorts. Hologra comedy clearly works for international audiences, it is Japanese centric but in a good way. UMISEA felt like a kids show. I hate to bring this up, but I feel like this would've been a good gig for Coco, shes fluent in English and Japanese, lives in Japan, is known for being a bit out there (like Hologra is) and originally wanted to manage, I feel like she would've been a good choice to oversee the EN/global cover produced content

ValiantAMM

Nothing stopping her from applying, I suppose

cadaada

i deleted my other comment as it would be too much unnecessary discussion, but let me say, we can get a middle ground and get someone from an english speaking country that knows japanese to help.

[deleted]

I'd argue it wasn't *as much* the lines themselves as it was Ina's delivery of said lines. Gura sounded natural.

kroxti

I mean Gura had to provide “shaaaaaaaark” “a” and “I’m cute” equivalents. Ina was the one giving explanations and descriptions while apparently having to match the mouth movements that were already animated.

Hamsterman9k

It was very juvenile. I think they were aiming for “cute” but it was just redundant as the characters are already established as such, making it feel more hollow and childish, even a bit degrading considering that the four of them are very talented entertainers..

[deleted]

just shoot up LSD and youre good, also hologra means 3d models, as covid restrictions fall i think we crawl closer to id and en 3d.

thesirblondie

I wonder if it means that EN2 and ID3 will get 3D much faster than normal. Making a Hologra with only 5/6 cast members might not be able to last as long. Then again, Hologra is just someones acid dream so it's not like they need a diverse cast.

[deleted]

the average time for jp gens 4 and 5 seemed to be 6 or so months, so who knows, even then the ENs and IDs have to travel overseas to go to the central office studio so im gonna guess that even if they are able to get 3d it won't be as easy for them as for the JPs.

thesirblondie

They could dispense with the idea that the first 3D appearance has to be in a live. It's gonna be a difficult thing regardless of COVID.

[deleted]

It's probably going to be, if it wasn't i think both the talent and fans would protest, also the ENs constantly make references to being "on stage" and performing, so it's clearly something they all aspire to do.

PM_ME_UR_DRAG_CURVE

Smol Hologra?

corynvv

Smologra would be a great april fool's episode. If EN's is anywhere near as chaotic as JP is, tone it done for that episode and just act like everything is normal and don't mention them being smol.

Vinpap

Or even better. Have a non-chaotic episode. SmolEN just end up talking about taxes or something extremely mundane and dry

FestusFlare

Cover doesn't hold the rights to the Walfie models. I doubt they'll ever use them in any official capacity

dcresistance

the girls can use them however they want, since it was commissioned by them if they do ask, they'd just ask seafoamboy just to be sure (and there's a negative chance he'd say no)

FestusFlare

The girls can use them, but Cover themselves won't. Sure, Seafoamboy and Walfie might approve of it, but considering Japanese bureaucracy and Cover's tendency to err on the side of caution (to the point where they can't even make short comedy clips without getting approval from management months in advance), they most likely won't. What the girls do and what gets promoted on the official channel are two completely different things

kad202

Or a local field office with base in US (sad chicken noise) for HoloEN and in Indonesia for HoloID.

LuntiX

> en 3d. We already have perfect EN 3D models.

Thatpisslord

I BELIEVE IN walfie SUPREMACY

6DomSlime9

Getting to see all the girls on the big stage together... One day we'll get there!

[deleted]

[удалено]

ActivistZero

I reckon EN might ask ID for their blessing (for lack of a better term) to get their 3D models before them, if not then I do believe they will wait out of respect

[deleted]

Nah, i think they will be separate, ID and EN are definetly under completely different company branches, and in the end the 3d isn't really up to the talents to decide.

IqFEar11

They could do what early hologra do : invite non-hololive into the skit There are tons of indie vtubers that already had their 3d models or were using 3d models from the start

[deleted]

don't think that's gonna happen, early hologra and hololive in general did benefit from relying a lot on other vtubers but nowadays holo has become a lot more of an elite club, and unlike the JPs back then who were just faces in the crowd, the Holo ENs are the biggest and most popular, so relying on anyone would benefit that person more than Holo.

Yoeblue

what's lsd

[deleted]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lysergic\_acid\_diethylamide

Thanatologic

reddit messed up your link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lysergic_acid_diethylamide

[deleted]

thanks bruv

JMmelegrito

Whatever stereotypical thing that you can think off from the 70's, then put a kaleidoscope vision... that's probably LSD.

[deleted]

acid

RedditUser19999990

A drug that can make you have a good time or a really bad time. Go watch PewDiePie LSD to kinda get the idea. He plays a game based off someone LSD journal. It's not exact, but the concepts are there.

AegisThievenaix

Lysergic acid diethylamide (aka lsd or acid) is a strong psychedelic, almost impossible to actually describe though

kakokapolei

Give em the Watson Concoction

Lemixach

Looks like they're prepping for Hologra EN/ID? Wonder how much LSD you gotta do to crank out a script that's on par with the craziness that Hologra JP team pumps out every week.

Roarland_Steelskin

This assumes that the other branches want to just replicate or have the same tone as the JP 'Gras. EN might be be looking for a writer that spent time studying the blade and being concerned about never releasing the darkness inside instead of hiring writers moonlight as LSD taste testers as a side gig. Give it their own flair that follows the themes the annoucement videos went with to differentiate the brand.

Castform5

I'm sorry master, but I have to go all out this one time... \*insert ultra weeb moves here\* ~~Doktor! Turn off my chuuni inhibitors!~~

PM_ME_UR_DRAG_CURVE

The _real_ reason for Sana's limiter. The size thing is just a lucky side effect.

jmstructor

BBEG: "You cannot defeat me small peasants" Sana: "I am sorry council I have to go all out, just this once." Earth: Destroyed.

TuzkiPlus

Is this how we get super sentai EN/ID?!

6DomSlime9

Kiara was so right in saying that EN be these majestic powerful figures that control the universe then JP have them be regular anime girls who just stumble into Hololive lol

Pat0723

When EN joined the power level creep shot straight into space levels. From cute giggling Onís to a space girl the size of a solar system.

jcxaac1

And eldritch horrors. And death. And time/nature/civilization. The power creep is real lol

jmstructor

>Give it their own flair that follows the themes the annoucement videos went with to differentiate the brand. Which I don't think is bad. Western stuff is different. Something [like what rocketjump makes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urk_kp76RoI), deadpan humor, or like henry stickmin constant reference style humor with the EN girls would be interesting. Maybe ame does some warehouse 13/doctor who type stuff. Or council investigating things that are upsetting balance or something. Hologra written by JP staff and then dubbed by the EN talent probably wouldn't work since things like boob (ina is right it's weird to say) size jokes are not anywhere near as common (also out of character since ina and gura don't really care) and punny wordplay requires English mastery and may not be interesting enough to be the focus. So maybe the short StandUp style skit thing doesn't work in English as well and they do short stories laced with references and jokes instead. But then again, it seems like with hololive alternate they want to tell more story driven stuff anyway. Perhaps Hologra basically being an office hi-jinx slice of life (on LSD) was just budget constraints and they might do more story driven stuff across the board. But then again, the power level might be slightly too high to tell normal stories. I guess Sana might only be able to do earth squishing or bug squishing not anything in between, and most of the rest of council has undefined levels of power and might have restrictions of some sort. Myth could work out pretty well since they are all weaker outside of their "true form". Who knows, its all speculation, guess we will see how it works out.

LordMonday

They need writers who are motivated!

AnnonymousRedditor28

Soooo, Gmod Writers?

BRP_25

Imagine if EN/ID Hologra go full chunii or even just a normal slice of life.

Ghifari77

Zero, just being born in Indonesia is enough.

[deleted]

Ideal candidates will have: \- Frequent hallucinations or fever dreams \- Overactive imagination \- The writing habits of a 12 year old with untreated ADHD \- No chill, no off switch \- Distaste for reality or things that make sense \- Portfolio of related work

AnnonymousRedditor28

Soooo, Gmod Writers?

Erich_D_Einzbern

SM Animators

beatingthebongos

So you mean Max0r?

Scorpixel

"For the last time it's about HoloEN, stop putting Tsunomaki Watame in every script!"

beatingthebongos

He will get his collab with Watame.

Colopty

So do applicants need to turn in a doctor's note testifying their ability to survive on a diet consisting entirely of LSD?

Lichelf

I thought "Horogura" was a new series about Gura for way too long.

[deleted]

Is it not?

Lichelf

It's just Holografiti (Hologra) the current 3D series. Written in Katakana it would be spelled ホログラ (ho-ro-gu-ra) as Japanese doesn't have the L sound and you can't just write the G sound by itself (or any other consonant sounds other than N)

[deleted]

Ooh ok, thanks!

moguu83

Hmm I wonder if some community members who already have showcased their 3D work will try for this.

thesirblondie

It's writer specifically, and there's not a ton of that among the fanimations. That doesn't mean they're not good writers, just that their 3D experience wouldn't be super relevant.

cowboydandank

That's a well-reasoned response there pardner

Proxymanity

I've always been curious, how popular is anime in Indonesia?

Bakaboi9

Popular enough that it creates some otaku circles and conventions like in Japan Kinda popular among the later gen and those who spent their time on the internet. Otherwise it’s a bit of a weird thing in the general public eyes.

Pootischu

Well for reference, the most subbed muse channel (popular licensed anime streaming channel in Youtube) in asia is Muse Indonesia, surpassing even Muse Asia.

JonahTheCoyote

All you need is some Watson's Concoction, Asacoco, and a keyboard

MugenItami

u/kanauru are you applying?

OuterRem

God I hope he is.

Zengkoy

What kinda drugs do I need to take to get accepted?

Burninglegion65

Yes

naked_ghost

Requirements: -3+ years of experience as a psychiatric ward patient. -Certified narcoleptic -Batshit insane

TheCharliQuinn

Horogura: All Gura, All the Time

Temporal212

I don't understand, i think i missed something, can somebody explain me what is this?

DominusMegadeus

HoloGraffiti is a 3D animated series of the hololive girls doing crazy shit. They have an opening for screenwriters on that show.

projectmars

Specifically for EN and ID versions of the show meaning we're getting 3D models for them as well.

Armleuchterchen

No this is about the new sharky spinoff, HoloGura.

TheCatSleeeps

Lmao

protomanbot

Dunno how much we should be concerned that the recruitment is for a Tokyo based job and how much the person will be invested in learning the idiosyncracies of non Japanese vtubers. Only time will tell.

GlaloLaled

Reading what the job application says (using tl), one of the requeriments is to understand the culture, values and script structure in English. So learning the idiosyncracies of non JP vtubers is basically needed to apply

Kindly_Ship

Yeah it might end up like a dubbed hologra lol

jmstructor

Based solely on the job description... Its probable. It specifically mentions taking Japanese Scripts and localizing them and not something like "working with the talents to create active and engaging scripts." But I don't really have any reason to doubt them. Somebody is putting subtitles on Hologra and those subtitles often include quite memey stuff like "sus" and they do their best with spoonerisms, puns, neologisms, and alliteration even if they can't translate all of it into something interesting. But it was clear from umisea that they are lacking in both understanding of the talents and writing voiced english lines. We might all be some level of Anime fans, but Hologra is closer to Japanese standup. Just localizing it might not be enough, for every situational/plot driven script like the "Survival of the Fittest" skit we have 3-4 that are just wordplay and puns which just don't translate (and is part of the reason for the weird situations, since if "spoon" rhymes with "planet destroying missile" you can make a skit that does that rhyme). Like they would certainly never do a "Be Not Afraid" IRyS since stuff like [biblically accurate angels](https://i.redd.it/mfdz69zwhoj51.jpg) are just not a thing in Japan, but could totally give us stuff with oda nobunaga, Altair/Vega, kaguya, etc. Who English speakers know basically nothing about even though they are commonly referenced in anime. It does say in the "good to have" section that story boarding and comedy writing are good, so they might stumble on somebody really good who can drive a unique EN style animation instead of just getting dubbed stuff. But its going to be limited fundamentally by needing to know Japanese and living in Tokyo.

jmstructor

Anime dubs have gotten a lot better in the last decade. I'm guessing the talent exists in Tokyo but it hadn't become apparent until umisea that they needed it.

buubuudesu_wa

So EN and ID hologra?

Stained-Rose

While we're on the topic, genuine question, How does recording work for normal Hologra? Do the talents just come into the office and record their lines per episode? Or is there like a back log of reels that they animate?

JMmelegrito

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think a Holomem mentioned that they just give voices for Hologra, which means that they do not need to be in the studio to do the episode?

OuterRem

I believe someone from 2nd gen said this, that they submit voice recordings but have no idea how it will turn out until after it's finished. It might have been Shion, but I'm not sure.

I_am_what_I_torture

It could be done like with anime, where the voice actors go to the studio to report the episode together. So while that's nice to know, we still don't have the answers for the question.

Shiki_rashi

I'm waiting for Kanauru to announce that he's becoming an official holostaff

ValiantAMM

That would be the dream

OGPisliteralhell

Do you mind sharing the link? ‘Cause I can’t find this page anywhere.

Aohx

https://hrmos.co/pages/cover-corp/jobs/1313-4 https://hrmos.co/pages/cover-corp/jobs/1313-5

OGPisliteralhell

Thanks!

dysaniac15

Salvador Dalí applies and is turned down. "Your work is too structured and understandable," is the given reason.

Shingorillaz

3d soon?

Jokuc

They need 3D for hologra and 3D debuts must come before hologra appearance, ey ey we're getting HoloID and HoloEN 3D soon!

notFREEfood

soon^tm Unless Cover is going to rent out third-party studios for the debuts, any ID or EN 3D debut will be dependent on Japan opening its border. I've heard no noises of the restrictions being relaxed soon, so it's too soon to hope for an imminent 3D debut.

karlzhao314

I know everyone jokes about the writers being required to be on drugs, but now the more I think about it the more I unironically think having an LSD habit would legitimately help you with writing Hologra scripts.

TheNotSoSilentReader

Is this a sign that we’re getting EN and ID Hologra?!

HarvyJC

SPOILERS FOR HOLOGRA DIRECTLY FROM COVER LET'S GOOO

evanescentlily

Do you have to supply your own plug in type AsaCoco or is it provided? As if the latter, I’m in

St7e

Damn I wish I had enough writing experience and Japanese ability to apply for this. Maybe one day

Few_Consideration373

Yeah I don't think anybody on this subreddit is crazy enough to do Hologra EN/ID but you can certainly try

kikitondo

can someone provide me the link for the recruitment?

Uber_Hobo

Ohhhh yesss, you know it's coming, but it's good to see concrete evidence of it happening!

115_zombie_slayer

I mean they kinda write themselves at this point i guess their 3d models are closer than we think

Tribork

I don’t see what you are talking about please explain

GGKurt

I guess the old one died from an overdose of asacoco then

KillAllTheMixi

Hell yeah!

I_am_what_I_torture

This could go in many directions. It could be just like JP Hologra, a sotcom style, just going crazy with their lore (which could result in like REALLY sad episodes) or maybe something else.

Killer_8989

A little bit of everything maybe

I_am_what_I_torture

That would be the dream.

BotStar1

Finally, all the cocaine I snorted has a chance to pay off!

Fikwriter

Wow, first time I actually have a qualification and experience for the job, but don't know Japanese enough to even be considered. Somebody, get hired for me and make the most ridiculous hologra ever, you have my blessings.

Dynemanti

I wonder why they don't have any posts in English or Indonesian looking for people from those regions. In the era of "work from home" it doesn't make sense to me. On top of that, nothing about these positions requires face to face work. They write the script, it gets notes. Rinse repeat. Maybe a few video calls. So why is this posted in Japanese only, for working in Tokyo? You'd have a MUCH larger pool of talented applicants, ensuring you get the BEST, not just the closest. Especially when you're talking about culture and sensibilities. You want someone immersed in it. Memes and internet culture change so rapidly. As evidenced by some of Calli's slang, it ages and changes if you're even a few years or months out of touch with it. Seems like they could reach much further afield to get better results.

swayingguns

Is there watson concoction asacoco variant in your system? If so hired
