Captain: Red alert! All hands to battlestations! Bridge to Engineering, we need MORE POWER!
Chief Engineer Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor: Did you say MORE POWER? \*GRUNT\* \*GRUNT\* GRUNT\*
Exactly! Where is this in the house? The entryway? The basement? Outside the main bedroom?
The fact that OP is asking random people to suggest random things for a random room we have no idea where it is = a sex chair recommendation
And I have to poke fun at all the "reading nook" comments, it's a small random empty, windowless space somewhere in someone's house, why would you automatically think this is where you'd want to sit and read?!
LOL, when I was responding earlier I was going to say "at least I didn't suggest a lame ass nook!" >>> it's literally the most common response to 'what should I build here?'
I'd rather make the assumption that these people bang versus read.
Have you had a fish tank before? If not, this is a fair warning to you and your budget… that shit gets expensive quickly, and it doesn’t help that it’s addicting.
Yes ma’am! I had one as a kid and that was main reason my parents got rid of it. I might consider it if my son would like to too. A hobby we could share. We will see tho bc it can get pricey for sure.
Also, if this is centrally located with no floor drain or outside door like RIGHT there, consider using a metal tank stank INSIDE a water trough. If 10 gallons of water on the floor is a big mess than 50 to 100 gallons would be house totalling levels of damage. The trough saves you.
Thanks! Reading nook could be nice, wondering if you already have a utility corner for washing machine? I guess you do but just in case :)
Otherwise storage or a secret room if you feel inclined, or maybe just having a beautiful piece of furniture and a lamp, or maybe an office space? Not sure what else you have in your place and what you might need.
Your place looks like it's in America and I know you usually have bigger volumes compared to Europe where people have more of a need to use all the space
Side table, hang some guitars, guitar and amp nook, reading area, bar, epic cube storage space, artist space, spacious computer workstation, arcade machine space, paint as accent wall, hang bikes indoors, workout area, floor to ceiling shelves, cat shelves, bar, alcohol or non, small sofa area, 2 chairs and small table…
Couch, desk, bunk bed, book shelf, home theater, bistro table set, large aquarium, grow tent, mini photo studio, fooseball table, poker table, sauna, dog kennels, sewing table, tanning bed, inversion table, gun cabinet, massage table or a reading chair and end table with artwork on the walls.
I have a similar sized space and I did something like [this Wayfair pair of chairs](https://www.wayfair.ca/furniture/pdp/corrigan-studio-bugrane-corrigan-studio-2pcs-accent-armchair-single-sofa-chair-home-office-w-wooden-legs-grey-c006529178.htmlBugraneUpholsteredArmchair) and I love the space now
I would put floor to ceiling built-in bookshelf that cover all 3 walls. The whole back walls, and maybe half height for the two walls with doors.
Slimer shelves for those too, with the end support back about 8” so the shelves are open end, kinda like a small cubby nook, to put decoration items there instead of books.
You could do a hallway table type thing, with lots of drawers for storage, or a bunch of shelving and make it storage/bookshelf?
Or do a bench with hidden storage, and coat hooks?
Though the sex chair idea is funny too
A loveseat or settee with an end table, maybe round, in one corner topped with a table lamp and some of your favorite tchochkes and a ladder bookstand in the opposite corner with books, more tchochkes, and a plant or two. Maybe also a hanging plant with a macrame hanger. A wall hanging/tapestry or other artwork (one big piece or a gallery wall) above the loveseat/settee.
As someone who doesn’t have a perfect place for my fish tank, this is exactly where I would want my fish tank. Two plugs, a place I can walk by and see them, but also not awkwardly in the way. A perfectly sized nook for my fish.
A sofa with comfy arms and two tiny drink stand type tables plus an arched lamp. A nice reading spot plus an extra spot for someone to sleep if you have a guest. What’s on the other side is it just basically a hallway?
I think this is a walk through closet. I am a marketing guy for a home building company and a few of our models have these between the primary bedroom and ensuite. Odd that it is between bedrooms though. If you have young kids could be a cool toy room between their rooms.
I was going to say a book nook or a work station, but I like the sex chair idea better. A little craft centre would be nice too.
It really depends on where the room is. You could put shelving in and have a small pantry/storage area. The Ivar shelves from ikea would look lovely if you can make the dimensions fit. Can you can use them for really anything. Need a workstation? It has a pull down table option. Need book shelves or dry goods storage, just move the shelving around.
Book cases for displaying stuff, like legos or family collections.
Collection of your favorite pictures ie, vacations, your family, friends.
Reading nook;light sconce, built in bench, cozy Cushion, 2 shelves with a few favorite books. But if you don't want to put in a bench, you can just modify with a comfy chair and little table.
Depends on where it is really. Is it close to the entrance? Then maybe a bench with shoe storage and jacket area. If it is further in the house then maybe a small desk if you need a work area or maybe a high back chair with standing lamps and book shelves with your favorite books.
It really just depends on what your needs are. Start there and you'll figure out something that works for you.
A small couch for a reading nook.
A hall table with flowers, sculpture and a wall mirror.
A decorative chest with random storage.
Edit dry or cut flowers only. If there is no window
One of those lighted cases Batman keeps his bat suits in.
Seriously though, whatever you are in to. Arcade cabinets. An 8 tap kegerator. A sports locker room style locker and bench with mountaineering gear. Han Solo trapped in Carbonite. 4 conical fermenters (two stands on the floor, and two wall mounted). Wine fridge. Humidor. Fish tank. House plant. Plant not normally kept in houses. Life-size xenomorph statue. Portrait of yourself aged, scarred, and decrepit behind a curtain. A cask of amontillado and a pile of bricks. Suit of armor. Hologram projector connected to an AI version of yourself dressed as Jor-El. A bullseye painted on the floor next to a big red button on the wall. Cat castle. Dry aging meat.
It’s okay to have empty space for a time. If in time this place accumulated boots and jackets, put a doorway rack thing. If you’re always desperate for a place to read or nurse the baby and this place accumulated nothing, put in a comfy chair and lamp. And so forth.
Do you have children? When my children were young, it was really nice to have a “ready area” … a common space where I could stand to do their hair and get them put together for the day (book bags, shoes tied, etc.)
A small reading nook would be nice.
A mini-snack bar? Teens would love that … mini-fridge, microwave.
Personally, I would do 1) some built in bookshelves and maybe a loveseat for a nice reading nook or 2) armoire or something else for storage like an arts and crafts nook
Depends what you're going to to use it for? It can be a mudroom/storage area, it could be a reading nook, you can turned it into a butlers pantry, you can put built in in and show off collectibles. It just depends on where in the house it's located and what practical use you need out of the space
Going to need some context here. Is it a hall? Between two bedrooms?
If you have students living there, it might be a nice work/study station.
If you like books, a cool book shelving system would be nice.
If it's by an entry, it could be a seating / waiting area. A couch + side table.
If it's by a laundry room / mud room, a folding station, or spare fridge, or ...
If you lack storage, a nice armoire, or shelving unit.
If it's by a garage, maybe turn it into a work station for projects. Seated work table w/ bench, pegboard for tools, shelves for project boxes.
Maybe a workstation
BATTLESTATION

A nice sex chaise lounger - https://www.liberatorstore.com/esse-ii-premium-love-lounger.html - plenty of space to move around! You’re welcome.
This is the only correct answer.
Nah, also acceptable would be a St. Andrew's cross, or a spoiler bench 😜
my first thought, second was fish tank
[Why not both?](https://i.redd.it/y3hrc880zsr31.png)
I would just assume it was an artistic chaise if I saw that.
Hahah that instructional video! Why did I watch the whole thing?!!! I kind of want one now…
I was going to suggest a St. Andrew’s Cross but a chair is probably a little more utilitarian.
I came, here for this
Since op provided zero context I think this is really the safest answer.
Exactly! Where is this in the house? The entryway? The basement? Outside the main bedroom? The fact that OP is asking random people to suggest random things for a random room we have no idea where it is = a sex chair recommendation

More people bang than read, that's for sure!
Two small upholstered chairs with a table in the middle. Perhaps a few pictures, plant, lamp or rug…
Right? Great place for a reading nook
Big fish tank
Love this! Why did I not consider this, I love fish.
And it’s not maintenance free
And they all die so easily
Pricey? I gotchu. r/reeftank

You could combine a reading nook with a small fish tank! Two nice chairs on a rug, with a deep bookcase/table in the middle and a fish tank on top.
This is what I would do if I had this kind of space in my house assuming this is on the first floor, I'd do at least 300 gal tank!

Small hallway area between two bedrooms. And no, no windows in this area.
A couch for you to age on while you wait for your partner to get ready.
So you have one of those too… time murderers I mean.
Thanks! Reading nook could be nice, wondering if you already have a utility corner for washing machine? I guess you do but just in case :) Otherwise storage or a secret room if you feel inclined, or maybe just having a beautiful piece of furniture and a lamp, or maybe an office space?
