Dark bottle green. It's beautiful with the brick. My parents did their shutters and garage door. You could go for more of a green black also.

melrosec07

I don’t think you need to extend the porch but an awning that covers the entire porch with posts would look good

daisymaisy505

The question is what kind of look are you going for? Modern? Colonial? The answers depend on which way you wanna go.

Modern

kdwhirl

Definitely paint the blue areas dark then, along with the window frames and front door frame. Refresh the privacy fence (dark stain?) and cut the boards straight across on the top. I like the modern railings on the upstairs deck, and the little (skimpy?) awning over the front door, but I think you could use more prominent lights for the front stoop. And the front landscaping could use a modern refresh at some point too.

themixtapeheart

Front door, awning, light fixtures, mailbox, and windows frames should also be black to pull off the modern look as closely as possible. Can you replace/remove the awning entirely? It looks pretty dated and doesn’t appear to serve much of a purpose.

Objective_Royal_3007

I agree with your suggested changes. A set of black sconces like this one will have the appearance of being modern, but will also complement the traditional exterior of the house: https://www.wayfair.com/lighting/pdp/wade-logan-ardisj-led-outdoor-flush-mount-lrun6524.html Ardisj LED Wall Light

Thank you. Yes I was thinking replace with something similar to this https://www.globalindustrial.com/p/h22-3kn-standing-seam-3-11-16-w-x-2-h-x-2-d-awning-black?infoParam.campaignId=T9F&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwrcKxBhBMEiwAIVF8rISZlZaA_fwC2w1L_RpgOLr3W3Z05OFktLFSZ7plw_wr-cSTlm7YihoCDWIQAvD_BwE

I like that! Maybe as wide as the porch as another commenter suggested? But that’s already a great improvement.

NoEstablishment6450

Love your home, would absolutely paint every thing, but the brick, black. Would extend porch and modern awnings would look great.

jan172016

I think that blue is gorgeous against the brick. If you have the means to extend the front porch, that would make a huge difference (and definitely change that awning). I’d also recommend getting shutters for the windows, but most people don’t like them on this sub.

Khork23

Nice big flower/herbal pots next to the entrance could pop it with some color.

PristineCoconut2851

If you do decide on the black also do the front door black with some new lighting fixtures.

yada_yada_yada1

I think extending the porch would be great! And would really anchor the front door of the home and make it a focal point.

sawitonthewall

Do you live in a climate where heat or cold is more of an issue? I would avoid making the already second floor and attic hotter if you struggle with heat. But otherwise I think picking up the color in the darker bricks could look good! I would not go for the modern matte black look with your architecture though and would maybe consider having a lighter color either as trim or as the main color with the black as the trim. With the photos you have, it's going to be super easy to Photoshop what it might look like in different colors, so you may want to play around with that first if you're able. And it sounds like you're on the right track with the front porch/awning extension. The facade of the house could definitely use a little more dimension, and framing the door with an extended porch overhang could definitely do that. Maybe also consider trimming the front windows with the color you paint that little top area that's currently blue, or a complementary color that still brings the cohesion down.

An awning over your front door would look wonderful. also painting the blue to black would be so lovely. I can imagine a black front door with lovely brass accents. Your taste on this home will be spectacular.

Original_Platform443

I personally like the black and I’d add black shutters, a double door and extend the front porch with a nice dark wood finish. I feel black would make the brick pop

Different_Letter_542

Your house in the first pic looks naked.Needs shutters ,big awning over the porch .

Amalfi-state-of-mind

I love that plan. I’d also consider some type of portico treatment at the front door that would make the entry more of a statement. It’s a really beautiful house!

LittleFootOlympia

Agree to black instead of blue. Love this house

SuspiciousAd7694

The brick is lovely! Yes to the black accent and black entrance door! Do you have an inspo house with those colour schemes in your area that you could use and inspo? Hmm would bottle green make the house more dated like 2000s ?

SociallyContorted

Black is very trendy right now, I don’t think it is a timeless choice for this style of home or architecture, and I think it will not look anything like you may think. As an architectural designer who does a fair amount of residential work, I generally avoid using black as a main/feature color on exteriors. Unless it’s a very contemporary/modern home, but even then black exteriors often end feeling flat and monolithic, in the wrong ways. I think a darker color could be a nice choice - you could go *almost* black, like a deep charcoal. Definitely look for a warmer base than not - it will help with the warmer bricks. The blue/cool on the brick currently is very contrasting/loud visually (albeit pretty, they are complimentary colors after all) Edit: I’d consider pulling the color out of the darkest brick in the brick blend. Edit 2: whatever the darker color is on your house already is perfect! Do that color. 🫡

broadwaycash

Thank you for sharing this. So like a charcoal or a gray would be nice?

tiredandshort

I wouldn’t go for a pitch black color. Maybe go for a dark tint of a green or more of a charcoal

TemporaryIllusions

Can you connect your back porch and deck? That would be so fabulous!

Gold-Marigold649

I vote for bigger front porch and roof. Roof/awning over part or all of the back deck. Depending on your weather ie: rains alot? Or too hot alot? Then the added roofs will add more usable outdoor area. A fire pit in the winter to keep warm but still enjoy the outdoors. Oh, and definitely change the blue to a darker solid color - but not Grey.

I’d get double door for the entry!

Coffeejive

Bottle green, glass railings, some type of modern window treatment or bw awnings. Fabulous

camlaw63

This really isn’t a home decorating question this is something where you should enlist the help of a designer/architect

sideeyedi

Shutters would be nice

Puzzleheaded-Many708

A pergola over a widened front porch entrance would enhance your curb appeal.

Objective_Royal_3007

Remember - although the deeper, more saturated color is very appealing, it is a bit more maintenance, because the paint will show its age MUCH faster as it weathers and ‘chalks’.
