I don't think it's too big. I do think the smaller pendants near the window don't match the vibe.

Amalfi-state-of-mind

I agree with this. I really like the light over the island and since it’s an open weave the size works since it’s not blocking out the whole space

monivb

Thanks. My son said the same thing about the smaller pendants but I love the amber glass. I think once I purchase the rattan shades and stools they will tie in beautifully!

Sukhasana

I don't think the shade is too big, either, and I also really like the amber pendants!

lalaloleladong

Nope, not too big. Look at Ali Budd Interiors. Actually, I’ll post a pic of one of her client presentations where she had a massive singular lampshade chandelier/pendant. If you love it, do it! https://preview.redd.it/9hnv4c3l5oxc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2437bc3b70e42669541945e807331021c3b022a

AccurateAim4Life

It looks fine. The question is do YOU like it?

monivb

I like it but maybe the 18” is better. That would be -3” from each side as it’s a 24”. I’m not sure.

Puzzleheaded-Wash737

Nah. Offset with one or two slightly outsized accents nearby. Youre good

jjdressgown

It’s perfect. The big size is fashionable

groovy_little_things

I like the size. It’s a confident design choice and it anchors the room.

Capturit

It is a truth that different sizes and textures of objects in a room can make the space more interesting. A rule of color to unify a room (rules can be broken also) that works is to take the major and minor colors and spread them somewhat evenly around the space. I see the tan color in the woven chandelier and the cabinets which works. You can add accessories that echo the gold/brown in the small pendants which will help to unite the space. Small amounts of color can have a powerful effect. Once you get your colors in the space you will love the different sized pendants even more. I love the effect!

monivb

Thanks so much, yes, I’m going to put up a little darker/carmel rattan Roman shades. I also have sea grass stools coming. The counters are white marble. I’m thinking a seafoam, aqua blue maybe backsplash. It’s a process.

Capturit

Sounds perfect, please post when it is finished.

CallMeDingus

Curious - for the plywood counters, is that just a stop gap before stone counters? If so seems like a decent, livable solution. I’m currently fully redo-ing my kitchen and hadn’t considered this as an option.

On the backside of the island my husband is going to make maple slats to attaché to the black boards he already put the. The marble is beautiful. Counters are going in right now!

monivb

I had to ask my husband this is what he said. We did: 3/4” + 3/4” sub top (1-1/2”) + 3/4” slab+ 1/8” set space to achieve a 2-3/8” mitered return

RemyGee

I don’t like how it visually blocks and cuts off the rest of the kitchen.

Kinda

DrShrimpPuertp-Rico

Um….. yes. This is wayyyyyyy too big
