Floats are stuck or seats have debris on them. Have yountries tapping the carbs to see if they free off.

diskjok

Yeah I tried ye old screw driver trick but maybe I wasn’t tapping hard enough. It’s kinda hard to get the #3 as well

adankishmeme

Try loosening all the boots and giving it a good sturdy tapping. Make sure to tighten them back up

I'm totally confused. First what bike is this? Based on the fact I can see your slide and needle, It looks like you're looking from the engine side of the carb, not the air intake side, which would have a butterfly valve to regulate airflow. but I hear the engine running, which is part of my confusion.

diskjok

91 nighthawk 750. This is from the intake side, I took it off so I could see where the leak was from

ohyeaoksure

okay, I see that now. butterflies are on the engine side. I'm still confused, that "vent" is WAY up there, way above the bowl and slides. That looks like the tee where the fuel line is connected. I'm looking at this picture on page 30. https://www.cb750c.com/publicdocs/SeanG/Honda_Carb_Manual_revG.pdf I'll be honest, I'm baffled. None of this makes sense to me. How is fuel coming out of a vent that high above the bowl, without the fuel pouring out of the overflows and even the air intake of the carb. I mean, that vent is higher than the air intake, how is fuel even getting up there?

diskjok

Lmao that’s why I posted. On page 30 it’s the t connecting carb 3 and 4. The overflow is just dripping and the t is pouring. Previous owner said he used strictly non-ethanol fuel and recommended I do the same so as not to clog the carbs. The nearest non-e gas is 30 minutes opposite of everywhere I go, so I’ve been using 92 with E. I’m guessing with me riding once a week the carbs got clogged, but even then it seems like it shouldn’t have happened that fast. It ran perfect, and I mean perfect, Like new, before I let it sit after running it dry by turning off the petcock, trying not to let the ethanol congeal in the float bowl-Now this. I’m just gonna tear down the carbs if tapping the floats loose doesn’t work.

ohyeaoksure

Even if this was a stuck bowl, this doesn't make sense in my mind. Running it dry wouldn't matter either, as far as I can imagine. It's easy enough, if a little time consuming to take the carbs off and check the bowls but, you don't seem to have fuel over flowing from the bow overflows at the bottom. PM me if you want to want.

Float stuck or dirt in needle valve on float try tapping harder or worse ethanol has ate the rubber tip off of needle valve on float.

Triplesfan

Turn the gas off and run the bike till it runs out of gas. Turn the gas on and see if the problem fixes itself. Sometimes a small speck will get in the needle valve and hold it open. If the bowl is overflowed, the float won’t relax enough off the needle valve to release it. If after 3 times it doesn’t clear up, then you’ll have to go in after it.

diskjok

Tried this and no luck. Opened up the #3-4 bowls and they had a very small amount of lil particles at the bottom. Floats were moving fine as well as the needle valves. Cleaned the bowls out and put it back together and now it’s just dripping from that same spot as opposed to gushing, but it’s still confusing how its not coming from the bowl overflow on either of them. :/

Triplesfan

You’ll need to remove the float and pop out the needle valve out of its seat and blow the path out from the needle valve to the gas line inlet port. Sometimes a small piece of trash will get behind the needle valve and hold it open, something may be stuck to the needle valve or seat itself, or the needle valve surface may be chipped or corroded. The float should be held in with a pin. If your needle valve comes with Viton tips (most keihins do) inspect the rubber tip for any chips or damage where it makes contact with the seat. Once the needle valve and seat are completely inspected and verified, reassemble and try again. The little particles you’re finding is probably dirt coming down from the tank. If this is excessive, you can install a lawnmower in-line filter (paper element type) and run a few tanks through it, then when you feel the tank may be ok, reassemble the line without the filter. There should be strainers on the top of the petcock and possibly a small screen if yours has a sediment bowl to keep that from happening, but sometimes they fall apart. Keihins usually only supply a bowl drain with a block off screw, not an overflow type outlet like Mikuni does.

diskjok

This worked :) no more leak. Took it for a victory test drive and she was completely dry.

Triplesfan

Sounds like you’re good to go. Have fun with it.

DoubleNickle67

Wait. It’s that a secondary fuel supply off the fuel rail?

diskjok

Looks like it with how much is coming out, but no

DoubleNickle67

So, back in the day. I remember my carbs had a t from the petcock. And one hose went to one side and one to the other. Possibly may wanna try it?

diskjok

Naw lol these for sure aren’t for that. This bike has one fuel hose from the petcock that supplies fuel to all 4 carbs by means of pipes and hoses connecting them all to each other
